Hi Gigabyte Tribe!
Has anyone tried the razer blade 15 90W TDP vBios on their 2070 MQ or 2080MQ? I successfully flashed it on my laptop and saw great performance benefits on GPU perf but on my particular chassis (TongFang 15") I lost mini dp functionality which I use a lot so I reversed back to the OG vBios
I was wondering if anyone had tried it yet or is willing to give it a go...? I'm hesitating between the Razer blade 15 with its higher performing 2070MQ vs the new Aero 15 2070MQ but if the Razer vbios works on the Aero then I'd happily buy the Aero as I think ultimately its a better overall laptop, its just gaming performance is kinda big deal for me even though we're talking 10-20% benefit at most...
Its safe as they have the same board ID and both are Max-Q skus so you're just getting a higher base and boost clocks with better OCing capability thanks to the raised power limit. I just need to make sure the mini DP still works!
Thank you so much for letting me know, it would help me out a great deal!!!
Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers!

Hilarious how they mention the keys must not only function but be durable, smh -
Question, how would you go about cleaning the keyboard/keys?

my aero 15 has a permanent white led on the battery icon, always on even when the battery is full.
the only way to turn it off is removing the connection to the power cable.
it has always been like this, I never understood if it is a bug or some bad design.
anyway, I rarely used aero 15 on battery, because this laptop never lasted much more than 1 or 2 hours, just browsing in power saving mode, so I don't need that power led indicator always on. is there any way to turn it off? an application, an hack, or something? -
Hey guys,
New Aero 15 owner here. I'm hoping this thread can be of some use of me. I ordered the Aero 15 X9 with the i9-8950HK and RTX 2070. I'm a bit disappointed right off the bat as I really did not want Max Q graphics. All over the product page on Newegg and Gigabytes website, it makes no mention of Max Q like every other laptop that has Max Q, so I assumed this was a full laptop 2070. I would not have bought the machine knowing it had Max Q, but I digress. I would exchange it for the Y9 2080 model, but I really do not want a 4K display as gaming performance would be horrible and I can't do 60 hz. It is what it is now.
My apologies as a lot of my questions I'm sure are already answered in this thread, but I don't have time to look through 364 pages of replies and am not coming up with a lot through searches.
Is there a handy QVL list for this laptop? I can't seem to find it in the Gigabyte support section. I have purchased a Kingston HyperX 2666 CL15 16GB Dual Channel (X426S15IB2K2/16) kit to put in this as the first order of business is getting this thing running dual channel memory. I hope it works properly. If not I will have to exchange for something else.
Second order of business is getting a couple of 970 Pros I have laying here installed and getting it on Win 10 Pro. I have built many, many desktop PCs over the years, but I have never reformatted or fresh installed a laptop. Is there anything I should know before I try this? Can I just get all of the drivers from Gigabytes website, do a fresh install like normal, install the drivers and roll on? I assume this is the case, but want to make sure before I go through with it. I'm not sure if there is anything specific in the preinstalled OS for the laptop hardware that will cause me issues.
Third, I will take any help I can get in optimizing the performance. I bought the i9 not with the illusion of getting some 5.0 Ghz CPU out of it, but mostly to have the freedom to change settings and try to find the right balance of performance and power/heat management. By my understanding I am sharing a power envelope with the GPU, so putting it all towards the CPU may not be the best option. Are there any OC guides on this particular laptop? I have OC'ed on desktops many times, but I'm sure this is a different beast. Any other performance tricks? I've seen talks about other v bios. I will have to do more research on that. What about recommended repasting/thermal pads? Any success stories there?
Sorry for the endless open ended questions. I appreciate any help I can get! -

Aero 15x v8 here with 2 x Kingston HyperX Impact 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 CL15 + Samsung 970 PRO 512GB, all run like a charm
For reinstall what I do is to download latest official windows 10 x64 with "MediaCreationTool1809"
Some drivers are auto downloaded by windows, the rest from "SmartUpdate" or official Gigabyte site
About optimization, for Aero 15x v8 it's recommended to downclock the cpu ..
One question, on v9 of Aero, Gigabyte advertise that they have used intel ssd + samsung ram, is that not enough ? Why changing them ? -

Does anyone else have a very slow wake up time when opening the lid? For my i7, 1070 MQ Aero 15x it takes like up to 5 or more seconds of just a black screen and then a second of a solid blue screen before my login screen. Also i notice when closing the lid it takes about 5 seconds before the gigabyte logo goes off.

To disable hybrid sleep, go to power plan-->Change advance power setting-->Sleep-->Allow Hybrid Sleep -
Does anyone know how I could wake my Aero 15x from sleep/powered off while the lid is closed either with an external keyboard or mouse?

Did those RAM sticks work properly?
Thank you. -
- I bagged the "official" gigabyte drivers. I'm on the latest Intel & Nvidia drivers using their driver update software.
- I disabled hibernation (which I believe also disables fast start). I did this because I suspected this caused a problem with Spotify always opening at startup for me.

Do you guys know how to roll back bios for the aero? I mistakenly upgraded ti FB08 and the logo is blurry af

What version of drivers have you got installed if you don't mind sharing? -

I am having a bit of an odd behaviour with my Aero 15x. Sometimes when i use my laptop on battery and then plug it back to AC, everything seems normal but there are green pixles appearing on my desktop windows. When restart it or sometimes the screen flickers by itself, everything is back to normal. I got AC undervolted by -0.160 and on Battery -0.100. I think the problem is with the Gigabyte power profiles not switching acordingly. In Heavy gaming everything is normal and nothing strange is happening there. My temps are always below 90 degrees.
Could it be that there are driver issues or is it a Windows problem?
Edit: As i said i only get those anomalys on my Windows desktop or in Smart Manager -
Anyone know what RAM is compatible with the Aero 15 (Non X version) ? I can't seem to find a list or suggestion anywhere on the internet, and I want to upgrade from the stock 16gb to 32gb. Is it the same as the X compatibility?

I'm an owner of the gigabyte aero 15x v8,
Just wondering, if you get massive bottlenecking from single channel ram? as when I'm gaming I only use around 40-60% of GPU. (with high-performance settings) or could that be something else? just wanna use 100% of my beautiful 1070
and if that's true, if anybody could reply with an AUS link to the ram that works dual channel with the v- color. or just some other dual channel kit that has worked for someone.
Thanks. -

Jump on Overwatch 90fps to 120fps on Ultra setting. Using OC Scanner, it improve further to 135fps average with average GPU freq 1600mhz.
Anyway, sometimes it may also be that your CPU is bottle necked, have you checked your CPU usage? -
For me I just stick to high settings and 120fps limit, keeps my temps at 75C and performance is way more consistent.
On my machine, there's basically no way to max out the 1070 or else I'm throttling. There's some setting you can change in Throttlestop, but by default the CPU can tell other components to throttle. Not sure if that includes GPU, but maybe that's the bottleneck he's seeing? -

Aero 15v7:
- New Gigabyte Fusion v4.4.0 (previous version v4.3.6)
- New Smart Update v4.1.2 (previous version 4.1.0) -
I'm using the control center software from the aero15-y9 for my aero15v7 as the interface is better -
Gigabyte Fusion v4.4.0 works on my machine (15v8, W10 pro), the older version only started with admin permissions.

i'm facing a lot of problems with the type-c port on my AERO 15 (i7-7700HQ) since the last windows update. i tried to install again the drivers for USB 3.1 found here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Laptop/AERO-15--i7-7700HQ#support-dl-driver-usb31 but I always get the same message telling me that "the Asmedia USB Host Controller was not found" which is an absurd because i didn't remove any hardware from my laptop.
anyone knows how to install the Type-c drivers on the latest windows 10 x64 version?
i noticed that Gigabyte stopped updating drivers for this laptop a few months after the release - i'll remember that when i'll buy a new laptop.etern4l likes this. -
Instead they're sending a message to customers that they only care about new customers and to heck with the rest of us. I have been a huge Gigabyte fan in the past; I own 3 Brix desktops and an Aero 15X v8. The main reason I got the Aero was for its 4k screen and second M.2 slot but now I wish I had of gone with the MSI GS65. The keyboards on the MSI are fantastic (SteelSeries).
That being said did they fix the keyboard on the Aero v9 finally? Since they never fixed the issue in the second gen I'm guessing they still haven't in the latest gen.gnlu26 and tiredmeliorist like this. -

Aero 15v7 here
New control center version 19.03.21.04 looks borken to me.
Went back to 19.02.21.01 -
I reimaged windows on my new Aero Y9, didn't think it would get rid of the control center and Azure AI. Anyone know where I can download them! Appreciate your help, Cheers.

Their support is also terrible, my "d" key doesn't register when pressed unless you press pretty hard. You wouldn't think that would be a big deal, but I guess I have a light touch when I game, because I never strafe right when I press it. Sent it in to have it repaired, which took an entire month without my machine (USA). Pretty sure all they did was add a shim under my key, so now it registers, but it feels super squishy and its noticeably taller than my other keys. Now I've noticed my escape key has the same issue, and they also put a shim under my left arrow key, but it didn't get raised up so it has like 1/3 the original travel and feels really weird. I don't understand how it is so hard to make a working keyboard when literally EVERYONE else has been able to do that since the 90s.
I know a lot of laptops have issues getting optimus to run well, and I assume a lot of the crashes may be just that, but every now and then I look at the Razer and wonder if that was somehow the better pick.
