Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, these don't work either. :(

I tried several hp drivers myself and none worked.

I opened my laptop Envy 15 1000 CTO cleaned it and everything works properly except for one thing, the max reported energy getting is 15W instead of the normal 45W it should receive, therefore both TB and HT are severely crippled, having the multiplier stuck at 7x instead of the regular 12x, what can I do to solve this? it is rather urgent!!

That's true. And I did actually have 15.1.6.64 version installed already before. Why did it recommend an install again from Windows Update if it was already installed?

    • Updated Intel WiFi Link driver to version 13.4.0.139 for Windows Vista and version 13.4.0.9 for Windows 7 (thanks Rampant Speculation).

    12/04/2010
    • Updated Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to version 10.0.0.1046 (thanks Z3tor).

I wonder if the INF files between the two packages are different (might list different devices as compatible) - regardless, you shouldn't worry too much about the one offered on Windows Update.

    • Fixed the link to Atheros AR8131 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Controller driver (thanks warp_kez).

Thanks Z3tor for the following updates:

    12/25/2010
    • Updated Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller driver to version 2.0.30.0.
    • Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.0.1016.
    • Updated Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader driver to version 6.1.7600.30126.

Updated Renesas USB 3.0 driver and Intel Chipset Device Software packages are provided by GIGABYTE Technology this time around. The Intel Chipset Device Software adds further support to the upcoming Intel 6-series chipsets and 2011 Core processors, but it continues to support older generation chipsets as well. :) Please see the Important Information section regarding recommendations on how you should install this version, since it is packaged rather differently.

Apologies for not following protocol but I just found this thread while trying to update my USB 3.0 drivers and firmware. (Just installed a Blackmagic Designs Intensity Shuttle and was chagrined to find out my Envy 15, the only laptop certified to run this unit would crash whenever it tried to access it.) Anyway, there's an updated driver and firmware located at SONY/NEC firmwares Since I needed the firmware as well as the driver updates I thought I would pass it along here. Cheers

Thanks, but I don't link to Station-Drivers on the first post. The main reason being that it is an unofficial source for drivers. You can freely discuss these drivers, it's just that I won't post them up unless it is from a manufacturer or from an official source.

Due to installation issues that some people (including me) were experiencing, I removed the recent Intel chipset and RST updates as a precaution.

Check out the first post for yourself if you haven't done so. :)

    Hi Everyone,

I just want to say to the admin that his service in the envy 15 community has been excellent and I am grateful for having up to date drivers for my envy. I have been troubleshooting an issue with one of my drivers and I noticed that the intel sata driver has problems with 10-20 delays due to an ahci issue. I'm working on a resolution as it drives me fairly bonkers. I found a hotfix on microsofts site, but it is for microsoft's sata driver, not intel's. I am going to try uninstalling the intel driver and reverting back to the hotfixed sata driver to see if it goes away.

Here is my contribution to the community.

The video driver for the envy 15 1st generation system has not been updated in ages. I personally use ati's 10.6 driver. It is the ONLY one that doesn't crash on bootup from ATI. I don't know why all the newer drivers from ATI don't work with the envy but it is annoying. Anyway, 10.6 is very, very stable. I've been using it for many months. If you have a gen 2 laptop with the ati 5800 series, I believe you can use the drivers off of ati's site, although I may be wrong since I don't have that laptop.

Also, I successfully managed to remap all of my quick access keys. This was a major pain in the , but I really, really hated them. I remapped them to virtual desktop keys and now use them to switch virtual desktops. Much, much more useful for me. Anyway, I used Autohotkey and the following scancodes.

Here are some snippets of code from my autohotkey file. NOTE: It is very, very important to run AutoHotKey as an elevated user. Otherwise, elevated applications will lose the hotkeys. (Took me ages to figure that one out) I run Autohotkey in task scheduler as a "Highest Privilege" task with a delay of 1 minute so it can show up in the task bar.

    sc142::

Just (re-)posted some Intel updates. There are some important things that users should know about these updates, mentioned below.

    01/05/2011
    • Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.0.1021 (thanks Spyrus).
    • Updated Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to version 10.1.0.1008.

The Intel Chipset Device Software packages that have been recently released seem to be overwriting the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver should it be installed. I strongly advise that once Chipset Device Software finishes installing, that Intel Rapid Storage Technology be reinstalled.

However, recent versions of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology are also failing to reinstall using the interactive setup wizard, presumably due to the Intel Chipset Device Software update. If this problem is happening to you, try using the INF Install method: the ZIPs include the INF files necessary to manually update the Intel SATA/AHCI component through the Device Manager's Update Driver wizard. I have successfully updated mine using this procedure.

And that's cool. Like I said, I needed the latest driver version AND the firmware update to get a USB 3 device to operate properly. (I've never seen the BSD happen so fast in Win 7.) I didn't see the firmware anywhere so I shared. And yes, the Intensity Shuttle (The only USB 3 device I own at the moment) works great with the updates.
Haven't had a pressing reason to update the chipset or RST drivers.

Did that. That's how I got here. Honestly, I was going to PM you the info I had but I'm not a big user of forms so was unable to find the secret button. :)

Anyway, I've got the thread subscribed because what you have here is pretty darned useful. Thanks for taking the time.

When my notebook is idle it's have 65-70 C on CPU. Fan on the right side is always working. Noise is really irritating.

Look at your task manager and see if there's a process that's using up 100% CPU time. That's what usually causes problems like that.

I'm trying to figure out how to setup TV output and I am sure updating my 2nd gen Envy 15's would be a good idea as the ones on there are from wayyyy back. Anyway, since ATI/AMD now does the unfied driver could someone point me to a guide on the proper way to use the newer drivers? I wasn't clear on if I just download the main driver package of if I needed to download some other one that then allows me to install the current set.

Also if anyone knows of a guide on how to set up TV output I'd appreciate a link. Am trying to send video to my 52 " WS and when I connect via HDMI both the laptop and TV image switch to 640 x 480 and I need the resolution to be higher.

    Thx in advance

How old is your laptop? If it is as old as mine, I believe it is time to change the thermal paste. HP did a mess placing the original on mine. I did it better 1 year after the purchase.

I highly recommend Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste.

Hi, I tried to flash my bios, but I can't boot my laptop anymore. I also tried a bios recovery with no success. I tried to rename *.fd files but I can't find the proper name. Phoenix tool told me "D.bin" for 147D.fd and "BIN" for 7009.fd

Does someone have already succeed to recover the bios ?

Has anyone got a bios rev with a 1522.fd file ?

    F.1B for example

This is really great news! I'm thinking about buying the Shuttle, but was concerned about coming up with a USB 3 connection that can handle it. So far, only a handful of motherboards have been able to cut it. P55 or X58 series is required: Blackmagic Design: Support Detail. They also say "ExpressCards for notebooks are not supported and will not work." So the Envy would have to be the first laptop that actually works with the Shuttle.

So Marcie, is the Shuttle still working for you on the Envy? Any issues to report?

For you all 4830M users, as long as you stick with the drivers HP provides, you are fine. Apparently the 4830M is not really friendly with the official ATI-released Catalyst Drivers. Ironically, the 5830M can easily work with the ATI-released drivers but yet the 5830M remains an only HP-requested GPU.

Does using the official HP driver from this thread alleviate the black screen issues from booting on AC power? This is as opposed to using the catalyst mobility drivers from the AMD website

In the last week many of the keys on my HP Envy 15-1050NR have stopped working. I have always had problems pressing keys on the windows login screen so I am wondering if this is possibly a software issue. Anyone else noticed this? I thought I could update to the latest chipset driver but the link is broken..

I don't think that is a software issue, that is probably the keyboard connector failing.

Yes I already had that issue before. What you can do is to cut the connector of 1 millimeter, and it should work again.

Updated Intel wireless drivers now up, provided by HP.

    03/29/2011
    • Updated Intel WiFi Link driver to version 14.0.2.2 for Windows 7.

EDIT: Removed it because this version doesn't support the Intel WiFi Link 5100 and 5300 adapters.
