First time poster here, but I have been lurking for a while. Finally received my CF7 from XoticPC a little over a week ago. I had it repasted with ICD.

Overall, this is a great system. I don’t have any of the issues with the machine that are mentioned throughout the thread. I am on the latest BIOS.

The chassis doesn’t have any of the bowing that others have had. The laptop sits completely flat on flat surfaces.

The keyboard is pretty solid and doesn’t have any flex as have been reported on other machines.

The intel wireless has been flawless on the latest drivers. I have a netgear R7500 which has worked great with it, and it hasn’t had any issues with other wireless routers. No issues coming out of hibernate with the wireless.

I have the 4720Q undervolted -79mv, Aida64 stable and 10 hours Premiere Pro H.264 rendering stable. With the repaste, the temps are around 80-85C under full load. It will occasionally bounce up to 87-88C, and throttle 5% real quick, but it is not sustained.

I have the 980m overclocked +135 core and +450 mem, Furmark and Valley stable. The temps hover around 80-82C under full load. I am using 347.25 drivers, which are the latest that allow for overclocking that I am aware of. The overclock allows standard 1080p firestrike to score around 9100.

The repasting and the undervolting seem to have made all the difference in the temperatures across the board. The CPU temps were about 4-5C higher at full voltage. I will say that these tests were done with the back of the laptop propped a little. Putting it flat on the table raises all temps by 2-3C, so a cooling pad would most definitely help.

Anyone have experience with swapping out the oem msata with a larger replacement?

I want to basically do a drop in replacement of the single 128gb msata with a 512/500 msata. Is there any recommended utilities to clone the 128 onto the 512?

Also, could I use intel rapid storage to make the 128gb msata a cache for the 1tb internal hdd?

I'll recommend against using internal HDD as bootdrive, my serveral attempts all ended in failure, it will freeze within 5 mins after log in.

Yeah latest firmware etc. After some tweaking I managed to get the speed closer to my other devices but it still seems a bit slower (5-10% slower).. I'll keep testing.
I played dying light on all high settings I didn't really see any thermal throttling so I thought I won't need to re-paste.. until I play Far Cry 4 on all high settings lol. CPU easily reached 95C (Sometimes even 97). GPU was around 80-85. I tried undervolting, but CPU still manages to reach 95 easily, so I think I'll have to re-paste... Any recommendations for the thermal paste? I noticed a lot of people here used IC diamond... any others?

You'd have to look what people have been using here, I just used what I can get here which is Noctua NT-H1. I'd stay away from Liquid Pro and Liquid Ultra unless you're really good with them because of the danger of messing up your laptop. About 2 months after repasting my temps are still fine, they still get to 95 but average temps are in the high 70s low 80s for the CPU and high 70s for the GPU (I measure them with HWInfo64). I think average temps are more important than the peak temps.

I did read your question but I have no way of testing this, sorry :)

Yeah, I did some research and I think I'll go with Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme... In the meantime I've been using a cooling pad I had, seems to have lowered temps by about 5-10C

I have used IC diamond and Arctic silver 5 and the IC diamond works much better. It can cause some small scratches but does that really matter? The GPU has Nvidia engraved right on top of the Dais so i doubt a couple little scratches is going to cause any problems.

I have a question for fellow P35X V3 oweners: are you experiencing SATA 3 6Gbps speeds from the SSD tray? I have had enormous trouble with putting an SSD in the tray (system refuses to start up, takes 4+ minutes to start up, CRC errors on file transfers, etc). If I pull the tray all is fine. I had spoken to Gigabyte some time ago and been assured that the port for the tray was full speed SATA 3, but now to further compound my tray issues I am only seeing SATA 2 3Gbps speeds off the drive I currently have installed in the tray.

What about the gelid GC extreme? Does it pump out alot? According to reviews, it is the best performing non-conducting TIM out there...

Also, just to be clear: the 3k screen on this lappy is 60Hz right? I'm asking because I've seen lots of 48Hz 4k displays lately, which made me kind of worried...

Guys, is it recommended to take extended newegg warranty? and are there any frequent/common warranty problems P35X is facing with? and is the Gigabyte sticker on the top of the lid easily removable?

I don*t think that's do-able, there simply isn't much room in the thin chasis for mod works like that.

You could adding more holes on the bottom panel to (theoretically) increase the air intake, and replace the fans with higher rpm ones. Of course replacing the fans requires to remove the warranty stickers, thus likely to invalid your warranty.

I, for one, never bought any extended warrenty. As for the longevity of P35 v3, it is too early to tell. However, if you can get a good deal on the extended watrenty, then why not (I consider <10% of the cost of laptop a fair deal for warrenty).

and one more thing..newegg still has i7-4710 version.. so which one do you think is better to purchase? new version with i7-4720 or old one with i7-4710?

I'd spend them on SSD and RAM upgrades, but that's just me.

    3 ways.

1.) Recharge for 16+ hrs BEFORE using it.
2.) Recharge for 16+ hrs WHILE using it.
3.) Use up the precharged battery before recharge it.

Modern laptop batteries are quite forgiving, so it all comes down to your mindset.

Does this actually do anything? As far as I know LiOn batteries have no memory effect and this is ancient advice from the old NiCad battery days. In fact using up the whole battery to 0 is bad for it.

I've never done this with any laptop and I've got some that are over 5 years old and still going strong.

Whatever you want to do is up to you and probably won't make much difference but check it out online first :)

I haven't noticed anything special. CPU still reaches the temps others mentioned on the thread of the older versions (I have the CF7).. CPU Reached 95c while playing Dying Light on max (without a repaste). I'll repaste it next week and see how much it helps.

Hello guys, I have a P35XV3-CF4 RT, the truth is I am very satisfied with it.
I have all the official releases updated drivers.
However a few weeks I'm having BSOD when I put the machine stand by. I think this happens when I put the machine on stand by being plugged, unplugged and then turn it on.
    Any ideas on this issue??
    Oh! I was forgetting ...
Another issue: many times, when I start the system, the audio does not work. I must restart windows ... any idea also for this?

How did you undervolt? did you do it in the bios? I tried using Intel's XTU, and lowered the Dynamic CPU voltage offset and processor cache voltage offset to -125mv for both, and stress tested it while with the same program just fine for 2 hours on AC. The highest temperature the CPU reached was 65c but that doesn't seem correct. But the problem is when not plugged in and on power saver its only stable up to -80mv. I also repasted with IC Diamond. Do you have any suggestions?

    Guys need some help here,

Ready to buy P35X with 3K screen. But dont want to get stock SSD and RAM, as I have my own 2X256 SSD and 16gb 1866 mhz Ram. So, thinking to get 2k screen and replace with the 3k screen.
How viable do you think is that option? I saw few 3k screens on ebay and alibaba (WX16T028J00)?
Is the quality of those screen on par with Stock ones?
Is it easy to replace screen on my own? or can I send to XoticPC to replace it?
and finally, other than 100mhz increase in speed is there any difference in 4710 vs 4720? and also, 4710 produces less heat right?

    link to replacement screen

Please reply what you guys think. Thank you

Look in this thread, we've discussed the BSOD problem being caused by the wifi driver.

If the audio doesn't work, try running Smart Manager. I had a problem where there'd be no sound sometimes until I ran Smart Manager. And no, uninstalling Smart Manager didn't fix it.

PS: Is it just me or is editing via mobile broken on these forums? When I press backspace it duplicates the word :/

Does anyone have troubles refitting the bottom panel?

I have a P35G V2 (pretty much same chassis AFAIK) and I noticed that the bottom casing doesn't sit completely flush with the other half. There are slight 1-2mm gaps that are very prominent on the left side of the laptop.

I've taken it apart quite a few times and not had that problem myself. The one thing I did notice was that you have to line it up just right and click certain parts into place, and also be careful that the wire next to the battery isn't sticking out :)

I had read, but presumably with the latest update of the wifi driver would have to be solved the problem ... Right?
I'll try turning off the wifi before putting into Standby. Does it sound logical to you?

    Thanks! I'll try!

If anyone has any other ideas will be welcome.
I suspect it may also be a BIOS problem ...? ... Was the last thing I upgraded ... I do not know if I could go back ...

I went ahead and purchased the crucial mx200 500gb msata: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RQA6GF0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=kawai-20

Like jiexi says, try getting the BIOS from the gigabyte website. Good luck man, I don't know what more I can say.
