Sony Vaio C series
-
vaios are the sexiest i think. but then apple's are great looking too.
but i voted for the IBM... with my lappy on the wild, heads turn and look at me with that "damn-nice-laptop-there" look -
I think Sony Vaio series have the best looks, expensive though! I also like ThinkPad's basic black look. My vote however goes to the vaio series
-
All laptops look alike. I just chose Dell. Looks only matter for food because better looking food tastes better
.

i chose the hp's, because they are the most beautifully styled notebooks i have seen. the imprint finish is so nice. and the design is almost perfect. i love the touchpad is the same material as the rest of the surface, it has a on/off switch on the top of it and a scroll bar on the righthand side. also, all of the functions above the keyboard, are touch slides, which are soooo much nicer than the old buttons. the 17" screens are absolutely gorgeous, especially if you have a geforce 7950 gtx running it. they are heavy enough not to feel cheap, but light enough to make them very portable.
and for those of you who are commenting on people picking notebooks just because they are what's in the mainstream stores... that's a load of crap!!! most people on this type of a board, have at least looked at several pic's of all the different notebooks, all over the web. when someone wants to buy a new LT, they look at several before making a decision. i have seen, in person, the sony's, asus's, panasonic's, alienware's (friends), macbooks (hate them), fujitsu's, acer's, dell's (wouldn't use one if you gave it to me for free) and hp's. most of them look very plain, except of course the alienware machines. but the hp's were not only stylish, but they give you plenty of options for performance.
i am going to buy my new notebook in a week or two, and when i started my search, i was willing to buy any brand; except dell or macbook! i wanted the most power and function, balanced by the best look and price. the hp has risen to the top of that tall order. this is just what my research has shown to me. no offense to anyone who owns or uses a different brand. -
I spent the last couple of months evaluating dozens of laptops. I ended up getting a really boring Lenovo because it came with Win XP not Vista, and its fairly upgrade friendly. If price had not been a barrier I would say the ultra-portable Viao's are pretty snazzy. But the full size DTR versions are butt ugly. Especially the flat white one! The macs I just dont get teh appeal of. They look neither hi tech or stylish. they just look like a clunky mid-size notebook. I actually think the old clamshell ibooks are a better industrial design than the current ones. The Asus ones are pretty awesome looking. I personally dont really dig leather stuff, but the ones with the leather palmrest are pretty swank.
I also like the Gigbyte ones a lot. Just cant find them anywhere! -
i love my Dell fine thank you...so i dont need you all to get me lusting over a new notebook when i should be saving my money.... hahaa
so, i guess i would have to vote for Dell because i like my notebook as it is, as no one else i know has a notebook, i can show it off and make them lust for one! lol -

I like the look of Dell Latitude Laptops.
-
apple for design but asus for design and quality
-
That Apple isnt on top here says more about the (lack of) taste of the voters.
Seriously, there is no competition. MacBook Black is the undisputed king of good looks. The MacBook Pro line is exquisitely designed as well, but the blackbook provides stiff competition there.
As for the race for second place - Asus or Sony depending on the season. Sony just came out with color-keyed models that look very fine, and they usually have an all-black super-slim carbon model ($$$). Asus in march 2007 has absolutely nothing special, 2006 was better in this regard.
Lambos? Thats not design, that's kitsch. It's fun for sure, but its not design and certainly not good design. -
-
Uh, I can't stand how Apples look. This thread shows that a lot of people feel the same way
Asus for the win -
Sony then Asus in a close second. And how can anyone say Apple notebooks look good??? They are as generic and generic gets. No matter which one you look at they are all the same. No special materials used like metals or carbon fiber or anything else. Boring!!!!
Now if the poll was to include the desktops, then that would be a diff story. But for laptops... macs are dull -
Macs were nice at first when they came out but now that about 1 out of 5 people have one on every college campus theres no real exclusive factor or anything cool about the look.
I think Sony definitly makes the best looking laptop especially the SZ series which has got to be the most sleek looking laptop out there. -

When I typed "Ugliest Laptop" into the Google search engine and then clicked the images button on the top. This ASUS laptop was the tenth picture from the top.
This is indeed the ugliest laptop ever made. -
hey homer nice find
but i voted for asus i like their looks i used to hate em once upona time but
now i find it growin on me -
I think sony has the nicest looking laptops out there, HP is catching up though with their imprint finish.
I love the look of my vaio c series urban gray... its unlike anything else out there. -
Kinda surprised to see fujitsu so low... I like their understated, simple look. I would say it goes like this:
Fujitsu
Asus
Sharp(not on the list)
Apple
Sony
IBM(very plain, but professional)
Dell(+1 for their XPS line, -3 for their white bumpered inspirion line)
HP/compaq
Toshiba(Brand i own. The new A200's look decent, but their past stuff was fugly)
Acer (dead last... most generic, uninspired cases) -
If only the Asus G1 didn't have that thick bar above the screen... man that would have been the most perfect machine ever..
-
-
But why that bar ...
-
asus in the lead till now!!

AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
Others have said it, but seriously, where is LG? They have won the most awards for design.
-
beauty is in the eye of the beholder......
ASUS ftw -
Acer Ferrari 1000 series in my opinion.. its curves really do make it attractive and the red lines at the side of the monitor.. and the carbon fiber is just oh so beautiful..
)
-
Go Asus
-
Sony used to be best but that's no longer the case with their current line of laptops. Don't know, maybe Apple? Hmm.. but then again I'm not entirely happy with their Intel-powered laptops either... the Macbook Pro looks thick compared to the Powerbook. Okay then, guess my vote goes to LG. Their machines never dissapointed in the design compartment. They're the ones who invented the white keyboard area/black glossy-lid look, and guess what? Many manufacturers (Toshiba and Samsung for example, amongst others) find it intriguing enough to make it an "inspiration" for their new laptop designs.
-
Where is LG? Oh, well, I'll just go ahead and vote for Apple then.
-
what about alienware.. i still think sony's are probably one of the nicer looking... but alienware laptops are no slouch in that department
-
Thats the S6 series, its actually won design awards and
many think its beautiful, read all of the reviews. -
rahul maybe ur right ....maybe its the light that makes it look ugly....
dunno a core duo nonetheless and is XP and vista compatible -
I'd have to go with the HP consumer line, as that is all I've ever owned with the exception of an IBM ThinkPad (which are not sold on looks generally).

-
I vote IBM for the heck of it...some people are different..i like simple rugged stuff...so i think the thinkpad hits that mark =)
-
shoelace_510 8700M GT inside... ^-^;
Um...why isn't Alienware on the list?? They have some damn kool laptops.
-
Wow, I didn't ever think that HP would pass up Apple...
-
Alienware definately has some of the best looking and of course unique notebooks.
I vote Sony because not even one of their notebooks doesn't look good.
Acer has the Ferrari, which looks amazing.
Asus has the G1S, C90, which I think look awesome.
Apple has the MacBook, which, like Alienware, has its very unique style. -
why's asus winning in this poll? I mean I wish they could look more appealing to me.. but theyre just not as appealing as the HP Pavilions..
-
-
Sony wins this hands down with Apple in a close second.
-
Ditto on the Asus. Everytime I look at their stuff in person it really knocks my socks off. Seconded by Sony. Apple I find pretty boring. And HP? Dell? ick. Thats like the khaki dockers of computers.
-
-
Thinkpad. Nothing beats the sleek, dark, classic look. One look at a Thinkpad, people know you mean business.
-
No Samsung or LG? They have some of the best looking machines rival that of Sony and Apple.
-
I would vote for Alienware, then Sony, Mac and Asus.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Come on people vote Asus dont let mean old Sony catch up!
-
i went with fujitsu cuz i like their smaller ultra portal designs
same with sony i like their 11.1 designs but i am nor impressed at all with their larger 15"+ screens that look like wannabe macs
apple of course has nice looking laptops. Can't believe HP?Compaq is rated so high i hate their laptops they looks like shiney plastic toys -
I have seen Asus notebooks which looks totally cheap, namely the entry-level F3J series and the like, but the V series are spectacular. -
I think there should be another thread like this except it's called the best looking models. The dell xps 1330 is a sexy looking beast along with the hp line up and some of sonys. I also saw another one called the Samsung R70, which is onyl sold in europe. That one looks very beautiful too. -
lenovo all the way. i am so happy i purchased this T61.
brand with best looking notebook
