Hi! that heatsink (in that P770DM) needs some modifications for those P3000 or P5000?

Quadro cards normally follow standard mxm 3.0b format. Should need no modifications.

you can certaily upgrade your G4 17 with a P5000 because it is in the list of parts for zbook G4

    P3000 Y3J90AV
    Part No: 917110-001 Description: SPS-GFX NVIDIA Quadro P3000 6GB

    P4000
    Part No: 917111-001 Description: SPS-GFX NVIDIA Quadro P4000 8GB

    P5000
    Part No: 917112-001 Description: SPS-GFX NVIDIA Quadro P5000 16GB

M5000M should be the same for your G3 17. A P5000 in your G3 could be great but you should test it. I don't know if that is compatible

A gtx1080 requires a really good cooling system (150+W of TDP) and a lot of power, so that is not so simple

The MSI is extremely solid. Many of us have power boosted it well beyond its 115W stock, for many many months. Eurocom used to stock the MSI 1070 before they came out with their 1070.

@sicily428 Ok, what's the difference between the MSI 1080 type 1 and type 2?
What MSI laptops even use type 2? what is the TDP of type 2? 200W? 195W? 190W?

It looks like Type 2 does not use an auxiliary power connector while type 1 does use an auxiliary power connector. Type 1 is on GT73VR 6RF and 7RF.
But what is type 2? Is this the 1080 used in the MSI 16L13 / Tornado F5? And what is the TDP if it does not have an auxiliary power connector?

yeah, not gonna happen considering similar standard MXM cards are having issues. You may as well get the MSI 1060 instead and see if that will work.

A 1060 is the same as a 980DT which is more powerful than the 980M. It is better than having a board die in a few months. There are a few people that have had the standard MXM 1070 that had it fail within a few months due to either too much TDP in the vBIOS, poor design, or poor components.

If @Eurocom Support hasn't said anything lately, there's probably a reason for it.

That's why I say go with the MSI 1060 because the design is more robust and you won't have issues later on.

well since my 980M has been working flawless for 1+ year i only recently began to surf around and see whats happening with updates/bios/mods etc
thats when i noticed the 1070 works on the P170EM
(as well as Nvidia's FAIL for not naming them 10xxM *highlight MOBILE/NOTEBOOK card*) -- makes it harder to research the card itself.

i contacted Eurocom yesterday for information..

Today I decidied to finally try Prema's MXM 9xxM v2 OC vbios (not G)
this whole time ive been running on stock :D

    this apparently adds 0.07volt
    up from .9875volt

I don't know what the individual slot limit is but my p370 can do 170W sustained draw on each slot stress test stable and the platform power limit CPU throttle doesn't kick in until I get well over 500W wall draw (NB this is P370EM I can't imagine clevo would go backwards with the SM iterations)

So power should be no issue since most 1080Ms are 150W.

I imagine temps will be your main problem

That is, after you source a compatible 1080 ;p

Eurocom have not said a thing about their MXM 1080 for a loooooong time I'd assume its vaporware
