What laptop did you end up going with instead @Denjin? I know you had the graphics accelerator and it'd be a shame to waste it. Are you going to wait on the possible 4k/1070M-Q refresh?

    Amazing news!!

After this (well, maybe its better to wait for some real tests), I can definitely recommend this laptop. The keyboard is no longer an issue for me, because all my common shortcuts are now working perfectly (developer workflow). And the screen is what it is, just avarage, not really the best fit for people working with colors despite the x-rite pantone thingy. For people that really want a supernice laptop screen, I can recommend them to go for the Dell XPS 15 4k, it's the nicest screen I've seen for a laptop in my life despite its black flickering glitch.

Yeah I'm without a laptop now...decided to just wait and see what else is coming out. I wasn't impressed with trying to deal with Gigabyte for support. Also, I guess I am spoiled by the MacBook Pro I used for work but I just think the laptop should be all metal or have a better screen for the price. Still, it was a VERY solid non-metal laptop and I did like typing on the keyboard.

Also, my desktop which has some x58 motherboard and a Xeon x5650 from many years ago felt a lot quicker than the Aero. I think the next gen of laptops will be a definite upgrade, though.

Yea I actually jumped on the 1050 Ti Aero 14 the other day (pricing really kills it but I figure I'll return if it sucks) just got it in today and am gonna run it through its paces with a Mantiz Venus EGPU box. Also got a Latitude 5480 on the way to see if the extra CPU horsepower it has it a boon for EGPU gaming. Everything should hopefully be here next week to get some benchmarks down along with some G-Sync Usage to see how it does.

    I'll keep you posted ;)

What I wonder, having to deal with so many issues on win10, how would win7 on a modern laptop and m.2 perform comparrf to win10?

In case anyone is looking to buy the black base model of the Aero 15 soon, it's $100 off with promo. code EMCRKRH65 on Newegg for the next week. It says it's exclusively for newsletter subscribers, so you may need to sign up to get it to work, not sure.

Eta on those have moved into 2018 Q1. I was going to wait for them too since it was supposed to be october/November. But I can't wait till 2018, even then that could be pushed back further.

Any news regarding (spring) Creators Update?

By the way, although Fall Creators Update is looming, Windows Update did not yet afford the spring update yet on my AERO 15. To install it, I'd have to download and run Microsoft's Update Assistant. Any recommendations?

Well, I originally thought I'd be spending a few days per week on a client site (and therefor staying a hotel...). However, the current client is within commuting distance, so a laptop is a bit silly for me when I have a decent desktop for the time being. I imagine early next year the situation will change so hopefully platform updates happen by then.

backlight bleed, especially along the bottom and the bottom right hand corners..... most likely you will have some

apart from that basic checks like the product is in pristine condition

I don't think there is a single Aero 15 that won't have some bleed at the bottom bezel. That's the most consistent bleed point.

    Hello,
I will soon have to change my laptop, my trusted Macbook Pro 17 2011 is getting old.
I Don't want to spend 3000€ for a touchbar 2016 MacbookPro, so why not a PC.

My needs : video editing (Premiere, After Effects), programming (Max), VJing (Resolume), several video outputs are a need.
I'm interested by the Aero 15, but a few things make me hesitating :

    - eGPU and limited TB3 bandwith = seems to be fixed with last BIOS update
    - keyboard issues : seems that the new batches are, or will be, not affected. Lebellium wrote that french keyboards seem to work well (I'll buy a french keyboard)
    - Reliability and tech support : for the same price I could go with a Lenovo P51 (3 years warranty) and, I think, a better support.
Is Gigabyte' tech support trustable in Europe and France ?
Is build quality at the same level that big companies ?
    - I saw here that CallmeBigfaat, hackintoshed his/her Aero 15. So no Optimus, only Intel GPU.
In this case are the video outputs (HDMI, mDP) working ? I guess not, but can you confirm this ?

Thanks for reading me, excuse my english and thanks for future answers.

The French keyboard is affected as well.
Here is the current status with shortcuts (I just tried again with the latest BIOS and keyboard updates, my post is still valid): http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...15-owners-lounge.804575/page-89#post-10583619

For my own use those remaining keyboard issues don't matter at all.

    Ok, I missed this post.

And Lebellium, what is your opinion about Gigabyte tech support in France and reliability of their products ?
It would be my first non Apple laptop, so I want to make the good choice...

    Thanks !

That's also my first Gigabyte purchase so I can't really say. Probably not worse than Asus or MSI and probably not as good as Apple (even though I hate Apple)
To be honest, it already took me 1 year to finally find a laptop which fits my needs so I couldn't add the customer support quality to my search criteria, otherwise I would have kept my old Dell laptop forever...

    Im in uk

Ans wondering why has no place got any black gigabyte aero 15 in stock

Like overclockers and scan both have them in pre order

Now im wondering is it because gigabyt hav stoped supplying them and maybe sorting some issues out?

I think Chrome does not use the color profile for the calibration, Firefox does. That is wjy the colors are mismatched. I think there is a hidden option for that. Google might help.

I would hazard to guess not then, they wouldn't pull something if they didn't intend to do something else with it. My guess is Pascal Refresh with Max-Q 1070 Performance with a 4k Screen (would prefer 2560x1440 120hz personally) sometime Q1 2018. Strictly speculation but I imagine the issues with the keyboard, screen bleed, and thunderbolt performance on the current model along with the Coffee Lake and Pascal Refreshing will most likely result in the device getting pushed back.

The 4k version is slated for 2018 q1. I confirmed it with a gigabyte report and so did my seller. Given their track record so far, it could very well be beyond that ETA

I spoke with sales today. While the rep. I spoke with couldn't confirm a 4k/1070MQ model, he did mention a few interesting tidbits:
    1. When the Aero 15 gets refreshed in Q1 2018, a 1050ti model will be offered.
    2. If a 4k/1070MQ model does get finalized (which based on other posts does seem to be the case), it won't be announced until after Intel lifts the embargo on Coffee Lake (same for 1050ti).
    3. When the refresh occurs, 32GB memory options will be available from the factory.

Unfortunately, the representative with whom I spoke wasn't aware of new keyboards coming along with the refresh models.

So I just got my Aero 15. Thankfully I can confirm that the BLB on my panel is very minimal. Have not gotten any keyboard shortcut issues (at least the ones I use; EDIT Just found out Left ctrl+shift+down registers as ctrl+shift+up; Guess I spoke too soon XD). Now I'm just charging up the battery and installing all the important updates. Fans seem to kick in more than the aero 14, might be better with the new BIOS.
I'm surprised and happy about this since I ordered an open box unit.
I'll edit this post once I've got more.

EDIT: I couldn't get that one shortcut to work after the keyboard firmware update, otherwise everything works well.
One problem I do have is with battery life. I only get a prediction of 4 hours on Power Saver + Battery Saver + -125mV undervolt.
    Any tips are super appreciated!

This is not normal, no, and too low.

Can you go to the task manager and see if a program called "emptyproject11.exe" is running? If it is, you need to update your Smart Manager, as that executable keeps the dGPU on by default at all times.

The new Smart Manager versions no longer start up that exe.

What stable undervolt did you guys get through intel XTU? I'm getting a battery prediction of ~4 hours (no emptyproject11) with power saver mode turned on at ~50% brightness.

Typically when I am on battery power I use power saver if I'm doing light tasks and can get to 6~7-ish hours, or i used balance and do around 5 max.

I have never tested high performance on battery, perhaps you can test it?

Hmm, I got it down to -125mv but that did almost nothing. Still getting 4 hours. I think the new windows creators update might help (I'm still on pre-creators windows 10).

For high performance I got around 2 hours, may be less for video editing.
Is it safe for install intel XTU? just want to know undervolt value.

I use XTU for my undervolt, no issues here.

Video editing and rendering is going to take a lot of CPU power, I'm not surprised battery life is so low when loading the CPU like that.

FWIW, I should clarify and say that my battery life figures are done doing strictly word processing and internet browsing. No kind of heavy CPU or GPU load at all.

With your kind of usage, my laptop is using ~23000mW of power, which honestly makes no sense to me.
That roughly translates to ~4 hours of battery life.
I can't tell what's drawing so much power. I'm sure the GPU is off and that I'm running on power saver mode with an undervolt.
