    Dear peeps,

I managed to dual boot this machine after a couple of hours messing around with the position of my stick of V color and Ripjaw. On Bios 07 / 06, machine would only boot with Ripjaws on the dual slot, after upgrading to 08 / 07, laptop boots only with the G.Skill in the main channel, V color in dual slot. For those stuck in a boot-loop, it is worth trying moving the RAM around. It will eventually work.

Question remains, is not being able to run @2666 a clear drop in RAM performance ? I feel satisfied as of right now; although i could order a pair or kingston to make this run at the advertised speed if you people deem worth the extra charge associated with the hardware upgrade.

    Best

I just got my Kingston KVR26S19D8/16 and after 2 hours of trying to make it work ... I have given up.
I detached the battery, I tried to insert the new RAM on both slots, I have also tried to run in dual channel with the existing one (Kingstone CBD26D4S9D8ME - 16), I have tired in every combination possible in every position possible, but the laptop did not boot up with the new stick, just with the one that comes with it.

I am very upset about this and I find it unacceptable for a product of this value. One month ago I sent it to RMA with display problems and now this... The fact that Gigabyte is actually recognized for the motherboards, and this product comes with such problems it makes me worry of the quality of their products...

Do you have the link for the RAM you used?

To other, can you post the link of the RAM that you installed and said if any special thing you need to do for it to work? Want to start a list.

At last my repair has been done, they replaced my old keyboard with the new one (the one where the shift key is symbols and not words). So far no problem with the new keyboard, hopefully no ghosting yet.

Have there been any reports of key sensitivity or ghosting with the new iteration of the keyboard? Did they just swap the shift keys out or did they change the manufacturing process entirely?

Hi peeps ! Just want to share my current experience quickly.

Just received my 15x v8 2 days ago, its defintely a great computer but and I would like to share 2 things I am facing right now:

First one, GPU / gaming underperformance ?
I have been gaming a bit with it and I dont think it performes 100%.
Fornite set on Ultra everywhere is ranging between 50 fps to 100 depending on the situation ingame. I was expecting a bit more tbh, and when I look at the task manager, I see that the gpu has a 60 to 70% work load and the igpu shows an activity of 40%.
On the other side, smart manager shows Temp of cpu/gpu averaging 70°C so i feel like its not fully trying its best, and somehow something is being shared between the two gpus.
I've seen a few posts here and there of people getting better results while using an external monitor (hence putting the work load only on the 1070).
What do you think? is that a normal behavior ?

I am running on a clean installed windows 1803, pretty much all drivers manually installed (igpu AND dgpu last drivers versions, greater than the ones proposed by smart update)
    CPU undervolted by -0.130

Seconde one, a battery life of 4h30 max, not playing game, juste browsing on chrome. GPU temp is marked Idle on the smart manager, and WakeupGPU not running.
"Day long" battery was one of this laptops assets, so I am a bit concerned there i have to say.

If anyone has some insight on that
    Cheers !

First Point: On the highest settings with AA, notebookcheck shows an average FPS of ~100 in Fortnite. Sounds like you're getting the correct performance. The iGPU still has to work because it actually draws to the display. Your 1070 might do all the hard work, but it has to pass the processed frame to the iGPU to display it. This is the case for every non-gsync laptop screen. Plug in to an external display through HDMI or mini-DP and it will be directly connected to the 1070, completely bypassing the iGPU. If you want to try and smooth out those 50fps drops, I would undervolt the CPU/GPU to get some more performance, you may be thermal throttling.

Second Point: If you have something like Intel XTU installed you can see how much power the CPU is drawing, some people have reported issues with the CPU drawing more power than it should doing basic tasks. Some other things to consider: screen brightness and power saver settings.

Well 100 is definitely a maximum , it runs at 60 to 70 most of the time. Compared to the 100/110 I see on others benchs... I don't know , feels like a bit behind to me ^^
Thanks for the insights on gsync and xtu, I am currently cheking xtu

    Edit:
If you are referring to "Core voltage" in XTU, it averages around 0.700 V, wish i guess is ok.
I do also have "Current Limit throttling" on "Yes" by the way.. (Only appears when on battery)

For the power I'm referring to the "Package TDP" which shows the current power draw by the CPU. Some people were having 12+W at idle on battery/power saver when it should be ~3W. For throttling we are interesting in "Thermal Throttling," but I've heard that value isn't always accurate in XTU. Better off just monitoring the temps while playing fortnite. If you are around 90C when playing then its probably throttling.

Okay , i guess its fine then, package TDP is averaging 3 (apart from some 12W spikes which happen sometimes). And ~9W plugged

yeah it's actually not that hot, I was expecting it to throttle as Fortnite in ultra is quite demanding. I am not getting over 80°C. Which makes me thinks something isnt giving its best somewhere

The keyboard that they replace does have the new shift key, ghosting wise it seems quite ok afaik (need to test in some other games). There is a little problem with it tho, sometimes it does double type tho not as bad as shown on Youtube.

Anyway, if I set the display to 60hz in Intel Graphic Setting, it seems that setting persist thru game, does anyone knows how to change it automatically to 144hz on apps basis?

New Smart Manager v7.4.5 for Aero 15v7 (previous version 7.0.5)
According to the number it should be quite a big change but actually I can't see any difference...

    Hello everyone,

I will try my luck here.. so is someone that can help me with the update exe for FB07/F007 BIOS Update?
It seems that is no longer available on Gigabyte's Support page. I've been looking everywhere on the internet but no result.

I have serous issues with the FB08/F007 -> my laptop display is not working anymore. I'm using right now an external display. This issue appear right after 2 restarts with the new update. I tried to reinstall the update and resenting the CMOS but with no luck.

EDIT: forgot to mention for Aero 15X (i7-8750H)

    Thank you in advice!

Wild guess, but try messing with energy settings. This laptop has more options than a usual laptop due to the Smart Manager. Sometimes things get confused and I've definitely been in situations when the games would suddenly run weird. Make sure that in Smart Manager you have the fans set to Max or Gaming mode (I don't know how they are called, my Smart Manager is permanently stuck in Taiwanese). Make sure the battery profile is set to High Performance. Make sure when you click on the little battery symbol in the right bottom corner of the desktop that it doesn't have any Battery saver or other economical settings turned on. Also when connecting to the external monitor, make sure only that monitor is a chosen display, not "Duplicate" or "Extend" option. Sometimes I would keep the laptop closed and it would switch randomly to "Duplicate" and I wouldn't see it cause the screen is closed. This causes a 40% dip in FPS.

I would like to know if its normal that HWMonitor is showing that the Aero 15x always uses the Power Hungry Nvidia GPU instead of the more power friendly Intel GPU?
I´m on Normal Fan mode with Auto Power mode in Smart Manager 18.0.2.2.

I have on Aero 15x old BIOS version FB06 and it's work well. Should I update to last version FB08 ? What they update in this firmware ? power consumed ? stable system ? improved performance ? I mean - should I update it or not ? )

I just received my Aero 15w-v8 a couple of days ago but it seemed to have incredibly bad backlight bleed. I can notice a slight bluish hue on the right third of my screen. Is that normal or should I look to return it?

The Aero 15 is infamous for bad backlight bleed.
Yours looks quite severe but unfortunately there is no guarantee that you would get a better unit if exchanging it, it could even be worse.

I bought an aero 15x. My computer forgot my nvme existed. I've testing booting with a windows backup thumb drive and it picks up that the thumb drive exists but not the internal ssd. I also tried switching the m.2 ports inside of the computer to see if there was a different and nothing changed. Any recommendations or should I return my 2 month old computer and get a more reliable model?

Did you use active adapter? Passive adapter only works to output DisplayPort iirc.

Anyway, I try to update Nvidia driver from SmartUpdate but it says it is not compatible? Anyone experience it?

I should have said I was using a dp to vga adapter. I unplugged and replugged a couple times and it works.

According to the spec, it is a passive adapter. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=5107

A little update, on my case the problem in regards to nvidia gpu running on battery mode, I need to reset my laptop before it solves itself. I have tried install and uninstall both Intel and Nvidia driver with no result, but that PC reset did solve that problem (I wonder if it is something to do with SmartManager? Cause my laptop doesn't come with SmartManager installed)

It might not be the screen itself, but rather something in the Display settings. I'm currently setting up my 15x with a new Samsung UHD TV and while I was playing around with Display settings this exact same thing came up on the settings screen as well (only not on my monitor, but the TV screen). I kept changing things (RGB, resolution, refresh rate in the Display settings) and eventually it went away. I can't replicate it.

Anyone had luck getting HDR through an external screen? I've tried connecting to an HDR enabled TV and the HDR option is always greyed out. The cable I use is an HDMI 2.0 that came with PS4 Pro and it passes HDR signal on this TV when playing PS4 (same HDMI port too), so it's not the cable or port. I've already set the resolution in Windows down to 1080p and set refresh rate down to 60 hz - that didn't help. Is the conclusion that Optimus is unable to pass an HDR signal?

    I have 15x 2017 version.
    My Windows 10 is 64bit Home 1803
    Nvidia 23.21.13.9101
Intel HD - 23.20.16.4973 (that's what Smart Update shows, not sure it's the official name).

I just replaced the single stick of memory in my 15X with a dual channel kit, and I thought I'd post the benchmark results before and after in case anyone is curious.

First, the kit I installed was this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA8N25Z22089

I did have to unplug the battery in order to get the machine to boot with the new memory.

    MaxxMEM2
    Before: 18.25 GB/sec memory score
    After: 24.81 GB/sec memory score

    GeekBench 4
    Before: 4722 Single-Core/18233 Multi-Core
    After: 5053 Single-Core/21455 Multi-Core

Certainly seems like a worthwhile upgrade.

    Hi guys,

Has anyone installed 2 modules (dual-channel) of RAM to the Aero-15x (8750H) with 2666 Mhz frequency?
Could you please point me to the appropriate message on a forum, if possible.

    Thanks!

Can you please attach screenshots from CPU-Z here? Memory, SPD and first tab.

    Thanks in advance!

This may be a rare case, but has anyone had one of the keycap hinges break?

One of my keys popped out the other day. Everything is intact except the plastic hinge - one of the ears had snapped off. I confirmed it was the problem by removing another keycap and swapping the known-working hinge with the broken one.

So now I just need a single hinge (and maybe a few extras just in case this happens again). I can't picture doing an RMA just for a single plastic hinge, and I'm also unable to find the part for sale anywhere.

Has anyone dealt with gigabyte support for an issue like this?

Mine came with the V-color ram and I added a Crucial 16gb 2666mhz fine (it's also listed on their website under Aero 15x compatible modules). The laptop booted right away and I have not had any issues.
