I''ll try to uninstall smart manager and we''ll see the results
Edit: Nope it's not the smart manager, unistall and got the same result. Also the strange thing that the smart update showing a new update for the killer wireless card even though from what I have seen that all version of P35X coming with intel wireless.

But I had a different problem to yours (disabled audio, popping and stuttering).

Hey, I just got my P35X CF3. I bought it from xoticpc, and it came with windows 8.1 installed.
This is probably a silly question, but where do I download gigabyte's smart manager? Googling gives me some results, but no download link. -

Does anyone have a link to the D08 Bios before the 95c throttle update?
-
-
Question on updating the BIOS for the P35X.
Is a a direct download and run or do you have to make a bootable flash drive with files? -
Does anyone have the D08 files ;(?
EDIT: Nevermind... I'm stupid: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5219#bios
EDIT2: Does anyone have any issues with dual monitor setup using vga? I get occasional flickers on the external monitor. :/
EDIT3: new nvida drivers out. 347.52Last edited: Feb 10, 2015 -

Wow major price cut at XoticPC on the CF1, starting from $1842 now: http://www.xoticpc.com/gigabyte-p35xv3cf1-p-7928.html

I'm getting strange issue After I updated to D09, I can not shutdown the laptop if it's plugged to the charger as it switch on back by itself automatically after the shutdown sequence. I searched google for the and I found similar issues and mostly they said because of faulty bios or motherboard, I got some suggestions I"ll try them and see the results. But really now I'm not happy with the laptop and I regreted I bought it as just from one issue to another since I bought it.

In any case I'd rather buy the SSDs separately from Amazon or Newegg. -

I was actually about to pull the trigger and buy the CF7 version of this laptop, luckily I looked it up in here first and saw all the issues with the wifi people were having.. I can honestly overlook the noise/heat issues under load for a machine that'll last me several years but bad wifi is a no go. I wish Gigabyte used M.2 for the wifi so I could easily upgrade to the Killer 1525..
Crazy that a $30-50 component makes such a diff. in a $2.4k laptop but wifi is so crucial nowadays, no idea how they got it wrong.
Oh well... I guess the MSI GS60 is it.Last edited: Feb 11, 2015 -

I like the size and weight of the GS60 but I prefer the P35X overall.

The 7260AC has been causing problems in other laptops too, so we're not alone. I think it's mainly Intel's fault but they don't seem to have fixed it despite the problem existing for ages. It sucks that we don't have an M.2 slot, that'd be one of the things the GS60 is better for but eh, I'm happy with my P35X -
Personally ive never had an issue with the 7260 card. I have a dual band router tho and use the 5 gtz band. Streams HD video like a dream and never cuts out with or without my bluetooth headset on. This is just personal experience tho and have heard of others having issues. Personally I think it must be related to the router or drivers dont see how it can work flawlessly on some laptops and horribly on others without there being something interfering with it.

To balance with the issue reported with this laptop, I did not have issue with BT + Wifi at all

P35X does require a lot of work to working as you wanted, but it's so worth it at the end.

If you like overclocking your 980m, stick with drivers older than 347.09.
Catching up with this thread, I haven't had issues with the Intel 7260, with driver 17.13.11.5. I don't have the raised foot, but if I look to the left of the touchpad, on edge, the metal is bent slightly. It's probably a manufacturing error, but disappointing to see in any laptop. I'd probably have to disassemble the whole thing or send it back to Gigabyte to fix it, and it's a minor issue at the moment.moviemarketing likes this. -
Anyhow anybody tried to change to windows 7? -
Waiting for 10.

I didnt like windows 8 at first but now that im getting used to it I think its pretty good. Only thing I dont like about it is the system restore options maybe its just that I dont know how to do it properly but it seems more complicated than it was on earlier windows versions.
Also, Ive had my p35 for several months now and its still working great. Only issue I have had is that i get random double spaces every now and then but it seems that its only my laptop not a common issue with the laptop, and it doesnt happen often enough to really bother me especially since I really dont type that much anyway. -
Wow just saw they put out a new Razer Blade 14 with 16 GB ram, 970m gpu first time since I bought the p35 that im having second thoughts about it. If it would have been availiable 4 months ago it would be sittin on my lap right now.
-
Now the real question is whether or not you value portability over power. I just recently found out in the last few days that the new razer blade was released and spent quite a few hours regretting my purchase since I originally wanted to wait for the 2015 refresh as well.
But... we still have the only slim form factor 980m on the market. Equivalent battery life to the new razer blade, better storage, more IO (ethernet, sd card slot, vga, hdmi, MDP <--- how does the razer blade not have mdp?), 980m (let's not forget how much more future proof this is).
Where does the p35x lose? Chassis, but that doesn't mean the p35x has a bad chassis, only that the razer blade's is beautiful (still finger print attractant as the p35x though :/). Keyboard, this is an obvious failure on gigabyte's part. Size, arguable, but the p35x is as portable as a retina macbook pro, that's already pretty portable, of course I'd love to have the p35x specs in a 14" form factor.
The point is, don't fret, you're not missing out. Everything has it's tradeoffs, and I think the razer blade has fallen short. Even people in the razer blade forum on this website are upset with this new "refresh". -

How are the prices comparing?

$2700 for the 512 gb version
Razor is horrible with storage... -
jeanjackstyle Notebook Evangelist
Well, it depends on the person, but I really think this is overpriced for what you get.
-
It is true that the razer is overpriced and i think they should have added an additional msata slot but still thats one sexy looking gaming laptop and the quality of the razer blows away the gigabyte. Not that I dont really like the p35 but it definitely isnt perfect in the quality department. Plastic bezel, some wavy/uneven chasis and keyboard etc. If I had the option to do it again, it would come down to either the p35 or the blade no question most likely would spend the extra money and get a blade.
-
So sure, if build quality is very important to you then by all means get the 2015 Razer Blade, it looks great. However, I like having a ton of storage space and a dvd drive (hey some of us still need them at work). I like having a gtx980m that never seems to throttle (yes the cpu does, but not the gpu that I've ever seen). I even use the DSUB at work. I also think that while the P35X is nowhere near as nice looking as the Blade it looks pretty good
So, as always, buy the notebook that fits what you like/need best. -
-
-
What is the maximum temperature the 980m reaches during gaming at stock for you guys? And how is that temp with a +135mhz overclock? Does it throttle at all?
EDIT: And I'm talking about temps with the laptop flat on a table.

Did you check the testing of spark999 earlier in this thread? He did a thorough test on overclocking with clu. There was not any throttle of the 980m, only cpu.
-
Just letting you guys know my P35X V3 is _still_ out for repairs. Ridicoulus. I got the RMA number on the 3th on January, which means it has been broken for almost 2 months now.

Hello,
Thanks to everyone for the fantastic job on this thread!
I wanted to ask if there is a disassembly or repaste guide for the P35X?
Also, I could not boot from a (bootable) USB. Would someone be able to send a suggestion?

Too bad we lost so many pages of this thread to the forum change. Use to have like 200+ pages I believe.
EDIT: Smart Update has an update for itself
EDIT2: Update adds an "apps" tab in Smart Update. Not too useful, but has like 12 apps tile thingies for things like one drive, adobe reader, Lan optimizer (does this even really help?)Last edited: Feb 16, 2015joe17301 likes this. -

Just got word from Gigabyte/Aorus that they don't sell the battery separately.
I've just discovered it's just a big scheme to fool customers.
I will never buy a product from Aorus or Gigabyte.
If you are one of the poor victims of such criminal organization I recommend you file a lawsuit against them.
At least in the USA and UK you'll get your money back for sure. -
Edit: Re-worded.
