Right, I spent quite a lot of time comparing settings between D09 and D0A and I can't find any differences. In other words, the thermal settings haven't changed so it must be something much more internal they've updated. Hopefully it's good news (maybe EC changed? who knows).

Anyone else having problems flashing? SmartFlash freezes for me after I click agree and flash. No progress bar, nothing.
The only changes I made since the last time it was working was that I added a new msata and copied all my partitions over from the stock msata and set the new msata as the boot drive. Is that seriously the issue?..

EDIT: Nevermind... It worked after I installed some windows updates.. I don't understand why, but whatever.

I don't know if it would make a difference by upgrading the bios, but it seems like i can undervolt a little more. From -79 to -86 on power saver.

My Samsung 840 EVO 1 GB only ran at 3 Gbps (before it blew up in the internal tray after writing half a TB in one session).
The 1 TB HDD runs at 6 Gbps, though.

    Hi ,
Can anybody point me in the right direction for changing the wireless card on the P35 for a killer wireless.
Bought one so may as well fit it.
Anybody had any experience swapping the wireless cards over ?
    Thanks

Hi Paul, I just bought this board ( Bigfoot Networks KillerN-1202).
I'm waiting that they sent me. But it will take ... because I live in Argentina ...
From what I read, the "killer" is the right to replace the damn intel 7260.
You can see this old post:
This guy is happy with "killer" wifi: link ( "it's real. i got a killer gaming wifi card and no more lagging on my games. i bet the bluetooth will be stable too now").
Other post about: link, link, link,
    There may be others. Look.
I got tired of trying all the drivers, install, uninstall, reinstall, etc.
Currently I have wifi problems with intel 7260, which does not allow me to put the laptop on standby! ( BSOD problems). Some sorted changing drivers. To me it did not help me that solution.
I do not know how difficult it is to place the new wifi card "killer" ... but ... I can not live anymore without the "stanby" function...
    Good luck!

I am running 344.75, which is the last version I am aware of to allow overclocking. If Nvidia unlocked it again with these new drivers, I may give them a shot.

I saw a version posted on amazon i cannot find anyone talk about. It says it has a i7-4702HQ instead of the 4710HQ.

    http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-P35XV3-CF2-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B00Q6FOSO2/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_i

I really want to get it since it has prime shipping and want to avoid waiting a few weeks for xoticpc. Was there any versions of the p35x v3 that are 970m instead of 980m? and with a 4702HQ?

edit: Also this one doesn't say anything about an IPS display either..

the cf5 with 980m is better (with price 2099 $) as this one with less ram (8 GB) and different processor model (4702), though I do not know if the difference in processor model will make too much difference in performance and heat.

Actually i noticed if you look at the bottom it says it has the i7-4710HQ in it.. strange,

As for the the RAM i already have an additional 8GB stick to throw into it for 16GB and same story with storage.

edit; just decided to call amazon. they talked to gigabyte and it has the 980m and 4710hq so that explains that.

Intel drivers automatically adjust brightness to save power, check to see if this setting is active for you.

Ok, so most of my previous issues were solved by trial and error.

Now its time to make a backup, just in case something goes wrong, so i dont have to reinstall all the deivers again.

I have ran some benchmarks already, and scores seem pretty normal. Though, msi afterburner indicates a core clock speed of only 540mhz when running benchmarks! This is plugged in. Whats going on?

EDIT: it only happens in ice storm, which also has a lowe score than usual. 3dmark 11 runs at 1127 and gets me 10900 points :)

Weird though: one of the fans started to make a kind of buzzing sound. Sounds like there is a peice of dust in there. Or maybe its a sign of a fan going bad?

Hmm there seems to be an issue here: max. 540mhz locked on certain benchies. Running the latest nvidia driver.

I will list results as follows: notebookcheck - my score - my core clock

    3dmark 11 standard: 10k - 10.9k - 1127
    Ice storm: 90k - 50k - 540
    Cloud gate: 20.6k - 19.6 k - 540
    ...
Actually, theres a lot of apps that only push the gpu to 540 mhz... Valley, heaven, to name a few. It does get good fps, though: valley ultra no AA native res (1620p) gets about 40 fps.

Maybe its the 347.88 driver thats causing this?

Also, I'm having wifi issues: sometimes after a cold boot, it wont recognise nearby wifi networks and say there are no networks in range, even though my Galaxy S3 an easily find them... If I then go to standby and out, it will connect to wifi...

WIFI driver: 16.5.3.6 (tried to update to version 17 via intel smart update (or whatever its called) and after saying it's succesfull and rebooting, it's still on driver version 16...)
BT driver: 17.1.1411.504 (updated to this via smart manager)

Did you guys have similar probelems? And if so, what did you do to fix them?

All wifi and lan problems were solved after manually uninstalling the old driver first and then installing the latest drivers manually.

Still have the afterburner bug, though it is fixed when I start afterburner after loading the 3d app i want to monitor. Also, even when afterburner is reporting only 540mhz, the actual clock speed is higher, as the performance is the same as when it is monitoring correctly.

So far I've managed these overclocks and Undervolts:
GPU: Core + 135 Mem +630 Stable in valley while running prime95 small FFT's and blend
CPU: core - 60mV cache -60mV Stable when running intel XTU or when running valley + prime95 small FTT's.

Problem is that sometimes this last UV gives a bsot when running valley + prime95 blend. Bsots are sometimes related to memory. I wonder if it's memory related or just voltage. prime95 blend + valley at stock cpu speeds with OC gpu seems to run just fine though...

    will post up on temps.

EDIT: valley runs at 77C gpu and 80C CPU max with UV CPU + OC GPU

I'm actually getting lots of BSOTs lately. Now, I am overlocked and undervolted, but i dont know for sure if that s causing it.

Revert your overclock. Thoroughly test your voltages, reduce it a little if you ever experience a bsod for any reason. Your 50 mv undervolt may not be stable. I'm stable around -50. I can do -70 on most things, but for some reason CSGO will bsod every couple of days if undervolted past -50, so in reality, it's not stable at -70 even though I wish it was.

    Yeah, I wish so too.

Dialled it back down to -55 and gpu mem oveeclock to 620 instead of 630, which doesnt give me errors or bsods on planetside 2. Funny how planetside 2 can cause the system to bsod with -60 after 10 minutes while prime95 + heaven runs you long time five dorrah.

Processor is the 4720hq btw, which *should* run at 2.6 and 3.6. This could also mean i could UV less than 4710hq users.

Now, if I dont experience problems with this uv+oc, its time to repaste this baby!

About repasting by the way: there are little thermal pads on the vrms around the gpu. When i repaste the cpu and gpu core, can I re-use those or do I need to replace those with new ones, too, for optimal results?

Also, do you guys know of any program that limits the battery charging to 80%? I almost always use the laptop plugged in, and when I leave home, I can do with 80% instead of 99% just fine. Leaving the battery at 99% wears it down much quicker than 80% when plugged in, do I'd rather have that.

Strange, because the the eurogamer reviews claims the exact same (at least regarding point (4)).

Which means the exact same, basically the cover from the hinge fell off (but the axis remained strong). Exactly the same as you said. Weird. So your case wasn't the only one with bad coating. Kinda offputting...

You can reuse them, BUT wait until the laptop cools down before removing the heatsink. Otherwise, the thermal pads have the consistency of a slice of cheese and may shift around and break.
This is controlled by bios, so you cannot change this unless gigabyte makes an option to change it.
