This might be somewhat unrelated, but that driver, 15.2.8 works heavenly on my tm2t. Most of these drivers work on the Touchsmart tm2t, so I've been watching this thread, and scrolling has never been more sensitive and smooth with that driver than any of the previous. This is coming from both an updated install and a clean install. Thought I'd throw that out there, not sure if its device specific.

Just noticed an update to Synaptics TouchPad driver (15.2.16.6) on HP ftp. This version seems to be working fine so far...

The INF shows that this version only supports certain business notebooks. This driver is not officially supported on the consumer models -- it must have loaded the INF's generic "fallback" entry.
I will wait until a version that has the proper INF strings becomes available. -
Realtek Wlan driver 2020.1.0311.2011 for Windows 7 and 1093.5.0223.2011 for Vista available.

I just gave em a try, and they work marvelously, lol. It has the latest interface from Synaptics, and coasting seems to mimic interial scrolling. Coasting is a hit and miss though with this somewhat, it coasts, but only if you sorta flick your scroll (that's how you'll really notice it, regular scrolling doesn't really make it as apparent.). BTW my device is the Touchsmart tm2t, a consumer model, not sure if that makes a difference.

I'm planning to do a clean install on my envy 14.
Is there any ORDER to which I have to install the drivers?
Also, how can I ensure I get working switchable graphics on my envy 14 with these drivers?
Thanks! -
There is no specific order in which you have to install the drivers. One way is to install from top to bottom (and skipping the ones that are not compatible with your notebook).
The AMD graphics drivers on the first post have switchable graphics support. -
I see, Thanks!
Also, I'm very anxious about installing the bios.
I just did a clean wipe of my envy 14 windows 7 ultimate x 64...is there anything I should worry about/ know/ prepare before installing the bios ?
I'm on .12 still and it seems that the newer versions have some power consumption (battery life) benefits. -
07/12/2011
- Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.3.1.4.
- Updated HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor to version 4.2.2.1 (driver) / 4.1.9.1 (software).

Just did a format of my Envy 14, and everything seems to work except the Intel Wifi driver. I open it up, I see the logo and green orbs circle it for a few seconds, then poof, nothing more, and the driver doesn't install. Suggestions, anyone?
Update: Tried the previous driver and it worked. Maybe the latest driver isn't quite ready for prime time. -
Minor software update for HP ProtectSmart / 3D DriveGuard:
07/25/2011
- Updated HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor to version 4.2.2.1 (driver) / 4.1.10.1 (software).
-
After installing a fresh copy of win7, are all the drivers posted here necessary for a fully functioning system? I've tried looking everywhere to find out exactly what drivers are needed for the hp envy 14 but it seems no one has made a precise list. I've reinstalled windows 7 a couple times now on this laptop and would like to finally install all of the right drivers then make a system image or some sort of slipstream for future installations.

nice z3tor... didn't think they'd ever push a new one... +rep

The INF file that's included shows that this is compatible with the dm4-2XXX but not with the dm4-1XXX series.
For those of you tracking the other driver threads, this package will work on the dv6-6XXX / dv7-6XXX and ENVY 14-2XXX. -
Confirmed: after installing this drivers on an Envy 14-1xxxx commutable graphics no longer work.
-
08/09/2011
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 6.10.6341.0.
-
08/10/2011
- Updated Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth driver package to version 6.5.0.1300.
This package includes a brand new setup wizard. Note that driver component version numbers may differ from the one mentioned above. -
Just got my Envy back from repair, where its motherboard was replaced. The BIOS version is now F.24. So, I guess, be on the lookout for a download link to that anywhere?
-
F.24 seems to be out there for a while, but so far only the support service seems to have it: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/564596-guys-my-envy-14-bios-f-24-a.html
I really wish HP to give some love to 1xxxx bios and solve some of the remaining annoyances (switcheable graphics option can be handy too!). -
Good to know that there is a newer ENVY 14-1XXX BIOS out there (just have to wait until HP releases it
).
I also wanted to point out something about the Broadcom Bluetooth driver update -- it seems that the setup wizard is installing some unnecessary software in the background that I didn't initially know about. Because of this shady tactic, I'm now thinking about removing the update from the first post.
metril found out about this -- for more information, see http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...v7-6xxx-envy-17-2xxx-intel-7.html#post7803612. -
08/13/2011
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 6.10.6351.0.

Mmm, the release notes did not say what fixes they introduced on this version...
-
08/17/2011
- Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.2.1034.
- Updated Intel HD Graphics driver to version 8.15.10.2476 (15.22.8[.64].2476) / 6.14.0.3074 (Audio).

I recommend that additional with update of AMD video graphic driver, everybody to install the latest "AMD Media Codec Package".
You can find it at: here AMD Graphics Drivers & Software ? Download the latest drivers for your graphics products
Choose:
Notebook Graphics,
Radeon HD Series,
Your graphic card model (Mobility Radeon HD 5xxx Series),
your operating system (Windows 7 64bit).
Push "Display results".
On this page go to "Optional Downloads" tab and press download of " AMD Media Codec Package" and install it. No PC restart need do be done after installing the Codec.
This codec will update the card driver and Gaining Performance with AMD APP technology.
For a better video conversion experience, AMD APP technology (upgraded from ATI Stream technology) offering improved video encoding/decoding performance (when processing high-definition videos in particular) for any computer running on AMD APP-enabled GPU. By processing video conversions on AMD APP instead of your computer's CPU, more CPU resources can be spared for other applications, making your computer run 5 time faster.
Conversion profiles that leverage AMD APP technology are clearly labeled; users can optionally enable GPU encoding/decoding acceleration once AMD graphics card with AMD APP technology has been detected.
If you want to make sure that AMD APP technology is working, install any software which is using AMD APP technology (ex: Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate 6).
Enjoy.Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -

No. You got it wrong. Check the driver .inf file(s) for correct version number. Or spXXXXX.cva line "VendorVersion".

What drivers do I need so the fn keys will work?
HP DM4 1060us
Like the dim/brighten the display, FF,Rewind, Play, Pause, Stop, volume, and wireless? -
You will need to install the HP Quick Launch Software. This should provide you with the ability to use the Fn key options.
-
On my DM4 they work without any special software or drivers...
-
Is there a way to download the BIOS automatically and safely? I've read too many horror stories of people messing up their machines due to mistakes; and some of them seemed to be highly-experienced based on their responses.
Also, do I need this: Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family Controller
In my uninstall/change program menu, it says I have Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver For Windows 7 I don't know if they are the same thing
Thank you very much
Well, some worked for me after a clean install. The mute button didn't light up red when I pressed it, and the screen brightness did nothing for me.

I saw this as version 7 on HP's website; it's still listed as version 6.5 on your list:
Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth software and driver, found it in HP DM4 1060us page

Also the update for SimplePass, which is version 7.0.74.0
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebo...otection-Validity-fingerprint-and/td-p/742013
I confirm that SimplePass 7.0.74.0 works with my DM4-1060us for windows log-in and [up to] firefox version 4. Others can vouch for it. -
The best way is to download and execute the Softpaq containing the BIOS image with admin privileges. Then just follow the steps to flash -- it should be pretty safe and automated.
Yes, this is required for your LAN (Ethernet) port to work properly.
The package version number is different from the driver component versions. Driver component versions are currently in the format: 6.5.X.XXXX - the package I have on the first post is newer than the one that HP is currently offering for your notebook. -
With which software I can be aware of what my drivers outdated?
I have hp envy beat edition (ENVY 14-1XXX) -
Also where i may to see changelogs of new versions drivers in this topic?
