Can one of you HP owners reflash my FX3700m back to lenovo 62.92.6F.00.05/07. I reflashed my card to HP 62.92.6F.00.08 thinking it was an update, now my thinkpad W700 won't boot with the reflashed card. I checked the bios before I rebooted and the GPU card's bios showed 62.92.6F.00.08.

    Hi Blomquist,

It's a pity ! The french (and some other languages) backlit keyboard was clearly mentioned in the maintenance manual.
I hope it will be produced in 1212...
The french branch of HP said last week : This keyboard version is only sold in USA"... :-(

Happy new year everybody ! ;-)

Most likely due to the fact that you can't order any of the non-english backlit keyboards with HP.

    really a highfrequence sizzle?
if so - could be a SSD relatedproblem.

had in various laptops various SSDs and some "you could hear" on i/o intensive operations (yeah, I know, now moving parts etc. - might be a condensator or transistor, be not being a technical orientated person).

so, if it´s the SSD "feeping" you could have a process which results in those microfreezes.

Since you said you had updated your drivers recently, it might also be a problem with one of the drivers. Some drivers are not very good and cause a a small "hickup" in the "to do list" of the CPU.

    Information from DCP-Latency-Checker Homepage :

You should definitely check if your system is showing some very high spikes for DCP-Latency. If this is the problem you should check out which driver is responsible for the high latency. Usually the first suspect would be the WiFi-Driver. I have seen a lot of bad drivers from Intel for their Wlan-Devices.

To find out which device is causing the problem you should open the device manager and disable one device at a time and check if the problem persists. If the problem is still there disable the next one.

To see your systems current DCP-latency and monitor changes after you disabled a device you can download a small programm called DCP-Latency-Checker. You can get it here : DPC Latency Checker

I had this last week too on my 8560W- it was exactly every 30s and started after I installed the HP power assistance update via the HP support app. I couldn't see a way to rollback so I just uninstalled it via the control panel- never saw any benefit over the standard windows app anyway. Problem solved

My company recently purchased HP elitebook 8560W. It has intel i&-2720QM, 8 Gig ram, Nvidia Quadro 2000M and 128 G SST HD.
As soon as the unit is plugged to the docking station the laptop fan starts running and runs quite loud and fast. Is anyone experiencing this issue with their laptop?

Hi, mdossaji. Did you try to disable "fan always on while on ac power" setting in bios? It should be in System Configuration/Device Configurations menu. Maybe it has something to with it.

I have HP Advanced Docking Station 230W that I constantly use with my 8560w and I didn't notice any change in fan speed when compared to unplugged from the dock state. Generally, fan runs quite silent when cpu/gpu temps are below 60C, speeds up when going above 60C, and makes everyone in the same room hate you when temps are going close to 80C, as it gets really loud at that level =) But at least it keeps laptop surface comfortable.

If your laptop temps are about or below 60-65C when you connect to the docking station, then I think it shouldn't be loud. 8560w is still noticeably louder than any notebook that I worked with before. It maybe a matter of personal perspective.

Hi, first submission in this august technical forum.

I think this is a new question in this thread. I haven't found anything similar here yet.

I am trying to figure out what Blu-ray blank writable/rewritable media is compatible with my HP 8560w EliteBook Mobile Workstation.

I self-upgraded the original DVD writer that came with this model laptop to a Blu-ray rewriter (HP Model BT11N, HP Part # 653022-001) and over the last month or so I've been experimenting.

I bought some Optical Quantum BD-R DL 50 GB blank media and haven't been able to create/write anything to these discs. Optical Quantum discs are evidently only compatible with a specific list of "older" desktop Blu-ray rewriter drives and they MEAN IT quite literally, no exceptions. If your drive is not on their list you will only get "Write Check" errors. I found this out the hard way.

Ignoring for the moment that all Blu-ray blank media SHOULD really be standardized so the customer can buy [at pretty jacked-up prices] with confidence, does anyone have any experience with BD-R or BD-RE blank media that is compatible with an HP 8560w (BD-RE drive, Model BT11N) or is compatible with any current generation HP laptop BD-RE drive?

I have already run all available Windows 7 diagnotics on my BD-RE drive, addressed all possible actions that Windows offers, AND had HP provide a warranty replacement of my first BD-RE drive. I have now confirmed that the replacement drive behaves exactly like the original. I conclude that Optical Quantum blank media simply does not work in a "modern" Blu-ray drive.

I have also posted this issue in the HP Communities forum and was not able to get a single reply over a 3 week period.

It could be that my first purchase of BD blank media is the ONE BRAND with compatibility issues and every other brand in the marketplace works just fine across all BD-RE drives. I just can't throw more good money at more incompatible blank media.

Thanks for any tips. I know Verbatim, TDK, Sony come well-recommended for low error rates but I'm a little gun shy to experiment any further without a better understanding of BD blank media.

    Bill

    Hi,

    Many thanks hbootz !
I believe the same things as you, and I've tried with three SSD... With a cloning methode.
At the end, I've started from zero and reinstalled windows7-64.
Everything was really good... Until the last drivers and HP support app update.

Conclusion : one (or more of one) af my drivers or HP support is bad for my system.

Many thanks schoko, I'll try your solution with each driver. (shame on me : I've not created a restore system point before updating all drivers !)

And many thanks Rosse, I'll try to uninstall the HP assistant app and reinstall oe old version.

    I'll be back ! ;-)

All the best for all !

Just to clarify - it was the HP Power Assistance application I had the problem with and uninstalled - I am still using HP Support Assistant.

Ie the battery monitor that comes up when you press Fn F8. Now I've removed the app it goes back to the Windows Power Options which was fine with me.

Guys, it seems HP is finally having the backlit keyboard for the 8560w available !!
At least the german version of the backlit keyboard can now be ordered in the HP parts store.

Those of you interested in buying a blacklit keyboard should check if the other language versions are also available.

Hello. It is me again. I have tested all four kingston 1600MHz ram modules one by one in may hp 8560w and they all runs at 1333 insted od 1600MHz. My laptop is : hp 8560w, 2820qm, 128GB Kingston SSD, 16GB Kingston 1600MHz ram (4x4G). I searched obout that ram and it says it must be at 1,5V and they are, but frequency is 667Mhz(1333 in dual) and 8-8-8-23. What should I do to run tis rams at 1600MHz. I know there is no such difference in performance, but I'm just not satisfied with that.
    Thanks in advanced.

I think that RAM frequency is blocked in BIOS. So until new BIOS will be released there is no chance to run it more than 1333Mhz.

I'm planning on contacting HP to replace several things on my unit.

-My power cable disconnect quite easy, the plug on my unit gives a bad connection half of the time. The power cable is no longer firmly in place in the plug, it's almost as wobbly as a joystick.

-When my unit is closed, there is a 1mm gap between the body and the screen.

-My dreamcolor display has a slight greenish tint in the left corner, and back light bleeding on the top of the screen. I know that there were other threads with people having the same issues, but I can't find those back. Any help here?

And yes, it appears that the backlit keyboards from different regions are finally making it to the partlists!

    Received my backlit keyboard today!!

    Beautiful ! That´s all i can say. :p :p :p

Installing the keyboard was quite easy. All you have to look out for is how the cables are put into the zif-connector.

To see how it´s done right i can give you the advice to watch the repair videos over at hp :
Customer Self-Repair Steps (videos/animations) - HP Business Support Center

there is a keyboard replacement video that shows how you insert the cables correctly into the zif-conectors.

damn, the 8760w uses a different keyboard?? the ordering numbers are at least different. the backlight one for the 8760w is still not available...

@schoko: woul'd you be so nice and take a photo of the keyboard, the one without backlight will be sufficient to see where the differences are.

please don´t mind the bad quality of the pictures. the picures were shot with a mobilephone cam. the bad pictures i took don´t do the keyboard justice.

Thank you very much schoko... unfortunately my question was very unprecise, I meant the underside of the keyboard to see if there are any differences between 7860w and 8560w... but not that important...

€117 ist mir dann doch ein bißchen zu teuer ;)

Hey guys, could anybody confirm for me that this is a Texas Instruments Firewire Chipset?

Also, I don't suppose there is any chance anyone would quickly run a DPC latency check and up some screens is there?

DPC Latency Checker <-- download - no installer.

I'm looking to buy this laptop and this information is pretty important for music production. Thanks for any help!

I have checked dpc - latency after the clean install and i guess that´s a good opportunity to check again if any of the drivers i have installed is faulty.

Looks good for my notebook :

I guess it´s safe to say the notebook is very capable of producing music.

here´s a stress test that might interest you :the test was done on a 8560w with 512 audiotracks.

edit : i have just checked... the firewirecontroller is a JMicron JMB380 PCI-E 1394a OHCI FireWire Controller and Memory Card Host Controller

    Hi Shoko!

Thanks for sharing, looks good. Just a couple of questions. You haven't experienced any problems with groundloops in your Fireface? Some claim
all PC laptops are suffering from poor grounding resulting in groundloop hum in the audio interface out when connected to fw-port. No problems with that?

Also, I'm curious to know what disk you used to run 512 simultaneous audio tracks.

    Thanks,
    Bauer

sorry , if you got me wrong, but i don´t produce music, i am an architect and i mainly use the machine for my 3d-designs, photoshop and illustrator work and producing web content ( Html and Flash) for e-learning.

the video i posted is not from me, i saw it a while back, so i just thought it would be interesting for you to see what the machine is capable of.

My mistake, jumped to conclusions. Thanks anyway! But, is there anyone using a 8560W for multitrack recording via FireWire? According to RME, the
JMicron FW chipset is the worst possible one, useless for anything but connecting harddrives, and even then it's exceptionally slow. All according to some tech guru at RME. Too bad, or anyone out there disagrees?

I would say the RME technician meant the older chipset versions not running on pci-e. This one works quite fine for me, although I'm not demanding lowest latency's and not using more than 4 tracks...
Also a Expresscard - Firewire controller makes no real sense on the 8x60w because that will block the 2 USB3.0 ports.
Have no idea what FW-controller Dell uses on its Mx600 workstations....

    What interface do you use?

I am using KORG ZERO 4 FW audio interface without any problem, dont push it to the limit though, but my latency is something like 2ms when I use traktor, and is about 20 when I use NI Maschine for producing. Can say more since I am still a beginner.

I seem to have a problem with installing 16Gb in this notebook. Up to 12Gb works fine [3x4Gb], but 16Gb [4x4Gb] gives errors in Memtest [Both versions]. I have tried different slots for all Dimms as well as I tested them all seperatly, tried different brands too. They are fine, just 4x4Gb won't work. Anyone got an Idea as to what I am doing wrong?

    Current Notebook:
    HP Elitebook 8560W, i7-2630QM, NVidia Quadro 1000M, M4 128Gb, 12Gb

    Hi Schoco,

    you're luky !
There's no French HP parts store with the french version 652683-51...
The french HP parts store can't see this part number available...

Do you know if a german HP part store could sell it to me ?

    All the best for you.

    Hi Friends,
Very helpful forum here. I am still amazed at the speed and quality of this machine. A couple of questions about power.
My original power adapter is slightly smaller than the laptop itself. I don't enjoy carrying two laptop cases for one laptop. Just kidding, but seriously, it's huge. So I bought another one - the HP slim adapter that has a usb port on it as well. It's rated at only 90w but seems to work perfectly, and it's SO small. Is that hurting or limiting my machine in some way?
Also - I need a docking station. I noticed the 8560w's have a different connector than the older machines, so I know i need specific models of docking stations, but what I don't understand are the wattage differences. There are docking stations that have 90w, 120w and 200w. I don't really care about features, any of them can do what I need. . . so does it matter?

Hi, I have installed 4x4Gb and it is working flawless, I would have said defect Mem-Module, but when you switched them and even tried different one, I think that something with your machine is wrong, maybe that the i7-2630qm is limiting in some way, I have an i7-2720qm. But otherwise, sorry I cannot help you anymore.
