that very well may be...but...... they are using the bios so that's all that matters...*LOL*

LOL, proof I can't read. You said "Adjust DESKTOP color settings." Not "Adjust video color settings."
And there it is in front of my eyes. I have looked for this before!!! +rep to the John man. It's easy to get reps when you are dealing with abject stupidity. -
nope...not stupidity...just the fact that your looking for so many different things that we tend to forget the simplest of things. i have done it a few times an you all have helped me to see the light as well on quite a few occasions.

not that i am complaining but... wouldn't it have been easier to just post these pictures on a single post?
-
was there a point to those pics?
-
there's my man. you E'sta. quick question... have you tried to game on battery yet? and if so...does it down clock?
-
hMM..Good question. Never tried. But, I believe I disabled powermizer a long time ago in the registry. But, that aside..it should be based off your vista power scheme, no?
Oh..on a side note. I exchanged my newly bought 7811 today, and got one with the p2887 9c.05 BIOS. I just finished deleting gateway crapware, and ran 3dmark without changing from stock drivers.. All is stock, but I dropped in the x9100 after Vista installed via the P8400..device manager shows p8400, not x9100..all else shoes x9100. My CPU didnt downthrottle..TZS0 peaked at 70C. I may have found the solution. Oh, and the CPU/Chipset heatsink is the old skool one I remember from my first 7811..maybe that has somethin to do with it. Pics below.
Screen shot:
2 pics of old skool heatsink:
AND maybe why TZS0 didnt flip out, see device manager:

I wish the pics were smaller ... I hate scrolling sideways to read. I'm adding it to my Christmas list.
The point may have been frame rate but I don't play the game so who knows????????????
This would have worked
-
Has anyone tried painting the orange black?
-
E-Wracked just right click on the p8400 uninstall both reboot and youll have x9100 once you booted, that's an old dook trick.
-
i had to do that on both my toshiba x205, and my 6860. -
-
Sometimes its just best to leave well enough alone . Thats part of the reason i didnt crack my 7811 open right a way and start spreading AS5 all over it . i figured it has great temps and works great why bother .

Hey all, brand new P-7811FX laptop owner here. I found a 2888 serial one on clearance at Best Buy the other day. I'm very happy with it so far. I formated the drive reloaded Vista x64 and just the drivers. And the thing just FLYS 13,500 score in 3dmark '05. That's quite an upgrade from my Dell XPS Gen 2 which averaged around 4,900 - 5,000 score in 3dmark '05.
I'm still reading the info threads here, but do pardon me if I don't want to read though 134 pages of posts! I made the full factory restore DVDs and Driver Only DVD, but I've still got a few questions...
#1 Does the laptop come with DVD playback software? or do I have to buy that.
#2 Any other driver upgrades that I should be aware of other then what is on the " Drivers Page"?
#3 I've got Bluetooth Stereo headphones that I want to continue to be able to use. So do any of you have recommendations on what bluetooth dongle to buy?
#4 I bought the 3-year Best Buy "Black Tie" geek squad extended warranty, but it was very expensive, $400. Do you think that is worth it? Or can I get better service else where. I mean, it does not seem like Geek Squad will really repair my computer, but just give me store credit in the event of a system failure.
I do not want to go without at least a 3 year warranty since on my Dell, the fans, AC power brick, and power socket on the motherboard failed in year 2, but luckly were covered under warranty. Basicly, i'm not confident in Geek Squad plan, but do not want to be without coverage. Anyone now of alternate warranty service plans or if the Geek Squad plan is ok? -
2) I just stuck with the current drivers that were already installed. Saw no need to update the drivers. Video drivers... it's up to you. That's the only thing I could see needing to be updated.
3) Search is your friend. Someone here was saying they just use a $20 Bluetooth dongle and it worked fine.
4) Not sure about the warranty since word on the street is that it's discontinued. Then again, someone said if it is discontinued and your laptop should mess up and Geek squad can't fix it, they'll let you have another laptop that is the same price of your laptop (I think, don't quote me on this). Other than that, I never do service warranties seeing as I've never seen the need for this. Guess I just have sheer luck *knocks on wood* -
#2 - That's a good start. Otherwise, you can always just search the web on sites like Intel, for the chipset and storage drivers.. I haven't upgraded any drivers yet with this model, and haven't had any issues. But, it's all up to you. Gateway's support page also has some drivers for download.
#3 - This dongle is small, and inexpensive. $5 isn't a bad deal, eh?
#4 - I don't buy extended warranties, I'm in the auto-industry and sell enough of them to know they can be beneficial though. From what I understand, if your computer goes to crap..that black-tie warranty will replace yours with a model currently in stock..if not the exact model, then one with similar specs. Man, that seems like a good deal if it works like that.. Heck, 2 years from now there will be a lot of new technology and this rig likely won't be on the shelves..so you could really come out ahead. -
Eurasia, were you looking over my shoulder as i typed?
-
How dare you! I shall smite thee! -

-
I wish I could give you a good answer..but do some research into it and see what others' think. It had 304 diggs, so I'd say they were happy with it.
You could always pick up a bluetooth mouse that includes a dongle, as well. Stay away from the logitech mini mouse though. -
cool, ty all

Hi guys,
I am living in Europe and finally got the babe --7811FX--. Just curious about one thing, my cousin works in a computer hardware company and he received a complaint of a customer who plugged Logitech Z5500 speaker system to his/her laptop and burned the mobo - No kiddin - And so,I have the old Creative Inspire 4400.And wonderin' if it would do the same to my babe? -
+rep to eurasia for answer to my question... i have another one though, are the rumors about upgrading the 2887 bios true? like do they improve the system's tolerance for heating? cuz i bought mine the first day of the labor day sale and i think it's a 2887 unit.
