04/15/2011
- Updated links to Intel Chipset Device Software version 9.2.0.1025.
-
Just also realized that Atheros updated their link to a much newer version of the AR8131 driver. First post was edited to reflect this.

See this thread for details.... http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/574433-envy15-gen1-will-accept-new-11-4-drivers.html Thanks to seeratlas for the tip.
EDIT: It doesn't work for me anymore... -

I'm also having issues with it now as well. So it worked for two days and now I have blue screens all over the place... I'm sure its the drivers as well because all the blue screens refer to the secondary processor (i.e. the HD4830)
-
Ok, first of all I'd like to thank justinkw1 for such an amazing job writing and keeping up-to-date the info and links on this thread
!!
I bought an Envy 15-1100 cto (i7 720qm, 6gb ram, 500gb) 2 weeks ago, and since then I've been updating every driver, bios, firmware, or whatever I saw outdated.
Unfortunately, I'm having some trouble updating the Chicony/Bison webcam drivers (if that's the webcam I have on my nb).
The device manager says, (under "Imaging Devices") "HP Webcam", and if I doubleclick on it, it says sth about MS 2006 drivers. Certainly I don't think those are the right ones.
I've downloaded both the old 1.6.0.0 and 1.9.0.0 drivers, and none of them seem to change anything.
I wouldn't care if the webcam did well, but it doesn't. Image is pale-blue, despite any change on the video setting sliders. I know thats a known issue, but I'm pretty sure that a driver update could, at least, improve this.
Hope sb can help me, I'm about to rip off the webcam with a knife (just kidding)
Thanks in advance.
Mariano.
PS: This is my first post, and I'm from Argentina, so excuse my bad english -
New driver for "HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor".

07/23/2011
- Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.0.1031.
If you apply this update using -overall flag, you will need to reinstall the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver (see the first post for more information). This is a relatively minor update, so I would not bother installing this if you had already applied package version 9.2.0.1030. -
Minor software update now up for ProtectSmart / 3D DriveGuard:
07/25/2011
- Updated HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor to version 4.2.2.1 (driver) / 4.1.10.1 (software).

Whoa, the links with ftp.hp (from HP's site) don't work anymore. "Permission denied" error. HP locked their FTP?

- Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.2.1034.
This is a minor update - so if you already installed package version 9.2.0.1030 or 9.2.0.1031, this isn't necessary.
-
Quite a few updates to the first post. Check them out:
08/19/2011
- Updated links to Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller driver version 2.1.19.0.

- Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.3.11.0.
- Updated Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth driver package to version 6.5.0.2000.
The current Renesas USB 3.0 driver is now directly linked from HP (it's the same version as the one that Intel provided).
There is a txt file with detailed release notes located within the Synaptics TouchPad 15.3.11.0 package.
Also note that Broadcom Bluetooth driver component versions may differ from the package's version number. -

- Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.3.12.1.

ENVY 15T-1100 here. Updated to all the latest drivers, bios no problems. Make sure to uncheck "My Wifi" feature when installing intel wifi software package (not supported by 6200 AGN, screws up driver). also installed latest Catalyst Mobility package (11.8) no problem.
-
Did anyone ever manage to source a driver setup which allows this laptop to use OPENGL with the 4830HD? It's a damned embarrassment to HP the issues with this laptop out of the box, I'm not surprised they are leaving the hardware game.
-
Totally agree. This is a cry for help! Please, anyone with the HD 4830 who's managed to install the newest drivers, please help!!!
-
I found an update for the Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 driver version 2.1.25.0 (from Intel's website):
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3282&DwnldID=19880&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+6+Series+Chipset+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Board+DH67BL&lang=eng
Also here is the latest firmware for the Host Controller - This fixed a lot of speed issues I've been having with some external hard drives:
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/nec.htm
1) Download the "Firmware Version 3.0.2.8.0.8 & 4.0.1.5.0.2" file.
2) [After extraction] DO NOT run the "uPD720200_uPD720200A_FW_Updater.exe" program!!! Instead run (as administrator) the "upd720200.cmd" file directly from the "uPD720200_uPD720200A_FW_Updater" directory.
2a) Make sure which controller model you have (upd720200 OR upd720200a) and run the appropriate .cmd (I have the upd720200)
3) Wait until it finishes and then restart computer for changes to take effect. -
Thanks abat119 - I added the updated driver to the first post.
09/24/2011
- Updated Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller driver to version 2.1.25.0.
-
That seems a bit risky, does it not? How can you find out what controller you've got? -
My advice is that if you don't have any problems then don't update the firmware. I did because I had few new USB 3.0 devices that weren't working properly (randomly disconnecting and slow speeds) - This firmware update fixed those issues. -
-
I think the HP-supplied drivers have been the only packages to have worked on the 4830, to this very day. They should have OpenGL support...even if they are extremely outdated. -
I can't get these ATI drivers to work with the HD4830. I'm pretty sure the only thing stopping these reference drivers working is in the inf files, but tinkering with them have got me nowhere. Haven't tried 10.9 yet but i am not hopeful... It's a shame cos this is a great laptop otherwise.
-
A couple Intel updates:
10/06/2011
- Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.3.1022.
- Updated Intel WiFi Link Driver (and software) to version 14.2.0.10.
The updated Intel Chipset Device Software package does not include new drivers for this notebook, so no need to apply if you have already done it before with a previous release. -
I got Catalyst 10.8, driver ver. 8.762 working. Follow my thread
update: ATI 11.9 Driver 8.890.0.0 works -
I extracted the files and ran upd720200.cmd as Administrator and it flashed (upgraded from 3023 to 3028 for my 2nd gen -- as shown in the "USB 3.0 Host Controller Information" application that installs with the drivers). I read that running it for the wrong chip will NOT brick it; if it sees the wrong chip it supposedly will not attempt to flash.
I'm hoping this finally fixes the issue of my USB 3.0 ports disappearing from device manager. I can't pinpoint exactly what situations cause it, but it is incredibly annoying to have to reboot to regain usability of 2 of the 3 usb ports! -
trying hd 4830 drivers i hope it works
-
latest video drivers working thanks to wild05kid
-
10/16/2011
- Updated Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth driver package to version 6.5.0.2100.
Please note that the Broadcom Bluetooth version 6.5 packages will, without your permission, install bloatware into the following directory - C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\EasyBits Games. You can safely remove the EasyBits Games folder and then run a registry scan (using third-party software) to remove any other evidence of EasyBits on your system.
Actual Broadcom Bluetooth driver components will have driver version numbers that will differ from the package version (which is 6.5.0.2100). However, the driver components should have a version number with the format of 6.5.X.XXXX, where X is a number.

This driver update is only for the ENVY 15-11XX / ENVY 15-12XX models equipped with an Intel Core i7 processor. -
It might be worth noting that many ATI 4830 users have had luck updating drivers via this thread's instructions:
