    Hi,

    I have a M1730 and I will put a Bsel mod to make a Q9200 to work inside ( fsb 1066 to 800).
    After I will do a pin mod with grounding pin 45 in order to adjust again fsb to 1066 mhz. Thank you for all your informations.

    I will tell you if it works. I would be a supercharged XPS M1730 because the Q9200 have unlock multiplier.

    RickiBerlin has been testing a Q9200 ES and QX9300 in his 965PM-equipped HDX9000 here. Two issues: (1) he needed to do some socket pinmods to add quad support and (2) now the system boots but only 1 core is active so is investigating the DSDT changes needed to activate all 4 cores.

    Would be great if could pool your expertise and get it going. It's definitely possible.

    im new here and i want to PIN MOD my Acer Aspire 8935g .
    SO far i understand there is no soft mod, so i ve to do an hardmod.
    I've collected some datasheet for the SLG8SP513 PLL

    First question is, is it possible to mod this PLL ?
    If YES, how do i manage it?
    Where i have to connect the wires?
    Do i only need to lead the pin Nr 64 to ground by an resistor (How much Ohm's) or do i have to mod another Pin too ?
    So far, i hope i will help someone who has searched for this datasheet, and anyone can help me.

    You'd want to do a 266->333Mhz PLL pinmod. That would mean FS_C pin 5 would need a logic 1. I found on a similar PLL that to do that required 0.7-1.5V, so a 20k resistor was needed in my case. See INFO: Overclocking a E4300 with P9400 cpu to 3.16Ghz (333x9.5 @1.25V).

    Ok, if i understood all correct, i have to connect (for 333Mhz FSB)
    Pin NR. 5 (FS_C) to Pin NR 9 (VDD PCI 3.3 Volts) by an 20k resistor.
    I made an shematic, will this be ok ?
    I think Pin NR. 9 will be in my case the best an closest solution.
    Correct me if i'm wrong, for state 0 on FS_C/FS_B/FS_A i have to connect to VSS pins and for state 1 i have to connect to VDD pins by an 20k resistor ?

    there's a mistake on the first page. The T61 does not use ICS954309 for clock generator, it uses SLG8LP564V. I just stripped apart one of my 14" T61 wide laptops so this is how I know.

    I have pictures as well, may post it when I download those from my camera later

    please correct.

    P.S. the pins are really small so would require some skill to solder there pin 7 to ground so that it would raise the 200MHz to 266MHz :( Not that it's not possible, just hard ...

    I'm guessing it would depend on what they decided to put on your motherboard.

    For example some m11x notebooks have an ICS PLL and others use an SLG, even though everything else in the notebook is the same.

    This also applies for my old toshiba netbook, I had 2, both identical, one had an SLG pll and the other had an ICS.

    First off, thanks for this comprehensive guide, it really got me in the right direction!

    I've got a Thinkpad SL510 and I'm trying to get it to run at 200 -> 266FSB. I tried the pin mod, but as was to be expected, the multi locks into x6. There's no way around that, is there?

    I discovered a datasheet for the mostly compatible SL410 laptop.

    It seems that my PLL is either an ICS9LPRS393 or an SLG8SP568V (it lists both, so I'm assuming they're compatible?). In any case, there are absolutely no datasheets to be found for these chips via Google, nor is it available for selection in SetFSB. Are there any secret places that could help me find a datasheet?
    I guess without a datasheet, there is no way to use software to control the PLL. Although it does seem like mine is not TME-locked (register 9 is zero):

    Further investigation showed a successful mod on some Chinese site. Here it is: Google Translate
    Apparently, they disconnected the CPU's BSEL1 from the PLL and manually pulled it low on the PLL side. It's hard to tell from the terrible translation, but it worked for them.

    Is it really that simple? That would mean that the multi lock of the CPU does not detect the wrong FSB directly, but merely pinmods, is that correct?

    What does a logical 0 on the PLL mean in terms of voltage? Ground?

    If you do a BSEL mod (CPU pinmod) it will be locked at 6x.
    If you do a PLL pin mod (FSLx pin mod), the MCH will not know about it and so it will not lock to 6x.

    Yep, ground.

    Alright, I did it. Removed the old resistor, soldered a new resistor to pin 65 of the PLL (which is FSB aka that which goes to BSEL1) and attached the other end to the case. The result: FSB is locked to 200. (Even with the pinmod still present!)

    I did use the corect pin, didn't I? 65 should be this one on the QFN68 package:

    Start at the marker, count counterclockwise, then arrive at the red arrow...

    Something forces the PLL to run at 200. :( Any ideas?

    EDIT: Solved. That particular part of the case wasn't even attached to GND. I can reach 1066 now :D
    Except I can't. The CPU can't sustain it. Let's have a look at voltage mods...

    If you are using an Intel GL40 as your chipset then 266 won't be an option for 800mhz FSB processors... Mine freezes around 240 Mhz irregardless of multiplier, CPU or voltage. You could try getting a 1066 fsb processor and doing a BSEL mod to 800 mhz and then raising your fsb back to 1066 as detailed here > http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...intel-gl960-gl40-useful-info-pll-modders.html Of course, it may be your RAM that's hitting a wall too???
    Edit: After further testing I have determined that for some reason the GL40 gives me a grey screen after exactly 244 Mhz FSB.... It could be some kind of built-in shut-off in the PLL or the GL40 itself??? Or maybe even the GMA4500M???

    I am new here. I would like to ask if somebody could make a .pll, .luc or whatever file is needed to use setpll with my system, and write a simple guide for me how to make it work.
    I have been looking for unlocked bios for my notebook for a month or so. It seems it is unbreakable. I even e-mailed the manufacturer, but they said they couldn't provide me with an unlocked version of the bios...
    The only way of OCing my notebook is through setfsb and setpll. I hope that somebody will be able to help me.

    You seem to have TME enabled, you must connect the TME pin to GND, see the first post in this thread.

    Ok I tried it but I've done something wrong because notebook isnt turn on.
    I unsolder a pull up or pull down (i dont know what exactly is ) resistor (10K) before pin 4-PCI2/TME and then i soldering this resistor between gnd and pin 4 but the laptot isnt turn on. Its something wrong?

    I must unsolder a resistor before pin 4 or cut the track. Then i must Soldering the pin 4 to gnd? Must be any resistor between gnd and pin 4?

    If i do this and i unlock TME then i will can set fsb ? I have MP965 chipset it is problem?

    What you have done should have worked, PM965 chipset it fine, not a problem.

    The reason it didn't work is maybe because PCI2 is used by your notebook.

    Also check your soldering, make sure the pin is grounded correctly.

    Try 10k, if that doesn't work then try something lower.

    I believe the resistor is only important if you want to be safe and not kill the notebook.

    Ok i take this soldering pin 4 with 10K resistor to gnd. System start normaly then if i wanted to get more fsb the system freezes. If i get only 1 mhz more the system freezes. What next?

    I click in fsbset to ultra and then i set a more fsb and it works :) what does mean ultra? Thanks a lot


    MY chipset pm965 support 667Mhz speed ram only but i have 2X2GB ram 800mhz (667-5-5-5......800mhz-6-6-6) IF i change my fsb ram has more mhz too, so i have question? its better to change ram to 6-6-6? Its true? Because if i overlock fsb high ram will be unstable on cas latency -5 ? Its better change it to 6? Is that right? But i dont know ho to change it because in memset cas latency i cant change. I have spdtool there i can change all instructions in memory of ram but i dont know if the laptop starts up

    I test this settings and play game.
    Is it a high values? I dont testet more. I have a fear :)

    hi Guys!

    can somebody give me an advice?
    I have an acer 5920, it has ICS9LPRS365BGLF clockgen, and it's very easy to access, don't need to dismantle the case
    there are two resistor comes out from pin 4 as can see the attached photo
    should I cut the second resistors second leg from board and then just connect it to ground, for a screw hole for example, with a 10k ohm resistor?

    I just connected the second resistor which come out from pin 4 to ground with 10K ohm resistor, doesn't need to cut the original resistor's leg from board
    the system starts normally, and I can use setfsb :)
    I have 2x1 Gb Samsung mem @ 667mhz and the laptop has an integrated video chip, X3100
    I think because of x3100 I cannot reach higher fsb than 233mhz , where mem runs @388mhz
    when I slow down my mem to work @533mhz with taiphoon burner
    I can reach 245mhz fsb where mem runs around @330mhz
    I also flashed a modded bios which has eist unlocked, so I can use TS to achive the extra multiplier
    now my system runs with T300 @245 x 11 = 2695mhz with dual-ida enabled :)

    i have a hp mini 5101, with intel 945gme chipset, atom n280 cpu running with 166mhz fsb. Clock generator is a ics9lprs3165 and TME enabled(byte 9 is 65).
    i want to downclocking the fsb to 133 or 100mhz.
    i thing i need to do first pll mod to disable tme, but becouse my pll is not in setfsb list , im not sure if it will work after the mod. need i do try and error or anybody know more about it. tks

    hmm i want to ask as well... my PLL is also SLG8SP585V, but setfsb shows PLL Control Registers empty. And im not clear how to use setPLL nor its examples? Is it possible to OC like this?

    Hello. I setfsb the diagnosis shows pll registers properly. I found a way how to overclock slg8sp585 . His Core i3 330m already dispersed to 150Mhz on the bus. How to bring all to mind, be sure to share a way to write a pll file to program setpll.

    I replaced my Acer 5920 which has pll pinmodded and now I have and Hp8710p.
    Now I want to confirm the succesfull overclock of my Hp8710p!
    Under the touchpad there are an unused 24pin connector.
    As Nando explained before reagarding 2510p/2710p this is a kind of test/debugg port on Hp's.
    I simply jumped pin1 & pin2 together which allows setfsb to program the pll, which is ICS9LPRS355.
    Now my T8300 runs @ 2,9Ghz with 243Mhz fsb, my ddr2-667 runs @ 803Mhz! :D
    The notebook contains a quadro nvs 320m, which runs @ 700/1400/800.
    This setup /generally 20% oc/ gives Dirt3 @ 1280 x 720, medium setting, 2xMSAA 46fps average, which is pretty good from a notebook. I will post pics later.
    The only porblem what I have when I set up anything in setfsb, everything works normally and restart the notebook, sometimes it doesn't boot, sometimes it can't see the hdd, I need to unplug the battery.
    When I run the setfsb oc off before the restart, which is gaven by the author of setfsb auto tool, the laptop restarts normally and everything is ok.
    Do You have any idea about this?
    I think its just a part of some safety energy management what Hp gaves, the machine has a vpro chipset inside.

    Awesome! Someone has confirmed the debug pin1+2 can TME_unlock at least one of the Santa Rosa HP Compaq notebooks. Yes, I have experienced problems with the system restarting after OCing the notebook. Could be the greater FSB will not allow the SATA controller to reset. One way to correct that is to bring the system back to stock FSB. I didn't bother with any of that.. just shutdown the system then hit the power button to restart it.

    There is a dual-IDA bios for the 8710P (see sig), gaining an extra multiplier. So using Throttlestop you could potentially get 13x243=3.16Ghz. The 45nm Penryns have heaps of headroom so it certainly should be possible to get over 3Ghz at the very least.

    If RAM is your OC wall then consider modding one RAM's stick's SPDTable with an increased CAS to gain more FSB overclockability.

I finally able to connect a resistor to pin14 and use setfsb(with code from Abo.) and im confuse what is the next step to OC my M11x??? I slide Setfsb to 285 and each time i restart my laptop freeze or unable to boot properly. Is there anything that i missed? Do i need to buy a new Ram with lower latency? THanks in advance.

    I tried many things...shut down the machine and then restart, same error...
    I need to unplug the battery again...
    So I choose to use the setfsb oc off tool, before restart or shut down.
    i don't think it's because the higher fsb...when I downclock the cpu same things happen...but it's not a problem, I can live with the oc off tool :D
    I also flashed the dual-ida capable bios, I've got 3,16Ghz, but it's not stable...
    Orthos gaves an error shortly, it doesn't matter which vid was set up
    I tried to lower the fsb to achive stable 3Ghz at least, but Orthos gives error again. I decided not to use dual-ida, I use the T8300@2,9Ghz, mem@802Mhz.
    Today I will write cas 6 to the ddr2-667Mhz table to gain more stability.
    Now I use Win7x64, so I cannot use Thaiphoon burner :(
    But I will mod the spd at my friends machine :D
    Anyway, thanks again for everybody regarding the Tme enabled pll methods and for the dual-ida bioses as well, with these mods I can maximize my actually laptop's performance, and previously my Aspire 5920 as well.
    Nando, please referr to my post in the first post of this topic as a succesfull oc of Hp8710P! :D

    I'm having difficulty with his check, on my laptop bus speed does not rise above 153 MHz (154 instant crash), I changed the RAM, and gave higher voltage cpu - still freezes momentarily, at 152 completely stable. What could it be?

    Keep me elaboration pll file for the program setpll. Please accomplish your goal, to how much you were able to overclock this pll. pll file is now in beta testing

    I have done it!

    My M1730 has got a motherboard with SLG8LP550 clock generator.
    I cut contact on pin 45 and let it in the air, no need to ground it and it works!

    At the moment:

    M1730 with X9100 at 4GHZ (15x266) and 9800M GTX SLI 775/1650/940

    please, i have GM45 and T5870 core 2 2GHZ 800mhz
    i used BSEL mod in first page, wire B23 and B24 on socket P.
    now is 1066 MHZ but CPU multiplier is blocked to 6X
    total 1596 MHZ

    how i can unlock multiplier

    How do I get setPLL to run on startup? I tried messing with the auto folders/files but I get an error when I try to run it...

    first of all I would like to thank you for doing gr8 job here :)

    I need advice(s). Got HP dv6-1419eo in default T4300 + 4GB DDR3 1333MHz today I switched CPU for P8400 with 266x8,5=2.26GHz

    PLL is SLG8SP513V TME is enabled if I set PCI2 bit 2 to zero notebook wont freeze.

    other side of the MB is clear, there are instructions how to modd this pll but not HP which makes difference, R 122/R1424 isnt around the chip


    My goal is FSB 333Mhz. which according to datasheet is pin 5 seting to 1 and it seems littlebit complicated. So Guys is there any possibily to get FSB 333Mhz ?

    I hope someone can help me, thanks in advance.

    BTW: with new CPU I am getting EIST, and it seems that all links for modded BIOS F.43 are dead :(( If some1 know about woking link please contact me.

    I was given a L455D-S5976 that I want to overclock. the PLL on the motherboard is a SLG8SP626V. I was following a thread about SETPLL, but it was kind of old and all the documents for different PLL has "disappeared".

    Anyone got or can help me OC this laptop with the SLG8SP626V PLL?
