That qosmio seem using a mxm 3.0b card and it also uses optimus.

    " Graphics Card
In contrast to the former X870, Toshiba uses Nvidia’s Optimus technology in the Qosmio X70-A-11R. The CPU-integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 takes care of routine graphic acceleration. Its clock rate actually ranges from 400 to 1150 MHz. The unit installed in the review sample however consistently runs with 600 MHz according to GPU-Z. We cannot explain why Toshiba does not allow the GPU to reduce its default clock."

so a gtx1060 could be compatible IMO :)

    ask @woodzstack

You could consider a gtx1050 or a gtx1050ti or an old gtx960m. They are mxm 3.0a cards
may be @woodzstack can help for finding one of those cards

My partners can get these but because of sheer volume needed to cut any sort of profit we've essentially rarely if ever sold any.
I personally do not hold any stock of these smaller cards. Just not enough demand for them.

Gtx1050/1050ti and quadro m2000m/m1200/p2000 could be really useful for models like hp g2 15, hp g3 15, dell m4800, dell m7510 IMO

Your right, and we could probably even get a single sale oneday too for these. But it's not in demand enough to start bulk ordering them by the hundreds.

Good point. usually cards in this area of performance are soldered on or kept away from the larger more enthusiast grade laptops though, also, these cards rarely die, because they are already lower powered versions of the higher end cards, and draw much less power and prone to less damage.

Thank you, I will probably settle for an older geforce gtx 770m. The seller makes it clear it is type A, which is what I need. I believe the 3gb video memory will be enough for medium gaming with decent fps, and the price range is around $200. At some point in the future I may upgrade, and I will be sure to come back to this friendly community for recommendation. Thank you to everyone involved!

Honestly I haven't seen yet gtx770m in MXM "a" format. To get that level of performance in this form factor You would need jump to Maxwell generation cards like gtx950m or Quadro equivalents M1000m or above.

That looks like MXM 3.0B What am I missing here ? I thought A type were smaller and different shape, thats a B type.

Also in the listing is a heavily used card, with obvious signs of usage and it says brand new unopened, LOL.

Whomever has that listing probably doesn't know what they are selling.

your welcome. What laptop are you trying to upgrade ?
My partners have A type cards they said, I asked earlier, just didn't get a whole list, if that's the type of card your system uses. Alienware's use B type.

I have a HP zbook g2, it currently only has Intel HD graphics .. The GPU slot is empty. My thinking is that any video card would help to distribute the processing load better. Stock options are AMD firepros and Nvidia quadros 1000, 1100, 2000, 2100. Thanks again for all the help!

We have modified the vbios to make the card 90W now instead, inside Alienware's.

There was issues with how much power the AW17 could give, so now it works but with 90W instead. So the picture showing 125W, or 115W or even the news we dropped it to 100W - is old news, it's 90W for Alienware now. It comes with a tiny drop in performance, but the upside is it will probably last forever now too, and not have issues that we encountered due to not enough power. I suspect - it will still draw 100W+ when in load though and turbo. I haven't checked. So this still gets over 15,000 graphics in Firestrike. Compare that to like 9,500 for a 980M - this is a massive step forward !

Those use LVDS cables, no ? Theres no option for eDP - someone correct me if I am wrong here (like were these eDP the whole time ? Pretty sure they predate eDP 30/40pin cables, but maybe it was the older 50pin ??? is that what your saying ? The previous AW's like M17X-R4 and AW17 had two connectors inside for different panel/cables the 18" lineup does not have this)

I don't understand their tweet. The AW18 and M18x series ONLY have LVDS. It's not like M17x R4 and AW17 where there is a eDP header as well.

Any idea if the new Clevo 1060 or 1070 MXM cards (82x105) are compatible with the P770ZM (LVDS version)?

Best to ask in the Clevo section, but I recall reading that it depends on which connector (LVDS or eDP) your motherboard has.

No, Clevo uses their own GPU shape, non-compatible with any other laptop (even -DM series).
