Try an older version, I remember the newer ones don't work all that well on the older gen laptops.

Is there are some possibility to request GIGABYTE to adopt the newest ControlCenter for older versions of the laptop?
Looks like GIGABYTE just drop off support of older laptops after newer had arrived. -

Just picked up this laptop. Is there any documentation/manual for the AI widget?

you have to remove any usb drive or sd card and retryalex1019 likes this. -
I've got nothing plugged in, I wonder why else it won't let me update.... Hopefully there is a fix or workaround for me soon
*Edit* I followed the instructions here and found out which app was stopping me from updating.Last edited: May 28, 2019 -
Here
So if you find a way to make them answer, tell me! -
It's true that it has been quite quiet over the last few months but there were definitely several updates for V7 when the V8 was already out. -
What are your idle temperature for the 8750H?
At idle with fans on normal and HWmonitor open, my Aero 15 X9 has CPU temps hover around 50 in the range of 48-52C, with occasional excursions up to ~60 when something happens in the background.
These temps are normal, right? -
Have a look at Gigabyte's Aero 15 driver download page. No graphics driver released this year, the most recent is dated 2018 and has release number 391.01 while official nvidia drivers are at 430.86
(Not-so-)Smart Update even suggests to remove newer driver versions (installed by the honorable windows update itself) in favour of older ones(see highlights). To make things worse, it does not offer the most recent drivers available on the driver download page.
I assume that this situation will befall newer Aero 15 modells as soon as they are out of warranty. -
Aero 15v7 through Smart Update:
- Card Reader Driver: 10.0.18362.31248 (previous version 10.0.15063.31236)
- Gigabyte Fusion: 4.4.5 (previous version 4.4.0)Last edited: Jun 3, 2019 -
Anyone know what these bars do in the control centre?

I think my mobo is dying.
I replaced the transcend ssd because it stopped booting and was having corruption issues. Replaced with a brand new 970 Evo plus, and 2 weeks later this ssd is failing to boot. I tried both ssd slots.
Anyone have a similar problem? I'm hesitant to start an rma because they'll probably just try to replace the ssd. It seems likely the ssds are becoming corrupt and/or the nvme controller is dying. Any other ideas?
Edit: just checked the ssd and the main windows partition has went from NTFS to Raw. Looks like it is corrupting the drive or just failing to see it properly.Last edited: Jun 4, 2019 -

Yeah, sure, "shipped from Taiwan" entirely justifies why it took 2 months.
In 2019 postal services look like that:
I hope you were joking -
Does anyone else have a problem where the screen seems dimmer than usual even at full brightness?

Transcend ssd died. Samsung ssd works for 2 weeks then stops booting and is corrupted. Put the samsung into a new system, it is recognized a few times as I try to repair it and then the system stops recognizing it. I had to physically remove it just to install windows to another drive in this system. I'll update if I ever figure out what happened here. Sending the laptop in for repairs next week.
Edit: the samsung ssd has completely failed physically after being in my 15x for 2 weeks. The data was corrupt, partition table corrupt. It booted a few times, but then started causing my system to hang during bios recognition. It also caused nvme controller error in Windows, and stopped being recognized completely. I believe when it gets warmer it stops working. Obviously I can't say for sure the 15x killed this drive, but it sure seems so.Last edited: Jun 7, 2019 -

Hey all, i have a Gigabyte Aero 15x (i7-8750H) and for some reason when I plug in a headset to the 3.5 mm jack, the microphone is not recognized, same with if i plug in a USB headset. Has any one else ran into this issue? I have updated all my drivers utilizing the smart update tool given by gigabyte.

Hello everyone. I am thinking about buying the Aero 15 2019 model with gtx 1660ti and i7 9750h. 1080p 144hz model. I was wondering a few things. First, with a thermal repaste and undervolting on the cpu, what kind of temperatures should I expect when gaming? Secondly, how much should the battery last when doing light tasks such as surfing the web and streaming video? Also, is there anything I should know before I buy this laptop?

Does anyone know if this kit will work in the Aero 15x v8 (i7 8750H + 1070)?

So I'm now the owner of a new Aero 15 8750H 2070, but am having a few issues with it. When I got it, I put in a second smaller SSD, so I now have a 250GB for OS and a 1TB for media. I did a fresh install onto the 250GB and completely wiped the old one, so I no longer have the backup, which I'm feeling now may have been a mistake, and I'm not sure if it's the cause of any of my problems.
The first issue is with using XTU. It comes up saying that it won't be able to automatically restart to it's stable state if there's an issue. I've made sure to install as an admin, but it still has the problem. What might be causing this, and what problems might I run into if I go ahead with undervolting regardless?
The other thing is booting pressing the F9 key no longer does anything. Is this because I got rid of the recovery partition? Will it likely cause me any problems and is there any way I can get it back?
Thanks. -
How much amp can the usb port on the v8 version supplied?

I would really appreciate any advice on this one, as I rely on XTU. -
Your settings may be different to mine (I skew my setup towards quietness rather than performance and I run a Balanced power plan, I disable turbo boost and re-enable it only when the task I'm doing might need it) and I set cooling mode to Passive. I also undervolt with XTU, although on this machine I only gained a benefit of two or three degrees (I got a much better result on the Lenovo X1 Extreme).
I have my fans set to 'quiet' incidentally, otherwise they are on all the time. It's not the loudness of the fans which irritates me, it's the high pitch of the fan motor (which is actually more audible at lower rpm).Last edited: Jun 28, 2019 -
if you still have this partition, you have a chance of bringing back the factory reset feature, albeit my method is a bit convoluted. the F9 key relies on not only that partition, but the original factory image to be installed, as the two are linked upon first bootup.
lets get the easy stuff out of the way first. you need to have an empty usb drive, at least 16GB though i feel like i needed a 32GB drive. once you do, install and run Smart USB Backup from Gigabytes website and choose the flash drive to turn into your USB Backup. once done DO NOT try to factory reset your device (****running the USB Backup at this point, which does NOT have the recovery image, will ERASE EVERYTHING, INCLUDING FACTOR RECOVERY IMAGE). if you go into the backup you made and look inside the recovery folder (i think that is what it was called) there will be no install files inside. you are going to have to manually copy over the windows install files over.
to get access to the recovery drive, do the following:
1) run command prompt as administrator (press win + s → type cmd → right click "command prompt" → left click "run as administrator"
2) type "diskpart" without the quotes, and hit enter.
3) type "list disk" without the quotes, and hit enter.
4) find the original disk based off of its size... or if it is the only disk remaining.
5) type "select disk [insert disk number]" where the disk number is the one you found. (i don't think i need to keep repeating myself saying "without quotes and, hit enter")
6) type "list part"
7) find the recovery partition number that is related to the recovery partition. you can match the size of the partition with the partition i said to find earlier using disk management.
8) type "select part [insert partition number]" where the partition number is the one you found that pertains to the recovery drive.
9) type "assign"
10) you should see a message saying "DiskPart successfully assigned the drive letter or mount point"
once done, you can go into you file explorer and you will see your recovery drive show up. i advise you to backup EVERYTHING in this partition. for the USB Backup itself, browse the original recovery drive, and copy the installation files from the folder "RecoveryImage" the files should go something like install.swm, install1.swm, install2.swm and so on. copy all of these to where the recovery image should be on the Smart USB Backup. you should also have access to your display's factory calibration in the "Display Profiles" folder. the profile from there goes into a separate folder on the USB backup if i remember correctly.
here is an image of the process (left to right) on my msi gs60 (excluding the Smart USB Backup):
and an image of the backup recovery drive i extracted from my aero 15x v8. ignore the System Volume Information files. i used EaseUS only for this particular backup.
EDIT: if you run into any issue creating the USB Backup using gigabyte's software, use Rufus to format the drive with a GPT partition table first, then try again.Last edited: Jun 28, 2019bberry110 likes this. -

Can you guys confirm that recent versions of Aero 15 don't have keyboard issue(input ignoring, double input, etc.), including most recent one(with renewed chassis)?

I just got the 15-x9, so far so good.

So I bought a Aorus 15 xa with the 2070. I had a strange issue and I can’t locate anyone having the same issue. I been playing Wow and noticing random black rectangle/squares showing up on my screen. I even isolated one and plugged my laptop into my TV and it’s not showing up on the TV screen but is showing up on my laptop.

I emailed Gigabyte to find out what these bars mean, and apparently the bars next to the CPU control the Intel Turbo Boost and the bars next to the GPU toggle between power saving mode and performance mode. -
Another phenomenon I saw a couple of days ago is that my bios no longer looks like it did two weeks ago. I'm on FB08, which looked attractive and had a good range of options. When I looked at it a few days ago (same version) it's now just a bland skeleton bios, basic grey and blue interface, and most of my options have gone. I have no idea how that happened - all I've done is update the control center app, deinstall and reinstall XTU, and update chipset drivers. It's also running a little hotter. -
thought some of you guys might be interested in this pwm test i did with the razer blade 15 OLED. the gigabyte aero 15 OLED uses the same panel. notebookcheck did not mention that the 60Hz pwm isn't actually a pwm signal in a sense

I've been having issues with "Deep Control" when setting fan curves. I've set it as shown in the picture, but when my temperature is 40C the fan is still very quiet, well below 45%. I'm comparing this to 45% on Fixed Mode for custom fan control. Even if I set the curve to be at 100% starting from 40C nothing changes, so Deep Control doesn't seem to be working for me. Anyone have a solution? I have an Aero 15w (GTX 1060, i7-8750h).

I've spent all morning trying to game on my brand new Aero 15-x9 for the first time.
Loaded with the i9 & 2070, 16 GB RAM (I'm getting another 16GB stick in the mail today), and 2 1TB SSDs.
I have tried undervolting with throttlestop to decrease temps, I've tried pegging the fan to MAX 100%, I've tried combinations of all these things. I'm thinking the machine is simply getting too hot (which is stupid). My OG Aero 15 with the 1060 ran Fortnite just fine, around 100+ FPS and 144Hz without issue.
Both machines are 1080P, no 4K. It is pushing a couple monitors, but that shouldn't matter much.
The laptop is on a stand so it's not directly on the desk for better airflow.
Any ideas?
Do I underclock the i9 and try to keep temps down? If so how would I do this?
Any other suggestions are welcomed. I'm not too keen on repasting as it would void warranty.
Thank you -
"Please kindly note from the Intel XTU site, the utility is not valid for the laptop CPU. (You may refer the Intel's site here) In addition, the setting in Intel XTU will force to change certain settings in the Control Center that we do not suggest you use the utility on the laptop. "
I'm baffled since the Lenovo X1 Extreme I had has the same CPU and undervolting is standard procedure. I doubly baffled since XTU seems to come bundled in with the Gigabyte Control Center download.
There's no point in me trying to go back to Throttlestop because whilst that was installed I couldn't open Gigabyte Control Center. I had to deinstall TS, and GCC, then reinstall GCC and re-invoke XTU. I then discovered my XTU watchdog feature no longer worked and I suddenly got the bland skeleton BIOS.
What settings in the Control Center does XTU change? -
Looking at your signature, you had the i7-7700 previously. The problem comes from the i7-8750h and up (especially including your i9), they are all volcano chips. You could absolutely consider lowering the boost clock on your machine with throttlestop. Another thing to look at is the windows power profile that gigabyte put on. On my v8 they set the minimum cpu frequency to be max all the time. This generally just clocks the cpu higher for now reason, just let the cpu clock up when needed instead.
I assume the X9 is similar enough to the V8 to say that you shouldn't mess with repasting. The cooling system itself is not adequate and gets saturated with the heat of the system. Repasting helps get the heat to the cooling system, but if that system is already hot then it doesn't do much... My system has liquid metal and still hits 90C on most games.
As for benchmarks, I don't play Fortnite, but I do play other e-sport titles like Overwatch and with my 8750/1070mq I play on very high/ultra and at a locked 120fps. Set to 120fps instead of 144 gets me 75-85C instead of 90C. -
Thanks for your advice. I've since bought a cooling pad and tried to keep the CPU from going full max and I'm gaming at mostly in the 80s at 144hz

Is there a list of known models that is prone to issues like Aero 15 W8 ...etc? I recall seeing that somewhere but can't find it right now. I do like the design of aero better and the long battery life is a huge plus. Keeping my eyes on the Aorus v8 thread for updates but any advices would be appreciated.
I am considering the following models...
CAD $2699 @ AERO 15-X9-RT5P w/ Core™ i7-8750H, 16GB, 1TB SSD, 15.6inFHD, RTX 2070, Windows 10 Pro
CAD $2599 @ AORUS 15 XA-F74CDW w/ Core™ i7-9750H, 16GB, 512GB SSD + 2TB HDD, 15.6in Full HD 240Hz, RTX 2070, Windows 10 -
Machine is a beast.

Greetings,
I own an Aero 15 X9 and I tried to update the Control Center from itself, but Avast messed the installation up putting some important stuff into the virus chest getting it crashed. I restored those archives (gllicense.exe and something else) and set up an exception but it no longer works out, it doesn't even open when I double click or run as administrator either, which means I'm not able to control the fans speed, CPU TPD, Keyboard RGB, literally NOTHING. Reinstalling several times different versions didn't solve my issue. Does anyone know any solution?
Thank you in advance
