For everyone I would wait 5 months , we don't die waiting for the laptop, and wait for new models that will come at same price with RTX 30xx series with better performance lower wattage and better ray tracing, and RTX 20xx laptops will cost less as well as 9750h because new laptops will surely have gen10 intel + Nvidia rtx 30xx, so better to wait to have almost double performance at same performance or to get an aero 15 oled WA and xa at 500 eur less than now, I would buy ONLY if you can find an offer for not more than 1800 eur or 2000 USD tax included for 9750h 16gb 512ssd and rtx 2070 8gb, or would buy ONLY if you need it absolutely NOW for whatever reason, but in all other case I would rather wait July and get new versions (whatever razer, msi, gigabyte, Asus, dell).

Timespy_score_RTX2070MaxQ.jpg firestrike_scores_RTX2070MAXQ.jpg sottr_DLSS_AF16x_1080p_RTXultra_highestpreset_RTX2070MaxQ.jpg got final tweaks done and final astonishing result as pure as a full 2070 and as good as a double prices alienmare area 51m with 2070 or 2080... still in a tiny laptop never drops under 4ghz all cores and under 100w gpu, never throttle, temps never above 73°C both cpu and GPU... crazy, really no words, was able to perform even better of my previous already amazing results.

Shadow of the tomb raider is set to highest preset, then activated all effects, moved all extra things on ultra, moved AF to 16x, RTX shadows on ULTRA, all effects maxed, DLSS on... normally in the tests around they just set highest preset and don't add these extra feauters, even though this test surpassed all best laptops test... this is really a 4K gaming desktop closed in a tiny laptop.

This is official, the best gaming laptop for enthusiasts, creators and gamers is the aero 15 oled, just some tweaks, which is nice to do for people who like it, and no laptop comes really with a perfect setup so even costly dell's must be optimized by users.

Just to tell, i got a pc with 9900KS and overclocked 2060 Super which makes THE SAME SCORES, but consumes 4x, noisy 4x, and cpu goes to 90°C, and it's a full sized desktop... this is a small tiny light laptop... no even need bigger gaming laptops with better cooling, can bring this everywhere and have same performance of 4000 eur laptops.... cannot say nothing more, just look at the updated screens... all screens and infos and files uses can be found on my drive

Don't mean to rain on your parade here, but I got similar results with Alienware m15 R1 2070MQ after tweaks. The GPU actually runs at 68C tops. Two things that the Aero doesn't have is the AGA port and onsite support. These are significant downsides. Gigabytes also have this idiotic warranty void sticker which can cause warranty issues in some countries. Don't get me wrong, I hope Gigabyte manages to somehow improve, because we need the competition, particularly given the way Dellienware is going (soldered RAM in the m15 R2).

And considering its bigger, and costs more, and has 2400mhz ram (beside soldered) and has no real tb3 (2x PCIe real and not 4x) and considering you got "similar" but non even close (otherwise show them), and considering dell always have bugs despite their assistence (which was not good to be honest the only time I needed it, and I sent just now an aero back for warranty whic I broke myself with liquid metal and the replaced it and sent me a new one even if it was so evident that the damage was caused by the user....)

Don't want to ruin your parade, but r1 sucks for many aspects... This turn dell is beside both razer and gigabyte (only pro side is probably screen)... But considering all other things, even battery duration and real performance (words are a thing, real show is another) this time dell lost ( I have always been a dell user).also note that for real gaming notebook so far the only choice was a big desktop replacement such as Alienware area 51m, now finally we can use tiny portable laptop as desktop replacement.

Dell M15 r1 and r2 was my choice, but price not, real thunderbolt full 4x no, and ram 2400 MHz soldered, and bigger and uglier ... No way to compare man, I don't even know why you did it, probably just because you are a dell user and want to protect your r1 when there is no need to do it cause no-one was critizing dell, but since you wrote it, well, there is no way to compare, also warranty side... M15 r1 can be an option ONLY at 509 USD less for each variantt

Err. Where do I start lol.
    1. I'm talking about m15 R1, this doesn't have soldered RAM - I'm running 32GB of 2666Mhz RAM. If you want to start bashing the R2, I'm up for that anytime, let's head over to their user's lounge bro :D
    2. Not sure where you got that 2x2 TB from - AFAIK both laptops have 1x4 TB3 (there were some issues in TB3 AW13, perhaps you got confused by that): https://www.ultrabookreview.com/10579-laptops-thunderbolt-3/
    3. My TimeSpy score was basically identical several months ago: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/m15-m17-bios-1-6-2.828681/
    4. "considering dell always have bugs despite their assistence" - not sure what that means, sorry. Did you mean that Dell computers have BIOS/software issues, while Gigabyte doesn't? Hard to believe, e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabytegaming/comments/bgv1a4/keyboard_not_working_after_gigabyte_control/
    5. What was the turnaround time between sending an Aero into service and getting a repaired machine back. Prof Google tells us it's a month plus, depending on location
    6. "this time dell lost" If by this time, you mean latest 15 inch laptops then I agree - m15 R2 sucks, but then you mention the R1 which is 1 year old - so confusing
    7. "Dell M15 r1 and r2 was my choice... ram 2400 MHz soldered" - again mixing up two different machines followed by unnecessary rambling
    8. "Bigger and uglier": I like the Aero and m15 R1 designs - they are pretty similar. The m15 R2 is a big step in a wrong direction for me, but some gamers and design people love it (I'm neither)
    9. "want to protect your r1 when there is no need to do it cause no-one was critizing dell" - My R1 doesn't need any protection. The reason for my post was to respond to your claim that that particular Aero is the best option in its class (8750/9750H CPU+2070MQ) - it's clearly not - even considering the price. Right now these R1 machines are offered at around $1300 in the US. Even a year ago, I got my m15 at a good discount to an equivalent Aero 15. In fact Dell was great, since I could pick the exact config, i.e. minimal SSD and RAM, so I can put in my own top spec components. One doesn't get that flexibility with Gigabyte.

Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to sell an Aero? I've had my 17 on Ebay for a while now - fairly priced and so far zero interest. ????

Does anyone know how to get HDR to work with High Performance Graphics (i.e. the Nvidia GPU, not the HD630). I've been trying to watch Netflix in HDR but when I switch Windows over to HDR mode and load up something like the F1 show on Netflix the HD 630 integrated graphics goes to 99-100% load and the video stutters and just can't keep up, sometimes I even start to see artifacts from the strain on the chip, same thing for Edge. But HDR only seems to work on that card, when I switch the apps to use High-performance graphics (1660ti in my machine), HDR is no longer an option and it doesn't play in HDR on netflix or Edge anymore. Netflix info shows it playing in HEVC HDR on the 630 but AVC on the 1660ti. I'm on nvidia driver 441.87, is there anyway to use the card to play HDR on the built in laptop screen? Because the integrated graphics just can't handle it.

    Hey Guys.

Is anyone having trouble with the Bluetooth and connecting to certain devices?

I have a AERO 15 OLED SA and no matter how many things I try, it won't connect to my Airpods.

My previous XPS had no issues with connecting to it.

Wondering if anyone has any solutions? I've tried everything so far without any success. :(

I had a question on the warranty for the Aero 15 x9-RT5W (i7 8750H, RTX 2070, 144Hz LG IPS). Note this is the first gen RTX ones, the second gen ones are those with the 9th gen i9s and the 240 Hz display. I checked the Gigabyte online warranty checker and saw that my laptop had a 2 year warranty. However, I had bought this on Amazon where it says there is 1 year Global warranty? I know the OLED models had a 1 year warranty but just wanted to check if that is the case for my laptop too.

I cannot find any laptop sticker that tells me this information. All I know is that the laptop was manufactured in January 2019 and I know the check number and serial number from the sticker at the bottom.

Decided to try out the Aero 15 Classic YA-F74ADP. It's set to arrive today and I'm excited to set it up. However, I had some questions:

    • When did this model come out? The only Aero 15 Y reviews I can find seem to have the i9 chip, not the i7
    • What performance gains if any are you seeing from the 2080 Max-Q versus the 2070?
    • Why does the 2080 Max-Q version of the Aero 15 benchmark significantly lower than the Blade 15 with a 2070 Max-Q? Are there ways to improve the performance without sacrificing thermals?

    Hello guys,

My laptop fans seem to be failing and makes really loud noises, so I need to replace it. Does anyone know the model of the fans (and where to buy them) for the GIGABYTE AERO 15 OLED SA-7US5130SH?

    RE: Aero 15X v8 8750h

Has anyone here updated the BIOS "without" having any issues?
I've been getting a lot of "The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS."

leading up to some one-off reboots so was contemplating updating the BIOS. Just a little scared because searching Aero 15X v8 8750h BIOS brings up a ton of issues where people have tried to update BIOS. I'm still on FB06/F006

Well dont bother going nuts if 20.04.13.01 control center update wont unzip. Gigabyte managed to corrupt the zip file they uploaded. Oh...and FB09 is released but heck knows what that changes.

    Hey guys,

I haven't posted here for a while. Well, Gigabyte no longer supports the Aero 15v7, there are no software updates, we even didn't get the new Smart Manager version, so not much interesting to discuss ...

I just wanted to share with you that when I bought this laptop in 2017, I really didn't care about the poor webcam quality and very bad position below the display. Just because I didn't use it at all.

Now with the exceptional covid-19 situation and quarantine (at least here in France), I have some virtual Happy Hours with friends and this webcam is driving me nuts.
I use some workarounds to lift up my laptop and adjust the lid/webcam angle so that it would be like a normal webcam in front of my eyes. Getting a bit ridiculous but I don't really want to spend money for an external webcam I will only use a few weeks (hopefully).

    What is your experience ?

Has anyone got a link to FB07 bios? I've updated to FB09 and I now have Turbo Boost limited - it peaks at just under 4GHz no matter what (single and multi-thread). XTU and Throttlestop of no use. Never buying from Gigabyte again, that's for damn sure!

The supports/updates from Gigabyte are nearly non-existent. I brought few MB from them and they have decent supports but for their laptop is just bad. The Aero 15x v8 is the first and last laptop I will buy from Gigabyte since there is no supports/updates

Safe to say that Western Digital Blue NVMe SN550 drives aren't supported. This laptop really doesn't have much going for it! Memory and drive compatibility shouldn't be an issue this far into the 21st century. Gigabyte need to pull their finger out.

Going to take all your advice and not update my BIOS. It is currently running factory version and so far no major issues -touchwood. My earlier issues with a one off reboot is no longer happening (assume something to do with overnight windows update).

Anyone reading this who want to upgrade ram, I highly recommend doing it at the shop you bought the laptop(or any shop you buy the ram), or even better just order the extra ram when you first buy it. That is what I did after reading the horror stories of ram mismatch and no issues since day1.

Yes I do agree at times the aero can be a pain at the start but once you have set all of it up and not fiddle around with it especially bios where there are known issues already.

Credit where it is due, I still cannot find a good looking windows laptop with all-day battery, beastie specs, under 2kg, easily swap out hdds and ram, sd card slot for my creative needs and list goes on.

Actually it's surprisingly cool compared to previous gaming laptops I've had. The CPU never goes past 90c, although that's mainly due to Gigabyte having a thermal limit implemented. But it never power limits. The GPU usually hovers around 65-70c with the occasional jumps to 76-78c.

I would be able to reduce temps even more if I was able to undervolt, but unfortunately I'm locked out from doing so because of the plundervolt fix.

The fans are always on, even at idle. They aren't that loud at idle but they never turn off. This is really my only gripe about the PC but this is mainly due to the horrible Gigabyte Control Center application. If they gave us more granular control of the fans this would be eliminated.

    FB09 Bios has the following:
    - All CPU control locked (ThrottleStop and XTU will not do anything. Think this is due to latest security issue with rubbish Intel chips)
    - Some clown has reduced CPU speed to below 4GHz max
    - Still can't disable secure boot
    - Still incompatible with loads of hardware
    - Still unusable on battery with permanent throttling (Aida64 benches at Core 2 Duo performance)

The next BIOS needs the following:
    - No throttling embedded in it when on battery. As in NONE!
    - Remove the maximum CPU speed limit when plugged in and on battery COMPLETELY!
    - Option to enable/disable the CPU control patch
    - Option to enable/disable Secure Boot
    - Memory compatibility! Remove the checks for Samsung sticks that belong in the bin!

The OLED screen on these things is SHOCKINGLY POOR! And the obscure colour management just craps itself whenever panning in Adobe CC products. Sending mine back tomorrow and getting a Razer Blade 15. Gigabyte laptops are what I suspected they might be. Junk.

What version Aero 15 did you have? I posted a short tutorial on how to Unlock the Gigabyte Aero 15 v8 FB0A BIOS a while back.

My main disappointment with my 15X v8 has been the terrible keyboard and my battery bloating which forced me to remove it. Oh and I had a Samsung 960 Pro NVMe overheat and die. If it wasn't for these issues I would be quite happy with it. I dual boot Windows 10 and macOS and it's been my main development machine for a while.

I will most likely not be purchasing a Gigabyte laptop next upgrade as it's been quite a disappointment for the cost. I just wish more of the other brands offered two M.2 slots. That was one of the main selling points for me. I think I'm heading towards a Dell XPS 15 or an MSI for my next machine. I particularly like how MSI use the Steelseries keyboards as they're rock solid.

I've had my Aero for over two years now. Other than the occasional repeating key strokes and a power brick I had to replace I've been pretty happy with it. No overheating issues.
Hope someone has a suggestion to cure the keystroke problem.

Thanks for the valuable info about the FB09 BIOS. I noticed that my CPU max boost clock speed was 4.0GHz and I didn’t know that FB09 was the culprit. In my case, I think undervolting with ThrottleStop was working fine. Now, I already reverted to FB08 and got my extra MHz boost back.

Has anyone tried overclocking the refresh rate of the oled screen using CRU?

What refresh rate did you get?

Bought an Aero 15 Classic YA recently, very happy with it in general. However, the Control Center fan controls have started breaking. No matter what I do, the laptop seems to revert to the 'Normal' fan profile after a few seconds in-game. This happens whether I'm trying to use a different fan profile, or just set a fixed fan speed.

Strangely enough this isn't a problem when I'm not running games; I can set a fixed fan speed while browsing and it sticks. Reinstalling Control Center seemed to fix the problem for a while, but it returned within an hour or two. Has anyone run into this before?

If you have the A.I app installed, nuke it from orbit because that would do it.

Whoops! Thank you, that was it. I thought it might be some anti-cheat software I had installed.

My aero15 v7 stopped charging and refused to hold power even when plugged in after 1.5 years then after getting the motherboard replaced it is now completely dead another year later. No lights nothing!
Waste of money. Such a pity because it's 1 of the best laptops on the market but seems like the motherboards are faulty

Hi I'm on the factory BIOS on the Aero 15x v8. Was wondering where you got the FB08 files.
Also, you think its safe for me to update from factory BIOS FB06 to FB08?

The link you posted for FB08, does it work for non-oled versions too? It says OLED in the download file so just double checking.

Hi! My unit is AERO 15 OLED. So, I can’t comment about AERO 15x v8 BIOS.

Generally speaking, updating to new BIOS should be safe but from my experience, Gigabyte don’t put any notes on what changes they made for each BIOS revisions. It would be difficult for users to decide whether or not to update to latest BIOS.

You can find AERO 15x v8 BIOS in the below link but if your unit is working fine I think maybe it is better to leave as it is.

I generally don't recommend bios updates because they can often bring more harm than good. Unless your current bios has certain problems or the new bios has features you want, don't update it.
As a general rule, if it aint broke dont fix it.

Newer bioses may also contain the intel plundervolt mitigation which will prevent undervolting.

Ah right okay. Well it definitely ain't broken. When I was setting up my home office, I had to test the hdmi port/display port etc to my monitor so plugged/unplugged a couple of times. When I was doing this, the laptop fan went full blast and got BSOD. Happened twice but it was when I was plugging/unplugging hdmi cable in and out. Hasn't happened since. So guessing just some video card driver issue.

    Hello,

I am strongly considering buying a gigabyte aero 15 OLED laptop. The two models I am most considering are:

    AERO 15 OLED XB-8US51B0SP 15.6" UHD AMOLED i7-10875H RTX 2070 SUPER MAX Q GDDR6 8GB 8GBx2 DDR4 M.2 PCIe TG 512GB SSD Win10 Pro

    AERO 15 OLED KB-8US5130SP 15.6" UHD AMOLED i7-10875H RTX 2060 GDDR6 6GB 8GBx2 DDR4 M.2 PCIe 512GB SSD Win10 Pro

I have several questions remaining after reading through much of this forum. I would greatly appreciate any insight from current owners! Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me.

    .
    1. What have been your experiences with the OLED panel on the aero 15? Have you encountered issues such as OLED banding, either at full or reduced brightness? Have you noticed PWM flicker? (I have seen a few reports of major panel issues, but it’s hard to figure out if these are isolated issues, or if they are more widespread but not complained about online)
    2. Has anyone used the X-Rite i1 Display Pro to calibrate the OLED panel on a laptop? If so, how successful was it, and what software did you use?

    3. How prevalent is coil whine? Do most gigabyte aero 15 laptops exhibit this condition, or is it once again only a small portion of owners who encounter this?

    4. Does anyone have a recent list of compatible SSD drives? The only one I could find on this forum was from the v8 aero 15. Has anyone successfully used a Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB in the Gigabyte Aero 15?

    5. When installing a new drive to use as the system drive, is a fresh windows install recommended, or is it better to clone the factory intel drive over to the new drive?

    6. My understanding is that due to the plundervolt fix, it is no longer possible to undervolt newer intel CPUs using throttlestop. Is thermal throttling of the gigabyte aero 15 now a problem for many owners? Or is there another way to reduce thermal throttling? Does anyone own the Aero 15 OLED WA-7US5130SP with the i7-9750H? Does this cpu/BIOS version still permit undervolting? If so, I might look to purchase last year’s model instead.
    Thank you!!

Does anyone know what the video pin connector size in on the Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED SA? I am trying to find out if the 144hz IPS panel from the Aero 15 x9 would be able to replace the OLED display. Anyone had luck with this before? New panel in question is https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Gigabyte/AERO~15~X9/ and appears to be 40 pin video connector but cant find any info what so ever on the Aero 15 OLED.
