I bought a refurbished Aero 15X in february this year and appart from the typical keyboard and temp problems it had been working great. Then, in june, I was about to start working and suddenly the computer would not boot, being stuck in a windows loading screen loop. Thought this was a software problem so I managed to start it in boot repair mode and I got inside just enough to recover all my data. After that, the transcend ssd wasn't even recognised by the computer, and only the bios screen would show up.

As I really needed the computer I bought a 970 EVO and reinstalled the OS (so I finally got around the much needed fresh install :).
Last week I contacted eSupport and after 9 days they only told me to avoid changing anything (too late for that) and to contact a service center called Ename to check if this ssd failure was caused by a more problematic hardware fault. So all in all, it doesn't look like I'm getting that ssd replaced.

Thing is, I'm scared of those faulty motherboards that were mentioned here. Has anyone contacted that service center (Ename) for this reason?

Thanks for the confirmation. That is a weird design decision. Now, I'm slightly less confident in the longevity of the hinge...

Any idea what thermal pads are used on the Aero 15-x9? Mine didn't come with any and I'm thinking of putting some Fujipoly Extremes but I'm wondering if it uses 1.0mm or 0.5mm. The heatsink seems kinda flimsy.

Hi guys, I have a GIGABYTE AERO 15 OLED SA-7US5130SH. For some reason, it stutters every 10 sec when on battery (doesn't matter if watching Youtube or typing in notepad). When on AC, there are no stutters. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    What I've done:
-set power option to High Performance when on battery.
-set Nvidia Control Panel to preferred the high-performance Nvidia processor, also preferred maximum performance.
-disable/turn off any hardware monitoring software like HWinfo or Rivaturner.

And nothing fixes this battery stutter problem.....

Anyone have any ideas where to get replacement screws for the bottom panel? Mine came with some stripped screws (open box) and I wouldn't mind replacing them.

Could you solve the problem with usb and the rj45 port on your usb-c adapter? I bought a usb-c docking station and have similar problems. Only the hdmi port seems to work. Can't say if it's since the last bios update.

It seems the latest BIOS must have some widespread issues as it (fb09) was pulled from the website. Now I can only see the previous one (fb08)

A few problems as well after upgrading the bios :
    - right after the bios upgrade, the aero 15XV8 was recognized as a aero15W --> among other problems, the GTX1070 was not recognized anymore. Couldn't find a way to downgrade the bios. I changed a few settings and rebooted 5 times, and the model changed again, back again to 15XV8. Pheew!
    - my usb-c vga adapters don't work anymore.
    - the usb 3.0 ports are recognized as usb 2.0 (intermittent problem)
As makku says, it seems the latest bios has issues!

Hey, I'm thermal throttling at 90C when running CS:GO, this isn't a very demanding game and the CPU utilisation is only at around 15%. Is this normal/is there anything I can do about this? Thanks

Probably the best thing to do at this point is get a cooling pad.

Also, do you have the newer control panel?

I purchased a Razer slim 165W adapter (part RC30-0165) from ebay and it works great with the Aero 15x V8. I was looking for something that was smaller than the Gigabyte adapter but would still be reasonably powerful to use on the go. So far I've been happy, I haven't tried to game on it though.

Anyone have an issue when after opening the lid to wake the laptop it takes up to 5 or 6 seconds before the screen turns on? The keyboard will light up after a second or two but the sign in screen takes forever.

Just sleep, I made sure hibernate was completely off, same with the hybrid sleep settings. If I put the laptop to sleep with the sleep function key and wake it up with the power button it will still wake up slowly with the keyboard lighting up first too.

I recently had Gigabyte Aero 15W RMA'd. Motherboard was replaced. Now BIOS doesn't show SSD in boot menu, and it didn't show in F12 boot options either. It's however shows in SATA list, and boots fine into WIndows.
Anyone had similar issue, any way to fix it?

Damn the official bios now downgraded to FB08, seems FB09 has better stability in BSOD Driver_power_State_failure tho. Hope to be re-released back with bug free.

I already said it in the past, there is really something terrible in this thread: people don't understand that it now covers many Aero 15 variants with different hardware revisions and therefore many different software and driver versions.

You should ALWAYS say which one you are talking about, otherwise it's impossible to follow and understand.

If you don't want to repeat again and again which version you own, then simply put it in your sign.

    Thank you

I did a fresh install and test the battery stutter after each program installation to see which causes it. I found the culprit. It was not any programs that I installed. It was when I set the Preferred graphic processors to "High performance NVIDIA processor" instead of "Auto-select." This makes it always use the Nvidia GPU but it seems to stutter every 10 sec on battery....maybe throttle? (but why throttle even for watching a simple Youtube video or typing in Notepad?). With Auto-select, the System process (Optimus I'm guessing) will always use about ~10% CPU to check when you're using 2D/3D programs so it can switch. This is kinda annoying. Can you implement a new BIOS update that allows the Nvidia GPU to use full power on battery to stop it from stuttering on battery?

I also think that the newer version was more stable. My Oculus Rift S ran imho better with it.

@g85222456 Will there come a fixed version of the new bios for 15X v8?

I just did a repaste and replaced a fan on my 2017 aero 15, and now when I put it back together there is no power whatsoever, on battery or plugged in, none of the lights are coming on. Any one have any advice?

Edit: When I plug the battery in there is a tiny spark, and if I push the power button the wifi indicator flashes once, and that's it. The wifi indicator is the only sign of power I have seen.

If it was me I'd open it back up and go through the motions again and just make sure everything is hooked back up properly. Make sure their wasn't any pads or shielding left out if it had any.

I'm gettin an x9 in tomorrow. Hopefully my fans are fine but it is an open box off ebay so we will see.

I redid everything three times, only thing I can think of is a potential motherboard problem.

Anyone have a guess on what gigabyte would charge for parts/labor to repair a 2017 aero 15 mobo?

When at my house, I connect to my external monitor through the displayport. This is driven by the Nvidia GPU. Any programs that are opened while monitor is connected also use the nvidia GPU. Problem is, when I leave those programs keep the gpu active and use a ton more battery. Only way I can release the GPU is to log off windows and back in. This allows the intel gpu to be used. Anyone know a more elegant way to do this?

Did you unplug the battery when you did it? I would also try reseating the ram or running with only one stick (not sure how many you have). You can also disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30+ seconds to try to clear out any remaining charge.

Yes i now maged to Flash on a 2nd try back to FB08 from FB09...……….. BUT now my NVIDIA GPU is NOW not found .

Windows 10x64 bit only Device Manager sees Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

F12 show bios fb08. as does Windows Systeminfomation.

Already removed all Nvidia drivers, and wanted to reinstall them , but driver is not allowing install.

Microsoft support suggested resetting Windows to an earlier build without any effect. Other suggesting is a fresh install, but my feeling is that Bios was not flashed back OK :-(

When trying to reFlash FB09 or FB08 I now get error that SmartFlash is not compatible with your machine.

ALSO Opened Gigabyte Ticket, but No feedback or return call form this crappy support.

Is there a MANUAL Way to Force the Bios flash?

Did you reset the bios settings? I also would try do disable the "3D Graphic Acceleration" on the "Advanced" tab in the bios, save, restart, enable "3D Graphic Acceleration" and restart.

PS. Bios version FB0A came out today...will try it now.

I did unplug the battery when I did it, it was pretty hard to get out though so I wonder if forcing it out might have done something. I tried holding the power button and swapping the ram around and it's still the same, I followed a few YouTube guides pretty much to the letter so it should be working unless I somehow messed up the battery when removing it, but even then the ac power should probably still work.

Where is the reset cmos button? I was looking around to try and remove the battery but couldn't find one, but resetting it is definitely worth a try.
