Finally a BIOS update (F.27) available for dm4. It provides improved accuracy for the Windows system tray display of charge remaining in the battery. It still doesn't show correct backup time yet. But, battery care shows accurate discharge rate now while on battery. It didn't disable the advanced BIOS feature access by pressing 'A' while entering BIOS setup. I've tested it in my dm4-1210tx. Link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56001-56500/sp56058.exe

    IDT Driver problem:

IDT Driver 6.10.6370.0 and 6.10.6368.0 are for Folio13 that has only one 3.5 inch shared audio and mic jack. So this driver doesn't recognize external microphone. It fixed the stereo effect though.

6.10.6365.0 and older versions Beats and Dolby Home don't have stereo effect. If you go audio properties->advanced and press test button the sounds should play left and right channel separately, but it doesn't work well. You'll hear right channel while playing left channel and vice versa.

If anyone know the fix please reply.

    • Updated Atheros Wireless LAN driver to version 9.2.0.469.

I'm running 6.10.6368.0, and both the Sound and IDT Audio options show that an external microphone is available...

So you can use your external microphone? It shows both external/internal mic. Bt when I select external mic i hear no sound. (e.g Skype call). I've uninstalled 6.10.6370.0 and tried installing 6.10.6368.0 bt PC hangs after reboot. I had to restore PC. Please try recording some sound with 6.10.6368.0 driver or Skype call with external mic and confirm me that it's okay then i'll try it on a clean windows.

I've Checked IDT Driver 6.10.6368.0. External microphone option exists, but external microphone doesn't work. I am sure about that. IDT 6.10.6365.0 is the latest version that works with 2 X 2.3mm audio jack, though stereo effect doesn't work well before IDT 6.10.6368.0

IDT 6.10.6381.0 driver. Still 3.5" mic-in not working. Seems to work only with single shared 3.5" audio+mic port.

The latest IDT audio drivers have audio normalization turned on by default meaning the volume tweak detailed here will no longer work. Anyone notice any other changes?

    • Updated Intel Chipset Device Software, version 9.3.0.1020.
    • Updated Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver and software, version 11.1.0.1006.
    • Updated Intel WiFi Link driver, version 15.1.0.18 for Windows 7.

You do not have to install this Intel Chipset Device Software package if you have already applied a previously released v9.3.X.XXXX package.

As some of you may already know, mainstream support for Windows Vista ended on 4/10. As a result, I have decided that all future releases posted will mention support for Windows 7 but not for Vista; I will be phasing out support for Vista as I continue to post updates. Driver releases specific to Windows Vista will continue to remain however, for as long as they are current.

I will be adding Windows 8 support to many of the drivers here, especially as we get closer to the final version. The Release Candidate phase will undoubtedly be a great time to update these posts, in order to prepare for those of you wanting to run Windows 8 on a full-time basis. :)

Some members have encountered issues with the more recent Catalyst Mobility reference drivers; this is the reason for the roll back to 12.1. A precautionary message has also been added for the reference driver.

I am still having problem with installing the Graphics Driver. I had to do a clean install after my computer crashed and had to download one from the internet since I didn't had a recovery CD.

Can someone please help me, this is the only issue I'm having at the moment. I believe the OS is not a proper one which might be causing this problem.

Sorry for that, I should have been more clear. Found a copy which allowed me to enter the product key that I had on the laptop. With the graphics I used drivermax to get the drivers for it. Strange thing whenever i update it through windows it rolls it back to a previous driver in 2010. Currently I have Intel HD Graphics 8.15.10.2622 date 10/01/2012. But still there is issue of too much processing whenever I play any simple facebook games that has some animation or graphics. I have 6gb in my PC which is 4GB and 2GB, I know this is not a good match should have went for the same number.

Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated....

    Thanks

Good news for you guys!!! :D
Now you can install latest validity WBF driver for your validity Fingerprint reader from here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56001-56500/sp56403.exe

I've tested on my dm4-1210tx VFS301 (Pid=0005) fingerprint reader. It works perfectly and works even better. As it supports WBF you can now see your device on control panel->biometric devices and can install other WBF supported software.

Even better you don't have to use Egistec or Digital persona fingerprint software. Download Authentec HPSimplepass 5.4.0.620 latest version from here: Download Manager

It supports all latest browser version (even Firefox 13). I've checked everything and it works just fine.

Uninstall your previous driver and install latest WBF driver. You might extarct the file and show .inf file from device manager if it doesn't install the driver automatically. So enjoy new fingerprint experience :D

I can verify that this works on my HP tm2t (which works with most of the drivers on this thread) on Windows 8 for logon. I haven't had a chance to test it with IE10 yet or Metro IE10. Requires both the driver the HP Simplepass, and if you're going to use logon, even if you use a Microsoft account to logon, you still need to setup a local password.

Edit: Works with IE10 on Windows 8, you type in your password when first logging in then it asks if you want to remember the website. Metro IE10, as expected due to lack of third party addon support, does not seem to work.

Update: Using HP Simplepass will prevent the fingerprint reader from suspending, at least from my experience thus far. I verified this using the command powercfg -energy. This in turn will keep that USB hub that it is connected to from powering down when not in use, this sipping away at your battery slowly. One thing I noticed though, is that once you've enrolled your fingerprints, they are stored, and you can still log into Windows 8 using the fingerprint reader, but you remove the functionality of it in desktop IE10.
