damn thought tigerlake was suppose to have better battery life or something.

is it me or are these refreshes priced cheaper? 2999 for the 3080/11th gen vs 3499 for 10th gen version

Is there a lot of screen tearing on the OLED display when playing games above 60 FPS? Is it possible to enable fast sync even though there’s no MUX or advanced Optimus?

with 4k resolution active it's pretty hard to receive more fps than 60 anyway in games like outriders or resi village, but yes there is tearing if you don't use vsync

Seems it made a large difference. This review above intentionally cuts power to it in attempt to make it score lower. If only they limited GPU TDPs to make them also even…

It may give some benefit in some games, maybe because I was playing slightly older ones that's why I saw 0 difference.

If you unlock bios, you will be able to load the xmp profile, but if something goes wrong, it will void the warranty

When you got laptop ask on https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/index.php for unlocked/modded bios.

Im seeing people post online they have the YD models already (17 and 15 inch).

anybody seen both the 17 and 15 in person? wondering if i should go with the 17 inch but not sure if its too big

i was dual using a pixelbook and alienware 51m so looking for my aero to be a mix of the two. was guessing the 15 inch would be closer to my PB (Height: 10.3 mm Length: 290.4 mm Width: 220.8 mm)

So now I impatiently wait for my Aero 15 OLED YD-94US648SP, first new gaming/content editing laptop in like 10 years. Current 'gaming' laptop is a Sager 5797 LOL that is at this point, being held together with epoxy, it's been so banged up from my 4x4 trips around the southwest. It is only good for web surfing at this point, and it's a huge heavy beast just for that purpose. It will be interesting to see if this laptop runs circles around my water cooled X299 10 core I9/1080TI desktop. It probably will as long as it doesn't thermal throttle. I've got a laptop gaming mat on order that should help, it looks from the pictures of the underside that the cooling openings are large and some fans underneath it could really provide some benefit. Almost bought the 17" but after lugging that old Sager around for a decade, I thought the better of that and ordered the 15". Time to start reading this thread...

Well, I got the laptop. The screen is drop dead gorgeous. The keyboard I can live with, it's better than the MAC keyboard on one of my work laptops. Which doesn't say much. It's going to be used as a desktop replacement most of the time anyway, with an external keyboard (K95 RGB) and mouse anyway. But that AI bit. What's with that. Ok, it boots up and sets the screen brightness way to high. AI my ARCE. I play with it a bit, and set it to gaming mode as that comes up 80% brightness. Manually I set it to 70% via keyboard. Remove some bloatware, reboot and again AI turns back on and sets brightness to 100% so I guess what I set doesn't survive a reboot. Sigh. Will probably remove AI, unless I am missing something here, having only had one evening on the laptop. Software fails are much easier to get around in this case, as it's bloatware anyway. The bones are good and once I get Windows cleaned up (maybe will reload it this weekend) it should be a great gaming laptop that I am glad doesn't look like a Transformer. The 15" is the sweet spot. After lugging a Sager NP5797 on vacations for 10 years, it's nice to cut the weight in half, and actually be able to game on it.

    Hello group!
I have been looking for a good monitor to play games at least at 120hz, do you know if the HDMI supports this refresh rates? If that is the case, should I look for a monitor that supports that rates over HDMi?
    Do you have any recommendation?
    It is an Aero15-X9 - RTX2070

    Thank you!

HDMI 2.1 supports 4K120. So you need the high speed cable, and a monitor and graphics card that supports it. Haven't looked at any monitors, so can't recommend any, I am more interested in a big screen TV with that spec.

Hey Tzvia thanks ! Now that you mentioned HDMI version, I've gone through the laptop's website and it has HDMI 2.0, this means that it supports 1440@144hz and 1080@240hz.

I think I need to find a monitor supporting at least HDMI 2.0 to play at the refresh rates this port supports.

You should be using DisplayPort in order to take advantage of G-Sync/variable refresh rate, which provides a huge quality of life improvement to playing games that don't max out a monitor's refresh rate.

Agreed, but Nitroek mentioned HDMI, and well, not every laptop has DP. Before HDMI 2.1, I spent a lot of time looking for, and being angry with, the lack of large screen TVs that have DP for the higher refresh. All the TV manufactures went on about being 240, 120 whatever, and I look in the back... nope if you can't plug in your gaming rig and get the refresh rate, these TV companies are all blowing shoot out their arsses. HDMI 2.1 is a step in the right direction that should have happened 10 years ago.

This thread is about the Aero 15, which has a miniDP output, and the poster in question was talking about a monitor, not a TV.

He wasn't asking for a TV. He was asking for a monitor. And for monitors, you should be using DisplayPort to get the best possible performance and experience from your laptop. Your point about not every laptop having DisplayPort is irrelevant to the context of this discussion because the Aero 15 is able to use this connection. Your ranting about wanting to find a TV is irrelevant to the other poster. Got that? Good.

@ Nitroek - what sort of budget do you have for your monitor? What size and resolution do you think you need? What sorts of games will you be playing?

Looking at getting this laptop. A few questions. If you play 1080p on the 4k screen and use intel igpu integer scaling, does it look sharp as if it was native? Also seems like u can't have advanced optimus or mux with the internal screen, is this true?

    Hey Everyone,

I recently got the Aero OLED KD (11800h and 3060). I had a couple questions for other owners of the 11th gen models.

1.) It comes with 3200 MHZ ram, but HWInfo and CPU-z both show the RAM only running at 2666 MHZ. Is anyone else running into this? The 11800h can run RAM at 3200 MHZ, but is the motherboard on the Aero 15 limited to only 2666 MHZ?

2.) Has anyone modded the BIOS in order to undervolt the CPU?

Thanks for any info you can provide fellow Aero owners :)

    I have a bios question.
I have the new KD model and in Intel XTU it says I have bios FB03 from 2021/04/27.
The Gigabyte website has bios FB02 from 2021/06/16
So is the one on Gigabytes site newer with a lower bios number? If so what does that mean?

Hi everyone, I've recently joined the Aero 15 club, as our company bought two XC models for us to use for video editing. Really liking it so far but do have an odd issue on both laptops with the Control Center....last week I upgraded both laptops with 32gb of RAM and also inserted an extra SSD (Samsung 970 EVO PLUS). Initially Control Centre identified both SSDs installed but suddenly stopped showing the info on them, but it does show the RAM and the correct clock speed fine. Both laptops are running the latest version 21.06.10.01 and despite a number of uninstalls of this app, along with Intel and Azure AI (as suggested on various sources I seen) and then reinstalls it just doesn't show any info on the drives, yet if I view the 'collected data' you do see data on both installed SSDs

    "hdd":[{"id":1,"name":"Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB","value":"932GB"},{"id":1,"name":"SX8200PNP-512GT-S","value":"477GB"}]

I have tried to contact Gigabyte support but that seems a dead end and in my searches I came across this forum which looks a bit more lively! If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would be grateful as it would be nice to be able to monitor the health of the SSDs via this app.

    Cheers :)

Is the WiFi dropping still an issue for many people? I would be using my laptop strictly on WiFi, so I’m a little cautious before pulling the trigger on a purchase. Having WiFi drop constantly (even for 30 seconds) is a non-starter.
