I've spent much time googling it and trying many things a few months ago (wanted to play PC Forza 7 on my HDR TV) with no luck. My conclusion is also that the Intel IGP is not able to pass the HDR signal through and that even when you use the nVidia GTX 1060, it still relies on the Intel controller due to Optimus :(

New Nvidia Official Driver on SmartUpdate, hopefully it solve the driver power state failure issue.

p.s: Seems I can't update it, even though I use Gigabyte SmartUpdate?

Just use Geforce Experience to update your driver, maybe?
PS: I've never gottend a driver power state failure on my machine.

Have tried the Geforce Experience driver, when using battery it won't turn off the Nvidia card (can see the card running at low speed in HWinfo). This driver at least doesn't suck juices from the battery afaik (tested it and it can run about 4.5-6hour on light use).

edit: Experiencing driver power state failure again, seems it is not coming from Nvidia driver tho as zero use of the Nvidia card still cause issue. I bet it is more on the Intel side as before it happen there is a major system lag/freeze even without Nvidia activated.

I get around 4.5-5.5 hrs on battery (browsing with multiple tabs in Chrome) and 4k screen. I never actually checked to see if my dGPU is active tho. But battery life remains the same after I set Nvidia global setting to iGPU.

That was actually a very good battery life for 4k screen, I only got about 3hour when the bug occurs and about 5hour without that bug (but I use Firefox, which may affect other things too). I use BatteryBar Pro and HwInfo to check my usage before and after the bugs and found about 10watt difference (around 9.8-16watt on Intel with undervolting and 24-32watt with Nvidia bugs, the Nvidia card itself used about 9-11watts on reported TDP in HwInfo). I also reduce screen refresh rate to 60hz as tutorials, but it seems doesn't affect much battery life.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum!
I'm not sure if someone already posted it but I couldn't find anything about it. I have the aero 15x with the I7 7700, and I'm looking for a docking station, id like something vertical and keep the laptop close, I have an external monitor anyway.
    Any idea?

I ordered and applied this exact skin from aliexpress. I requested to the seller that they leave the GIGABYTE Logo on the lid top skin and bottom bezel NOT cut out, so I can cover it up. Works pretty well. From certain angles you can still see the GIGABYTE letters on the top of the lid due to them not sitting flush with the rest of the lid, but not bad. Skin texture is nice. Alignment of the cutouts for the webcam and LED status lights is not the best, but for the price I'm happy

I don't know if it already happened to you but it just happened to me for the 2nd time within 6 months now that I got an unusual and annoying noise from one of the fans.
After removing the back cover of the laptop and checking the fan very carefully with a good light, I could find a very thin hair. I just had to remove it with tweezers without even opening/disassembling the fan and then the fan noise was back to normal :)

That seems like a rather accidental orrcurence. I've had my past fans making wierd noises due to the power cable touching the fins and the axis being de-centered (in which case it made loud high-pitched noises).

Does anyone know a way to repaste without voiding my warranty? I undervolted, used a cooler and still got throttling.

After reading a lot of reviews and watching tons of videos, I still have few questions about this laptop)

    1) Can it charge via TB3 port? I know that it is not enough for full load, but it can be handy when laptop used only for light stuff.
    2) If I connect external 4K@60Hz display via TB3/DP/HDMI will it stick with dGPU, or it will use Nvidia Optimus and switch between iGPU and dGPU depending from load? Is it possible to manually switch between iGPU and dGPU?
    3) How "Silent mode" is working? It will completely turn off the fans and throttle with more load, or it can be silent with fans off while browsing/watching video and automatically turn it on with more load?
    4) Can I create custom fan curve?
    5) Can I add/replace RAM/SSD/thermal paste without voiding my warranty? I'm in Germany in case if warranty terms can vary locally.

    1) No
    2) Only DP and HDMI use dGPU. There is no eGPU unless you connect one via TB3.
    3) Silent mode kills the fans and throttle more.
    4) Yes
    5) Yes, but I am no lawyer

    Oh, my fault!
    I mean dGPU, not eGPU.
I try to rephrase: Can I use external 4K@60Hz display with Integrated GPU?
If only DP and HDMI using Nvidia GPU, it is mean that Intel GPU can drive external monitor via TB3?
In Gigabyte software? Can you provide some screenshots of that fan curve settings?
I can't find good overview of all Gigabyte software functions.

I've been having a lot of trouble with Smart Manager after updating it. I frequently use the fn+esc to switch between fan speeds, and now it only works if I literally have the smart manager window open - which totally defeats the purpose.

Yes, you can "manually" change between iGPU and dGPU. Your HDMI/DP ports go directly to the dGPU while your TB3 port goes directly to the iGPU. There is no way these can be changed, so if you plug a monitor into that port, thats what you get.

    Thx!
    And just last question)
If I would connect external display to TB3 port it is mean that even under the heavy load dGPU will be inactive?

From my understanding, yes. At least this is the case for rendering. I think you could still access the dGPU if you aren't using it to render to the screen. For example, you could probably train a neural network on the dGPU and the iGPU would still be the only thing rendering to the TB3 monitor. I haven't personally tested that, so I could be wrong.

I am new here in this forum. So please be gentle. :)
I recently bought an Aero 15x v8 and is now planning to add an additional 16GB memory in which will be paired to the existing 16GB V-Color 2666Mhz CL19.
Buying a 32GB kit is not an option.

I saw this one at Amazon Canada, its a Crucial 16GB CL19 with model number CT16G4SFD8266. Will this memory can be paired with the existing V-Color? If not your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have bought a Aero 15x with the latest Bios firmware 8b. I have the described Kingston ram CBD26D4S9D8ME-16 and I bought the Kingston KVR26S19D8/16 to make a dual memory 32 GB ram system. But as I hoped it to be compatible with the Aero, it seems not, as with it in I does not start up and restarts after shutdown. I have looked carefully and the extra number is different from the one above. Above it is 9905703-009.A00G. But the memory I have has almost the same number but: 9905703-008.A00G. Could that be a different version? Or is it because I have a newer bios version? I struggle now what to do?

    Hi Lord_Erik,

It does look like that module has the chance to be compatible with the V-Color at 2666 (1333.3MHz) 19-19-19-43, but with memory there's really no guarantee that it will work unless you get a kit. However, I will say that in the past I had the V-Color work (albeit at slower speeds) with a G.SKILL F4-2666C18-16GRS so cross-brand can work.

Just FYI, I eventually went with the Kingston HX426S15IB2K2/32 32GB kit after a lot of fussing around with different kits that didn't work and were on the compatibility list!

    Good luck!
Alternatively I have the stock V-Color 16GB stick if you're interested in buying that off me, which should definitely be compatible with your current stick. PM me if so!

Guys, I've read datasheet about Core 8th generation and the restriction of the memory modules using inside CPU memory controller.

S-Processor 6+2/8+2 DDR4 2666 MT/s 2DPC UDIMM is supported when channel is populated with the
    same UDIMM part number.

I have installed hyperx 2x16 modules and it works on 2666 in dual channel.

After trying to get the new Ram installed, unplugging the battery and de-charging with on button, this memory still would not let the computer boot, not even into bios. After resetting to the original set up I have an enourmous problem. Windows does not start, and after a minute or so the computer opens in the bios. There it shows it does not see any nvme device. In other words my harddrive is not seen anymore. A huge problem and I have to send the laptop to Gigabyte for repair. Or does have anybody any idea what could have happened and what could be done?

I just straight up can't update. I get the error 0x800F081F - 0x20003 and it just reverts all changes. I tried looking up the error but it's really vague, and I really don't want to try a clean install.

I started an eSupport ticket with Gigabyte to ask about compatible RAM to upgrade with the stock v-color stick. They responded within 2 days as they stated they would on their eSupport page.

I bought a stick and I will report back how it works out. If it doesn't run at 2666 I will return it and try another rout.

Hi all, I recently bought the Aero 15X and I'd like to add an extra RAM to run dual channel.
My laptop originally carries a Kingston RAM (CBD26D4S9D8ME-16).
Is it better to add an extra Kingston RAM same as my original one, or is it okay to add RAMs of other brands, e.g. G.Skill?
    Thanks.

you should better buy the same modules if they are available. Otherwise buy modules 2666mhz and the same Timings ... i think yours have CL15. You can easily check this with CPU-Z.

Hi, anyone had any experience with getting a refund from Gigabyte? Were you successful?

I am a frustrated user from Singapore of the Aero15x v7 for the past year and I want to get a refund. I tried emailing Gigabyte but have not received a reply for a week.

TLDR : I had so many problems with the laptop, service center took a month to repair, did shoddy work, told me i should not update Windows if I want my $3500 laptop to work as intended.

Now, I am stuck with windows 1703 on my laptop and exposed battery wires inside.

This is the email I sent.

Thank you for your answer, I think I'll just buy another Kingston RAM with the same module instead.
