Already swap for the precision drivers, but the trackpad is a bit laggy and not precise. Battery setting are in performance mode...
1200$ is not much, as i bought mine one year ago around 2500€ (2735$), it's a 4k screen.
    Thanks for your input !

    ATTENTION!

I just wanted to share an interesting finding regarding battery consumption for those of you who get around 3h on battery. I am on Windows 1903 and have newest Nvidia Studio drivers (26.21.14.3186) as they are optimized for Adobe Lightroom. The downside of having new drivers, as some of you experience, is that the battery is drained more heavily when on battery (no AC). Even disabling the Nvidia dGPU via DevManView at first does nothing (strangely maybe even increases consumption a little) and still show a discharge of around 30W as seen in HWiNFO.
HOWEVER, if you restart the notebook AFTER you disabled the dGPU the discharge is similar maybe even a little bit higher, BUT if you ENABLE the dGPU now, the discharge drops after a couple of seconds (first you notice an increase) to around 15W. Et voila, now it lasts twice as long! Note that disabling the dGPU again increase consumption again, which I find very strange.

Please report, if this has helped you. Also, if someone, can figure out or inform me why consumption does not decrease (even increase) when disabling dGPU when started with enabled dGPU? Anyone who can figure a way to decrease discharge without restarting after disabled dGPU is also very welcome.

This didn't work for me. I lhave aero 15 OLED XA. While disabling dGPU did nothing, when I disabled iGPU, dGPU was running at a low enough frequency that I was getting 4+ hours life time. I feel like I was fooled into buying this laptop because of 5+ hours claim that I read on reviews. Is there a known set of drivers that would give me that battery life?

    Hi All

I'm new to the forum and came here because of the Aero 'issues' and difficulties.
I searched for JEDEC RAM and found this at a great price:

    Kingston KVR26S19D8/16 DDR4-2666 NB SO-DIMM ValueRam 16GB CL19 - 260pin 1.2V Memory Module

This is the 16GB stick I needed for the Aero 15X-V9 and it plugged right in and booted at 2666MHz with no issues at all.
I can confirm that the timings are identical to the SAMSUNG RAM already in the machine.

The 8GB stick (KVR26S19S8/8) has the same timings and should work for those looking for 16GB in dual channel.

Thanks for the informative forum thus far!

Has anyone had luck with the aero oled and linux(mint)? Cant get the wifi card to work. Have an intel replacement on the way but would love to keep the killer if possible (Killer(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX1650x 160MHz Wireless Network Adapter (200NGW).

I solved this issue in windows 10 in Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Power run the troubleshooter.
In my case, some power saving functions were not fully enabled for some subsystems.

    Fellow HDR lover,

I recently got my Aero 15 OLED and I'm really liking it so far.
When I switch to HDR in Windows Netflix, Youtube is properly showing HDR content.

However in Games like the Hitman 2, AC:O the "HDR" function is greyed out telling me I need a HDR display (duh...).

I got a HDR TV as a references and its working there just fine.

Does any of you now what may be the reason why its not working or any AERO 15 OLED owner her that can confirm this ?

Hello, I have a problem with my Aero 15 i7-7700 (first version, not 4k). One of my usb ports stopped working (the one near dc-in port). I'm not sure, but looks like it happened after updating on lates windows 10 build. I tried to delete and reinstal usb controller driver from device manager, it doesnt help. I dont know why, but I dont have restore point to previous one windows build.

Aero 15 X9 (rtx 2070). The F9 boot option is not working. I am attaching a screen shot of the disk layout so someone please compare with theirs to see if there's a partition problem. Also, if anyone know what to do to fix it?

I'm sure someone has already asked this question, but can someone who has experience with both the 60hz oled and 144hz/240hz lcd versions of the Aero or other similar 15.6" laptops help me out with which I should get?

I am leaning towards the oled mainly from concerns of backlight consistency with all of the lcd units, is the high refresh on the lcd versions that noticeable (considering they seem to have slow pixel response anyway) and does it outweigh the benefits of the oleds?

I bought an Aero 15 x8 with a 4k panel from the Amazon UK Warehouse for £1300, and so far I am quite satisfied with it. It seems very stable, and didn't have issues yet. However, except for two concerns.

Firstly, my Pantone calibrated profile only works in color managing apps like photoshop and lightroom. Outside that in Windows and on the web everything looks oversaturated. How to get the Pantone profile to work throughout the whole system?

Secondly, there is a gap of around a millimeter or two between the top of the lower bezel and the screen where dust may collect. Along the edge of the screen the gap differs slightly in wideness, in some parts it is more firmly attached to the screen. Is this a legitime source of concern or not really?

After I suspend my computer (aero 15 X9) the keyboard never comes back, so I have to restart the computer to be able to login in windows. it wasn't happening some time ago. I've checked and when if windows 10 safe mode the problem doesn't happens. How could I find the culprit of it?

Was it after a recent Windows 10 update? If not, my suggestion would be to: check Windows updates and make sure everything is up to date, and also check the Keyboard option under Windows' Device Manager and run the Troubleshooter. It might try reinstalling the drivers which might fix the issue.

I remember when this happened to me, I opened the laptop up to reseat the ribbon cable, and things have been fine since :)

Oh wait, that doesn't happen in safe mode. Then try uninstalling fusion/keyboard drivers, reboot, and reinstall them to see if that works.

This is unfortunately the expected behavior. For two displays to be driven by the thunderbolt port with this adapter, two DisplayPort signals must be wired to the thunderbolt controller, which is not the case here. Other devices do support such a configuration, like many Dell XPS models.

Some other thunderbolt docks (like the HP Zbook dock) get around this limitation by building an MST hub into the dock itself. This allows the full bandwidth of the DisplayPort signal (usually limited to DP 1.2) to be split between multiple display outputs. Consequently, you would be limited to 2x 4k30 displays in such a case.

    I have the same one 15X v8 (i7 8750H w/ 1070)
I think it is bc your dock, the startech, uses the USB protocol instead of the TB one. Or as alaskajoel said the dock itself have the MST hub.

As far as I know the the 15Xv8 has a fully wired TB3 port (40gb/s). Only the charging capability is missing. According to the technical specifications of my dock, it can handle 2x4k displays@60hz or 1x5k display@60hz, so it's not using the MST technique.

If that is in fact your dock, its actually not even a Thunderbolt dock but a USB-C dock instead. It only uses DisplayPort Alt mode for the single HDMI 1.4 port. The dual DisplayPort outputs are provided by a DisplayLink chip which is basically a USB 3.0 video adapter. Those ports are being driven by software via your CPU and not the GPU.

Yes, I can see the DisplayLink display driver in the device manager. How much bandwidth is available on the laptop's usb-c/tb3 port? If it does not have the 40gbit/s it wouldn't work with the 2x4k@60hz. That's what I assume at least. Besides, I can use the displays which are connected to the dock for playing games with the dedicated gpu.

The DL-6000 chip in that dock can use the full 10gbps from USB-C in the Aero. The HDMI signal is sent directly from the USB-DP Alt signal so it doesn't count against that limit. All displays using the DisplayLink outputs use their proprietary DL3 compression algorithm to shrink the bandwidth required to output the image. The method employed in this newest version of their compression algorithm is not publicised but it's likely using some combination of variable refresh rate, limited color space, chroma subsampling, etc. It is also adaptive, so depending on what else is being used over the USB/DMI bus, (gigabit ethernet, USB peripherals, SATA and nvme drives, etc.), The displays can use more bandwidth to improve the image.

Thanks for the clarification. I was looking for a dock which can handle 2x4k@60hz displays independent. That's why I chose this dock.

There are still some things not clear for me:
On the product page of the 15Xv8 they say it has tb3. Also there is a lightning sign next to the port on the laptop.
How many PCIe lanes are wired with the usb-c/tb3 port of my laptop?

The Aero has 4x lanes of PCIe 3.0, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 and DP1.2 wired to the thunderbolt controller.

So my aero 15 X9 is presenting a problem. I think it's software related. When I'm in the battery it's fixing the cpu speed at a low level (0,8ghz (8 x 100) or 1,7ghz (17 x 100)). I have checked the powerplan and it's set for high performance, with minimum processor speed of 80% and maximum 100%. I don't know what could be wrong as to set the processor at such slow speeds and why it's stuck and not changing the speed on the fly. I've checked with AIDA and it's not throttling either.

Do you use the Gigabyte Control Center software? It could be getting downclocked in there.

Maybe a better question would be: how recent is this? Was there a program or update that you installed (or uninstalled) recently?

Correct, no power delivery. The 4 lanes of PCIe are taken off the PCH so while the maximum bandwidth is theoretically capable of 4x PCIe 3.0, it will never achieve it in practice.

Leaving some random documentation here for someone lucky to find:

15x v8 does not support external gpu enclosures very well (no hot plugging, at least on razer core x chroma) with bios version FB05 (very very old version) - on reconnect the egpu is not detected in device manager, requires reboot. Updating to FB0A (latest, 2019) made the situation better, the egpu was detected on reconnection but couldn't be enabled in device manager due to some error code. (note for anyone updating bios - very scary process for this machine, mine blue screened in the middle of the BIOS update but everything was fine). I was concerned FB0A would have locked the cpu power limits but gigabyte have taken no such step. Then I unlocked the bios and overclocked the ram, ofc had to cmos clear a bunch of times while testing. The bios update (other ones may work too) either in combination with the cmos clear or me figuring out how to eject the egpu properly (nv task tray icon -> disconnect) have fixed all the egpu issues. Now it can be disconnected/reconnected without reboot, reconnect just requires manually enabling from device manager. I already had latest TB3 firmware even on such an old bios, likely most of this same model does too.

eGPU hasn't been discussed much here. one post on egpu.io mentioned disabling the internal gfx - not necessary. the gfx selector built into windows 10 will route apps to the egpu. sadly the nv drivers should take care of this but don't. egpu looks like an afterthought for nv and ms, just by luck it works. but it does.

misc note on ram overclocking; painless process to dump/mod/flash the bios, holy grail finally achieved. cmos clear is a pita, battery connector is hard to remove. wiggle it out from each side, use a plastic pry tool to dig into the connector. leave battery and rtc connectors unplugged when testing settings. just leave on AC, bottom panel connected but unscrewed, and if can't post unplug AC and hit the power button for a cmos reset. after a cmos clear the machine always reboots itself 3 times (sometimes even showing bios splash) to setup (presumably) its default memory timings. makes testing a long process. fyi no you can't overclock iGPU or bclk or turn off spread spectrum from bios.

tCWL is not a mistake, it really goes that low. tCL and tRCD/tRP cannot be lowered any more. CR 1T wont post. tREFI errors at 64000, fine at 32000. some of the timings entered into bios don't correlate with software detection or always off by 1. not sure what's going on there. 3666 just doesn't work: atrocious timings, +150mV SA, more Vddr doesn't work. modules don't scale with Vddr. haven't pushed other timings further with this clock, anything more is marginal. m-die is not world's best, but obviously capacity. being able to tighten it up is novel and nice, benchmarks prove perf gain.

Question - Has anyone seen a serious battery drain after updating to Windows 10 1903? I did a clean install on the laptop and went to 1903 and all of a sudden my battery life is cut into half. I've ran all the powercfg checks and what not but there is no answer as to why the battery is draining so fast.

    Anyone got solutions?

Not on my x9. What power plan(s) have you tested with? What Nvidia drivers are you using? Do you have the "hybrid graphics" option selected in the Nvidia Control Panel? If yes, try switching to "integrated" and test further. I bet the issue will be with some sort of driver compatibility wonkiness.

Ran through all of that to no avail. I ended up taking a bullet and doing a clean install to win 10 1809 and now the laptop is normal as if nothing ever happened. Running cooler with no spikes and no issues. Not sure if its an isolated incident. I've read online where win 10 1903 is causing all this chaos.

Edit: I forgot to mention im running the Aero Oled with the 2070

Hey guys, has anyone found a way to reverse the FN keys? I'm literally going insane from pressing the FN key AND the F-keys to control the brightness or volume. On my old laptop there was a key reverse button.

I don't believe that 2600 euro machine will be missing such a basic feature, so can somebody enlighten me, please?

Sadly I assumed there would be an FN key lock setting in the bios, but I do not see it. Seems very strange to me.

Has anyone had an issue with the hinge where after leaving the laptop lid open for a while (let's say at least half of an hour) it creaks and cracks while you close it? And the longer I have the lid open, the worse it gets? I'm not sure if I just need to get my hinges greased or if this isn't that big of a deal. But yeah to be specific, while closing it there will be a few spots of greater resistance which leads to a cracking sound as the lid passes that specific angle.

I'm officially going to call the Aero OLED my worst laptop experience, even before my old HP which needed 8 rmas for wifi failure (HP later recalled the model, good call). I preordered the YA the instant XoticPC had it in stock, I did not order anything extra so they have no fault in its OOB demise.

Since day 1 my unit has had
    • Non-functional SD card slot (nothing fixed it like it did for others)
    • 1 pixel wide Horizontal line across screen only visible in certain scenes (blends in with others and I forget about it a lot except when watching movies because boy does it become visible)
    • Horrendous fan ticking anytime its not flat (some of us like to use ergonomic stands, gigabyte!)
Because of the trip I am on and my need of a laptop for work I was unable to return the laptop to XoticPC for exchange or refund as neither would have arrived in time for me, together it was decided to rely on Gigabytes RMA process here in Germany.

I just went through RMA round #1 with Gigabyte DE and surprise!! they changed the fans and everything except...
    • 3 days later, the same ticking noise has re-developed
    • SD card slot...still dead
    • Screens still rocking its line.
I am literally back to where I started with a $3,500 machine which is unacceptable. I can only pray when Xotic gets back to me they will allow me to ship it back to them without its OG box from Germany for refund, I am not playing the how many RMAs does it take to fix a brand new laptop game. If not, I am boned on it and probably will have to contact Affirm to see if there is any recourse.

It makes me sad though, because past that I am in love with the thing. I am considering buying the highest sku outright instead of financing it but the problems with this 9750H unit scare me. This was supposed to be a mobile music production machine not a headache generator.

Happened the same to me and Gigabyte told me that I had to contact a certified workshop to have it fixed, but when I contacted them they told me to send the laptop because it could have a board fault. I had replaced the ssd with a 970 evo so I knew that everything worked fine and I just wanted the ssd changed, but they told me no.

Well wish me luck, the sc here have tested with other ssd and the laptop worked fine, they are willing to replace it at no cost (I wonder will they still use the Transcend 110 or upgrade it with the same model as the new XA line).

Hey, I was also messing with the ram recently on Aero 15x v8
and I also purchased the same Kingston HyperX ram!
However, it didn't work and contacted Gigabyte why it wouldn't work
    and here's what they said

    "
    Dear Valued Gigabyte Customer,

This notebook is a bit picky on the memory. You want to make sure using memory with Samsung B-die. I would recommend this Crucial memory below. Thank you.

    Regards,

    Technical Support Team"

and I realized there are two types of HyperX rams on the market right now which is made by Samsung OR SK Hynix
the one I got has HYNIX ram so it won't work. So I'm going to try out and buy it again from a different market that has SAMSUNG ram on it.

    Same goes to other RAMs

if the ram is a Hynix made, then you will need a SAMSUNG made ram on Slot 0 and you can have HYNIX ram on Slot 2
IF YOU USE BOTH SLOTS WITH HYNIX, IT WILL NOT WORK

    You have two options,

    1. buy 2 SAME rams that are manufactured by SAMSUNG
    2. have Samsung manufactured on SLOT 0 and Hynix ram on SLOT 2

CONCLUSION: MAKE SURE ANY RAM YOU PURCHASE, IT SUPPORTS JEDEC, AND MANUFACTURED BY SAMSUNG

wish you guys best luck :) I'm also going to try buying it again

Why? Can they release a BIOS update to fix it?

    tbh, I have no clue

I did, however, ask them why it wouldn't work. I didn't get a reply yet though

Hi all , I own a Aero laptop (15W, 8th gen with gtx 1060), its a great performer indeed.
But recently I installed a new samsung 970Pro 512gb ssd in the 2nd NVME slot. I installed windows 10 on that ssd and it boots fine as long as the there's stock ssd ( Kingston ssd that came with the laptop) in the primary slot. When i remove the stock ssd from the laptop then it fails to boot windows from samsung ssd. I've interchanged the ssd slot but still same issue persists. I have to keep the stock ssd in its default slot in order to boot windows from samsung ssd. Also the bios doesn't have much options in aero 15 either. So, is there any way I can only use the samsung ssd?

    Bios Version: FB08/F007
