If you're still interested in running on the latest RST driver, you will need to use the INF Install method outlined in the first post. This means that you will have to first install the driver within the Device Manager using the INF file, and then run the RST setup utility so that the configuration software can be properly installed.
Did you try using the Driver + Software link?

Also, before I updated the chipset driver from your first post, I had already installed the latest RST driver from your first post and it worked fine and would probably work fine now without running the INF method, but since there doesnt seem to be a pressing need to use the latest driver then Ill see how keeping the current official HP ones goes. -

yeah seriously why are drivers that are clearly not supported for our specific notebook models being posted? this isn't the first time. I have to check the html file every time to make sure envy 15 is listed.
-
Some drivers do not have the ENVY 15 or ENVY 17 listed in their HTML or CVA files, but they will work despite not being mentioned. I can usually tell from the extracted INF files as to whether the drivers are supported or not. -
Justinkw1 sorry about my post I do appreciate what you are doing here
anyway the new lan driver fixed my issue using jumbo packet over gigabit so happy!! with the previous lan driver using jumbo packet, I was actually slower on my gigabit network. Now im getting 80MB read/write speedsDD

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to thank the OP for their hard work - i've just got my Envy 17 and this thread has been an invaluable resource in setting it up after doing a clean install on my SSD and I really appreciate it
Also I wanted to offer my experiences on an issue that came up during install for me. After installing the HP Quick Launch software and HP On screen display/notifications software, I found that my beats audio volume slider was working but the beats audio button itself was not working.
I've just now installed the HP Support Assistant in order to install the HP Coolsense software and somehow the Beats Audio button is now working (bringing up the beats audio control panel). So I'm guessing that one of these two programs is required to make this function work?
Hope this helps anyone else in a similar situation! Also I was stumped about coolsense not installing till I read further down the thread that this needed the HP Support Assistant to work, maybe this could be added to Coolsense download link on the first page? -
Found a Maintenance and Service manual for anyone interested.

I've been having problems with my Envy 17 3D and my AStone USB 3.0 dual hard drive external dock hanging during a large file transfer. I've found updated firmware for the Renesas USB 3.0 host controllers at this site:
RENESAS/NEC Drivers & Firmwares
I used the firmware package "3.0.2.8.0.8 & 4.0.1.5.0.2" dated 20/8/11. The Windows updater included in the package won't work as there are two USB 3.0 host controllers in the Envy 17 3D. A manual command prompt flash is required and here is a good guide to manually flashing the ROMs:
Pete's Blog: Flashing a NEC/RENESAS USB 3.0 uPD720200/uPD720200A firmware
Use the W200FW35.exe /? for the command list & syntax. Use "/srom ?" to determine the host addresses - in my case, the host PCI addresses were 11-00-00 and 12-00-00. Then use the "/address XX-XX-XX" switch to specify each USB 3.0 host. E.g:
W200FW35.exe /srom 0 /address 11-00-00 /write F401502.MEM cfg.ini -
Thank you and cheers -
For those of us with Envy 17-3XXX I called and got an answer from HP on why the firmware was pulled (f.07). There was apparently a problem with language options in the firmware that affected languages other than English? Either way, I wanted to confirm with them that running f.07 was fine. There are no issues staying on f.07.

Regarding the "Broadcom 2070 / 20702 Bluetooth" drivers, does the note about the EasyBits Games folder still apply to installer version 6.5.1.2300 (6.5 K2), posted April 12, 2012? I installed it Windows 7 x64 system, and I've confirmed that there is no "EasyBits Games" folder (under C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software, nor anywhere on my hard disk). There are a few registry DWORD values named "EnabledEasyBits" scattered throughout the registry, including one under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\General", but they are the only seemingly related reference I can find on my system.
I'm curious if Broadcom removed the Easybits bloatware and forgot to clean up these registry remnants, or perhaps if they just hid it better, making it tougher to identify and remove. Anyone know? -

Hi all. I have a problem with my Beats Audio Control Panel. Some of the volume control labels are in Chinese. This is probably because i bought my HP Envy 15-3205TX in Hong Kong. I cannot find any way to change the language settings. I can change the computer's default language settings, but I have found no way to make those labels in the beats audio control panel display in English. I contacted HP and they said that I would have to get the driver from HP's US website. I am hesitant to do that though because my model (HP Envy 15-3205TX) is not listed on the US website and I don't know which model to select the drivers from. When I look at similar models to mine the audio driver is exactly the same as listed for my model on HP's Hong Kong website: Driver - IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver, even has the same file name: sp56900.exe. I'm assuming this is the driver I need to change as it is the only audio driver listed. I tried downloading that driver from the Hong Kong website but it didn't change anything. Those annoying labels are still in Chinese. Is it safe to download the driver for a similar model number from the US website and hope that it fixes my language problem?

I can confirm that on the 32xx envy the new 12.11 beta4 drivers for the AMD Radeon HD 7850m work well. Simply install over the HP stock drivers. An added bonus is that you get to see a full list of apps that you can set for the Intel 4xxx or AMD adapter depending on what your needs were. This capability is in the stock driver in a limited form but unstable. 3dmark tests on the 12.11 driver on the 32xx far surpass the results on the stock driver.

Same here.Installing on top of Windows 8 RTM results in a the display going black. The system stayes in this state even after rebooting. Had to abort the windows 8 boot process and then reboot again to get the windows 8 repair options. Then select advanced option to rewind back to the last restore point.
Also note that windows 8 will try to automatically update the AMD driver which also results in the display getting disabled and a black screen. I had to hide the AMD update to prevent the automatic updates.
