According to "Smart Update", my BIOS is at version FB0E/F008, which should be the latest and greatest.

Today, I've updated the Intel HD Graphics 630 drivers to 24.20.100.6229. Hopefully, this will improve stability regarding the graphics issue (although I'm always running with "second screen only" and the second screen is using the nvidia GPU but who knows, maybe theses two systems need to interact still).

So does that mean that you can use the XMP profile with the 15x v8? Or does this mean that this memory will not work?
(Looking into getting a F4-3000C16D-32GRS pair for my 15x v8, as the F4-2666C18D-32GRS doesn't seem to be available anywhere)

    Thanks!

I believe this has been discussed earlier in the thread, but it is true that just about everybody can hear an audible electrical noise underneath the right side of the keyboard when you set the laptop to run in performance mode? When set to balanced mode or even power saving mode, there is no electrical noise. But when set to performance mode, and with the CPU constantly running around 3.9 to 4.00 GHZ in the task manager, there is a fairly audible electrical noise that can be heard in quiet rooms. Anything to worry about?

    AERO 15 (i7-7700HQ) here.

So I updated my BIOS today, to FB0E/F008. While I was at it, I decided to update Smart Manager (7.4.3 from Gigabyte's support page for my model). It switched to Chinese. So I reinstalled, it was back to English, but it got rid of my settings. Spend a little bit getting that fixed up.

So of course, since this thing has been a never-ending cycle of troubleshooting, I now have to figure out why they keyboard backlight has started randomly turning off and on again. No rhyme or reason to when it decides to turn off or on.

I updated to the latest version of Gigabyte Fusion (4.3.6 from Gigabyte's support page for my model).

Has anyone encountered issues with the keyboard backlight turning off and on for seemingly no reason? They keyboard lighting is one of the few things about this laptop that hasn't caused me any grief, until today.

There is much talk about undervolting but every time I try undervolting through XTU or Thottlestop, my CPU gets stuck at a certain clock speed tied to the power level.

At battery saver the clock speed it stuck at 1.7 ghz
At Balanced its stuck at 2.7 ghz
and at High performance its at 3.9 - 4 ghz
doesnt matter if I have a stress test running or absolutely minimal apps running. to fix it I have to clean install windows and delete the UEFI partition to clear the settings

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello everyone! I'm posting for the first time here. Got my hands on the Aero 15W V8 yesterday and I've noticed that the shift key has been replaced and it is now only the arrow instead of 'SHIFT'. The light on shift key is same just like other keys. Maybe Gigabyte has replaced the shift keys on the newer units. Btw the unit I received have LG-Philips panel & V-Color ram.

Apart from this I've two problem.
    1) During my Unigine Valley Benchmark I got around 20~25fps & it was dipping below 10fps occasionally on ultra preset with 2x msaa. My charger was disconnected & I was on 'Auto' battery mode with around 60% battery. Fan mode was set to Gaming. Is this what I was supposed to get or am I doing anything wrong?

    2) I've seen that my ram was running at around 1333mhz. Is there any work around to bump up the frequency to 2666mhz?

Also, should mention that the aero 15x and most gaming laptops do not have the proper amount of wattage to push all the components at its peak capacity.

With that said, the battery pack on the laptop is what 92 whrs?

On full load this laptop requires about 180w - 200 w to run the GPU and CPU at full speed.

I was wondering the same thing when i bought this.

Upon doing more research this is what i have concluded.

I really wished also i could play like battlefiled 4 while on the train, but alas, that dream is still far away.

    hi everyone !

I received my Aero 15x and find the same issues

    - I made clean install Windows w main drivers from Intel, Nvidia and The Gigabyte Fusion, but combination w FN buttons doesn't work. Does someone know how to fix it ?
    - my laptop got a sleep and I can't wake it up.

I made undervolting w XTU and it's really awesome, the temperature has decreased at 8 °C

So I have had my AERO-15xv8 since the release date, so far no complaints.

    • The chassis was overly tightened at first as it was bit difficult to plug in usb's. I've never bought a windows laptop so I wasn't sure if it was normal. For the most part it took like 2 months of plugging and unplugging for it to go away. (don't have to hold on to the laptop to disconnect usb now).
    • noticed the touchpad sinks in to the bottom right/doesn't seem flush with the rest of the touchpad ( seems like chassis is a bit loose or overly tightened somewhere near the front palm rest idk).
    • Frequently used keys tend to squeak

anyone have any tips for the squeaking keys without having to manually remove them, I tried air compressor but it didn't seem to solve the issue.

hey guys ! I wanna make spreadsheet w variety results of undervolt CPU and GPU. I will share it w you.

If someone made undervolt CPU and GPU, could you please PM me answers for the following questions:

    - Aero version (15 or 15x)
    - Intel XTU or Throttlestop
    - CPU your voltage offset
    - CPU Temperature after undervolt in Celsius (approximately and full load)
    - CPU Max Clock
    - GPU your voltage offset
    - GPU Temperature after undervolt in Celsius (approximately and full load)
    - GPU default voltage (full load)
    - GPU default clock (full load)

    Example (it's not my results):

    Aero 15x
    Intel XTU + MSI Afterburn
    -0.150 v
    45°C and 70°C
    3990 Mhz
    -0.020 v
    30°C and 72°C
    0.890 v
    1500 Mhz

For find all of value you should use HWiNFO64 (sensor only). I would really appreciate any help ! It would help decide do or not undervolt.

    P.s. sorry for my english.

    Hey guys.
Having a tough time choosing between the Aero 15 and the GS65.
Because I'm in such a dillema i'm starting to take all the factors into consideration.
One thing that always seemed like the GS65 beat the Aero in was the RGB lightning, but no review actually showed the effects for the Aero 15x.
I'd love it if a generous owner could record some pretty looking, reactive effects and upload them for me to see.
Also general opinions are also valuable, it seems like the RGB spectrum on the Aero is limited, only actual Red Green and Blue and no yellows, magentas and in betweens..
It's really difficult choosing such an expensive machine without being able to feel it and see it in person before buying it.

    Best regards,
    ereb0s.

There are only stupid animations you wouldn't even want for your christmas fairy lights.
If you select 'custom', you can type any RGB color code you want.

    I'm glad you asked.

I downloaded the driver from Gigabyte web site, see my posting.

However, my AERO 15 was still wonky (to the point of being almost unusable) until I also updated the Intel graphics driver, see my posting here.

hey guys, i need some help. So i installed a clean image of win 10 onto my aero 15x v8, but left the recovery partitions on the drive intact. I was running into a plethora of issues with drivers and such, and some have said the factory image works better than a clean install. now, i did not make a recovery image before i did a clean install, because i thought that if i left the recovery image intact, i would be able to revert with a simple factory reset, just like any other device. However, i simply cannot get the computer to see go into the factory reset mode. F9 doesn't work at all. i tried using the F9 fix for build 1803 on gigabyte's website, and it still didn't work. what am i doing wrong? is it even possible to extract the image off of recovery image partition? im getting incredibly frustrated. i did noticed that when i installed a clean version of windows, it created its own 500MB recovery partition. is that coming in the way? i also tried deleting this recovery partition, in an attempt to get the computer to boot into gigabyte's factory recovery partition on its own, with no luck.

Can someone please help me out here on how to fix this mess by telling me how i can still use the factory recovery image still stored on the drive ;-;. Or at least give me the factory image for my machine QAQ. This is very depressing.

My machine is an Aero 15X v8-BK4K4P (4K, gtx 1070, black, 512GB ssd, 16GB ram)
    This thing has been giving me so many problems makes me wanna cry...got stuck with a $3k CAD lemon ;-;

You're getting your math/units mixed up.

92watt-hours will only tell you how long your laptop will run at 180watt-200watts. IE, at peak capacity of 92 watt-hours / 180 watts will leave you with 0.51 hours of battery life. The laptop is actually 94.24watt-hours so the number will be 0.52 hours instead, not a big change.

What you seemingly meant to ask is can this laptop max out its power without the power cable, running only on battery. That requires slightly different math.

First, you should convert 94.24 whrs to something easier like mah. To do that we take whrs and multiply by our voltage (19.5V) to get ~4800mah or ~4.8amp-hours. This is useful because most batteries have a discharge rate spec. In this case if our battery is rated for 1C discharge, it can pull 4.8amps. Our computer needs 9.23amps for max power, which would be ~2C discharge rate. I don't know the exact model of our battery, so I can't find the actual discharge rate spec. However, typical LiPo batteries are rated for a discharge of 10C+, meaning this computer can almost certainly deliver max power on just the battery alone.

You don't see the system use full power on battery simply because of power saving settings keeping you from doing so. IE, by default on battery you will be limited to 30fps while gaming. Disable all the power saving features and you get the performance you expect from being plugged in...... for 30 minutes.

Nope, I still got the old key. The ram is Kingston and I got the power adapter with USB. Right now I got a quite stable -160mv offset with prime95. Seems I got quite in between old and new stock.
add1: and the SSD is actually transcend branded, I though it will be toshiba

Are you using an active mDP cable? Because that's the only type of cable you can use for mDP.

I'm not totally sure if it's active. I just ordered one to test it out but it used to work but I did notice that if I moved the laptop the video would cut out. A passive cable wouldn't work at all right?

No worry about that - just download the Smart USB Backup from our website and it will backup the image into USB disk
Just boot your AERO 15 with USB stick and it will do the image recovery

Try to check using battery bar or hwinfo if there is any battery wear, if not then probably some background apps or windows may messed up cpu cycle

Anyone experience spacebar that quite easy to get dislocated? Mine is so easy to be dislocated just by pressing the exactly the middle bottom part of the keyboard.

    Return it!

My first unit had like loose F and D keys that pop'd off like yours.
I thought i could fix it, but it would continue to pop off.

some peculiar things i noticed in hwinfo when my battery life got reduced to 2-3 hours. the aero 15 couldn't make up its mind on which GPU to use. This caused idle power draw to hover around 40W. I believe i have the aero 15 configuration which consumes the most power (4k 1070 model), so it might not be the same for you.

However, it should be noted that, when my aero 15 goes into this confused state, things become very laggy, especially in games (where i would normally get 150fps, i get 40fps). The only way to get the computer back to regular performance is to restart it. I am not sure if it is because i was running a clean install of windows 10, or if it was because of windows 10 build 1803. I am going to check if the factory image, updated to 1803 has the same behaviour. This happens regularly, on battery or plugged in and power profiles do not change anything. forcing the applications being used to use one gpu specifically (global settings in nvidia control panel) also did not work.

Actually, I think I kinda repaired it, and here they don't have return window so it is more like they gotta repair it on the shop. The metal clamp is bended inward thus keep on releasing the keys, a little push and it seems good for now.

Thank you so much for your guidance.

That being said, the tool did not actually put an image onto the USB drive :c in my haste, i thought the drive was ready, and proceeded to factory restore. it was only until after all the parts were deleted, including the RecoveryImage partition, and the recovery failed (due to no image to install) that i realized i lost the original RecoveryImage. LUCKILY, i had extracted all the files from the RecoveryImage partition before hand, by assigning a letter to the partition using diskpart, and copying the files using explorer to another hard drive. I placed the backed up files in their respective directories inside the Smart Recovery USB, and booted from the USB drive again.

F9 for recovery now works! :D and it factory resets too c:

Anyone know where you can buy replacement key switches? One of my keys has a broken hinge retention piece (without warning) and pressing down on the edge of the key now causes the entire keycap to pop off.
Sending this thing for a 2 week repair isn't an option for me right now since it's my primary machine.

Guys, I am in great dilemma & need your suggestion/help.

Last week my uncle bought the Aero 15w V8 for me as a gift for me from USA. It was going all well until yesterday night when I noticed a thin yellow vertical line appeared in the middle of the screen. I've tried updating/ uninstalling display driver (Nvidia & iGPU) & fresh install of Windows 10 but nothing has worked. It seemed like a hardware issue.

Currently I'm residing in Bangladesh & we don't have any Gigabyte service center in our country. Moreover Gigabyte laptops are not available here. So, I need everyone's suggestion about what action I can take now. I really liked the Aero 15, after seeing vertical line on the screen, it made me really sad. If required I'm willing to pay for the screen replacement but I don't know how I'm gonna do that from my position.

Good day, did anyone have any issues of fan noise in the Aero 15 7th gen. My laptop just now started to develop fan noises on its left side which can be quite audible at idle (2300 rpm-from Smart-Manager). Is there any way to get a replacement fan. I ordered my laptop from Newegg in Canada but I live in the Philippines (no service centers, only authorized resellers) so even if my laptop is still within warranty period (1 year and 2.5 months left), I still could not get it fixed.

I could also feel the vibrations from the fan giving my left hand an ultrasonic massage of sorts (makes my hand feel like "on pins and needles" or that same feeling blood is suddenly allowed to flow to a limb after maintaining a certain position after using the keyboard). Though the fan's clicky noise disappears when the fan speed is set greater than 65% or ~4400 rpm but also disappears at QuietMode or 0 rpm (doh).

Is it possible to get a replacement fan sent through authorized resellers in our country?

Have you try to open it and tap on the fan or see if there is cable/something in the way?

    Hi team
I tried going through pages and pages but coudln'tn find a similar issue.
My bluetooth suddenly stopped working. I installed driver, uninstalled and let Windows install the driver etc but no luck.

    Issue -
Computer starts up, bluetooth seems to be active and working(bluetooth led lights up and my bluetooth mouse works).
Few seconds later bluetooth seems to have disappeared - Bluetooth led no longer lit up and none of my bluetooth devices will work.
There is no option to turn bluetooth on/off in bluetooth settings.
Smartmanager - bluetooth option turn off/on option takes you to the same windows bluetooth page where you still do not have an option to turn it off/on.

Has anyone had this issue? I have attached screenshots, would be awesome if you can have a look and help!

Device manager - Intel Wireless Bluetooth - Properties shows this error -
"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

Would that void my warranty? There are stickers on the torx screws underneath the laptop?
