    I got a big problem

I cannot configure 4 keys´ LED, I try to select them but they dont seem to be responsive (Enter, left shift and the other 2 keys shown in black color) However the LED is working, but I cannot change the color manually (Only with the fabric presets -wave, breathing...-)

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall th Fusion and control center, upload keyboard firmware, etc... But nothing worked for me.

Did anybody have this issue before?

    Thank you

Someone tried AI Gaming & Professional on 15V7 or V8?
    Does it works well?

I share your pain. Constant ACPI errors and weekly BSODs (though a bit less frequently now that I've updated to latest drivers straight from nvidia and intel). Did sending yours in for repairs fix anything with respect to the BSODs? Every time I think about sending mine in, I fear that month long turnaround will result in them just telling me everything is fine. If I have to send it away for a month, I'm going to have to buy a replacement for work, and at that point, what's the point of trying to salvage the aero.

Wow, I have to be grateful with my service center here. On my keyboard case, I need to bring my Laptop to Japan but they say it may takes month for the keyboard to be send from the manufacturer. What we did is that they ask me to inform them about 1 week b4 I'm coming back and then they order it to me so by the time I;m back it took about 3 days for the part to arrive, and they replace the whole keyboard ( I know cause the shift key on the new part is different).
I use the latest driver from v9 model, and it seems the BSOD is more frequent than the latest on v8, haven't dared using latest Nvidia tho, last try cause lots of problem. I do overclock using OC Scanner, doesn't seems a problem with temp running on 75-80.

Ha, no. I think they only time they turned on the machine was to make sure the key 'fixes' properly registered, even if the keys feel inconsistent. I wasn't going to dare mention the BSOD problem because the standard repair for that is flash windows with their garbage stock image. Actually I'm pretty sure they worked on my machine for all but 15 minutes. The month of time was just because of weekends and slow shipping. 1 week to ship to the seller, 1 week for the seller to ship to Gigabyte. 15 Minutes of repair, then 2 more weeks of shipping to get it back.

In regards to the BSODs, I even had one just reading your post. It was just like my old Sager too, plugged in a USB drive and nothing happens. By the time you start questioning if your flash drive went bad, you get a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSOD. So frustrating, I will probably run DDU later this week, the blue screens have definitely gotten worse so its probably just the windows auto-updates stacking driver installs.

My work just got a bunch of the Precision variants of the XPS15, and man do they look nice. Sure they have their own issues and aren't as powerful, but they are a lot cheaper, better built, and Dell pro support is the best in the industry.... I just can't get over how bad the keyboard is on my Aero and Dells make me drool a little.

Yeah I was really hoping they would just replace the keyboard and I would get the correctly lit shift keys too, but no...

You get your PC to stay below 90C? Is that fully loaded? Max your settings, set v-sync to 144hz? I used XTU to undervolt CPU to -0.160 and afterburner to get +185Mhz on GPU, but I hit 90C almost immediately on max settings.

Dang. That's a bummer to hear. I share the XPS envy. Good luck with the DDU. I've been using the reliability monitor to track windows updates vs BSOD occurrences. No conclusive patterns yet.

That's gpu temp, CPU always spike to 90 and then throttle itself. On overwatch I limit the turbo speed so that more cooling can be allocated to GPU.

Can you guys tell me what's your CPU package c states in Throttlestop?
I can't go to 90% as unclewebb recommend and wonder what driver could cause that...
    Thanks

BTW : tried the new control center 19.03.30.02 and like the previous version, it doesn't work on my V7. So I stick to 19.02.23.01 which works well...
One again, don't know what king of game Gigabyte is playing here!

    Hi everyone !
Just wanted to share my experience about RAM upgrade on my Aero 15x V8.

    I had a model equipped with a 16Gb stick from Kingston : CBD26D4S9D8ME-16
I bought a new 16Gb stick from Amazon : the Kingston ValueRAM KVR26S19D8/16
My Smart Manager says : BIOS: FB08 and EC: F007 (no idea what that means)

I opened my laptop and the first thing I did was just to move the original stick from one slot to another and restart my computer.
After a few second, my computer restarted as expected, so I shut it down.
I then installed my brand new stick of Ram into the remaining slot, and restarted the computer.
After 5s, the computer restarted without a itch !
I checked if the second stick was detected : yes it was !
And finally, I checked the speed, which seem to be 2667Mhz, so everything went flawlessly !

I have no idea if my method of swapping the original stick changed anything, but I can say that regardless of the fear I had about the weird RAM compatibility thing I saw everywhere on forums, this combination of RAM stick worked perfectly for me !

Hope it will help someone !

Haven't gotten around to DDU yet, but lately I have just been shutting down my machine every time instead of allowing it to go to standby or hibernate and it seems more stable. Very unscientific tests though, so could just be coincidence.

    Greetings,

    Bought blindly 15 x9.

Seller told me, wont boot into windows but still powers on, also he took ssd and ram. Should be here in few days. What kind of ram supported? And how to reset bios?

Anyone knows reliable place in Toronto for diagnostics who wont gank me with unfair demoralizing charges?

    Thanks, and tons of appreciation.

Open the beast and you will see which kind of stick you've got.
The new stick to buy will depend on it.

For all I know there is three types :
    - Kingston : CBD26D4S9D8ME-16
    - G.SKILL
    - V-Color

If you have a Kingston RAM stick, check this post I wrote a few days ago about it : link

I also heard about people reselling their original stick, and buying a couple of HyperX sticks...

    Hope it helps !

I don't think so, just install windows following the tutorial on first page. I think gen 9 and gen 8 are quite similar, probably driver difference only.

It will support DDR4 2666MHz Memory Modules, and they are better to get in pairs if you decide to dual channel. There are only 2 DIMMS to work with, so you can use 2x8 for 16GB, 1x16GB, 2x16GB or 2x32GB. If you do use dual channel, make sure that you use the two RAM packaged together. Kingston, Corsair and G.Skill should work okay.

I personally have not seen significant speed changes between 1x16GB versus 2x8GB so it should not be that critical.

Can it support 3200mhz hyperx, even if it will work in 2400-2666mhz. Just got nice local deal for it.

Seem to be having a problem with my battery/charger on aero 15v7. The light is illumated on the charger but the battery is not charging. Windows says "plugged in, discharging"

Laptop is 1.5years old - hardly use it but I leave it in sleep mode and plugged into the charger

Hi guys, just wondering I could ask for some assistance. I've tried searching in this thread, reddit, google and haven't been able to come to a conclusion.

I purchased a second hand AERO 15 V7 (7700HQ, GTX 1060, 1080P 60Hz) model and the original owner had done a Windows reset. Only after reading up doing a fresh install I realised that these models ship with an original Patone colour calibration ICC file which I can only imagine is unique per device.

The good news is that the factory recover partion still exists and was note wiped, at least I hope so? According to Disk Management there's a 13.8GB (OEM Parition) labelled as RecoveryImage, which I'm hoping contains the original colour calibration file.

Now I've used various tools and various methods to successfully mount the partition as a simple data partition to access it's contents, but it doesn't have the tradition /windows/system32/spoof/drivers/colour folder where the ICC file is supposed to located.

So my question is, how do I use this systemrecovery partition to restore the notebook to it's factory state? I've tried using F9 using boot and System Recovery (via windows) and it keeps telling me that no system image is found?

I'm at wits end here and this has been quite a bit of work for that ONE colour calibration file :D

Just a little concern based on all the posts about ram incompatibility.

Just wanted to share my experiences with upgrading the Aero 15x v8 1070 SSD and RAM:

    1) SSD: I bought the Intel 660p 2TB m.2 NVME. Installed it in the unoccupied slot (vertical, furthest from the screen hinges). It worked first try, no problems. Enabled via disk management, formatted, running fine.

    2) RAM: Laptop came with Kingston CBD26D4S9D8ME-16. Was unable to find a local supplier for the same model, but kept finding Kingston KVR26S19D8/16 when I googled for the original. Did some digging and found that some users had reported success with the KVR26S19D8/16. Initial test in-store booted, loaded Windows, but stalled repeatedly with the new stick, also when on its own. Got a refund for the stick and went home. Ended up having the same problem with my own original stick (stall), so I left the laptop to do its thing and it came good when I got home (might have been a Windows background service that made it appear stalled).

Today went and bought the exact same KVR stick from a different store (the original one had sent my rejected stick away since the packet was open). Brought the new stick home, no luck with booting from it, even solo at first. Got the black screen of death that others have reported - when powering off, after a few seconds the machine will power itself back on. Put the original stick in solo, no problems. Played a few games of dota, then tried the new stick again. No luck. Swapped slots, put in each stick solo in different slots, haphazard experimentation. Sometimes the new KVR stick would boot on its own, sometimes not. Original stick booted fine on its own.

Tried no sticks, same symptoms as before - black screen, no activity, no clue. Tried solo sticks, dual, swapped slots, no luck. Gave it one last try with dual sticks, black screen... got sad. Decided to start pressing the F2, F10 and F12 keys because I'd seen them in Post/BIOS boot before. Suddenly the screen turned on and the Gigabyte logo appeared. Booted into Windows, 32GB physical ram reported, rebooted just to check, running ok so far. HWInfo shows ~1330Mhz (x2 DDR = 2666), timing 19-19-19-43. Signed up to the forum and started typing this.

So, two hints that *might* help people:
    1) If you have the black screen of boot death, maybe try the F12 keys (or other keys). I think by the end I was pushing them several times (e.g. 5). I think when the laptop discovers new ram (and is happy), then the boot screen will show the Gigabyte logo and text at the bottom with F2/F12 for setup screens. It seems that when it's using ram it's already happy with, then the boot screen will show the Gigabyte logo only. However, I know my actions are correlation, not necessarily causation at this point (and I'm unwilling to start swapping around sticks to recreate the situation, in case I've actually just gotten lucky).
    2) Before installing any new ram disconnect your battery. If you get stuck in the black screen boot loop, your two options are to let the battery run down or yank the battery whilst it's running (I did the latter, had no problems, but the connection is delicate and I don't recommend it when you have the option of doing it whilst it's off).

    Good luck!

[Edit] See this thread for a motivated effort to consolidate working RAM/SSD options.

@thisisscotts - thanks for posting your experience, it gave me a bit of a push to go for the G.Skill!

My experience: As mentioned above; my 7700HQ Aero 15 came with a stick of G.Skill F4-2400C16S-16GRS (the S after C16 denotes Single vvs C16D which is Dual for matched pair) and I managed to find another exact same stick for sale. Because it had the S denotion, I was still a little worried given that they weren't technically 'matched' even though they were the same model.
I picked up the stick today and it was an APR2019 date on it where as the stick in my notebook has a JAN2017 date; both timings and voltages were the exact same though.

I plugged it in, hit the power button and it was stuck on a black screen. 30 seconds goes by and my heart begins to sink and then after a few more seconds everything boots up as per normal. So I can confidently say that for anyone considering upgrading their G.Skill 16GB 2400MHz with another G.Skill F4-2400C16S-16GRS; that it works a-okay with no need to swap anything. Just straight plug and play.

My Aero 15x v7 once completely died and I had to send it for motherboard replacement (happened a year ago, has been working fine with the new moba). I never realized what it was, but I also remember leaving my laptop in sleep right before it broke, so maybe it also stopped charging like yours.

The only thing I had to do after moba replacement was transfer licenses for all my Microsoft Store items from my old moba to my new moba (two Forza games) as the Store wouldn't recognize my laptop with a new moba as my laptop and the games wouldn't launch. Steam worked fine.

I hardly use my laptop, bought it for use only when I travel so it's also set to sleep and plugged into mains all the time.

Looks like these mainboards have a life span of 1-2 years or they are just problematic

Mine died after 2 months. Granted I'm a heavy user and the laptop gets physically abused as it travels with me a lot.

    HELP
Does anyone know of a way to access the inside the webcam lens of the aero 15?
I have some strange fungus growing inside the webcam just under the glass screen.

Is it possible to open the screen housing that holds it to the bottom of laptop? Or some other way to access the webcam to get this out?
    See the pics.

Is anyone else having difficulty updating the bios on the Aero 15 X9?

I am trying to update to the latest BIOS listed in CC as well as through the manual download (FB08/F007). The window allowing me to authorize the flash shows up, and then a black cmd prompt with some text flashes onto the screen. Then it restarts Windows and nothing happens.

Hi Everyone! I have one of the original Aero 15, i7700, bought in 2017. I'm having a weird issue with it, and was hoping the collective owners can help.

    I recently added a 2nd SSD-HD into the 2nd slot: Crucial, P1 NVMe M.2 1000GB. I'm running Windows 10.

Everything is fine for a couple of days, then the drive went missing from Windows altogether. It's not even listed on Disk Manager, and even on the BIOS I couldn't find it. Doing a full start->shut down/restart did NOT solve the problem.

Then a few days later, everything started working again, without any intervention from me.

So, to troubleshoot, I ordered another HD (same model) so I can test to see what was happening. I switched HD's when the laptop wasn't recognizing the drive, and it continued to not recognize after I swapped HD's. After reading on various forums, it seemed that if I do a hard reset (hold power x 10sec), the BIOS/OS would recognize the HD.

I did that, and it worked.

The problem is, I'm noticing that whenever I do a prolonged access to the HD, Windows/BIOS would suddenly not be able to access the drive: I was watching Game of Thrones, 1080p, ~4GB, stored on the new drive, and everything stopped working after about 50 min. (Thinking back, the first "fail" was after transferring a lot of data from my main drive to the new drive, like 100GB).

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Anyone have any clue on what the cause (ie. is it the HD? The BIOS? Windows?), and any idea on how to resolve this? (I'm still wary of putting any important data on that drive, in case that the drive totally fails).

    Hello again,

I'm back with a peculiar problem.

I've noticed that one of the casings that cover the rubber leg of my laptop has broken. I don't know how, and don't know when. But the rest of laptop is A. OK.

I contacted Gigabyte Support for help and they raised their hands and gave up straight saying that its not their problem and I should speak to their official repair company MendIT Computer Repairs Ltd for help.

I've contacted the company and I was estimated a £150 repair charge for this and this is not part of standard warranty.

I've bought this laptop 3 months back. Three months! and this laptop came with 2 years warranty. I feel that this should also be part of the warranty.

I wanted to warn you guys to keep an eye out for yours.

on a side note, does anyone know where I can buy replacement parts for the laptop ? I've tried google and the only parts I can come up with is the screen.

    That's pretty gross...

I haven't taken apart mine, but most of the bezels snap-on without tools. Looking at the how its made video that featured our machines, it looks like the camera enclosure is no different (go to 2:26):

If you have small plastic shims, like a guitar pick, you can probably wedge it underneath the plastic and pop off the cover. Don't use the seam at the top of cover, use the seam on the bottom that you can see when you partially close the lid. That's my best guess, YMMV.

Has anyone have the problem where the SmartManager doesn't apply the setting, such as OSD off, fan mode quiet, etc, after a restart and/or hibernation?? Using version 18.0.3.4

Just installed Control Center [19.05.10.01] on my Aero v8, and the interface seems to be broken. Can someone tried this version?

Does anyone know if I can do a complete wipe of Windows on the SSD and do a clean install on a newer one? I'm not sure if there's something I need to worry about for something like this.
I had a bunch of issues initially, and somehow lost the ability to use most function-key combos since one of the included tools broke through just normal use of the system.
