new webcam driver doesnt seem to fix the purple image

It's because it is.
See the new HP Envy 15-1200 support page, which is where you'll also find some of these new driver updates -
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=4190672&
The ATI Catalyst 10.3 driver does not include the HDMI driver from what I observed. It is better to use the packages provided by HP, since they most likely do contain a compatible HDMI driver. -
Oh darn, I just bought my envy 15 (albeit with a $450 discount). I wonder whether it's worth cancelling my order.
I hope the update is minimal
I hate buying just at the wrong time.
-
It looks like the new evny's special ability might be the ati 5730.... If they sell it at a lower price and nearly the same price as the dell studio xps....They could sell tons

Have anyone fresh install win 7 ultimate on Envy15/i540/ATI5830 GPU/ 4GB RAM/7200rpm 320GB?
My model is 15t-1100.
I hook my external DVD with win-7 disc(which I made from the win7 ISO) to eATA port.
It doesn't go to win setup even when it boots to Windows Home.
Is there any command I need to press?
Thanks for your help in advance. -

Did you try F9 while it's booting with the disc in the external drive? -
I too have this problem. Im starting to think its hardware and not software related.

Anyone having problems with the new IDT audio drivers?
I installed them and noticed the equalization settings were missing from the Beats control panel. Now i also get no sound when playing Dragon Age, but windows system sound work fine. I uninstalled and went back to the old drivers and the settings are STILL missing and still no sound with dragon age.
When i go to the windows default driver sound works from dragon age.
Also to note when i do the test in the beats control panel i get no sound.
Anyone experience this? -
What's the difference between the current envy 15 and this next refresh?
-
No issues here. Try to clean the registry before install.
-
Weird. The equalization settings are completely gone from the Beats control panel. I got sound working again in Dragon Age though. I went to the DA configure utility and it said there was a audio driver enhancement causing a problem. would you like to disable? i clicked yes and boom sound again in the game. This is very strange.
-
I had a similar problem with Borderlands. With headphones plugged in, the sounds sometimes comes out of the main speakers instead. Unplugging and replugging the headphones sometimes works, but sometimes sound gets disabled completely, with the audio service stopping. Never happens with Modern Warfare 2, so it's most likely a game issue, in my case at least.

I just read about a new Support link on the HP site for model 15t-1200 that has drivers for Win7 64/32
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=4063&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=4190672&lang=en -
Thanks, I can able to boot to the disc now. I will try to install that.

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I think they are going to downgrade the base specs of the Envy 15 to compete against Dell's XPS 1630 and Lenovo's Ideapad Y560. To be honest, I don't think the Gen 3 will have any significant changes on the higher range, since the 5830 remains unchanged from the Gen 2. -
Install the IDT version 6.10.6249.0, newer doesnt enhance anything
-
I'm running 6.10.6263.0 and everything works great and it comes with a multi colored EQ graphics and allows you to change the contol panel graphics colors... As far as useful features there are no differences that I can see...

A new synaptics driver is found on the 1200 link
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=4063&product=4190672
15.0.3.0. Seems like it fixed the tap enable/disbale zone. I like so far. -
I think this is an older version of the driver as the latest on the first page on this thread has the number 15.0.13.0 attached to it. Also the HP package number is lower. SP47792 vs. SP48051.
-
I installed the latest IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver from HP's website but it doesn't work at all on my unit. No sound and apps like Winamp report a bad directsound driver. i had to uninstall it from device manager and let windows install its own driver to get sound output working again. It shows up in device manager as High Definition Audio Driver now. What am I missing if I don't use the IDT driver..?
-
Clean your registry before install new driver.
-
Installing it over the one on the front page gives a "trying to install an older driver" error or something like that. However, HP released 47792 on April 16, while SP48051 in March.
double-tapping to enable/disable the touchpad works again with the new/old driver (SP47792) yay. -
Thank you for that. I will try the new/old driver immediatly then
How's the general feeling of the touchpad with this driver?
The SP**** numbers must not have anything to do with releasedate then. -
The latest Synaptics driver posted here doesn't include the Envy as a supported model which may explain why some functionality is disabled while the older drivers are Envy specific.
-
Actually it has nothing to do with the envy being listed as a 'supported' model. It has do do with the specific device ID number for the touchpad itself which you can find in device manager > porperties (for touchpad) > details tab. Mine is SYN1E024 and I beleive older envy's have SYN1E018 or SYN1E0, as long as your device ID is listed for new drivers then it should be fully supported.

First of all I have to say "thanks" to Justin for the incredible tool he's given us here. It was invaluable to me today! I updated the Intel Chipset Drivers and the USB 3 driver. I am, however, curious about one thing and haven't been able to locate any information about it here in the thread. Justin deleted the Intel Turbo Boos Technology Driver on April 3rd 2010. I have it installed on my system and had it been available I would have updated it as well. Can anyone tell me why it was taken down?

@Green Lantern
I don't think the TBT was ever listed here. You can download version 1.0.1.1002 directly from the HP envy 15 'drivers' page if that is more recent than the one your running now. -
Apparently it was listed. If you go to page one and scroll nearly to the bottom there is a list of all the additions and deletions that were made. On April 3rd he notes the deletion of TBT. Otherwise I did check the version at the HP site and I had the same one. Was looking for something newer. Thanks.

TBT driver is just a Gadget. Useless
-
I hate ITB because it stops working even if you goto battery mode for one second and won't come back until you reset.
-
To my knowledge if you don't have the Turbo boost tech driver then your CPU will not hit the maximum clock speeds when on just 1 core. It is also supposed to manage the 'turbo' speeds between threads when using multiple cores. I believe you are refering to the Turbo boost technology monitor which is just a gadget that comes with the install of the driver. Without the driver installed your CPU will not perform to it's full capabilities.
@bshaun
I have not noticed that issue with the i5 CPU, battery to AC to battery etc. and the 'turbo' always seems to work correctly. Unless you are refering to the 'gadget' as bigspin is above, If the driver was not working then you would be running at 1.6 Ghz max -
It's W7 gadget. (Google might help). I'm testing single thread application without TBT driver. let you know if it's not hitting max.
-
Let me clarify. The TBT Driver is a required part of the icore CPU's to make them work properly. You are mixing it up with the ' TBT moinitor' which is a gadget. I'm sure you have the 'TBT Driver' installed on your system already as it comes as part of the chipset driver package. You should find it listed in device manager (this is not the little visual 'bar graph' desktop gadget) here:
The 'Driver' is just installed and running with no controls, you cannot just turn it on or off except with an application like 'realtemp' or other 3rd party application. -
No driver is installed (Coz I clean installed the system last week). I tried to install yesterday night and it gives me an error saying not compatibleness.
Checked with CPU-Z and it shows clock speeds going upto 2.796 (2.8)
-
@JJB I do have driver installed and it works as long as its working on AC Power but if it goes to battery the processor is locked at 1.6Ghz and Turbo won't kick in unless I restart.
-
I think you need to adjust your power plan on battery to make the processor min/max state 100%- on battery. Do that then test it.
Also, you need to remember that HP locked the multiplier of the laptop to 9X while on batteries. So no matter what you do(on battery) you will not get full blast CPU power. -
- Running on High Performance Plan (Win 7 Ultimate x64)
- I understand performance will not max out at battery
But the problem that I face is that once I goto battery and than get back to AC Power the Turbo would still not work unless I restart the system and stay on AC Power. -
OK I see what you are saying now. I do remember reading numerous users experiencing the same issues with Turbo boost not kicking back to normal after being switched to AC power. Which explains why the turbo boost driver was pulled from the drivers thread. Do you have the latest driver installed from HP website?

FYI: BIOS recovery issue update
I found out that the BIOS recovery option does not work do to the fact that the HP service paq BIOS links are in a .exe format that must install (flash) after the current BIOS posts. Since when your machine fails to flash sucessfully (bricks) you no longer can get the old BIOS to post, so there is no way the InsydeH20 'BIOS recovery' can work. The tech who figured this out is going to escalate an 'emergency' fix request to the software lead so they can provide a non .exe format download for recovery if needed, they called this a 'pre-post flash' which should at least allow a recovery without having to send in your machine. Won't help me for now but hopefully will prevent this from happening in the future....
Not that this should even be needed if the frickin HP software guys could write a stable BIOS...GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Also here is a link (if it works) to an HP 'product repair form' that they sent me to fill out and include with my computer when I return it for repairs. The tech recommended to send 2 copies, one in the box and the 2nd taped right to the computer with a post-it note saying "please leave attached for service tech", it allows you to put specific instructions for the repair tech, who knows if it will work but it can't hurt.... https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&...ttd&zw&sig=AHIEtbTnYMpo7vY99Bv5_AM8gkutbqQZ9A -
Yeps the latest driver and it works fantastic as long as I am on AC Power constantly any switch even for a second would make it stop until next reset.
-
Well all I can figure is that the i5's have a seperate TBT driver that installs with the intel chipset driver. I have done 3 clean installs on i5 envy's now and they all show the TBT driver in device manager with no option available in any app (windows, Revo, CC cleaner etc.) to uninstall it. Maybe that is why all the i7 machines seem to not be able to install the driver and maybe why it was pulled. I do have the seperate TBT monitor 'gadget' and it is a seperate item I installed from intel, I can uninstall it without any effect on the TBT driver listed in device manager....
The TBT driver update that was listed here did install and update the driver version on my i5 machine (I actually D/L it direct from intels site). -
Can you please confirm if you show the TBT driver in device manager that I highlighted in the screenshot on the previous page?
I just noticed that you have the 720Q, which according to 'bigspin' does not show a TBT driver in his device manager after a clean install.... My above post may not be correct regarding the guess about it being for the i5's only
Unless he possibly did not load the actually intel chipset driver package and is running the Windows generic chipset drivers....???
-
I can also confirm that I did not have the TBT driver installed on my Q820 after a clean install and I was also not able to install the driver when I downloaded it.
-
Yes it shows in device manager.
-
The TBT driver isn't listed in my device manager either
-
I don't have a TBT driver listed in device manager either
-
IIRC you updated with the Intel chipset driver from pg 1 here. So far it seems most of the i5's have the TBT driver and all the i7's (except bashaun) do not have it
I really don't think it matters if the CPU is performing correctly, just curious why it seems to not be installed in all machines, my i5's only theory does not seem correct.
EDIT: Just a thought; Did all of you who don't see the TBT driver use the 'view' > 'show hidden devices' option in device manager ? -
I am showing hidden devices. I do show a TurboBoost.exe process running in task manager, and it runs from C:\Program Files\Intel\TurboBoost. I don't know if this is the same thing. I can't recall whether I installed this manually or not. I probably did. I definitely do not have anything in device manager.
-
Has anyone been able to install the latest "Intel SSD Toolbox" on a Gen1 drive and confirm it working (At least some of the functionality)? I already tried to use the firmware update tool without success, even after I unraided the drives.
