Guys I keep getting this error since I don't remember when. It occurs every 3 minutes.
Event 13, ACPI
The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.
When it occurs, the screen freezes. I am still able to move the cursor around and sometimes hear ongoing audio. The freezes only last 3 seconds or so, and then everything goes back to normal.
Does anyone know why this occurs? I have the latest chipset driver in Smart Updates.

Hi all, I have the AERO 15, i7-7 Series CPU with GTX1060, does anyone know how to power on the laptop without opening up the lid? I'm trying to use this laptop as my desktop replacement, I hate to open up the lid and close it each time I want to power on the device.
ThanksHermannnTheGerman likes this. -

It does activate HDR on TV, the picture definitely changes and the TV recognizes it as a different signal (the TV saves picture settings for HDR-on and HDR-off as two different presets).
I've so far only checked it in Forza and the effect was mostly detrimental:
1) it dims the brightness of colors in the game and messes up the blacks- to me kinda looks similar to how fake-HDR works in Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4. However it does look a bit more photorealistic.
2) turning on the HDR increases usage of some resource - the FPS would take a 20-30% Hit, while the GPU usage stays the same. Perhaps it's the HDMI cable limitation.
My TV is https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/nu8000 and I use the picture settings from Rtings website for this model accordingly.
I have 15x 2017 version.
My Windows 10 is 64bit Home 1803
Nvidia 23.21.13.9101
Intel HD - 23.20.16.4973
I can test further if there is any interest in this. -

Hello. Just wanna ask existing Aero 15 users whether they have issues with their machines and if it is still sensible to buy one. I'm considering getting one for myself once the holidays arrive. Cheers.

BSOD: it may help to prevent it if the Intel or nvidia gpu is disabled with device manager?!
In my case I switched power settings : cover is closed, from hibernate to sleep. Since then I didnt got any bsod on wake up -

I've only recently got my Aero 15X and generally it's behaving pretty well but when typing it does miss some key presses when you press the corners of the keys or don't press hard enough. So far I'm seeing if I adjust but wondered if a decent keyboard fixes all of the problems. -
-
i brought my aero15x back to the reseller, got my refund and bought a razer blade 15 for nearly the same price with same specs... lets see which device is better.
-
So my Aero 15x just arrived today with the CBD26D4S9D8ME-16 1x16 ram stick. Given all the issues with adding a second stick of memory anyone know what might be compatible with this? I tried searching for the type that came in my system but it is not on sale anywhere.

This laptop is such a broken pain once you need to reinstall windows . took a bit for me to get the color correction for pantone working and the keyboard lights absolutely wont work for more than 5 minutes i have to switch the color for them to show up again. huge mistake re installing windows.

Ok. My new system seems to get stuck in a constant boot loop. Any ideas? Return it?
-
Oh, my reseller told me that they don't sell the USB 210w power adapter and then sell me the 150w adapter. They say it is enough, but based on my testing the CPU drop to 2.6ghz when the battery is charging and full load on both GPU/CPU. As long as you are not charging I think it is ok, and I like the form factor that's a lot smaller than 210w brick. Oh the 150w charger does have USB port and the rated output is 19.5v 7.7a on 220v (and it pull 180watt from the wall) -
I'm waiting for my Aero 15 x to arrive and will repaste it and add thermal pads. the question is if one 60x50x0.5 mm pad enough for the VRAM or do I need to get more?
and anyone knows if there is a noticeable difference between fujipoly ultra and fujipoly extreme ?
Edit: got a reply from Rage Set : "One pad should be enough for just the VRAM modules. If you are replacing all of the thermal pads on the laptop, then no. As for a noticeable difference between the two, I use Ultra whenever I change out the thermal pads on my laptops, GPU's and etc. There are mark improvements in VRAM thermals with Ultra but I also OC heavy (I'm not your average laptop user). If you do not plan to overclock your GPU, the Fujipoly extreme thermal pad will suffice, specially over the stock crap that Gigabyte uses."Last edited: Nov 30, 2018 -
Hi all-- I've had my Aero 15x (v8) about a month now. I needed it right away, so I've been weathering through the keyboard issues (bought it for work, not gaming). For this price, a faulty keyboard really is unacceptable, though. In my case, several letters only register if you press in the direct center of the key. (Similar to what Ollie222 just said.) Super frustrating!
I emailed Gigabyte and they told me to send the laptop back for a keyboard replacement. But I don't want to lose my new comp for 2-3 weeks! Plus, it sounds like most Aeros (?) have the issue, so no guarantee it will even fix the problem.
Has anyone had any luck replacing it on their own? Or even just a few individual keys? I haven't found an exact match yet, but was thinking of trying one of the Gigabyte models from this site: http://www.laptopkey.com/KeyboardKeys.php/Gigabyte/Notebook/P55W
Just curious how ya'll are fairing with it.
PS: upgraded my RAM to GSkill F4-2800C18D-32GRS. They're running at 1200MHzI guess they're worth keeping still, but the single Kingston stick was running at 1330 MHz

So there you have it. A stick that runs side by side with the V-Color at the correct speed with no fuss. All I had to do was ask Gigabyte.Benjammin2jah and kc0181 like this. -
Okay, so after months of waiting I finally got my hands on an Aero 15X. First impressions have been positive, gone trough all the tuning etc. Installed all my essential software and now I notice this very annoying thing in both my Photoshop and Autodesk Maya.
In both programs there is this brightness flickering in my workspace (it does not affect the UI). After doing my research supposedly it's a known issue related to the combination of the Intel HD 630 graphics and the dedicated GeForce.
(Surprisingly no post on Maya issues found(
As described:
https://communities.intel.com/thread/129879
https://communities.intel.com/thread/127426
I just updated my drivers to the latest Intel drivers. My Geforce drivers I had kept to the 23.21.13.8892 drivers it came with as read bad things about the updates and battery life.
Just wanted to updated the Geforce drivers to see if that did the trick. But the latest drivers are not compatible with the Windows update that was forced on me yesterday (updates have now been fully bloked..).
I really hope someone has been able to fix these issues as I really wan't to keep the laptop, but it will have to go back if I can not normally do my work on it.
Any tips? -

I use photoshop and maya and I don't experience these issues . . I have a aero 15v7
Intel driver: 25.20.100.6326
Nvidia driver: 25.21.14.1694
You need to download your intel driver from intel and not from smartupdate as the drivers there are outdated
Use the intel driver and support assistance software and it will update all your drivers like wifi as wellBenjammin2jah and romanstyle like this. -
Hey guys,
I have recently received my 15X V8 and so far I am pretty happy with it. CPU Undervolting Core/Cache by 0.150 worked like a charm and the 1070MQ is happily taking +175/+750 on Core and Ram. Cinebench, Heaven, Superposition and Firestrike are all kicking out nice results, but...MSI Afterburner and GPU-Z show that the card never goes above 0.800V (shouldnt my limit be 1.062V ???).
0.800V means that the GPU never exceeds 78°C and with the +175Mhz Core the Frequency jumps around 1500 and 1702 while frequently hitting PWR Limit.
What am I missing here? Why is my card never going past this very low voltage?
It took me a while to understand that the silent fan profile limits my CPU from boosting properly, so is this a similar situation? I am running all benchmarks in the Fan profile Game Mode, as have most of the reviewers of this unit. Any advice is much appreciated! -
The Maya issue was actually fixed before by setting it to DX11. The Photoshop issue still occurs, although maybe slighty less strong.
It's best readable in the grey area around the canvas, it just constantly shifts value of grey, but also the actual content of the canvas.
https://prnt.sc/lqplwg
Sad as I just see recent posts on this issue and no clear solutions, strange no one else on here has had it as far as I can search.
Also I just had my first random BSOD since I had the laptop 6 days ago. So I might be reverting to a restore point just before.
And still contemplating if to keep it, as I don't really like how it's constantly having loud fans even without actual work being done and set to silent profile.. -

Aero 15x UHD issues that I'd be very grateful for some help with: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/aero-15-x-w-1070-max-q.809281/page-112#post-10829459
Restart hanging, headphone jack not working, Realtek Audio preventing Adobe Audition CC and Premiere Pro CC from working... -
Could anyone please share what their maximum 1070maxQ GPU voltage is according to GPU-Z or Afterburner under load in gaming or synthetic benchmarks? I would just like to know if my 0.8V maximum are a problem (hardware/driver/bios) or just the normal limit set by Gigabyte. According to this thread it should be 1.062V!
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...5-w-x-v7-v8-common-problems-solutions.816143/
A simple "yes, I am getting 0.8V too" or "Nope, mine goes way higher at XXXX volts, yours sucks" will do ;-)
EDIT: Solved! 0.8V is indeed the maximum for the 1070 max Q GPU :-(Last edited: Dec 6, 2018 -
Guys,
Is there are a way to disable installing of the power management profiles during SmartManager installation?
Looks like employees of the GIGABYTE are stupid. Why they are using hard locked frequencies for CPU in the power management profiles? Why only 3 power states are presented: 1.7 ghz - 2.6 ghz - 3.9 ghz with power saving/balanced/high-performance profiles accordingly? Why not used dynamic power states when CPU changes voltage/frequencies according to the load?
GIGABYTE Engineers - what are you smoking? -
New to the forums and I recently purchased the Gigabyte Aero 15w-v8. For the most part the laptop has been fine, however I started having a minor issue yesterday:
Most of the time when I boot the laptop it loads into the BIOS automatically and even pressing different F keys at the BIOS splash screen did nothing. And in the BIOS the m.2 drive that came with the laptop is visible and is selected as the only boot drive.
However, when I get into BIOS, if I hit the "esc" key and chose to not save changes, the laptop boots into windows normally. But I have to do this every time it boots into the BIOS.
Any ideas or tips to try to resolve this? It happened with the stock drivers/BIOS, and even after updating BIOS to FB08 I still get the same issue.
P.S. I posted this in the Aero Tuning thread as well. not trying to spam just trying to get help
UPDATE: I installed a fresh copy of windows. Deleted all partitions on the drive including the recovery, recreated the needed partitions while installing windows. And now the laptop itself runs even better than it did before. However the BIOS boot loop is still present. I'm confused. It passes everything, plays games as it should. But this BIOS loop is driving me bonkers. I emailed Gigabyte as well, seeing what they say.Last edited: Dec 7, 2018 -

Hi guys,
I just got my aero 15x and there is an issue. When charging, the laptop will have little static current sound, more so when my fingers touch the touchpad. When on battery, no such sound. What could be the issue here? Should I try a different (larger) power adapter?
Thanks,
Longyu -
Is this normal?

Hi,
has anybody else observed the occurrence of system freezes due to " Reset to device RaidPort0 was issued" events? I had reported them earlier on in this thread.
Now they appear more frequently, a lot too frequently for my taste:
Searching for "iastora raidport0 reset 129" or similar words returns discussions about this issue dating back into the pre-Windows 10 aera, sadly without any clear resolution.
Any idea how to troubleshoot this issue? I don't know why my AERO15 is so wonky when the hardware is still in original condition, i.e. no hardware upgrades, only system updates and software installations. -

SteakIKan, by the way, what exactly did you mean with " I need to reset my laptop"? -
Another question related to Smart Manager. Every time I start the computer, it pops up EmptyProject.exe - System Error. The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCR120.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem. The Smart Manager seems working fine afterwards, but this window is just annoying.

My fan noise around my right palm is a bit clicky while the fan around my left palm seems normal. Anyone else noticed that?

Okay, here is my review of the system. I got my AERO 15X last week through GenTechPC. The package was well packaged. I asked them to paste my CPU/GPU so I can see the screws have been opened on the back. The screws seem a bit worn which do make me wonder if the right tool was used.
I initially tried to install a dual system (Windows and Linux) each on separated hard disk, which turns out to be a huge pain later. I installed Windows with a bootable USB just fine but when I tried to install Linux (with another bootable USB) on the second hard disk, it could not find the boot driver no matter what. At the end, I gave up this thought and decided to install VM in Windows.
Now is the painful part. I am not sure if it was because that I kept trying installing second system, my computer starts to BSOD all the time! Every time I put down the lid, it BSODs, sometimes when I restart, it BSODs. The error code is always INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR. I tried to install the newest driver with Smart Update, uninstall and install older driver, system recovery, all kind of methods.... The BSODs sometimes go away for a few hours and then came back immediately. At this point, I pretty much had no solution to install the proper drivers.
After much search, I finally found the reason, that is DO NOT INSTALL SUMSUNG SSD NVMe DRIVER!! This is not unique to Gigabyte, and people find out that the Windows update 1809 and SUMSUNG ssd driver do not play along well. Using Microsoft's default NVMe driver resolves the problem. Here is a link for reference: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthre...ober-UPDATE-1809-Your-thoughts-feedback/page3
Overall, satisfy with the machine, very well built, here are my pros and cons of the machine.
Pros:
Very well built. This was the primary reason I did not go with MSI GS65.
Beautiful screen, although I can see leak on all corners.
Temperature on games seem fine, although I did not test it on super extensive game yet.
Cons:
Drivers need some work to get right. DO NOT INSTALL SUMSUNG SSD NVMe DRIVER on Windows Update 1809.
The touchpad has whizzing sound when fingers touch it, during charging. Not so much on battery. I got a 180W adapter from Delta Electronics from GentechPC. Not sure if this was the original, but I know there are these 200W adapter from Gigabyte. Asked GentechPC already and yet to receive a response.
The fan seems always on and you can hear it. You can turn it off to quiet but MSI GS65 is really quiet comparing to this.
I have only got this for a few days and have been fighting with the drivers all this time. Now I finally have some time to use it. It's by no means a comprehensive review, but have faith when having constant BSODs, you can win the fight if you try really hard...Last edited: Dec 11, 2018 -

Just received a new Aero 15x today and overall I'm pretty satisfied. I sent two back previously due to coil whine, screen, and keyboard problems. This new unit has some coil whine but it's not nearly as bad as my previous one and it's pretty much inaudible unless you listen for it. They also seem to have changed the SSD to a Samsung one (which you can see the benchmarks for in the attached screenshot), updated the stock nvidia driver to 411.63, and removed a bunch of bloatware, so it's worked pretty well out of the box. I probably won't do a fresh reinstall this time. I also have 0 backlight bleed this time around, which is nice. Hopefully it performs up to par in the coming days.
