Has anyone seen a fix to the issue where sound gets stuck on the headphone jack unless you power down the laptop entirely and disconnect it from AC, and boot it back up? I've only had it happen twice in about 10 months but would be great if there was an official fix out.

The HDMI and DisplayPort are connected directly to the dGPU, so anything connected to those would be using the gtx1060

I've never had this issue. What driver version are you running for the Realtek High Definition Audio speakers?

I just got an Aero 14. What should I do to check for defects? How loud is it supposed to be when its idle or have a few tabs open? Should you be able to hear the fan or is that not normal?

I'm not home at the moment but the version is newer than what smart update shows for sure.

It happens on other gigabyte laptops as well. Seems to be most likely to crop up if I close the lid before unplugging my headphones. When it wakes back up its sort of stuck.

I don't use wired headphones but bluetooth ones, so i cannot say about this pb, but mine is very similar:

time to time I have no sound from loudspeakers, and i need to shut down and restart the laptop (hibernate mode works) to recover sound from loudspeakers.

    and also:

    - scrolling lags when reading a PDF, compared to HTML scrolling that is soooo fluid/smooth

-track-pad not very sensible for precised movement, for example impossible to select at the first shot the letter "l" or "i" in a word, need to do 2 movement (left then right or the opposite) as the first movement is registered only after a long way of the finger on the track pad

Please comment if you do/not have those issues

And how to contact gigabyte support ??

To contact gigabyte support. Go here.
    http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Technical-Support

I do not have sound issue or track-pad issue like you described. It is actually even better now that I have windows precision on but even without it I thought it was fairly good enough on its own. It also does not lag with scrolling but I think it might be something with the program maybe since you said scrolling is nonissue with browsing.... I use Adobereader/Edge/Drawboard for pdf and all of them work fine.

Has anyone used the Asus ZenDisplay MB16AC ( https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/MB16AC/ )?
I just ordered this, and I feel like the USB C port on our Aeroes don't have DP Alt, so wanted to know what the downsides are.

    Thanks!

I have the MB16AC. It works great on the USB C port once you get DisplayLink installed.

Thanks for the info. I got it to run without the display link software, though it runs at regular USB mode.
It initially says DP-Alt isn't supported, but then switches to USB mode :)

Does this mean that when I use the HDMI output I will be using the NV card and if I am using DP I will be using Intel?

Between internal and external monitor? About 1/4 battery life with ext monitor

has anyone updated the latest drivers for the GPU's? The Gigabyte smart update shows older drivers.

    I had now several BSOD's

And once I installed the realtech HD audio driver, the window sound dialog pop's up after every reboot. Did a clean reinstall of WIN10 and it happend after I installed the audio driver.

    Awesome find!
Unfortunately, it looks like they don't have the original bios for the aero 14 skylake. This explains why the gigabyte support guy has yet to receive a response from the gigabyte HQ about the BIOS file.... Most likely that they don't have it anymore.

Well I also had couple BSODs before with POWER_STATE_DRIVER_FAILURE. It did not occur again tho. I assumed that was because I turned off sleep and hibernate. Also I am using the latest driver.

I've been having wifi disconnect issues that I assumed were related to my access point for months. I see WHEA-logger events for the PCIe port that the wifi card is on that started at the end of June, wifi lately has become almost unusable in the last few days. The device constantly resets itself while in use. It is not uncommon to start a task after returning to my desk just to have the wifi card reset itself in the middle of whatever I am doing and making me lost all my sessions.

Does anyone know if the card is built into the motherboard or if it can be reseated/replaced?

The issue could be hardware or software related. I'd recommend running msconfig, disabling all Microsoft services and then disabling all services and rebooting to isolate the culprit. If you avoid any BSOD's when everything is disabled, then it's a matter of finding that one issue causing the headache. My approach is to enable ten services at a time and then reboot to find the culprit and keep track of what is still working in a text file.

Of course, if you have BSOD's with everything disabled then it's hardware related. Send it in, get it fixed.

Last time I did a recovery only, I now did a fresh re-install of WIN 10. Gigabyte support = No response.

Lets see how long until the next one.

Another very annoying thing is that the Laptop just cant remember my screen settings. I am using 4-5 differnt screens and a lot of times I have to log out as Windows just cant remeber my settings

Has anyone else had issues with brightness controls not working? I just realized that none of the software controls or hardware keys work to adjust brightness.

If I click the battery icon the brightness control there is greed out and says 0.

Trying a full Uninstall of the Intel display driver, and reinstall of the smart update version now.

I ended up fully Uninstall in both the intel and nvidia drivers, and rebooting.

This let windows reinstall its embedded driver for the intel 530 which allows brightness control again.

Yeah, definitely do not update to the new Intel drivers, just use the one from Smart Update (which is quite a few versions behind). Anything other than that version breaks brightness control on the Skylake Aero 14.

and what happened a few days now later. Again BSOD

Reinstalled WIN 10 from scratch and still BSOD, this time Nvidia and all upddates from SmartUpdate.

First time GigaByte customer, never again. My Lenovo y900 for half the price never had one BSOD!

Uninstalled the newest and installed from Smartupdate. Just took now over 1h just to download the drivers through SmartUpdate, which is a joke, too.

Probably wrong forum to ask, but I'll try...

Just got a new Logitech MX Ergo mouse. I noticed that the mouse works perfectly under Windows, however it will occasionally lag under Ubuntu. SO annoying. I have previously noticed that BT is bad under Ubuntu, but not that bad -- the mouse is right next to the computer!

Any ideas how to fix sucky bluetooth under Ubuntu?

I had a bsod while removing the nvidia driver too.

I'd recommend that you try swapping out ram since it's basically the only thing you can do to troubleshoot. If it continues you're probably due for a warranty replacement because of some hardware issue that's built in.

Can't you just use the unifying receiver? I have a couple mx anywhere mice and don't use the Bluetooth because it feels a less precise for some reason.

There are a TON of threads about Linux BT issues with the Intel 8260/8265 under dual boot setups with no clear answers. I'm surprised you have BT working at all in Linux based on almost every thread saying they can't even get Linux to bring BT online at all.

You could always try another wifi/BT adapter out. I was thinking of buying an atheros based one with mu-mimo as an upgrade.

By "another BT adapter", do you mean an external (USB) one?
Of course, I could use the unifying receiver. However, if you only got 3 USB ports, it's always nice to use other connectivity options like bluetooth.

BT "worked" straight out of the box, BTW. Even Wifi is decently stable nowadays on Ubuntu. Thank you for the hint about the chipset, from some commands it seems to be a "Intel Corporation Wireless 8260" chip. I'll try to google about that.

The wifi and Bluetooth are on the same card. You could buy a new card for around 20 bucks to swap to a different chipset that might have better Linux driver support.

Thank you for the continued support! :D
Coming from an Apple laptop, the thought of swapping out the network card in a laptop boggles my mind, haha!

Do you happen to know what kind of connector and size I would need? I will start my own research too.
What about the windows side of things... if I just plug a new network card, I will probably be missing drivers. Since it's the Wi-Fi card, I would probably install them using another computer and a USB stick, right?
Can it cause problems with the BIOS? As you see I'm totally inexperienced with swapping anything else than RAM / the harddisk.

Do you intend to use it under Linux as well? I googled for Qualcomm Atheros under Linux, and I can find BT not working for as many people as with the Intel chipset... At least Intel has an official Linux firmware website! Getting better answers here than on the Ubuntu forums BTW... ^^

I'd run Linux in a VM as needed. I wasn't aware that Intel was making official drivers for Linux these days. Going back years I've always seen atheros work better under Linux.

It looks like system76 uses Intel wifi so I'd assume they have intel BT as well. I'm a bit stumped and would only try Linux out myself over here if I had a second m.2 drive to swap in.

    Just fyi:
there is an updated USB Controller driver available at Station-Drivers that is even more recent than the Dell one:
    http://station-drivers.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=353&func=fileinfo&id=3079&lang=fr

Plus, there is a firmware update available that will update our controller.
The new version (it updates to) is 150707_30_02 _10, whereas my fully up-to-date device had 150707_30_02_00 before.
You can find the latest firmware here:
    http://www.station-drivers.com/inde...sm-1142-firmwares&catid=16&Itemid=171&lang=fr

    Enjoy :)
