Try these: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21249
They are the fastest recent drivers for most people. Modified inf is pre-packaged.
-
I tried all the other 3 and got low results.
-
A small suggestion that might help others out (besides myself) that like to keep up to date on drivers. On page 1 if you could put the dates of the drivers so when we check it (like I do fairly regularly) we can see if Intel's MSM or wifi drivers (or whatever) have been updated.
-
Dox's 180.43 for vista 64 beats the 177.85 xfastest by a couple hundred for me =)
-
-
Hmm... didn't ask for a link, just stated my experience with it... but thatnks =)
It's the thought that counts right? -
Link's on first post already
Will add a date on the non-displays next time, just for you josmol. -
just got a new laptop with 8800m gts and vista 64. what drivers would you guys suggest? thanks a lot.
-
Thanks buddy - u da mon!
-
guys, any advice on drivers?
-
look at the first post of this thread
-
Try Dox's customised 180.43 or 178.24.
-
Just a quick question.
Which one is preferable to use?
Dox's version of 180.43 or the official nVidia release of 180.43? -
"Official" drivers will not install on laptops without modified .inf file.
iaMtHeAnimaL has pointed out elsewhere that the Dox drivers have further tweaks. I'd give them a try. -
Hmm im overclocking on my 6860. Which drivers would you guys prefer for OC.
DOx's of Xfastest
the laptop video2go version of 180.43 down throttles my GPU to quickly. will that be the same case with DOX's version. -
That will most likely be due to Powermizer and I believe Dox's set fixes that issue.
It is fixable via a reg key so you could try other drivers. -
OK i installed Xfastest and i think i just lost some Frames Per Second. So i'm going to install Dox's driver with a clean install method.
-
which ones did you use?
-
Any help?

Temps are fine it happens as soon as the game starts. -
Very odd. Have you tried any other drivers like 178.24?
-
Are you monitoring temps? simply lifting the back end of the laptop an inch or two without blocking the vents usually lowers temps a great deal.
Are you OC'ing? Bring your clocks back down a bit and test again until stable.
Is this the only game it's happening with? test other games and see if it does it on all or just RA3 -
I'd say they are every bit as good as a soda bottle cap and will work just fine =)
-
lol true that - i'm using a book right now
-
Yes I monitor the temps when I play games with rivatuner so I can see the temps on screen while I'm playing the game. I'm not OC'in anything. Only two games it's done it on is C&C 3 and RA3, but I will test out others just to be sure. The only other game I have that'll really test the GPU is World in Conflict. I'm fairly certain it's a driver issue since I fixed it with C&C 3 by switching back to the Gateway driver from the laptopvideo2go 180.43. I just dl'd xfastest's driver so I'm going to go test that out quick.
-
try DOX's 180.43 too that one works even better than xfastest for me, 3DMark and in game.
What are your temps anyway? -
Can't DL DOX's drivers at work so I'll have to do that when I get to the other side of base and can get on the wifi. My temp's hover between 65-70 avg IIRC. Goes into the lower 70's on occasion during heavy gaming i.e. when the crap hits the fan.
-
Yeah, temps are def not the problem...
-
Well it was even worse with xfastest's drivers which defintely leads me to believe that it definitely is a driver problem and that I just need to find a good stable driver. Back to the driver that came with the laptop!
EDIT: Well stock driver didn't work either. I'm off to test out World in Conflict now.
Stock driver test with WiC passed.
LV2G 179.14 driver next... -
I would suggest getting a Targus X-Stand.
I currently have it for my P-6860 and the airflow underneath the laptop is amazing. Its fairly cheap plus, you can easily fold it and take it with you whereever you go. -
It was common to lose fps with Xfastest but it over clocked well so made up the difference. Just saying ... I'm sure there as good or better out there.
-
Yeh it'd be nice to actually be able to compare fps's with dif driver's if I could find one where the game wouldn't go haywire with black crap flickering all over my screen as soon as it loads. Only time it doesn't do it is when I put the settings to low, but where's the fun in that when I have a **** 8800.
I took some video of what I'm talking about and will upload it as soon as I can so you all can see firsthand what I'm trying to describe. RA3 is the only game where this happens. It did happen in C&C 3 but I fixed that by finding a driver that worked with it, but I am having trouble finding a driver that agrees with RA3. -
maybe try posting in the gaming forums if it just RA3...
-
thanks man, will check into that.
btw, dox's 180.43 worked better than xfastest 177.85 for me -
I posted there too. Figured I may get some good advice from fellow Gateway owners.
-
yeah just wanted to make sure you were covering all the bases becase it doesn't really sound like it is a gateway issue to me
-
k guys i just got a **** driver failure on my 8800m gts on cod4 so i am now officialy pissed at these drivers.
I think i have DOX's on now. I'm going to give xfastest a try once more and then im off to nbf mobile force drivers. -
it may not be a driver failure... the driver will force the graphics card off (in a sense) in order to prevent further damage. you could possibly, like i do, that does not take kindly to OC'ing. (i can't OC at all
)
-
FIXED in 180.44.
I will OC to my old OC setting on my 8800m gts
700 950 1600
Ill keep you all updated on how that goes. -
Dox's updated to 180.44.
-
Great thread, very helpful for a first time user.
Updated to Dox 180.43 on my p-7881fx last night without any issues.
Played fallout 3 for 3+ hours on high settings.
Looking forward to see how 180.44 runs.
Thanks -
any word on the new dox drivers?
-
Still playing with them... i think i like Dox 180.43 more so far... still not sure though...
-
Has anybody had problems with FUllHD resolution over HDMI?
Today i connected my Sony 40" FullHD first time to P7811 HDMI port. But it shows only 1280x720 pixels. Multidsiplay is configured to DualView (configured seperatly) Laptop screen is primary. Using Xfastest 177.85 drivers. Can somebody know why this is? Thx.
Edit: Nevermind
i just created custom resolution in Nvidia CP. And now the resolution is 1920x1080 like it should be.
-
k scratch that about dox 180.44 it is downclocking my card and giving me driver failures. Going to his other driver 178.24
-
How do I run a game in Vista in DX9? Change it to XP compatibility mode?...
nvm I found out how -
I'm installed the 180.44 but it recognize my card as 9800GTX+ , get one bsod before restart but so far so good, I'm using it hooked up in my plasma 42" 1920x1080 no problems with hdmi output
-
still got Dox's 180.44 on no actual problems so far and it held up pretty well defending a keep last night in Warhammer =)
-
LOL morgemil i think youre a little too worked up about that keep lol.
-
haha that was two nights ago... was a different keep last night
