I may have some insight, when I updated the Bios on my DV3T to F13 my mobile broadband (WLAN) stopped working. It would show up in the Wireless Assistant as on but disabled and it was grayed out so I couldn't change it. I tested this out several times. I reverted back to the previous bios and everything worked fine. I'm sure this is one of the reasons why. Don't know why they removed the Bios completely though because the F12A works fine for me. It wasn't until updated to F13 that I started having problems.

thanks as always but it didn't work. When i tell it to sleep it goes to sleep but 2 seconds later it turns on with the screen off. I move the mouse and the screen comes on with the locked prompt to log in....???

i just figured it out. if i leave my usb mouse plugged in it will keep powering up and powering off. it's just a logitech mx580...i will check synaptics and mouse drivers.

Goto device manager, right click the usb mouse and goto the power management tab. Unselect allow this device to wake the computer from sleep. :)

i dont think you can downgrade your bios, unless you tinker around with the bios setup files.

i have bios f12a installed with win7 ultimate x64, no problems with srs or blue screens. maybe you should re-install windows 7 from scratch if you keep getting bsods.

Actually im realizing i dont need to downgrade just upgrade. After spending useless hours with HP tech support all they kept saying was buy a recovery disk and do a fresh recovery which im avoiding since I have many install i dont want to lose here. I have Bios F.06 which i thought was up to date as per HP until i saw this thread. Ill try f12a ASAP in the morning. But yea my biggest issue right now is the SRS i lost and the IDT issues i keep having. Any other ideas will also be appreciated.

BTW to everyone on here helping THIS THREAD IS AMAZING MUCH BETTER THAN HP TECH SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I completely forgot about that...good work! :D

On another note, there is a new IDT High Definition Audio driver out (version 6.10.6249) -- I will put this up on the original post soon but am too busy to do so at the moment.

    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45926.exe

Apparently the release notes say that it adds a new equalizer in order to "improve the playback experience." :)

i tried these drivers. first off, i didn't notice any difference in the equalizer. but the big issue here was that it wouldnt let me save a custom setting on the equalizer. rolled back to .6242

Ok, so i flashed my bios with F12 and reinstalled my audio driver. I know have working speakers and a responsive quick launch bar, only one issue left.

I still can not find the options, enable, or equalizer for my SRS Premium Sound that came on the computer originally? Any more ideas?. I guessing its just an issue of finding the program and installing it again since i do not think it is bios related, yet teh downlaod is nowhere to be found.

ok when i updated to the latest idt audio driver 10 mins ago without uninstalling the previous version, it updated ok...without any errors. however, the idt control panel seemed different ie. there was no setting for srs etc.

so what i did was go to control panel---uninstall programs
and removed the idt audio driver. once removed, windows will ask to restart so restart your notebook.

once windows comes on again it will automatically install generic drivers for the audio...let it finish. then install the idt driver and restart when completed.

got back the srs etc after that ;)

    Hi,

I don't know if anyone else has had the same problem as me with the BIOS. But in bios updates F.11, and F.12 my WWAN card is not found in HP Wireless Assistant. I researched it up, but it seems that eaither I am alone on this issue or nobody else has a DV3 with a WWAN card in it.

I played around with it today and it turns out that only in bios versions F.06, and F.07 does my WWAN card work. However, it took me forever to find these older bios versions so I thought I would get a collection of the F.06, F.07, F.11, and F.12 uploaded to the internet for those people who might have a problem similar to mine. It can be downloaded here.

    http://wikisend.com/download/542692/HP DV3 BIOS ALL.zip

I cannot seem to upload to rapidshare to stay on permanently so if someone else could do that it might be helpful to other people.

If anyone has solved the problem with bios F.11, and F.12 working with a WWAN card please send me a message, but otherwise this is the only workaround I have found to this issue.

    Mike

yea i have my account set with a password and whenever i log out or shutdown its required to get back on, but the lock wont work using my HP assigned short cut.

I tried making a desktop lock short cut and setting its hotkey to f6 and then hiding the file. it works for a while an then the short cut quits working also.

Just type system information into a windows search. You will get one result called the same thing "System information". Open that and it will list a bunch of your computers specs including current bios and version.

Only if you're experiencing any problems should you really bother with updating the BIOS. If everything's working just as they should, then you won't even need to worry about it. :)

However, you'll notice a couple of improvements right off the bat if you're moving up from version F.06 such as the fan will no longer spin at maximum speed for the first second or two when you first power on your machine. Another is the updated hp logo to the blue circle logo, but that's purely aesthetic.

I installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my dv3t. Everything s working except my webcam. I think i installed some wrong firmware version or driver. After that i unistalled it and tried the one posted here and also on hp s website. But the camera still goes undetected. Can anyone with the same config as mine, post a link of their working driver. Also anyone who knows the make of the dv3t camera. I shall really appreciate it.

Never installed a driver. I'm just using the driver that Windows 7 assigned to it. The driver installed is dated 2006-06-21.

Which program are you trying to use with it?

Is your driver version 6.1.7600.16385 ?

I have tried both HP media smart Webcam 2.2.161(lmade for Vista x64) and 3.0 (made for Win7 x64). Without installing it my device manager does not recognize it. It was working fine earlier, but stopped working. Re-installed win 7 but no luck :(

Yep. The driver version for my webcam is 6.1.7600.16385

It sounds strange. When did it stop working/being detected? As in, when was the last time it was working? Before a certain program or driver installation?

Also, it could be that there may be another video device such as a TV tuner you may be using that Windows automatically sets as the default video device in place of the HP webcam. That'll also cause applications to not see the webcam.

Could you go into Device Manager and see how many devices are listed under Imaging devices? Also might want to check the Sound, Game, and Video Game Controllers section for possible devices.

It was working before i started updating my various drivers from

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=374714

.. I re-installed my windows but it showed as unknown device.

After installing HP media webcam, it showed up under imaging device as HP Webcam. I think i installed some firmware upgrade for webcam which has probably done something.

I've experienced the same problem using the display driver from HP's website. I'm assuming you have the Intel GMA 4500MHD. All you have to do is uninstall that one and install the one listed on the first page of this thread, or download the driver from Intel directly. The driver posted on HP's site seems to have compatibility issues.
