Replace nVidia Quadro with AMD FireGL. Not really the simplest option though.

If you only need 2D graphics like spreadsheets for the 3rd monitor, there is usb solutions available. That's the easiest way to get an extra monitor.

Nope, swapping the video card is not an option for me on the work computer.

What is the USB option you mention? That may work to just have Outlook and things like that running there.

    Thanks

Remove the Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth driver. Then, install the following driver:

Intel Centrino Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 + High-Speed Adapter Driver
    Version: 1.0.81.20579 (1.1 A2)
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54901.exe

    Hi again,

could someone say something about the SD-Slot speed? The 8540w was here very slow, so i ask me is it the same slow speed at the 8560w?

Maybe someone could put a sd-card in the slot and test the speed? Write and read on class 4 or 6 or 10 card.

Its maybe a decide for me between 8560w and m4600, so i dont want to use a usb adabter to read my camera files from sd-card.

    Thx a lot.

Would it be possible to also need Wireless Assistant? I don't have these new models yet but the 8510w needs Wireless Assistant to be installed in order to "turn on" bluetooth the first time after Windows install.

Saw a price drop on the 2x8GB DDR3 SO-DIMMS and jumped on it. Now running 32GB and no longer worrying about running out of RAM when I fire up my virtual machine farm for demos. Now if the 2860qm CPU would drop to $199, I'd be very content.

Oh no change in WEI, the ATI Fire Pro is still the lowest score at 6.9.

I just picked up one of these ( XU083UT#ABA | i7-2630QM 2.0GHz/8GB/500G/15.6" 1920x1080 w/ 1G ATI FirePro) today and love it. My only complaint is the hue to the screen is very blueish compared to my desktop monitor (HP ZR24W | VM633A8#ABA). I've gone over and over the color correction settings in the ATI Catalyst Control Center and in Windows 7 to try and get a matching configuration compared to my monitor but it just doesn't come close. DreamColor display wasn't an option due to cost and the work I do on this laptop is not image intense, I'm just a little disappointed.

The color difference is very noticeable and I know that laptop displays can't match a desktop monitor for accuracy I'm just a little surprised at the level of difference.

Anyone else notice a blue hue, tint or have a recommendation on the color settings?

unless you really really need to, update. There are a few possible issues with F.20 and once it's installed you can't go back, so its a problem.

According to HP it does the following:

    - Provides improved security for the BIOS flashing process.
    - Provides the Secure Erase option.

Seems like a waste of a full version BIOS release for just those two options, but there you have it.

I finally upgraded from 12 to 16 - using "brute force" thru that optical drive bay hole. Everything fine, although I was a bit anxious :)

and upgraded to the new FW version for my SSD - benchs are quite ok for a workhorse, no c-state dabbling or other stuff, just my work installation:

KamilPL, this driver (sp52773.exe) at installation writes that the bluetooth device not found.
Bluetooth and WiFi-card are somehow connected? Whether it is necessary that wifi has been included?
    Thanks!

Hi, got my notebook yesterday evening (LY528EA, i7-2670QM, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, Quadro 2000M 2GB, DreamColor2 FullHD display) and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I need help with setting the 30bit color depth - Windows 7 Pro allows only 16bit or 32bit, even when I select a non-Aero theme. Or is the 30bit only supposed to work via OpenGL?

32bit o fwindows setting is amount of colou which will windos use for the software part, so it will feed 32 bit data to graphic card, which will digest and feed 30bit data to display. There is no setting, except H mobile display assistant, which can completely adjust colors white balance etc.

The process is the same, except when you have less-bit sidplay, graphic card just sends only colours the display can show.

Hi Palda, thanks for your answer.

I thought the 32bit color depth in Windows was used as 8bit per RGB channel + 8bits for transparency (Wikipedia "Color Depth": Many modern desktop systems [Mac OS X, GNOME, KDE, Windows XP/Vista/7, etc.) offer a 32-bit color option (given a suitably modern video card), but in that context, 32-bit color refers to 24-bit TrueColor with 8 bits for an alpha channel.] but it could also be like you said (same source: Systems using more than 24 bits in a 32-bit pixel for actual color data exist, but most of them opt for a 30-bit implementation with two bits of padding so that they can have an even 10 bits of color for each channel, similar to many HiColor systems.)

I have a 8560p model 732EA with a i5-2540 cpu and integrated GPU for 5 months now, nd until today i didn`t really try to stress the CPU for extended periods of time. Yesterday i tried to render something and when i looked into HwInfo 64 I was schocked seeing that my cpu was at 100°C and the CPU was throttling down to about 2Ghz.

Of course I immediately tried to clean my fan and heatsink, but it was already pretty dust-free, and it didn`t help.
Has anyone of you encountered similar problems, or do i have a specific probem with my machine ? Any suggestions ?

    thank you for your answers...

There is a difference in construction between p and w series, so I'd recommend to ask this question in the 8560p forum, as more users might have encountered the same problem there. There was a problem mentioned with the heatsink not being properly touching the cpu (lack of thermal paste) and due to that similar symtpoms as you mentioned appeared.

I thought this is the "inofficial" 8560 P forum too sincethere was a combined 8540w/p forum too and the 8560p forum is not very frequented.

I think i can recall the post mentioning the improperly mounted heatsink (I actually think that was the GPU heatsink) but i nearly burnt my fingers when i touched the heatsink so i think it could very well have had a temperature of 100°C. If there was a problem with the contact between the CPU and the Heatsink the HS itself should be relatively cool because the CPU was throttling and thus used less power than normal... and i dont't want to check and void my warranty...

The 8x40s had more in common between the P and W lines though. A differentiation in color, video, and maybe monitors.

The 8x60 series, at least as far as the 8560 is concerned, are completely different builds between the P and W. Design contours are different (an 8560P modular bay and 8560W don't share the same bezels. Port layout is very different as well.

If the 8x40P/W series were brothers, the 8x60P/W series are cousins.

Hello. Can anyone help me... I have this 8560w with intel i7 2820qm processor. Now I instaled 4x4Gb of kingston hyperx ddr3 1600MHz ram. But now may system says that this ram is working at 1333MHz and I am wondering why, because my CPU does support 1600MHz ram. I am lost, what should I do to get it to 1600MHz???

p.s. I know that there is not such a difference to notice, but I'm just not happy if my ram is 1600MHz and running at 1333MHz.

    Thanks.

First, make sure you have no other RAM that is running at 1333 because if even one stick is, they all will. Next, check and make sure your RAM really *is* all 1600; check all sticks in another machine. Third, talk with somebody else because that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

    Hei.
I have all of the ram slots the same, i double checked. To try them in another notebook: i cant, because nobody I know doesn't have that powerful laptop. Is there any way to unlock bios or cpu or something that I can manage, because the bios provide by HP doesn't have any of those options. I upgraded bios and all that, but nothig is seems to be working.

    Hello,

I've ordered a 8560W with the extra drivebay option to add a second SSD.
The SSD's I've bought are the Vertex 3 SATA3 models.
I've just find out that the drivebay only supports SATA150 so I think my second SSD is worthless in terms of optimal speed.

    Am I right?

I have the primary disk the ssd kingston hyperx sata3(6Gb/s) and in drivebay second disk 750GB sata2(3Gb/s) and both is working fine with these speeds. You have to instal intel rapid storage, wich comes with notebook drivers and it works all fine.

SATA Bays 0+1 should be 6Gb/s, SATA Bay 3 (eSATA in Dockingstation) should be 3Gb/s

have still the blu-ray in Bay 1, so can´t check.

Hello. Can anyone tell me how long is the battery-life in conifiguration:

    Non-Dreamcolor
    i7 2630QM
    8 Gb ram
    500 Gb HDD
    8 CELL standard battery

And how long you can work with the extended HP ST09 (QK639AA).

I mean office work, wifi stuff with surffing in the net and some heavy duty in the cad applications.

    Hi,

I have M5950 with LGD0259 panel and even on min level screen is very bright compared to other laptops I have thus it's not very comfortable to work in the evening or night... Is it possible to change default brightness levels somehow? Drivers, ACPI?

When working on battery with VariBright enabled screen can become much darker and comfortable to use but it's not a real solution here... and VariBright is kind of annoying.

yes, standard battery. and not on HP optimized setting, but "full on" (Höchstleistung in german).

have no use for the extended battery - makes it even heavier and I normally have a power socket nearby at customer sites.
