Went ahead and flashed my Envy to the F.26A bios. All went fine, but was a little more anxious this time around because of the bricking stories. Everything seems fine so far.

What exactly are the benefits of the F.26A? The details on HP website are scant.

My Envy that I finally got this week came with F.1a

Not sure if this has anything to do with the bios but I've been having bluetooth problems with my mouse. Keeps getting disconnected somehow.

    Should I update?

I upgraydded (double D for double dose) to f.26 from f.24; gave me a little scare, the first boot up after installed seemed to hang. Holding down the power button and restarted and it fired back up. Seems good. Funny f.1a was what my original envy had and I don't seem to have ever seen that version posted on HP's site.

Does anyone else use a bluetooth mouse?

I've tried installing the bluetooth drivers on this page and repairing the mouse and changing synaptics drivers but nothing seems to work.

It will work sometimes for a few minutes then it just stops again and won't work again. It's driving me nuts.

did you install the synaptics driver and bluetooth driver in the envy driver thread after a clean install to get it to work? or are you just using the MS Generic bluetooth driver?

My system is a clean install yes. I am running the HP Integrated Bluetooth Module drives from the first page here.

Notice that a few of these HP .exe installers don't run the setup program automatically, they just uncompress the contents to C:\swsetup, if I recall correctly, this driver was one of them. I had to go the corresponding folder under C:\swsetup and run the actual setup.

Right. I've got it working a couple times for a while but then it disconnects and windows removes it from my devices list.

I'm going to go buy another mouse to see if it will work. If not I think I'll have to give HP a call..

My temps normally are 39-42° idle, 45-51° on normal use (internet and such) and around 60-70° when i'm gaming. [Never went above 74°]. I use the Zalman NC-2000 Notebook Cooler...

Hi! Thanks for the reply!! How about without the cooler?
I am running at high 40s or low 50s with my first gen i7 720QM Envy and using F19A, which made my laptop a lot warmer...how are those F26A? Did it help?

Uhmm.. not sure what to tell you. It sounds like a driver issue. There are a few instances (not many to bother) where my mouse has disconnected, I just turn it off and back on (using the switch on the back) and it re-connects fine after a couple of seconds. It doesn't happen that often. I use the mouse all day at work and take it home with me too. It's the battery on the mouse ok?

    @bigcat400

After I ran a clean install I installed the HP Bluetooth Module in this thread and the synaptics driver (ran both setup.exe from the corresponding swsetup folder).

Usually I'm able to use the mouse till the little light turns red. But that is the one thing i haven't tried. Charging the batteries now. Would be funny if that was the only thing wrong after all these hours trying to get it fixed hah

I had the F.18 BIOS before moving to the F.24 and i noticed my temps drop by a few good degrees. The F.26 BIOS had the same temps as the F.18 for me - So i'm sticking with the F.24

Updated the first post with the new BIOS and MediaSmart utilities. Currently investigating how MediaSmart 4 will turn out since they seem to be renaming/consolidating the names.

    05/06/2010
    • Updated BIOS to version F.26.
    • Updated HP MediaSmart Webcam to version 4.0.2626 (4.0 C1).
    • Added HP MediaSmart Photo version 4.0.3911 (4.0 A13).

You can try to install the latest version of QuickWeb that is available on the HP website. :)

    Version: 1.0.1.56 (24 Feb 2010)
Link: HP QuickWeb Software - HP Business Support Center

Based on looking at the description, it seems like it is an optional but useful tool to have. Is it worth putting up on the first post? :)

nothing. Just run the flasher as usual. I myself downgraded to f.18. As usual, flashing bios is at your own risk and you may brick your machine.

My bluetooth mouse update for anyone who's been following me..

From what I've read this is a specific problem with this mouse (MS bluetooth mouse 5000) and windows 7. basically, When it has been paired to a previous W7 install it gets confused. After messing with my bluetooth drivers so much I did more harm than good so I went ahead and ran another clean install of W7.

After setting everything back up I took the batteries out of the mouse for a good 30 minutes. Repaired the mouse (it actually took a few tries) then had to restart the machine a couple times. Each time it said that I needed to after pairing the device. It seems to be working pretty good now.

I don't think thats the right one, because Envy uses a different splashtop called envy IOS, unlike QuickWeb from other HP series. I'd be happy to upload the IOS but my upload rate is only 200kbs -.- If there is any other alternative , I will upload it

The 5830 core clocks did not change with the f 18 or any other BIOS updates. They have always been 500/800 max without OCing.

I had f.19 and had no change in core or memory speeds, they've always been 500/800 with all (6 I think) BIOS's Ive used. Never had f.1A but several others have it and no one has reported any GPU clock speed reductions AFAIK. Are you sure your not just reading a intermidiate clock speed, the 5830 constantly adjusts speeds based on demand, from 100/200 up to 500/800.... Which driver are you running?

1.06 Alpha. I have a screenshot back during the F. 19 A days that on GPU-Z it shows 405 and also on this current F. 1A that I have on my replacement. Either way on stock now they gipped 95 MHz off the clock.
