What's your plan for your mx200? I'm going to copy my 128gb into the mx200, make the mx200 the primary, use the 128gb as cache for the hdd.
EDIT: Can someone do the following for me? I'm trying to test Intel's collage mode which merges multiple displays into one large one much like Nvidia's surround and AMD's eyefinity.
Plug in some external monitor(s).
Open Intel HD Graphics Control Panel
Click the Display tile
In the top left corner, Click Display and Select Multiple Displays from the dropdown menu.
Select Collage
Select Enable
Click Apply
Does it merge your monitors into one large one? It doesn't work for meLast edited: Mar 4, 2015 -
Does anyone know if the the SSD tray (the tray that replaces the DVD tray) has SATA 3 6Gbps speeds? I am only seeing SATA 2 3Gbps speeds off the drive I currently have installed in the tray (an 850 EVO, which should be faster). Gigabyte technical support at first claimed that the tray was SATA 3, but now say that they don't know for sure. Would really appreciate it if anyone else with one of these machines could check the speed of the tray. It can be viewed in the Intel Rapid Storage tray utility (will list drive speeds). Thanks.

I finally re-pasted my CF7 today (using Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme) and it didn't help as much as I had hoped. After undervolting about -60 and lowering multiplier to 29x, I get around 83-85c for my cpu (rarely peaks to 91-92) while playing Dying Light @ 1080p and all settings on high. It's def. better as I haven't had any thermal throttling since I re-pasted but I hoped to get the results some others here in the thread reported (75-80)... I'll keep tweaking the cpu multiplier etc to see if I can lower it some more.

How is everyone else finding their laptop build quality?
I have a P35G V2. Owned it for about three weeks now.
1) Paint on the corner edges are slowly coming off already
2) Laptop seems to be uneven around the palm rest area resulting in the bottom right of the touchpad rising up 1-2mm
3) After taking off the bottom cover for a repaste, I haven't been able to put it back flush no matter how many times I've tried
4) The cover for one of the screen hinges is coming apart (but not the actual metal hinge, thank god)
Not sure what I should be doing. If I send it in to Gigabyte, it'll probably take weeks for me to return it.. considering they're all cosmetic issues, I think I can just deal with it or sell it off.
I've babied this laptop. It's only been used on a desk, and I always carried it around in the notebook compartment of my bag without dropping it.
I'm a little disappointed to say the least. -
BTW, v2 was the last generation model, the current ones are v3, are you sure you have a v2?
RegardsLast edited: Mar 6, 2015 -
I posted here as my model and yours are essentially the same chassis as far as I know.
That and the P35G V2 thread is long dead.
Maybe I have a lemon. -
What is everyone's undervolt values for CPU, Ram, and Graphics in XTU? Are you guys running the same voltage for all 3, or only CPU?
-
It would seem either you had a bad luck, or the v2 have different finish.
Regards -
The monitor cover itself is fine, it's just the hinge cover is loose. It moves towards the inside of the laptop rather than staying centered. -
I'ts ok? because in your link I only can get: 17.13.11. 5
I'm using BIOS FC08 / F008, and wifi: 17.13.11. 5 and still have BSOD when standby....
I sent an e-mail to GIGABYTE support...
Someone tried wifi intel 17.14.0 Date: 01/26/2015?
-
What kind of repaste techniques are you guys using? I just repasted twice using the spreader, was expecting better temps. What kind of temps are you guys getting also? I was 52 idle.

Let us know what Gigabyte support says. -
I don't post much to forums, but lots of people on this thread deserve my thanks. I recently received by P35x v3 cf7 and running full tilt the CPU was at 95 degrees C. Even after undervolting, no real difference. And this laptop is LOUD. louder than I thought. Disappointingly so. But I didn't give up. Liquid pro to the rescue. Now the stress test is running at 70 degrees C and the fans have barely kicked on.
I'm very excited.
Thanks again,

Although right now I'm fighting a BSOD when placing the laptop on standby, I am also more than happy with this computer. I hope to sooner or later solve this problem drivers. But the truth is that the P35x v3 is an excellent laptop in design and speed, it's worth spending money. I think I did a great buy!
1) could you put the link of the product you bought (liquid pro)?
2) you placed yourself?
3) easy to do?
4) there is a tutorial on the web?
5) I understood that went from 95º to 70º C with the liquid, I understood correctly? -
And yes, 95º to 70º C, actually with a little more testing it is 73º C with just a CPU test and 83º C under a maxed out game. Probably because one heat sink and two sources of heat. But in either case, no throttling.
Here are some links about Coollaboratory's Liquid Pro.

Yes, I did the repasting myself. It is risky. You are taking apart your computer and applying a material around extremely sensitive components. Anyone can do this but you have to be careful and even then you are risking an extremely expensive laptop. So do your homework. In the 3 months I waited for my laptop I was able to review almost all of this forum and numerous youtube videos. Great how-to stuff. I knew how to repaste, but there are numerous videos for that too. However, last night I was unable to find the right video and winged it.
I defer to those sources for how to videos, but I here are the gotcha's I ran into.
- There are 4 different screws on the back of the laptop. Keep them separate and replace them correctly. There are symbols next to the screw holes that will help.
- I remember a warning about a wire that is connected to the back panel. There are TWO wires. Both have plugs and are easy to disconnect and reconnect. Take the time to write down the orientation of the plug and determine how the wire needs to be coiled back up.
- No need to remove the fans, but in hindsight, it might have made installation easier.
- There are 6 to 8 screws with large heads that hold the heat sink down. Those screws are held in place even if you unscrew them all the way. Handy.
- Be really careful with the old paste cleanup. I had xoticpc do a repaste and they made the mistake of laying it on really thick. The entire purpose of paste is to allow the heat sink to touch the top of the chips, and to fill in where there are microscopic grooves and ridges that would not normally touch. You are just trying to get better surface connection. Less is better.
- Liquid pro is the hardest paste I've worked with, but as they say in there videos it is easy if you take your time at it.
- When putting the heat sink back on you want to lay the heat sink back down as carefully as possible so you don't run the paste across any other surface. This was really hard to do because of 2 plastic flaps on the fins of the heat sink that had to go under the fans. Seriously, under the fans. Those same plastic flaps if not under the fans could block the fan. Getting those flaps under the fans and not moving the heat sink around too much was difficult. Hence my earlier statement, it may be worth it to remove the fans first.
- Tighten the screws t the heat sink and the back of the laptop like you would for an engine block. Tighten each screw a little bit at a time and then go back and tighten them all a little more, again and again until the screws are all tight. This allows the parts to connect correctly.

Your reply is really great! It is certainly a delicate job! but a decrease of 22 ° C is no small thing! I think it's worth.
Certainly I'll see other videos before putting his hand on my computer, as you suggest.
Only one more question: when you open the laptop to do this job, the guarantee is void?
Anyway, thanks again for taking the work of a detailed answer. I hope it will be useful to other guys in the forum to take forward this. -

Hello guys,
I just tried to install windows 7 and I did it but after I disabled the UEFI and remove the secure boot but now in every boot the boot menu show up and tell me to choose from where I want to boot and does not boot automatically to the disk I set it in the BIOS, it looks like a bios bug but not sure about it and I'm in the last version D09. Any idea? -
Ive had my P35 V3 since the beginning of December and only issue ive had is the occasional random double space. They told me they would fix it if I sent it in but it doesnt bother me enough to mess with it. I have my cpu at -.50 mV undervolt can go to -.70mV but I like to have the extra buffer just to be safe. Only laptop that I think would possibly suit my needs better would be the p34 v3 or the new Razer blade neither of which were availiable at the time I purchased this laptop. So overall I am very satisfied with my Gigabyte thus far. Battery also seems to be holding up surprisingly well, when I unboxed the laptop HW monitor showed 2% battery wear, it still shows the same 2% 4 monthes later. Wifi and Bluetooth both work great, 1080 screen looks crisp and clear, only issue is that it looses a great deal of brightness when viewed from wide angles however at full brightness this isnt much of an issue.
As for thermal paste, IC diamond is simply the best. Yes it can cause some surface scratches but if it keeps the components cooler I dont mind. How is a small scratch going to effect anything when the GPU has Nvidia engraved all the way across its surface?Arthedes likes this. -
Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. Since there are several possibilities may cause the problem you mentioned, kindly make sure you haven't tried to modify the OS and installed all the product drivers properly. If you have self-upgraded memory, HDDs, please try to install original peripherals which come with this laptop to see if the problem still remains or not.
If you have confirmed that the system is using genuine and non-modified OS, in order to clarify the problem is not caused by utility or applications, you may use the Smart Recovery to restore your system to the factory default by pressing "F9". Before you restore system, please back up your personal data.
Meanwhile, please kindly note that if your OS has been re-installed or the partition has been changed, the recover options will no longer be available and a recovery service will be needed. Therefore, please contact with your vendor for further help. As we have provided Smart Recovery build in the laptop, we are sorry that we do not provide extra recovery CD to the end user.
However, if the problem still remains, please take your product with the purchase receipt and contact your supplier(where you bought your product) or near service center for further assist. You can click here to check out the warranty service center contact information.
Kindly note: Please do NOT take any action (send out the product or visit our service center directly) before contact our service center. If you do not contact our service center to get further information, our staff will not be able to proceed the case. We appreciate your cooperation.
Regards,
GIGABYTE
It would be very unfortunate to have to use the USB recovery ... but I do not have many ideas ... and no standby use is really a serious obstacle ...
This was my response:
"kindly make sure you haven't tried to modify the OS and installed all the product drivers properly."
I did not modify the original operating system.
"If you have self-upgraded memory, HDDs, please try to install original peripherals which come with this laptop to see if the problem still remains or not."
I do not know the answer either. My native language is Spanish. Sorry.
I do not understand you mean by this: "self-upgraded memory, HDDs". Memory is the original, the hard drive is original. I added, upon receipt, an external disk instead of DVD. But I had no problems with it since December.
A few weeks ago began these problems already referred.
I made no significant change recently off then updated drivers.
I did not add on new peripherals. The problem started from any of the updates of drivers.
The drivers have I been updated via "Smart update"
I do not want to have to resort to the extreme measure of using Smart Recovery ...
Thanks!Last edited: Mar 9, 2015 -

My sister also bought a P35X-V3 and has the same problem with the W and N keys. We both ordered from XoticPC around the same time, so it might just a bad batch. :/ -
God wants me avoid what has happened to you with the keyboard! ... I think I prefer my problem of not being able to use the standby :S -

Whenever I re-installed using Smart Recovery it didn't fix the BSOD problem. Maybe if you re-installed and didn't update the wifi drivers? I hope you have good luck with Killer. The wireless and bluetooth sometimes aren't there when I come back from hibernate and I have to restart to enable them (sometimes running Smart Manager works). I want to keep wireless AC so I'm still deciding what to get.
To all those having keyboard problems I agree, it sucks that this laptop has so many darn design and build quality issues. The laptop is great otherwise, really enjoying using it and the 3K screen helps a lot with work. I've even started using it without scaling because some Windows apps still don't work right
In other news, I re-installed windows 8.1 recently and found out the key in my BIOS got corrupted. Microsoft says I need to send it in to gigabyte and gigabyte says they can fix it but I'd have to send it in. I'm rather going to just keep it for a while and send it in before the 2-year warranty is up
Just a warning to anyone messing with the BIOS, be careful.arpas likes this. -

arpas, thanks for your fast response regarding the SSD tray, and sorry for taking so long to respond! You were super close, you just have to select the drive on the right and then click "advanced". I've pasted a screenshot below showing my results. I can confirm that my SSD tray is giving me intermittent 6Gb/s speeds. This is in some ways more worrisome than consistent 3Gb/s speeds. Is anyone else having trouble with their SSD tray? It might not be obvious at first, I only noticed this tray issue because my Samsung EVO ssd wasn't playing nice with Windows ( http://www.overclock.net/t/1542817/...or-problems-with-samsung-850-evo-ssds-updated). After running some benchmarks it turned out that there were an abnormally high number of CRC errors (data being corrupted during transfer) with my tray ssd. Not exactly what I want to be seeing on a brand new machine.
Gigabyte is being extremely slow/difficult on getting me a replacement (they basically don't want to send me another tray/order any new trays, and instead want me to send the laptop in for god know's how long for a warranty repair on what might otherwise be fixable with a $4 user-replaceable part). For the price of the machine I would expect better service!

That's enough for you?
I saw my drive also says 6 Gb/s That's bad?
The truth is I do not quite understand your question. Partly because my native language is Spanish ...
But I regret the difficulties you have.
Finally, if you need anything else, or some other test, tell me (and tell me how...).
******EDIT*******
I did a disk check and told me everything was OK.

Hope someone can help! Basically, I updated my 980M vbios using Prema's modded Clevo bios without first backing mine up (IDIOT!). Now my GPU clock is locked at 405MHz so need someone to backup and share their P35x v3 980M vbios using NVFlash...
Please help as I'm desperate (and an idiot)! -
I decided to buy this.
If anyone has anything to say about it, you are welcome.
Look at this beautiful comment:
Awesome.

Super fast shipping. Came with a plastic case and was wrapped in bubble wrap and taped. The plastic case was not even dented, meaning it was packaged perfectly. .... Great connection speeds, awesome distance of connectivity, and the bandwidth optimization software bundled with the driver is great.
*****EDIT********
Only one important question: if I replace my wifi card, I lose 2 year warranty ???Last edited: Mar 10, 2015 -
PS. To do this, you need to disable your 980m in Device Manager and run the following command from wherever NVFlash is located:
nvflash --save test.rom
NVFlash can be downloaded from:
