NOTE: The new Realtek Ethernet driver I have just posted does NOT originate from Realtek, but from ASUS (which is rather surprising). See the Important Information section for this component on how you should proceed to install these drivers, since packages from ASUS are set up differently.

Here are some of the updates that I made to the first post within the last few days. I removed the Intel Turbo Boost Technology driver for the time being because most people aren't able to get it working for some reason -- it may be reposted in the future when the issues get resolved.

Windows 7 users: I recommend installing the most recent Application Compatibility Update that Microsoft had posted. Apparently it enables additional application functionality for HP MediaSmart. You can get the update from Microsoft Update or you can manually download the update using the links below.

anybody here know if the current F.65 A bios works with winxp sp3?

 

You should be able to flash the BIOS update on Windows XP SP3 without any problems. Just follow the normal procedure as HP recommends when flashing a BIOS image. Be sure to take the typical and necessary precautions just in case to ensure a successful flash.

 

confirming - it DOES wrk with no problems at least in the first 12 hours of operation since the upgrade.

Some new updates up on the first post. Make sure you uninstall all previous versions of the ATI or NVIDIA graphics driver prior to installing the new version.

Also note that the new NVIDIA graphics driver is from Microsoft Update; read the Important Information section for more details on installation.

Finally, a new IDT High Definition Audio driver is available that must be installed through the Update Driver wizard within Device Manager. Hopefully these drivers will solve any incompatibility issues if you had encountered them.

The Realtek Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader driver has been updated on the realtek website (4/27/2010, but realtek's dates are always a few behind the actual posting)

Also on my dv4-2170us, the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver is required. I don't believe this if offered on the Intel website. It corresponds to the latest one offered by station-drivers.com I believe.

Additionally, the Realtek Card Reader Driver includes both the Realtek PCIE CardReader driver and Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader. The realtek.com.tw package only includes the Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader. The PCEI one isn't offered by realtek.com.tw at this time.

This should resolve any unknown device issue's with this model The rest of the drivers were obvious updates except these. Hope this helps. I'm not sure if it's allowed, but once I bought the laptop I wiped the entire HDD, not thinking to backup any HP wallpapers or themes or additional goodies. Would someone mind posting them?

Edit: Also forgot to mention that Lightscribe System Software was updated to 1.18.14.1

 

I don't think the Intel Management Engine Interface is required. It doesn't seem like it is something that needs to be installed, nor does it seem to update the drivers for any hardware device. (That's why it is not really on the first post)

Also, the dv4 and CQ40/CQ41 use JMicron Card Reader drivers, not Realtek Card Reader drivers. I did apply this update to the dv3/CQ35/CQ36 thread though.

FWIW, a few of the driver descriptions don't match their corrsponding section header (intel wifi & broadcom are switched, intel/nvidia/ati are all mixed up)

Just a small mishap I didn't checked your other threads to see if the same problem occurs with them yet.

Does anyone know how to install the latest Intel Video driver that was posted here? it keeps saying "the driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer" setup will exit

and of course hp does not have this current intel driver up

 

If the setup method does not work, you can always try installing through the Device Manager - Update Driver wizard. Just point it to the directory containing the INF.

I finally had some time to post the updates that have happened over the past few days. Note that the new NVIDIA graphics drivers do not contain an HDMI audio driver or PhysX software, and all previous versions should be uninstalled first.
