I like the GT75 very much! I'm so use to gaming at 4K in everything so smoothly with G-sync. I don't think I could go back to 1080P though...

It seems like every single 8950HK device is 1080P, with a GTX1080 lol.

I ran a GTX1080 on 1080P for 10 months straight. It was OVERKILL!

My GTX1070 runs 4K pretty good without AA, sometimes minor settings tweaked here and there. I know a GTX1080 would just do wonders better than my laptop. But shouldn't they be using a 1440P minimum on a 6 core laptop with a GTX1080?

Where are the IPS 1440P displays at? Or maybe even one of those 2880x1620 IPS panels.

Never mind what my last post said!

Looks like we can get a 8950HK in the GT75 with the 4K screen. it is $4499

Anyone know why the slower 8850H is deployed on the SLI GT83?

Aero 15X - An AWESOME Gaming Laptop For Creators

    Published on Apr 7, 2018
My review of the Gigabyte Aero 15X gaming/workstation laptop with the new generation of 6 core CPUs. This is the best gaming laptop from Gigabyte for creatives!
    Available Here - https://amzn.to/2GJJpL5

The updated Aero 15X in 2018 is a great addition to Gigabyte’s lineup. With an all new 8th gen Intel 6-core CPU - the i7-8750H with a 144Hz screen, NVIDIA GTX 1070 Max-Q graphics and a great battery. This is a strong alternative option to the MacBook Pro, Dell XPS 1570 and MSI GS65

Very nice video! It was great in 4K! Yea I guess G-Sync is not really needed. Since it really only helps like you said at lower frames, well your not even there with a GTX1070 @ 1080P. So no worries there.

Undervolting the CPU should drop the load temp 10c, which put's it in the safe zone, in the low-mid-80's :)

With the darned high FPS screens, you can't rely on the tried and true 60 FPS RTSS setting to reduce the thermals, running flat out these laptops always get hot - but shouldn't thermal throttle.

With the new 6c/12t CPU's we don't know what the lowest undervolt is for stock speeds, hopefully it's still in the -100mV range. :)

In my experience re-pasting a laptop has a far higher impact on temperatures than undervolting, unless the CPU is running at crazy high voltages out of the box (like 1.2V @ 3.4GHz for a i7 7700HQ), or you win the silicon lottery and get a chip than can do 3.4GHz at under 900 mV (again with a i7 7700HQ in mind). I wonder if they put the motherboard upside down like on the GS63; if they did it would make re-pasting even harder.

How much would the temps go down by if you repasted with liquid metal?

Not all manufacturers (all types products) are good at posting safetydata sheet info on their website or the product package. And I mean it's not very good for the health eating any of the thermal paste out there. Would you rub your fingers in your eyes after spilled/having thermal paste on your fingers? People ain't stupid.

Intel "announced" BGA Desktops many years before, when Intel was going to float this idea of BGA motherboards. IDK if it will come to be any more than the last time... it didn't then either. No one bought into it then. That could change, but I doubt it. These might be nice for a beefy laptop like a GT75 GT63 or GT85 when it comes out, 65w TDP might be just enough to fuel 8c/16t...

    "You have to admit.
It takes a whole lotta balls to release a BGA processor."

    Valantar - Thursday, April 12, 2018
"1440 to be exact. At least for this series."

Would you like to start a new thread on these new CPU's? They don't fit here in this thread; they are off topic different CPU models for desktop. I've asked the mods to move the BGA Desktop Posts to a new thread in the Desktop Forum.

Why move the BGA Desktop posts? Those bring up a light regarding the new Intel BGA chips for laptops. Please r ead in the link from Anandtech.com..... Intel Core-B Processors: 8th Gen BGA with 65W TDP

I think it is on-topic and should stay as well. No need for a new thread or moving posts that are not pro-BGA regardless of what kind of motherboard the CPU gets permanently welded to. It's a crap solution no matter what platform it curses.

I'm sure bro @Falkentyne love what's written in the bold text from the mentioned Anandtech.com link about BGA processors above

"This ultimately made sense – the system design, with a big GPU inside, is limited by the ability to remove heat. The system was also designed by MSI’s laptop team, so they do know a thing or two about adjusting TDP limits using the BIOS. However, we were now in a situation where the Core i7-8700 in the MSI Vortex would perform significantly worse (up to 33%) on certain workloads due to the TDP limitation compared to a thermally unrestricted Core i7-8700 in a desktop allowed to implement the standard turbo profile."

I have stated from the beginning that the OEM's will gear up Crippling of Performance with their own firmware/software. The awful 1263cb scores in Cinebench R15 show that very clearly!! And not forget that amazing 170/171cb scores in Single Core Cinebench load.

If Intel decides to go w/ BGA desktop then I feel everybody will move towards AMD since you need to buy a board once and then upgrade the cpu. With Intel new chip=new boards.

I seriously doubt they will do it across the board. Just on the throw-away "sucker systems" purchased by ordinary consumers, and sold by the likes Dell/HP/Lenovo/Acer. But, it opens the door to nonsense that nobody with a smidgen of technical knowledge will put up with. I think they're smart enough to know they would lose a significant source of revenue. So would their partners that manufacturer gamer and enthusiast motherboards. None of us would be willing to spend money on trash like that. But, who knows... they obviously don't give a rat's ass about notebook owners with higher standards and greater expectations. Only time will tell.

I fix it for you... Intel will continue as usual with LGA for proper and correct performance. Their BGA processors is intended for use in computers/notebooks with a lower z-height. You can't get it both... High performance and thin and flimsy!!

Yeah, there is it  Intel finally find a way to differentiate prices for locked vs. the unlocked BGA. Put in a useless <feature like ( Thermal Velocity Boost)> and charge $200 usd more vs. what they did for the predecessors. It won't stop there... The prices will two or triple the value once it reach out to the customers.

Keep a close eye after each BIOS update, first version will have zero limits and after few updates there'll be more limits.
I feel Intel copy and pasted @Mr. Fox and @Papusan CPU clocks for 24/7 w/o testing.

Asus GM501 Zephyrus M - Cheaper AND Better!

    Published on Apr 14, 2018
My review of the Asus Zephyrus M - GM501. The best gaming laptop from Asus for thin and light performance at a cheaper price.
A powerful laptop i7-8750H with a GTX 1070 on a 144 Hz 3ms screen. This laptop has incredibly strong performance in a thin and light package. It now has a greatly improved keyboard and touchpad from the previous generation.

These New Gaming Laptops are 50% Faster!

Coffee Lake H gaming laptops are here!!! These 6-core laptops are the best gaming laptops yet. The hexa-core Aero 15X, MSI GS65 and the GM501 reviews will be coming soon. Stay tuned!
Note: The 7700HQ is 4core/8thread (not 6/12 like i flubbed in the chart)

Socketed CPU's only fit in chunkers.

While Asus 703 and MSI GT75/63/83VR can and should easily fit a desktop cpu...( With no real excuse to ship with BGA)...literally every other laptop ( real laptops not chunkers)..Aorus X9 for example...cannot fit a socketed CPU so why even talk about it.

It should be talked about more than it has been. The reason it is not is because the bar has been lowered and many are content with something less. "Real" computers (laptops included) are "chunkers" and the other things out there are compromised devices posing as a computer. Like a glorified smartphone or tablet.

Let's see how the Aorus 8950hk fares over the next few months in testing and benchmarks. Half the size of a Titan but just how much of a performance loss compared to 8700k?

Where is the adverticed 5.0GHz Overclock from Dell? The i9-8950Hk in the new refreshed Alienware Coffee models can't even run stock 4.3GHz clocks. Would be nice if some asked Dell on how the buyers should be able to run the chips the adverticed 5.0GHz as showed in their sales website.

It's that dirty pair of weasel words that gives away peak marketing: "up to".

80C under a 100W load is not bad... but it's still not reaching the supposed 4.3ghz all core turbo on the mobile i9, and it's getting nearly double its stock 56W turbo power.

Put some Gpu heat on that Unified TRIPOD heatsink from either the Stress Gpu tests in Aida64 or add Heaven to the Cpu load and I’m sure it will be hot. Very hot and clocks will come nearer base clocks which is 2.9GHz on this i9 BGA chips.

Now we wait for owners to get one, undervolt it, and get rid of C&C and replace it with XTU / TS to get some real OC'ing done. :)

It would have been nice if NBC would have run the benchmarks without C&C OC, so as to allow the built-in single core 4.8ghz mode to kick in; once OC'd it's disabled.

Exactly! Except I remember there's some fiddling to do in the Aorus command control files in order to keep c&c but not use the overclock profiles.
Need the c&c for custom fan profiles. It's been awhile since the X5 V6, I'll have to figure that one out.

Once my preorder ships I'll jump on that!

Where can I see the <feature ( Thermal Velocity Boost)> in use that Intel charge +-$200 more for? Single core run 4.3GHz and not the adverticed 4.8GHz in Intel's spec sheets. Single Core Cinebench R15 tests show same score as oc'd 7820HK (185cb). Not the 211cb as expected.
    upload_2018-4-16_22-18-7.png

    processor
As mentioned previously, the processor can be overclocked in the Command & Control tool as needed. However, one should put the word overclock rather in quotes, because in the case of the test device, the highest OC mode only ensured that the Core i9-8950HK keeps its multi-core turbo of 4.3 GHz consistently at the maximum (4,0GHz @normal, 4.1GHz @ OC1, 4.2GHz @ OC2).
