I have an issue where the P key stops responding randomly, but I can't reproduce it, a reboot resolves.

I dont have a proper dB meter - but according to the app on my phone (not the best accuracy) its about 45-50 dB at 100% fan speed and 20-25dB during a gaming load. -

I initially thought mine was faulty as I did not use the lighting at all and only noticed during much later testing this issue, after removing the key it seems to just be poor placement of the LEDs that do not allow the true brightness to illuminate the word "shift" this issue is only on the left shift key. -
Quick question, as i'm interested in the laptop. Does the problem still happen even with an external keyboard? I feel like I can live with it, if the shortcuts work on a plugged in keyboard. Would you still recommend purchasing it?
-
There's no issues with plugged in keyboards.
-
When I used an external keyboard I didn’t not see any freeze or other issues.
Any way to fix this or is it purely a hardware issue?
I just received RMA authorization so unless I can fix this somehow tonight I am sending mine back ;(
Thanks -
I have the normal aero 15 and its been a few months and i love it, ive already made half the money back editing off this laptop away from home (was the whole reason i purchased) I can also run games i love playing pubg or fortnite on it during those long nights. One issue is the speakers dont get that loud but i am fine with that and the caps key does not have a light indicator nothing too bad. i did stock her up to 32gb of ram and 2 ssd's and i have had no issues the battery life is good and the 1080p screen is crisp i use my "4k" ultrawide screen with my desktop and i cant really tell any difference at a screen this size, i did connect this laptop via hdmi just to test it out and it was nice it handled 4k tasks well (not gaming). But all in all was a good buy i just hope they add more features to the light software and new macro abilities.

Does anyone know if its possible to get the usb ports to still provide power while the computer is sleeping?
I have a wireless mouse that has a usb charging dock that I would like to charge overnight when my laptop is in hibernation/sleep. -
Just received this laptop a couple of days ago. So far, I love it. Backlight bleed isn't too much of an issue, though a corner does appear a bit pinched but not awful. It's fast, cool and relatively quiet so I'm happy.
However, I have updated all drivers using Smart Update but I'm still seeing weird blotchiness in images. I was experiencing this on YouTube before I disabled hardware acceleration in Chrome, which fixed it. It's a weird pixelated, rainbow effect on images. Nothing to do with the display itself as everything else looks clean and crisp around the image.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried reinstalling the graphics driver. -

Okay, this is obviously a cross post from the Aero 15x threaad, but can you guys tell us what memory the 15x comes with? parts number and brand?

Shifted colors are a result of the color profile from the calibrated display. Use a browser which uses the color profile.

Had The Aero 15 for a few weeks now, Bought it from Hidevolution ( @Donald was amazing through the whole process and cant recommend them enough).
Pros:
Smooth fast experience from Start up, had a clean install done.
Screen bleed is minimum, its strange upon start up i can see a little bleed at the bottom, but as soon as i press brightness up or down it disappears.
Working on the Aero 15, I can confirm all the software i use(Revit, Adobe Creative suite etc.) runs amazingly.
I Have played PUBG on ultra and it is fast and an amazing experience.
No heating issues as far as i can tell also no loud fans really that bothers me.
The build quality coming from an Acer is amazing, feels solid and is awesomely portable.
The battery is AMAZING, normal browsing wise i was doing atleast 4-5 hours and had more to spare.(Not didn't properly test it under strain)
The one finger open and closing is also a nifty feature i enjoy.
Cons:
The speakers are sub par, and i would suggest getting Bluetooth ones.
The webcam position is what it is, and that is looking up your nose. Doesn't bother me to much.
All and all im very satisfied with this beast. Worth the cash i paid for it.frostwarefx likes this. -

For those who may not have noticed it, you can use the USB port built-in to the power brick even when the notebook is off or hibernating.

Yeah so the reason I cant use the port in the power brick is my mouse dock needs to be plugged in for the mouse to work obviously but then it cant charge overnight unless I leave the computer on which kind of sucks but I guess Ill have to live with it.
Thanks for the help. -

What about experience with FPS games such as CSGO? Is display response time and other are suitable?

So, I just recently obtained my Aero 15 a few days ago. I did not do a clean install as I there did not seem too be too much bloatware and I just uninstalled the ones I did not use. A problem I seem to have noticed is an odd stuttering effect every time I open a program which requires me to give permission as admin (that User account control pop up thing when opening a program). Anyone have any advice on what might be the possible culprit? I have updated all the drivers through Smart Update if that helps.
Also, would most people generally advice for a clean install as well? -
You mean the display and mouse frozen for about 1 second when calling the user account control popup? I also have it, got used to it.

My apologies if this has been discussed, but with 100+ pages, it is hard to we'd through. I bought this laptop a few months back and am very happy with it. The only issue I have is under high stress, it gets warm on the keyboard and temps raise. If I turn the fans up all the way, the heat goes down and it is fine, rinse and repeat. I have looked into repasting the CPU and GPU and was wondering what results were. I don't want to get easy with trying to reduce temps, but easy fixes I can do.

Hi there,
I've had the laptop for about 2 months and enjoying it so far. I have come across 2 problems though and would like to know if there are any fixes.
Is there any way to wake up the laptop from sleep using a Keyboard or Mouse?
Sometimes on startup, especially from the completely off status, the start up screen is stuck at the Gigabyte screen and does not progress any further. Any way to fix this?
Regards -
Also on that note, for some reason I can no longer adjust my brightness either with the keyboard shortcuts, through smart manager or in windows settings. The only thing that I have noticed since this has happened is that I now have the settings for nightlight but they are greyed out so I cannot edit them.
Any ideas?
Thanks -

Does anyone know why I'm seeing a Firestrike score of 1000 points LESS with the latest Nvidia driver versus what is on the Gigabyte support site? I'd stick with the Gigabyte driver but it's so behind, some games won't boot and tell me to update my driver.

Can anyone tell me which screwdrivers I need to open up this laptop and remove the cooling system? I'm planning to do a re-paste and want to make sure I have the right tools.
Also, if anyone can help me with the re-pasting bit, that would be awesome!
EDIT: I'll be using thermal grizzly conductonaut for this procedure.
Thank you!Last edited: Oct 16, 2017 -
Torx 6 to remove the base plate, normal cross head small for the CPU / GPU cooler.HussainQ likes this. -
Also, any tips on applying conductonaut? I didn't realize this was liquid metal, I initially thought it was regular paste. -
That electric tape stuff is what I'm more worried about.
Wait, this laptop doesn't have any aluminium parts in the heatsink and CPU/GPU area, right?Last edited: Oct 16, 2017 -
Definitely sealing off components with electrical tape is a good idea because liquid metal will short your motherboard if any of it drips onto the board or gets squeezed out from under the heatsink.
I'd look up some how to videos on Youtube as well just to get an idea of how it's going to look.baniels likes this. -
I'm planning to follow this guide almost exactly. It looks like it covers everything I need for a successful repaste.CedricFP likes this. -
Hi does anyone know how to disconnect or off the battery, preferably with pictures, when replacing parts such as the ssd or ram? Can't find any disconnect switch and tried pulling the battery cable out but seems to be quite stiff and don't dare to proceed further. Thanks!

I'm looking into buying a used aero 15 which has been upgraded with an additional 16gb ram and 512 ssd.
The seller just told me this after I showed interest in buying it.
"This morning the keyboard lost connection to the motherboard for a second. Never happened before, but I think I'm going to open it back up to take a look at the cable. I'll let you know how that goes, but I'm sure this would be covered by warranty if you'd rather me not open it up."
Is this something I should be worried about?
It has already been upgraded which I'm pretty sure doesn't void the warranty, would checking this connection void the warranty?
I'm getting the laptop at an insane price, but I'm really wanting to keep the warranty intact if I buy it.
Thanks. -
Hi guys, do you know when the Aero 15 X will be available for Europe?
Would also love to get a Swiss keyboard layout. Gigabyte told me in mid September it would be released by the end of September and still nothing.
