Is anyone else able to wake up their laptop from sleep using an external usb keyboard or mouse?

I think the hinge issue is related to the LCD bezel.

I swapped in a different screen (that required the bezel to be taken off and on) and the hinge fixed itself. The LCD bezel is actually slotted under the hinge, so I think the design is to be blamed.

New LAN drivers, Smart Update, and Smart Manager.

    Nothing new in Smart Update.

Smart Manager has a new "Blue killer" feature which seems to tint the screen green depending on the slider, not sure what the use of this is. Fan modes are no longer called stealth, low-speed, hi-speed, and max. Changed to eco, normal, turbo, xtreme. (I liked the original fan names more :()

what programs should i use to test both my cpu UV and gpu core and vram oc? Of course, now I will test them one at a time and it will take a few days to find a sweet spot, but I can't play planetside 2 for hours on nd to test stability. would prime95+valley be a good starting point? I need some tests i can run overnight.

On the gigabyte website, the new lan drivers are not there yet. Is it better to download via smart update or stick with the gigabyte website's versions?

Smart Update is fine to use. The website is never more up-to-date than Smart Update.

I find that benchmarks don't test stability very well. I ran Prime95 for a couple of hours with -70mv, and no bsod, but would get occasional bsod from csgo. I recommend you use your laptop normally, and if you ever bsod, reduce the undervolt.

Also, the bulge on the left sidde of the touchpad some people were complaining about is where the harddrive is installed. In my case, it came wothout a harddrive because I wanted to install my own SSD. I suspect the bulge is there because a 9.5mm drive is just too thick and it flexes the chassis as a result. My ssd was a 7.5mm, but in order to fit the bracket over it, i needed to install it with the 7.5 to 9.5mm bracket, thus making it thicker. This is a design flaw.

I cant remember if the bulge was there when I took it out of the box, though. But I will make sure to check whenever I take it apart again.

    Thank you for your tips!

Too bad the battery behaviour cannot be changed though. Do you have any tips to make it last longer (as in, more years), besides the common sens of "do not let ir run down to 0%" etc?

Currently, when I'm gaming it is plugged in constantly at 99%. I only take it off when I'm at home and not gaming, or when I take it with me to University (where it lasts through all my colleges, btw! very good!). Is this a good cycle to preserve battery health?

Does anyone know how to get smart USB backup to work? I upgraded mine with the 8.1 pro CD that was included and now whenever i try to run it, it just says, "backup process fail to run due to the current OS is not configured by GIGABYTE."

Guys I'm torn between a 1080p 128gb msata model for €1860 and a wqhd+ 256gb msata model for €2160. I would really really like the higher res screen for productivity I'm not sure if it's worth the €300 extra. I'm a student who works every weekend at a restaurant so €300 extra isn't a small amount of money to me. The SSD space isn't that important to me. How much extra would you pay for a wqhd+ screen?

If its possible to buy the 1080p model now and upgrade the screen to wqhd later I would love to do that as a wqhd+ panel only costs about €150.
What do you think? Is this a viable option?

Owners, do you think the screen is replaceable or is the screen assembly hold in place with adhesive?

So my P35 came with a 100-240 V adapter and the cable that runs from the wall outlet to the adapter is an american one. Luckily, Hidevolution included a universal wall plug converter for no charge (nice!). However, it is a bit bulky.

I have a spare cable from my old laptop's adapter lying around, which is a European plug. Can I plug that in to my adapter safely? (again, this is the cable that runs from the wall outlet to the laptop power brick. The female cable with the three prongs on the end) Difference is that my european cable is rated for (a maximum of?) 250V 25A and the US cable is rated for 125V 10A.

One pro of the european cable is that the ground wire does in fact make contact whereas the US cable doesn't.

If anyone has the time, please help me out. Just plug in a usb keyboard, put your computer to sleep, hit any key, and let me know if it wakes up your laptop. A bit stuck with gigabyte support right now.

I'm unable wake my laptop from sleep with USB devices as well. I researched several possible solutions on the internet and most of them involve opening the devices properties in the device manager and selecting an option on the Power Management tab to allow the device to wake the computer, but I don't see that tab on either of my devices.

I'm running Windows 8.1 on mine so I'm wondering if it my might an issue with the OS and am considering installing a copy of Windows 7 that I have from previous OS and seeing if that fixes the Issue. But I'd still like to know if any one has successfully awoken their laptop with an external USB mouse too. I'm beginning to fear it may be an issue with the hardware and there may be no real fix for it, which would suck...

I'll let you know if I found anything out.

    Same, no power options tab.

This is the weirdest thing ever. The laptop will not resume from sleep if the internal keyboard is pressed and the laptop lid is not opened past the point that it resumes normally. Power button will not work if the lid is not opened enough either.

To test this: put your laptop to sleep and close the lid. open the lid only enough to stick a finger in from the side to hit any of the keys on the keyboard. Don't open it enough to wake the laptop though. No matter what keys you press (even the power button), the laptop will not resume from sleep when the lid is not open past a certain point.

Now open your laptop lid all the way (if your laptop wakes from sleep, put it back in sleep, but leave the lid open this time). Press any key. Tada, your laptop wakes up like normal.

Pretty sure all p35x come with IPS panels.

Try going to device manager, right clicking the killer device under networking devices, update drivers, select the directory with the drivers from the dell download.

Crosspost from the P34 thread. I ahve a P34W laptop with the Geforce 970M and I encountered a problem.

Today I started my laptop after not using it for 2 days. It was going out of hibernating mode and during startup I noticed a flickering pattern of white dots in a line across the screen above the Gigabyte logo. First thing I thought "is my GPU already going bad?" But I only saw it at that time. Not in Windows, not after reboots and not while gaming. Did someone encounter a similar issue?

I did some Furmark stresstesting, no issues there, Intel HD graphics memory test also didnt give any errors. Videogames do not cause errors.

Yes, I was able to get the Panasonic panel that comes with the 3k version and I replaced it, if I´m not mistaken the model is: Panasonic VVX16T028J00. It worked nice and no issues. Although the disassemble of the screen border was a little painful lol but not issues and no broken pieces.

Awesome! I planned on doing this myself but was a little discouraged when i recieved the laptop. I thought it was impossible to do it without damage because the screen assembly seems to be held in place with adhesive, is that so? Or is it more like a popping mechanism?

Actually yes, it is a combination of adhesive and clips, I had some adhesive that I used for other projects, and in some areas I used it to make sure it was properly held in place again. I noticed a couple of clips that help it to stay in place also. I got the adhesive at home depot some time ago, it is a really thin adhesive that does not transfer heat in case you want to give it a try.

    Hi folks,

P35X v3 CF1 (Overclockers edition with the 4860HQ) owner here, since almost day 1!

There is a couple of questions that are a bit annoying for me on how the laptop behaves.

    - Sometimes there is no sound on the speakers after boot or after wake up. I have to mute and lower the volume to get it work again.
    - Wi-Fi is not enabled when boot.

Is there any fix or is it a known problem? The laptop is not faulty, it looks the volume thing is a Windows issue, and the Wi-Fi thing looks some misconfiguration.

    Thanks

    Hey Guys,

I am now looking to move over to Windows from my Macbook Pro 2009, i can't stand the thought of planting 2k+ for a Macbook which tech is no where near where it should be!

So I am looking at this, I know you all here love your laptops, but is this still the best of the market at the moment for a 15" gaming laptop with a slim line style?

Just wanted to check before I buy the CF4 from Overclockers. This is a Company Laptop so I have a budget of 2k and want the best I can get for that cash :). Thank you Guys!!!

This doesn't have as much battery life as a Mac. I can't imagine you would need this sort of power in a laptop unless you are using it for production or gaming as well.

Thanks mate, I am mainly looking for the best bang for buck! I don't really use the laptop out of the house a lot but do move it around occasionally from office to lounge etc. So battery is not a concern, I do game occasionally.

I am just after the best bang for buck laptop for £2000 really lol.

I am looking at this laptop for mixed gaming and work. Couple questions:

    1. Anyone have issues with 3k scaling in PowerPoint?
    2. The keyboard flex- is it mostly in gaming or is it uncomfortable to type on?

    Thanks!

Now, of course i dont know what kind of job you have, but honestly i don't think this would be a good "business" laptop...I just dont think its durable enough for that.

When i think off what i do with my company laptop - constantly opening, closing, going to meetings, holding it at a corner with one hand to show something to a developer, constantly in and out of a bag filled with all sorts of stuff, or just slamming the lid after a frustrating days work ;)

I couldn't imagine doing that with my P35X

Thanks- my laptops are fairly pampered. They spend most of their time in a sleeve in my bag -only pulled out for projects, paper writing, PowerPoint presentations, light video editing, occasional screwing off while other people are giving presentations :)

-Any thoughts on typing for a while on the keyboard? Does it suck or is it manageable?
-anybody know anything about how PowerPoint handles 3k/4k screens?

The keyboard is pretty good. Of course for being a gaming laptop I feel like something a bit better would be great, but it is good and when not playing (the P35 is my only PC) and doing other stuff the keyboard feels completely OK.

Regarding powerpoint, I am afraid I cannot help. I don't use it at all.

And quoting Qyyz, are you sure that a laptop with a 980M and a work based in "paper writing, PowerPoint presentations, light video editing, occasional screwing off while other people are giving presentations" is your best bet? I would go for this P35X as a desktop replacement and have a secondary, lighter, laptop for travelling around.

Hey guys, looking at this laptop as well right now. Does the laptop ever throttle due to heat? How warm does it get? How is the keyboard flex? Getting this purely to game and surf the web.

It gets hot. Playing with the laptop on your lap gets very unconfortable. Normal use, it is completely fine and it doesn't get hot at all.

There is thermal throttle as per the Intel Extreme tool, but nothing noticeable on games so far, at least for me.

The keyboard is more than acceptable.
