    I updated to F19A yesterday and when I logged into World of Warcraft my fps had gone from vsync (60, but in reality it should be around 80-90 where I logged off) to 27-30. The fan also sounded wierd.

    Luckily it went back to normal after flashing it with F18A.

    F.19A also causes instability with previously, decent overclocks figures. Stick with F.18A. Also, I do suggest keeping a F.18A BIOS copy around as a backup.

    That page has me just a tad confused. Do we need to download that mobility link as well as the main driver or is that for adding support for older GPU's than what our Envy's have and we only need the main link

    I'm aware of a bunch of new drivers that need to go up on the original post at this point. However, due to my busy schedule consisting of studying, sleeping, and final exams, the next update will be this weekend.

    I'm aware of the following new drivers, including those that hyunf and lovegl had mentioned:

    • HP MediaSmart Live TV, version 3.1.2206
    • HP MediaSmart DVD, version 3.1.3719
    • HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology, version 6.2.1.1100
    • Synaptics TouchPad, version 15.0.9.0
    • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830/5830, version 8.712.0.0 (WHQL verification pending?)

    I highly encourage users who are knowledgeable about the problems that users are having here to help out. :) Also, if you find any other drivers that I may have missed, please mention them here.

    I downloaded the above mention 10.3 driver from AMD and decided not to install it because it is not signed and it does not give a version number. Since I am already running the original 10.3 preview that is unsigned I am going to wait for the WHQL version on the 24th.

    Yes but does it show as digitally signed in device manager ??

    The download I did said it was not signed which I believe is what is causing me problems with the OpenGL features in photoshop.

    You need to go past that screen to see if it is signed; click the 'update driver' > 'Browse computer' > 'let me select from list' and then highlight the 5800 series driver, the screen looks like this;

    Capture.PNG

    Once you highlight the 5800 it will show (where I highlighted mine) whether it 'has an authenticode' (like mine) or it will say it is 'digitally signed'. (just cancel when done and no changes will be made)

    It is definately a different driver than the 1st 10.3 preview which installed version 8.710.3.0 on my system.

    Right, not up just yet.

    I'll take a look at the new ATI graphics driver later -- just need to make sure it is WHQL certified. I added it to the list of what I need to update. :)

    Thank you very much for checking on that. tried to give you rep but says I need to spread some around first...

    I downloaded and installed the AMD version of the 10.3 driver. As 'Yejun' posted above it is digitally signed which is good news if you use Photoshop CS4, it now recognizes the GPU and allows you to activate and use the OpenGL features :D (did not work on the 10.3 preview version as it was not signed)

    Now the bad news, no benchmark improvement: 3Dmark06 scores are lower and my highest stable O.C. settings are lower. Default settings, (no OC) 7,980 vs. 8,050 (with 10.2 and 10.3 preview), Max OC now 625 / 1125 vs. 633 / 1133, not a lot of difference but scores dropped about 120pts. 10,150 vs 10270.

    Since Adobe seems to work with all features now I'm going to keep using the new version and see if I find any other glitches or problems. The final WHQL version is supposed to be out 3/24/10 from AMD, read the article in the link on the previous page for more info on gaming improvements.

    It also appears that the Hydra vision tab in CCC has dissapeared even though the ATI install mng. says it is installed. Anyone else have the same thing ??

    FYI: New AMD 10.3 version (link on last page) is Driver version 8.712.0.0 [3/02/10] digitally signed. The 10.3 Preview driver version is 8.710.3.0 [2/05/10] not signed.

    And those who have, can please check if Flash 10.1 is working or is that a separate thing?

    If you have hardware video acceleration enabled it corrupts the video. Not a huge thing IMHO... I'd rather have the performance in the games than worry about flash vid acceleration. Video acceleration works fine otherwise.

    Serg;

    You may want to check this 10.3 thread out. They say to just install the mobility driver only and then install the desktop CCC to get full features.

    It's only 3 pages long;

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=468479

    I lost some features in CCC (hydravison) when installing the full 10.3a mobility version and am now trying to decide if I need to uninstall CCC or just overwrite it with the desktop CCC.......

    One thing though, what would be really nice is a single download. EG. for the HP envy 1050nr ;)

    With all the troubles your having I think you should try removing all of the AMD / ATI programs and drivers and start from scratch. Just make sure you have access to reinstall (download) the driver that is currently working for you (just in case).

    Revo will not work to get rid of all the ATI stuff, you need to use the ATI install managers uninstall mode and then run 'driver sweeper' and get back to just the MS VGA driver. You may need to manually uninstall older ATI drivers from device manager or they will keep automatically reloading when you reboot if they are still in the system.

    To see what dirvers are installed (other than the one your using) go to Device manager > Dispaly adapter > ATI mobility...right click > properties > Driver tab > Update driver button > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from list ..... > Check the 'show compatibale hardware' box... This shows you all the ATI drivers you will need to uninstall and then re-run driversweeper. Not really as bad as it sounds :)

    After that you should be able to download and run any of the new driver .exe packages and everything should work together properly.

    Driversweeper: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

    Suggest you read this thread (post 28 worked for me): http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=468479&page=3

    Hope this helps, good luck.

    Lots of updates to the original post, including the ones that I had mentioned before. Added an updated USB 3.0 controller driver for good measure. :)

    03/20/2010
    • Updated MediaSmart Live TV to version 3.1.2206 (3.1 A9).
    • Updated HP Integrated Bluetooth Module driver to version 6.2.1.1100.
    • Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.0.9.0.
    • Updated NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller driver to version 1.0.18.0.
    • Updated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 / 5830 driver to version 8.712.0.0 (Catalyst 10.3).

    FYI: Went to update the "•Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.0.9.0" listed above and noticed 3 things;

    1) It only lists compatability with Win 7 32bit (no 64 bit)

    2) It does not have device ID SYNE1e24 listed (which is my envy 15 gen 2 touchpad device #).

    3) It just has the 'HP mini' listed as compatable models for update

    Not sure if any of this makes a difference but I chose not to try it until I can confirm that this update is compatable with the Envy 15 touchpad and 64 bit OS.

    1) The package also includes Windows Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64 drivers as well.

    2) SYN1E24 is listed in the driver INF (located inside synpd.inf).

    3) HP has only officially released this TouchPad driver for the HP Mini but it is compatible with almost all consumer HP/Compaq notebooks, again based on the INF. Their documentation only reflects what they officially support for the Mini (and is also the reason why they only list Windows 7 32-bit as supported).

    @justinkw1

    Thanks for clarifying my issues. Downloaded and installed, all seems to be working well. FYI: read below.

    I got the same message which has not occured before with touchpad drivers. Since I had 4 different versions (updates) installed, I uninstalled all of them. Good news, Win 7 automatically loaded a MS generic touchpad driver that allows you to use the pad with basic features until you get the new driver installed. But I did have to reset all my tweaks in the synaptics settings. So far so good, seems to sense 2 finger scroll a little better and looks like a couple of new options available.

    Note if you have more than 1 driver installed then win7 will rollback to the previous one after you uninstall, I did not try to load new one over a previous version I just kept uninstalling until I got to the MS generic driver.

    You also may want to check for functionality. Some of the other HP synaptic drivers do not enable all the functionality of the touchpad such as momentum and multiple touch areas. The basic stuff like scrolling and buttons should be fine but I noticed these differences when deviating from the official Envy Synaptics drivers. I have not tried the generic Swype drivers or Synaptic drivers but I suppose they should work fine.

    Windows uninstaller for the first go around look for 'synaptics' (Revo and CC cleaner did not work for some reason). Then go into device manager after rebooting and see if it reloaded an older synaptics driver, to remove this one use the uninstall button (below the update driver button) and make sure and check the box to "delete from computer"(says something like that). Reboot and repeat until it is running the MS driver. I had 4 old versions I removed....

    Read this thread on the 10.3 driver; http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=468479

    My guess is you will need to uninstall all ATI / AMD drivers and software and then install the new 10.3 package. Above thread has info on how to do this properly.

    Your post really does not tell anyone what your specific problems are so it is difficult to try and help.....

    Intel released 9.6 rapid storage technology drivers. The documentation seems to indicate that TRIM is now passed to RAID0 setups. This is automatic TRIM. The toolboox still does not appear to support manual TRIM. I haven't tried them yet. I am not sure whether we can install directly from intel, or we should wait for a softpak from HP.

    Even after uninstalling everything and using driversweeper? Are you sure your running the Win 7 'Mobility' version for the 10.3 driver and not the desktop version? Maybe you need to run as Administrator ?

    Again without details as to what specific errors or problems you are having no one can really try to help you out, we can only guess....

    Okay, I still have the old previews installed. If I'm understanding everyone correctly I need to:
    1. download both the regular desktop set and the tiny mobility set.
    2. First using add/remove programs completely remove ATI
    3. Run the mobility driver install
    4. Then do I just run the desktop set normally or in custom mode and desect the driver?

    I'd wait til the 24th when the final release is due out. There is an issue with the 10.3a version, the new CCC does not have any options to control the Avivo or Hydravision settings.

    Here is a link to the 10.3a driver thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=468479
