I think it should work no problem. I can only speak for Davinci Resolve, but you can select which GPU is utilized for rendering, UI etc. Also, you can use Nvidia Optimus to assign a GPU to each application seperately. I am not entirely sure if the performance might take a slight hit because your data is passed through TB3 / iGPU / PCH and not coming directly from the dGPU. Even if so, I don't think it's relevant for Video/Editing/Rendering Work, but you might experience a slight FPS drop. No way to be sure though, I think you have to find out yourself.
I moved away from the i-tec USB-C dock in the meantime and am running an eGPU through the TB3 port while at my desk. Something I've noticed is that the PCH Chip is running VERY hot and is causing throttling at some point (you can use HWiNFO64 to read out the PCH Temp). I replaced the factory heatshield with a small copper sink and it's fine now. Probably not a good idea on a new machine though as it'll void your warranty, just a pointer to keep an eye on PCH temperature. You can either use a small fan to keep it cool from the outside or change the PCIe Link State Power Options to max Power Saving if you experience issues with stability/performance while running peripherals through TB3. FWIW, the Aero is one of the few Notebooks that even do have some cooling (as bad as it might be) solution for the PCH at all. Dell and Lenovo machines experience even worse throttling issues.
Let me know how the Aero is performing while the lid is closed. The cooling vents are mainly located on the side and the back, so it SHOULD be okay, I'm just not entirely confident if the heat might cause issues with the screen that's close to the hot chassis, especially in the long run. Maybe someone else can share insights on the topic.

I’ve updated my laptop to the latest version of Windows 10 and I’m now getting a message “Please check panel hwid” when I boot the machine.
Anyone know why this is? And how to fix it?
Seems to be something to do with Gigabyte Control Centre. -
-
Any other ideas? Thanks. -
Reinstalling Gigabyte Control Center appears to fix the issue.

Hey everyone, first time post here and also a noob to computers in general. I have the Aero 15 WB i7 10875h with rtx 2070 max q. I've noticed a few things with thermals and cpu frequency when plugged in. It seems that with or without the Edge AI running, if the laptop is plugged in and at balanced or high performance power plan setting, it constantly runs at a high cpu frequency even at idle. This was causing my system to get massive temps even with a cpu cooling pad and with no cpu load. I re-pasted with thermal grizzly kryonaut and it had lowered the temps a bit it still runs at such a high frequency at idle and with high temps. I tried reaching out to Gigabyte and was given the run around. So far the only thing that helps is if I create my own power plan that lowers cpu freq when plugged in then manually change it to high performance when gaming or performing tasks that require high cpu freq. I guess my question is, is this normal? I assumed that the cpu would automatically regulate its frequency depending on the load placed upon it, rather than constantly run at high frequency even at idle. I am not sure how to post screen shots onto this thread so directions how to do that would be appreciated and I'd be happy to show em. Thank you!!!

Hi all,
I own an Aero 15 1.gen (i7-7700). I bought it years ago but today I wanted to use the webcam for the first time. It does not work. Windows does not find the integrated webcam. Windows camera app states "we can't find your camera". Device manager lists only one camera (as hidden device) and states it "is not connected to the computer".
I tried to deactivate and activate the camera in Smart Manager but to no avail.
I also removed and reinstalled all camera related tools (AmCap, XSplitBroadcaster, TriDef SmartCam) that are available for download from the Gigabyte support page:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Laptop/AERO-15--i7-7700HQ/support#support-dl-driver-utility
This also did not help. The camera is still not available and there are no drivers to be installed.
Is there any hidden trick to enable the camera?
Could the camera be disconnected internally (on a hardware level)? I had my Aero 15 sent in for repair and when it was returned, a note said that they had exchanged the motherboard. Maybe they forgot to connect the camera to the mainboard, if that is possible.
Thanks! -
The connector labeled CCD_CON1 has a cable that runs to the display. When disconnected, the microphones do not work. Further, "CCD" is short for charged coupled device which is a type of image transducer found in webcams. This indicates that this is indeed the connector for the webcam signals. Each one of the wires looks ok. I reconnected it but no improvement. The webcam is still dead. :-(

Hello, I just bought an AERO 15 and I have found that the volume functions are not working on F7, F8, F9. It happens randomly indeed and I cannot figure out what went wrong either, sometimes restart would fix it but sometimes not.
Here you can find more people with this issue: www.reddit.com/r/gigabyte/comments/jsxc9m/volume_functions_not_working_on_f7_f8_f9_aorus_17x/
Are you aware of this issue and when we will have a solution? I have tried everything, also reinstalling the factory OS, and all drivers are up to date. Thank you. -
I have the same problem for the past 2 months. I can't recall did I try gigabyte control center reinstall but I think I did and still have the problem. I also mostly use external monitor but get the message even without it. Not sure what to do, it's not a big deal but a bit annoying.
Does anyone have problem with pantone profile not loading? I have Aero 17 UHD and pantone worked and somehow stopped. In control center I can't turn it on and in color management it automatically doesn't load... I have to manually load it in control panel -> color management.
Btw. for people that use external monitor.. if you have good monitor and picture is still pretty bad compared to gigabyte's display, try going to nvidia control panel -> display-> change resolution and down under "3. Appy the following settings" remove "use default color settings" but instead "use nvidia color settings" and make sure settings are "highest (32bit), output 8bit or 10bit, output RGB and output dynamic range FULL". I had washed colors on my LG UK650W but since using this FULL output dynamic range, colors on monitor look much better. -
Hi, I just got back my Aero 15 OLED SA from repair and found there are 2 screws missing under the heatpipes. If anyone has this model and are opening up their laptop, could you please help to check if there are indeed screws (or not) at these 2 locations? Thank you in advance.

Can you share your icc profile with me?
Thank you very much,

Hello folks, since this thread seems to be quite active I have a simple question which I hope someone can help me with.
I have a 10th Gen Aero15 XB (2070 Super). I want to install a 1TB NVME SSD into the 2nd slot and was hoping for a recommendation of one which will work near the advertised speeds?
I just sent back an Adata SX8200 Pro to Amazon as the read speeds were ~1400MB/s which is < 50% of advertised speeds.
I already confirmed NVME 1.3 was running with x4 lanes so that isn't the issue before anyone asks.
The default C:\ SSD (an OEM Samsung) has a read speed of ~2900MB/s and I expect something similar for the 2nd slot.
Gigabyte tech support gave me a list of supported SSDs but most are OEM and not generally available for general purchase, with the exception of this one which can be purchased in Germany:
https://www.reichelt.com/de/en/sams...vlb1t0hblr-p282158.html?&trstct=vrt_pdn&nbc=1
So in conclusion, please can someone tell me which NVME is PROVEN to work ~ 2500-2900 MB/s in the 2nd slot of a 10th generation Aero 15? -
Hello everyone, I bought a 9th gen Aero 15 OLED WA (RTX 2060 one). I noticed that CPU frequency is pretty high even though computer is idle, which is kind of annoying. Maybe there's a way to fix this? Also, when fans are spinning, I can hear pretty weird high pitched noise, which is comming from them. It's more audible when running in "Quiet" mode. Here's the noise: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ly5oLyMBqsuVoSBoBtuWmbQGrVVcVRN-/view?usp=sharing Is there a way to fix this or should I send it to RMA?

hello, first of all merry christmas everyone and delighted to say hello. I'll tell you about my problem: I currently have an aero 15 xb non oled, with a 2070 super max q and a ssd 970 evo plus. Playing warzone I do not exceed 100 fps which surprises me since I think it should reach at least 120-144. I think this problem is due to the bios that I have installed which is the Studio BIOS HFB07 HFD07 & EC F004 which is specific for nvida studio and I use the studio drives as well. the question is that I cannot install the normal bios version BIOS FB06 FD06 & EC F004 and I would like to be able to install it to test the performance in games. Can somebody help me? Thanks a lot! and sorry for my english

It was an outdated version of libusb-win32 that came with Easeus MobiMover.
I found the solution when my iPhone did not appear under "My PC" and iTunes was unable to connect to my iPhone.
So I opened Device Manager.
The library libusb-win32 showed up in device manager as "libusb-win32 devices" (sorry, did not take screenshots) and my iPhone was listed under it when it was connected to the Aero15. You might have to enable "Show hidden devices" first to see this entry. So obviously this libusb library filtered some USB connections.
Deinstalled MobiMover (which also deinstalled libusb-win32) and the webcam came back to life immediately. iTunes also finds iPhone now.
Happy New Year everyone. -
Slinky what you said is exactly right. The CPU will scale its frequency as needed... There is no need for oem's to mess with this plan and fix the frequencies at max. However, scaling frequency up for a burst load does take some amount of time. Presumably they fix the frequency to max so theres no frame drop or hitches (however small) while the CPU scales up.

TLDR: A whole row of keys stops working randomly on my Aero 15. (Shift, z, x, c, v, b, n....)
I was mostly using a Bluetooth keyboard on my Aero so I haven't had the chance to use the built-in keyboard as a daily driver (Usually I would always have it on the table, hooked to an external monitor, and rocking a Bluetooth mouse & keyboard).
My Aero is about 2 years old and the built-in keyboard always worked fine when I used it. For the past year, I started to use the laptop "on the go" more and one day it just started acting up, making the entire row of keys stop working. The odd thing is that when it happens, I bend the chassis slightly with my thumbs on either side of the keyboard row, and it starts working again.
Questions:
- Is this a common issue and can someone confirm that they have experienced the same problem?
- Can it be fixed with software or drivers?
- Did anyone try to replace the keyboard by themselves? You can order one on eBay for about $90. There is no video that I know of that shows how to replace the keyboard so I'd be grateful if someone shared it (if it exists) or made it.
- Did someone give their Aero keyboard for repair to Gigabyte (Warranty or no warranty)? What was your experience?

As for warranty repair, I have sent my laptop in to Gigabyte for keyboard repair. I didn't have the laptop long, and some buttons were driving me crazy. A pretty common issue is keys don't register properly, which is what I experienced with several keys. They did the absolute bare minimum to fix the issue. They didn't replace the keyboard, and instead put shims under each key that didn't register. Now those keys feel distinctly different from all the other keys, and register sooner. Pretty disappointed with their 'fix'. I believe the whole process left me without my machine for 3 weeks. I have the v8 btw and I purchased through a boutique, so I never had to deal with Gigabyte directly. -

Fingerprint reader on my Gigabyte aero 15 with 9th Gen intel stopped working. I see the below error in device manager. I tried updating driver but it says it already has the latest driver.
I manually downloaded the fingerprint reader driver from gigabyte website and that didn't work too. Can someone please help fix this issue.
PS: I was able to fix this myself by forcing driver installation from device manager using the following option.

Hi guys I am thinking to buy new Aero 15 with rtx 3000 series and I need help in few concerns!!
First, I wonder if it is risky to buy Oled version because I heard that it may get burn ins over time, change in quality or picture retention .. have anybody face this issue before? especially aero owners more than 3 years before now ..
Secondly, I may sometimes work(programming) in cafes or public places and I also seen some revies talk about the fan noise will that be a too loud to use it in public places!!
Please Give me your feedback guys -
If you are going to have massive amounts of static screens then standard panel may still be for you however, though the high nits of the oled panel helps a heck of a lot in overly bright places when working. All thin and lights also have for the most part meh fan noise but there is a quiet mode and if you want more control someone made an awesome manager replacement called AeroCTL. You can also make new fan curves or lock fans into certain speed to fit your needs in the stock app, you just cannot go under 20% fan speed unless you use AeroCTL or another work around. Laptop will spin down lower automatically Gigabyte just does not trust us I guess.
The only other thing to consider is battery life. The oled draws more power if you are going to be unplugged a lot, it can be mitigated by setting it to 1080P and using darker UIs to degree but still can draw more. Some days I get 9 hours unplugged, others I get 4 hours...it really depends on content and does not have uniform power draw like standard panels. Oh and oled under linux is still sometimes iffy so keep that in mind unless you want retinas to be burned, otherwise its solid option.Kooly2000 likes this. -

Hello all. I want to add a 500GB SSD to my Aero 15x v7 (7700HQ) - only for storage and gaming, I'll leave the OS on the current SSD. However I'm not sure which SSD's are compatible. I've been searching here for a while, but haven't found conclusive info.
I found a user list of compatible SSDs and RAMs for v8 as well as an official Crucial SSD list for v8, but considering how fidgety Aero laptops are, I'm worried that this list would differ for v7.
In the country where I'm currently stuck I found a Crucial CT500P1SSD8 model which is listed as compatible in the lists above at a decent price - anyone heard of these working for v7? -
..
Hello,
Yes it does include burn in and picture retention cases. Shipping is not included you would have to ship the laptop to us and pay for shipping both ways.
We have a HIPS (HIDevolution International Prepaid Shipping) Service which can be selected in the laptop configurator. That would cover shipping costs both ways for 2 instances per year if anything goes back with the laptop.
So for example if you choose a 2 year warranty, you can also select a 2 Year HIPS service to give you the extra piece of mind and save on hefty shipping costs in the even something wrong happens.
Thank you, -

I have the v8 and a programmer. I don't program much now on there but when I do before the virus, I have like more mistypes then my 2013 MBP. It is because the keyboard sometime doesn't register the stroke. If I could get a full refund after I brought this laptop, I would. It is a good laptop but there are some under performance area. Mainly keyboard, RAM/SSD compatibilities, and firmware/driver updates.

Just ordered the GIGABYTE AERO 15 OLED YC-9US5760SP
Can't wait to get this new beast. The number 1 selling factor for me was the Samsung OLED Screen. -

You see, I rarely play games, like once in 2 weeks. What I do most is stare at the screen 8 hours a day so I want the best screen and some sort of portability if I want to take the laptop with me somewhere.
Initially I ordered the XPS 15 9500 then I was thinking, what am I doing? the only good thing about it is the screen and build quality but then all Type C USB ports meaning dongle life and not being able to play (decently at least with a 1650Ti), I kinda had mixed feelings about my order.
Then I cancelled the order and changed it to the new RAZER Blade 15 PRO with the 4K Touch Screen. Then I remembered Razer reliability, then went on to their website only to be reminded that they don't even have any drivers for any new laptop any more, just documentation, God knows how does one go about doing a clean install, I don't wanna rely on Windows Update drivers and that also didn't leave a good impression for me. Let alone the fact that it's on pre-order and will arrive sometime in March.
Then I spotted this laptop that is' no longer on pre-order on our site and is in stock so I started researching and seeing review with the previous model with the same screen and from the reviews it looked mind blowing and the specs are good, large battery, so I bit the bullet.

Seriously i am happy for you if that makes you happy.
The OLED panel is probably the same i had on the M15R2 2 years ago. It's a samsung OLED and it was a great panel back then. They probably improved it in the past two years.
When playing you can create a custom resolution (2k, 2.5k.3K) if needed for some games.
Can't wait to see your review. Congrats.etern4l, Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
