    With the AERO 15 KB:
Its running on the Intel HM470 chipset with 10870H CPU.
To maximise performance with a new SSD would it be best to use Gen4.0 PCIe or just get a gen 3.0 PCIe drive?

This board or Cpu doesn't support 4.0 PCIe interface. But you can still use the newer gen ssd's but it will run 3.0 PCIe speed (backward compatible).

That's what I though. So it's better to buy a cheaper gen 3 drive I think.
Thanks again for all your help.

I bought a Sabrent Rocket Plus 2TB PCIe 4 as the OS Drive (just to be able to use it in a future laptop which supports PCIe 4) and a Sabrent Rocket Q 4TB PCIe 3 for storing videos and data. Speeds are identical in benchmarks as the 2TB is running at PCIe 3 speed and mind you, the extra speed only concerns large files, AKA sequential data. That's what the manufacturers mean when they clean X drive can do 4000 MB/S which is NOT the data an average or even power user uses on a daily basis.

What matters the most is the 4K Random Read/Write speeds which is what most programs and the operating system comprise of and the speds of those have never chaned for years randing between 30 to 45 or even upto 55 MB/S

    See:

    I messed up.

Installed audio driver and reinstall the previous back, but I lost the Dolby Digital Plus feature in sound setting.

The newer driver (realtek) doesn't have Dolby.

Anyone know how to get it back? Which driver to download?

So the Geniuses at Gigabyte used the same Windows image on the previous generation of AERO 15 on my new AERO 15 OLED with the ancient drivers of the previous model including the IRST (RAID Drivers). By manually deleting the IRST Driver using Driver Explorer, I was able to get a 20% increase in performance out of my SSD:

    It's crap:
    1) The factory image is from a previous Aero 15 (older model) so the drivers were ALL outdated and Windows was one buil behind.

    2) The driver support is crap. They have drivers like chipset and Card reader and Intel Management Engine dated from last year. They couldn't even be bothered to update anything for ths newer model other than the Control Center and Azure AI.

The laptop's great though. You just have to figure out the drivers part on your own.

There is no PWM on the 240hz panel.. It's a Sharp panel and it's amazing for IPS.

PSA, you can completely unlock the BIOS on the newest Aorus/Aero 15 units.. I have a Aorus 15G 3070 with fully unlocked BIOS. I'm running the factory 32gb memory at 3200mhz out of the box, same stock CAS latency. You can also get undervolting back, of which my unit is capable of -80mv core/cache, lowered temps by about 10c. I liquid metaled my entire cpu/gpu and temps are about 69c CPU and 72c GPU with Gaming profile fan all day long. Undervolting is back, baby!

Also, i'm trying to investigate why the Aorus 15G doesn't have Thunderbolt3 on the USB-C port but the Aero 15 does.. they seem to share an identical platform under the hood.. My unlocked BIOS does show some Thunderbolt settings but i'm too chicken to see if they do anything in fear of bricking. If you brick the BIOS, you have to re-flash with a CH341a programmer and the bad news is that the BIOS chip is under the heatsink pipes which means you have to do a full teardown and repaste to recover your machine. Also, since the BIOS on these are unencrypted and EC is fully visible, you can use Intel FPT to dump and flash via Windows easily.

Does anyone think that Aero's speakers are very low in volume when on max? Not sure if it's my model or it's general issue... Can I somehow amplify volume?

They suck. they are one of the worst laptop speakers.

To enhance them slightly, launch Nahimic, and set the profile to Movie

Hello, I have a Gigabyte Aero 15 Classic (2070) that's out of warranty and has a faulty keyboard/controller.

All keyboard keys stick endlessly until another key pressed. Typing can basically cause aneurysms. Issue was verified as 100% hardware after showing while running a Ubuntu thumb drive.

I guess I need a replacement keyboard? Nothing really pops up except a rip-off $125 French Aero 15 Keyboard from China. I am in US. No luck on Gigabyte store. So the China keyboard: oddly the item's photo shows English QWERTY instead of French AZERTY, but seller says "you get what you see". Lol OK..

Gigabyte doesn't make it easy to find this stuff at all! Could anyone help?

Best bet it to pull the keyboard out and get the exact part number. It'll be easier to search eBay, or for smaller companies that sell oem replacement parts.

(Aero 17 2020... enter key is big.. german keyboard).

Macrium Reflect Rescue Media ISO v7.3.5758 (with RAID support and cloning to dissimilar hardware supported).

    Bug fixes and Improvements v7.3.5758 - 22nd March 2021
    • Server Plus - Exchange Mailbox Restore
      • When filtering by message type, the Mailbox Restore wizard would not always display the correct description for the filter being applied. This has been resolved.
      • When applying a default message filter, all messages would be filtered out. This has been resolved.
    • Rescue Media Builder
RMBuilder could fail to retain its configuration state after build failure. This has now been resolved.
    • Backup Definitions View
The 'Type' column wasn't populated with the definition type. This has now been resolved.
    • File and Folder Restore
The time taken to restore has now been added to the end of the restore log.

Use RUFUS to make a bootable USB Flash Disk from it

Note: I don't install Macrium Reflect, I only boot from the USB Flash Disk to create or restore images. That way I have none of its bloated services running in the background.

So you seem quite happy with your new Aero. Can you tell us if the keyboard issues have been addressed in the latest iteration? Do you have any keys that get stuck or are unresponsive during normal typing use? To me this has always been the biggest problem with the Aero line and it would be nice to finally know if it's been resolved.

There are 0 issues with the keyboard. It took me a week to get used to its smaller size coming from an Alienware Area-51m but otherwise, it's perfect.

The RGB Leyboard lights are the best, brightest, and most color vibrant.

Tactile feedback is great and the key travel is good.

    GIGABYTE OEM Info

Copy/Paste the OEMLOGO folder to the root of C:

Right click on the OEMINFO.reg file then select Edit and change the model to match your laptop model.

Then double click on the reg file to merge it with the registry.

    With new system logo:

i guess the information on reddit is false. driver updates only won't enable resizable-bar

so we just need to wait a little longer, i guess

For now only laptops with rtx 3060 from gigabyte have reBAR enabled. Others with 3070 and 3080 need vbios update or flash from others company like asus, msi etc.

would definitely not send it in as long as there is no vbios update from gigabyte. you're definitely not the only one with the problem.
in my case the support has answered completely different, they just forwarded my ticket to someone else.
So they have no idea what's the problem here themself

    Hi All,

ordered one of these last week from newegg store on ebay (OLED with rtx 3070) was waiting so impatiently for several days to receive, only to be so disappointed when unboxing to discover gross damage to the unit - not even sure how this happened (it looks like someone stepped on it from the bottom) there is clear damage from the bottom cover - its totally kinked and bent on the side right near the power jack - The two boxes it came in were in perfect condition undamaged - this was packed this way it would appear :( filed and RMA - uggg what a nightmare - Praying Newegg customer service won't be a disaster to get me a new unit.
