Try installing it in safe mode?
I think your only option then would be to factory reset through gigabyte's recovery mode, which I only recommend if you don't have a lot of things to backup.

Hi All - I just picked up the new Aero15x, but I am having some issues after a clean install. did a complete clean install, reformatted the partitions (have been burnt by bloatware previously) etc.

I'm posting here because they are essentially the same laptop (and being so new, i assume someone here has had similar problems).

Now I am having a world of pain getting some of the drivers installed again (Gigabyte do not have the updated drivers on their site, just for the Aero15). Issues:
1: The Smart Update does install, but does not start. Returning a "0x07b" error box
2: The fusion app is in startup, but the keyboard firmware is unable to be updated. When i run "Fusion FW Update" (Fusion_V1.2.0.exe), i get an endless "Connecting AP" status, and eventually cannot connect
3: Can not update bios - Get a "SmartFlash is not compatible with your machine"

Basically, the computer is running fine, but the keyboard is stuck on the RGB settings - I can not turn this off. I'm not sure if there is any other useful things i am missing.

    Thoughts?

Can you please test the keyboard and tell us if the problem with the keyboard still persists? Can you check some Ctrl+Alt+Key combinations?

The keyboard on the Aero 15X is running firmware 3.0.1 and from my quick tests is fixed, possibly a hardware revision of the keyboard, if you have any specific key combos let me know and I will try them.

Providing you created the recovery image on a USB stick, you can extract Smart Update from the 15X recovery image, running this allows you to download the correct drivers, just use 7 Zip to browse the image files and extract the software.

However the currently posted Gigabyte Fusion keyboard software for the Aero 15 does not seem to work on the Aero 15X, I used the Smart Update to install the Fusion software for the 15X from the 15X recovery image and that worked correctly, no keyboard firmware is available for the 15X.

Yeah I know, I actually quoted somebody else who was asking about the trackpad and it was not a reply to you.

I actually have no idea what is going on with your smart manager and why it isn't opening.

Since the laptop is brand new, I might just try resetting to factory settings, or doing a fresh install of Windows.

Wrt to bios updates, I've had no issue updating my bios through smart update. One thing to watch out for is that the PC will look like it's about to reboot but will actually shut down. That gave me a bit of a scare the first go around.

    Okay, at least :
Ctrl + Left shift + Down: NOK (Down recognized as Up)
Ctrl + Right shift + Left: NOK (not recognized at all)
Ctrl + Left shift + Space: NOK (Space recognized as B)

Hi guys, my Aero 15 X just arrived yesterday

@Morningkill: Key combos seem to work well, no problems so far.

Still, I had a weird problem with the keyboard: When I use keyboard backlight with the Gigabyte Fusion app, from time to time some keys go really crazy.

For instance, when I press number 2 once, i get like: 23333
When I press the letter s, I get like: sdddd
    Sometimes Windows Key doesnt work.

All of that doesnt happen, when I turn keyboard backlight off, though. Does anyone now what the problem is here?

Hi all I just received my Aero 15x

    1. Keyboard combos seem to work fine

    2. Keyboard seems stiff and noticed, while playing WOT that the “D” key was not very responsive and seemed not to register properly. For example my tank would stop moving forward although I was lressing the D key. I am not sure if this is due to pressure required so currently still experimenting. A bit annoyed really it feels like you need to press really hard. Any ideas/ suggestions on how to test this and find if it’s a hardware issue?

    3. Machine runs smoothly and it doesn’t get as hot / noise. Gaming WOT at ultra settings gives c. 72C for cpu and 50-60C for gpu.

    4. Backlight bleed is evident on the panel (pic attached). Even with lights on due to backlight bleed colours of the win log in screen at the top right corner show washed / faded. Do you think this is acceptable for a £2k laptop?

    5. You cans apply the latest Nvidia game ready drivers as GeForce experience doesn’t let you and Gigabyte uses older version.

    1 Great

3 and noise level at this settings ?

4 I did not see your picture, but I'm believing that a 2K laptop should be nearly perfect., especially when you're talking about something you're going to see everytime you use it.

5 is weird, and potentially problematic...

    4) Sorry not easy to upload pics atm ;)

    3) Regarding fan noise I think it is relatively quiet since fans don’t have to work as hard under these temperatures. I guess the GPU not running too hot helps with internal thermals and noise as a result.

When idle / browsing you really need to put your ear close to the laptop and have absolute silence in room to hear noise which is great.

Have not measured exact Db but based on above there is not need... I ve seen a review which test both thermal and noise recently (need to find link)

    5) I guess Gigabyte doesn’t want users to use updates that have not been tested by them... I hope it has nothing to do with system instability. There are no downloads currently for gigabyte aero 15x website currently appart from the user manual

So I've had my Aero 15 for a while now and have had a few problems with my laptop ever since the one month mark. So I've been using this laptop as my main computer as a student and have been lugging it around in my backpack every day, and after a few days of classes and using it on a consistent basis, it worked great. Then all of a sudden when I boot up the laptop it goes into the bios with no option to let me get back to windows. I then send it out for repairs since there is a free warranty on the laptop and after about a month, I get it back in working order. A few days later, the same issue happens. I then open it up myself and find that the M.2 slot was broken in half but the other M.2 slot was open and looked fine. So I switch out the SSD into the other M.2 slot and feel that all of my troubles with this laptop are over. That was about two weeks ago. I've now been using this thing for the past two weeks and now this morning I try to boot up the computer again and nothing happens. The screen won't turn on, and after plugging the laptop to the charger it finally boots up but says that "No battery is detected". That happened about 3 minutes before I started writing this post and now I am asking whether or not I should send it back out or open it back up and fix the problem myself or ask for a refund or a replacement because I really do enjoy using this computer when it does work.

I'd also like to add that I use a laptop backpack, I have done nothing to the laptop other than switch out the SSD into the other slot, and that I am planning to open it back up and see if the connection to the battery is dislodged or broken. Also, I got the laptop in either late July or early August and started classes in late August or early September.

I think it's worth it to open it up and see if the connection was dislodged like you say, but at the same time having a broken M2 SSD slot isn't exactly ideal and I'd probably RMA it for that reason alone because it seriously hampers future upgradeability. Also, you don't want to forget about it, wait until you're outside of your warranty period, then try to add a second SSD!

I have now received my Aero 15 and as far as I can tell the keyboard is fully functioning. I used a website to check the key combinations and as far as I can tell they are all working. Could someone please let me know how they checked the key combinations, I am not a professional so I am not using any adobe products etc. that the key combinations are used in. The only issue I have run into with the keyboard are keys double registering but this could be the way that I type as it happened on my 2014 blade too.
I also did the trackpad driver change that was mentioned earlier here and it seems to be working well so far.
Everything else seems to be good at the moment, as far as I can tell my backlight bleed is pretty minimal for this computer and is just in the bottom corners and is only really noticeable at 100% brightness on a black screen in a dark room which is never going to be a use case for me.
The only other glitch I am having is that sometimes when I minimize chrome and then open it back up the screen is black for maybe 10 seconds then shows the webpage, any ideas as to what this could be?
Also has anyone had a case where their windows key is being used on another device? Mine says that it is being used another device which is kind of weird considering this should be a brand new laptop.

Any help here would be great,

    Thanks.

    @Kiwikunnt

RE the Chrome black screen issue, I'm getting that too, and disabling hardware acceleration fixes that issue.

FWIW, other people have reported something similar, it's not localised to the Aero 15.

So I just tested it with passmark and everything works except for some reason the right shift is recognized as the left shift but LShift+LCtrl and the entire bottom row and arrow keys all register correctly. LCtrl+LAlt plus all the bottom row registers correctly too. Are there any other combinations I should test?

To those who have received their Aero 15x, can you confirm if it's all aluminum build as the newegg site claim? Or the
build is just the same as the old aero?

I think it's good enough.. Thanks for the time you took.

I don't think confusing right/left left is bad.

Right now, the 15x is not available in France it seems. I'm still not sure a 1070Q + a good keyboard is good value for 300€ (Then, I'm sure too that not having a good keyboard for 2300 euros is not good value)

If your having issues with your Wifi disconnecting regularly (every 5-10 mins) I found a resolution after about 3 weeks of trying many things, in the end it was a combination of a few things.

    1. Only use wifi driver from Aero15 website or Gigabyte Smart Update (last working version 19.40.0.3) as of 6th October 2017.
    2. Uninstall any Intel updated driver & Zero Config Wifi software (or roll back)
    3. Install Gpedit.msc for Windows 10 Home
    4. In Group Policy block Windows updating the drivers

I found using the Intel Update Driver utility or Windows Auto Update it will find the latest generic driver and install that over your current one which has issues with the Aero15.

    Oh, it isn't.
There aren't any new features that would warrant a change to it.

I do wish they'd use a cleaner UI though.

As far as I can tell, the Aero 15 X is all aluminum. Feels well built. I can't compare it to the old aero 15 though, because I dont own it.

I know this was posted a long time ago but I also really hate the OSD that pops up. I have done this and was just wondering if there is a way to get the windows brightness OSD to pop up like it does for the volume once you have made this change?

So regarding my Smart Manager issue, since I can't fix it myself and Gigabyte support is just telling me to format the whole drive (which is not really an option for me), I'm instead fixing the issue by using AutoHotKey scripts to take care of any missing functions (brightness down, brightness down, turn display fully off) and having the ELAN touchpad turn off when I plug in a USB mouse. As for the other functions, I'm not really concerned about them too much, as the only thing that mattered was setting up the fan speed profile which I can do using Smart Manager's Smart Dashboard, which incidentally works perfectly fine, and through there I can launch the fan profile configuration UI.

I tested the hinge on my Aero 15, it is not loose like the first video describes it, and it doesn't fall down when almost closed like the second video shows. I don't really see the problem with the second video though, since if it's at that angle you're probably closing it anyways.

    Hi ,

I bought an Aero 15 and I´m liking it so far but I´m having a really annoying problem. Every time I boot while connected to an external monitor, it just displays the gigabyte logo and hangs, forcing me to perform a hard reset. Has anyone experienced this?

    Best,

Measurements on notebookcheck (battery and response time) are most likely wrong. And I want to know result from other sources. On notebookcheck they say that Aero 14 got 8h44m (with 1440) and Aero 15 got only 7h (1080). Plus while idle Aero 14 - 15h and Aero 15 - 10h. That's 2 hours on wifi test and 5 hours on idle while it has lower res display.

I have owned both, and those values are pretty close to what I get XD. Note, this is without any power saving measures, just balanced profile at 40-70% brightness for me.
I don't know about the idle battery life since I've never left my laptop to idle for too long.
To get more life, I turn on the Windows 10 battery saver + Balanced battery, and have undervolted my CPU. WiFi surfing time for me goes to 9 hours on the 15.

As for response time, I get 8-20 ms when playing DOOM on the Aero 15 (part of the in-game benchmark).
I think I had ~16ms on the 14, but cannot remember since I don't have it anymore.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: I should've mentioned that I used notebookcheck's links because their values are pretty accurate in terms of my usage. I also know DOOM is probably not a good measure for response time, but that's the only tool I have that shows that.

How can you measure response time without external hardware that is pointed towards display? We are talking about display response time right? As I understood (I can be wrong) with software you can measure response time from CPU / GPU to display and with hardware (Response Time Detector) from point when display gets the frame and actually showing the frame. As I know that aero 15 has WVE panel which known as slowest compared to IPS and TN, Aero 14 have IPS.
http://www.panelook.com/modelcompare.php?ids=28005,31862 - yes they can be calibrated as I know but response times are opposite to notebookcheck.
Did you noticed even slightest differences between Aero 14 and 15 in response time? Any other differences ?

Just received my Aero 15X. Saw some people asking about undervolting and temps so I figured id throw in what ive managed to get in case anyone finds it useful.

Essentially achieved a stable -0.17V offset which reduced CPU temperatures by 8-10C under load (both synthetic and gaming loads) which are now in the 70s as opposed to the 80s.

    Hi all,

I need to decide if I should return my unit so I would appreciate some guidance to try and resolve below issue.

I noticed while gaming WOT on my new Aero 15x that the “W” key would stop responding (i.e tank would stop moving forward all of a sudden and it would freeze for a few seconds and then start again). I am not sure if this is related with some other videos I have seen from Aero 15 owners reporting back in May that mouse would freeze (some suggested it has to do with Ominus technology problem). But when I used external keyboard I did not see this issue.
