The keyboard sucks. Don't know how else to say it. It's a well known issue and has been discussed extensively on these forums and as far as I know Gigabyte have never addressed it.

Hello, I have AERO 15 OLED NA
The problem is the laptop can't wake up from sleep by keyboard or mouse.
The only way is hitting the power button.
I did "allow this device to wake the computer" for every possible device but it does not work.
I think because the bios is locked and there is only one sleep mode suspend mode S3.
Could any one help me, please?

Try installing the latest GeForce Driver then reboot and try again. Also in the nVIDA Control Panel, under Manage 3D Settings > Power Management that it is set to Adaptive not Optimal

    NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix 461.51 = https://international-gfe.download....notebook-win10-64bit-international-dch.hf.exe

Answering my own question from a few pages before. Installed a Crucial CT500P1 NVMe SSD into the spare slot on my Aero 15x v7 (2017). It seems to work.

    1) Haven't tested speeds, mostly care about having extra storage inside the laptop, don't care about the speed.

    2) Was more trouble than expected:

    3) The SSD slot in mine didn't have a screw. Luckily one of the screws from the baseplate fit right in, so I used that. Now my 5:45 o'clock screw is missing on the baseplate, but a) there is only the battery underneath b) the baseplate holds tight as hell even without screws so I'm not worried.

    4) the two foam inserts in the spare SSD slot gave me trouble.

The one on the side of the battery is non-removable. It's glued to the plastic plate holding the battery in place, any attempts to remove it cause tiny pieces of foam to fall off. I think it would be trouble if those tiny pieces get stuck somewhere inside. So I squeezed the SSD alongside of it. While the foam applies pressure to the ssd from the side, it doesn't seem like it bends it in any direction.

The foam under the SSD was thin enough for the SSD to fit over it comfortably. However after using the SSD for 30 minutes like that I realized that that part of the laptop gets wildly hot - probably the foam gets hot from the working SSD. So I removed the foam. Now it's better, the only issue being - it feels flimsy when the SSD is basically hanging above the motherboard, only held in place by the connector and a screw. A good shake to the laptop during travel could possible dislodge it (maybe).

    5) Windows didn't detect the SSD right away. Assigning the SSD to Storage Spaces Pool and then deleting that pool made it visible in the Disk Check, so I could format it. Now it works.

EDIT: tested the SSD and the CrystalDisk test shows the advertised numbers. In essence it's pretty much the same as the Toshiba SSD that came in my Aero 15.

Just upgraded the stock Micron 2933 MHz. RAM to the Kingston KHX3200C20S4/32GX 3200 MHz RAM as it has slightly lower latency

    Stock RAM from Micron:

    Kingston KHX3200C20S4/32GX RAM:

PS: This is the same RAM that we test on the Alienware Area-51m R2 and can confirm that it works @3200MHz on the Area-51m R2

Why is it that most companies lock down their bioses so much that you can't do any ram overclocking? That 2933mhz kit can likely be overclocked to 3600mhz cl18 easily.

Not that I expect alienware to offer it, knowing them they never will.

Because they don't want users tinkering around with advanced settings and to prevent support calls/requests. MSI has the best OEM BIOS as they still have the hidden BIOS which can be unblocked and gives you access to literally everything just like the Prema BIOS for Clevo machines.

Have you received the Aero yet? If so do you have some benchmarks to post? I have been considering switching to this laptop.

    Hi everyone,

In the last 1-2 weeks, I have been experiencing high battery consumption in my device. Normally, I would have 6-7 hrs of battery life in power saver mode but nowadays, it never goes beyond 3hrs. I tried to use the graphics card drivers as suggested by Control Center, however it didnt solve my problem. I assume the problem occurs due to high consumption in "uncore". Previously, my uncore consuption was between 4-5W as I have been tracking numbers in my laptop for a year with HWMonitor.

The only solution that seemed to have a change in uncore was disabling the dGPU. That actually dropped uncore W to 4-5. However, my battery still lasted for 2-3 hours although "package W" seemed reasonable.

I would be very happy to hear your suggestions.

Why on earth make the bezels so damn small that you have to use nose-cam? You're sure you'll use this feature? o_O

    Webcam
    [IMG]

As with the predecessor , the camera sits a little unusually above the keyboard, so that it films from below into the nostrils during video conferences, which does not always contribute positively to the best representation of yourself. The color reproduction is now a little better, but the sharpness has suffered even more, the picture looks very washed out. Pros: There is a manual shutter for the 720p camera.

Latest AERO 15 RTX 30XX series laptop drivers with the proper installation order = https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RhUjTeBpGvC_3RJhT8FMdQPOytchDi4N/view?usp=sharing

Make sure to right click on the file you just downloaded, go to Properties, then hit Unblock from the bottom right as it may be blocked since it was downloaded from the internet, if you don't do this before you extract it, then all the files extracted will also carry the BLOCKED attribute and may not install properly.

To prevent this automatic blocking of files in the future so you don't have to go unblocking every file you download to ensure it runs properly, follow the guide in this thread:

    Hi Everyone!

I am going crazy because of this problem. And I dont know where else to look for possible solutions. Basically, my battery last 2-3 hours instead of usual 6-7 hours. Could someone help me with that?

    1) Click Start > Settings > Privacy > Background Apps (from the left pane) and turn off all the background apps except the system related ones (ie. Nahimic, nVIDIA Control Panel, Intel Graphics Command Center, etc.)

    2) Try lowering your brightness a bit

    3) Launch Task Manager and see if there is something constantly using the CPU

    4) If you use Google Chrome, disable the Software Reporter Tool = https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/disable-software-reporter-tool.html

    @Spartan@HIDevolution thanks for the response.

I have done each step you suggested me. But it seems there is no change. Did you see my previous post about uncore W?

Also, let me know if I could provide any other information. My Aero model is AERO 15 Classic-XA (i7 9750H - RTX 2070 MaxQ). My problem with my battery is something new, btw. I assume that maybe an update caused it.

Gigabyte has cut corners on the Aorus 15G XC in order to equip it with an RTX 3070 notebookcheck.net | Today

Why did Gigabyte decide to cut so many of the predecessor's features? The additional costs of an RTX 3070 can hardly have been the reason. Perhaps the Aorus was simply too expensive for a lot of gamers - after all, the Gigabyte is offering the newer model for a slightly lower price. Nonetheless, as users who are familiar with the predecessor we can't get help feeling that the series' quality standard has dropped due to the many omissions.

"Gigabyte has decided to apply to the this year's update: Instead of the usual metal case, the new Aorus 15G is cloaked in plastic."

I wonder if this apply for all their different models.

I'm trying to do a hardware upgrade of my Gigabyte AERO 15 SA (i7-9750H).

    In a few words :

    - Adding of one new 8 Go RAM module (in addition of the OEM 8 Go ram module) : SAMSUNG SODIMM M471A1K43CB1-CTD

    - Adding of a second 1 to SSD M2 NVME (250 Go on the OEM M2) : WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD 1 To

    Tests report :

    1) First try :

    - Black screen on laptop startup

    2) It seems to be a RAM problem, so I giving back RAM to OEM configuration :

    - the BIOS seems to go further (GIGABYTE logo on screen), function keys reminder but no OS boot and I can't access to BIOS setup (F2 key doesn't work...).

    3) I giving back SSD slots to OEM configuration

    - laptop is working normally (OEM configuration)

I tried with and without Trusted computing enabled.

new ram module photo : [IMG]

OEM ram module photo : [IMG]

Could you help me to solve the problem please ?

Hello, I've been having this sound issue since I've bought my laptop (Aero 15 OLED WA) . External speakers' volume is going up and down pretty randomly when used with laptop. I've already tried reinstalling drivers, various Realtek and Nahimic versions, disabling audio enhancements – nothing has changed. Everthing is okay with laptop's speakers and headphones. This issue occurs only with external speakers. I am sure that this is software problem because it works pretty well with other PCs/Laptops that I use. Any suggestions what should I try?

    First, nice video bruh :)

    Then some nitpicing.... :D

I wonder why HID/You still name the graphics card RTX 3080 Max-Q. Nvidia went away from it and Max-Q is only a added feature now, not the graphics cards surname. Even Notebookcheck have removed Max-Q from Mobile 3000 series cards specs. Same for Gigabyte who brand it NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ (3080) Laptop (Max-Q is only added as a feature in specs sheet). And shouldn't be used outside you mention it as a feature for the laptop.

Second. Your CBR-23 score... *Re-run without Hardware monitor :)

    Hi all,

My Gigabyte Aero 15x v7 came with an issue on the USB 3 port on the left side (the one next to the HDMI and MiniDP ports). It only works for charging devices. What are some basic ways to try to make it work?

I never really needed it, but now I've purchased a VR headset that has a singular cable with a split at the end - an HDMI and USB 3 connectors. Since the only USB port next to HDMI port is not working I have to use the USB port on the other side of the laptop. But the split cable is too short and prevents me from reaching it.

Extension cables are hit or miss, so I'm trying to resolve it more proper-like - by fixing the USB port itself.

Does anyone also have this problem? I have the v8. Every time it comes out of hibernate, the fan profile is set to something else. I usually set it to quiet unless I am gaming or doing data crushing. I always need to open the smart manager then it will set back to quiet.

Im kinda curious, do the two NVMe slots share bandwidth on 9th gens? Both 970 Evo and Sabrent rocket have absolutely demolished 4K performance and overall read/write is down the gutter. Maybe I am better off sticking with my 970 Evo + 860 m.2 ssd combo? or should I buy something like a PM981 instead...

Was just wondering if anyone had similar issue with Ram slot for their Aero 15? Mine was working perfectly fine last night and suddenly today it just didn't turn on. Well it was turning on and off and screen doesnt light up, only LED lights.

So i tried removing the RAM (it was only single channel 16gb). Then it stopped turning on and off but remained On but screen was still not showing. So i tried to transfer the RAM to the other slot then problem solved somehow.

For the longest time I was using the first slot so I am not sure what happened now. I tried putting it back in the first slot and it went back to the problem of turning on and off. So now I placed it to the 2nd RAM slot for it to keep working. I just don't know if there is any performance impact on this as well as why my first DIMM slot suddenly stopped working.

Any inputs would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi all,
    Noob question.
When adding a second SSD does one need to use one from the officially supported list?
I want to upgrade but was thinking about buying a different SSD than on the Gigabyte list.

    Yes off-course.

I wouldn't get any Samsung SSD. They are only great in benchmarks but they overheat in the real world and thus thermal throttle. The BEST drives right now are either the Sabrent Rocket or SK Hynix Gold P31

    Thanks again for your help!
Interesting info. I will check into the drives.
I guess RAM is more complicated and the recommended list is more important?
Or do you feel the same about RAM as you do about SSDs?
    :p
    Thanks again.

EDIT: BTW, you seem very knowledgeable about these things.
I find the wifi really poor on this laptop. The range is really bad for example (like a Nintendo Switch lol).
Would it be worth upgrading from the installed ax1650(?) to a better wireless card?
    Any recommendations there?
