sp48675 - Validity VFS301 Fingerprint Reader Driver - 1.00 REV: A June 04, 2010
I don't have this hardware so I didn't look into it too much.
Did we ever figure out what to do with sp48369 - HP 3D DriveGuard 1.10.9.1 REV: A ?
Also please add the realtek PCIE card reader drivers!
sp48888 - 6.1.7600.48 REV: A
I've also got an Atheros AR9285 wireless adapter, but I ignore the severly outdated HP drivers and just grab the latest from laptopvideo2go.com
FWIW, the easiest way I found to check for updates was to grab an FTP client (smartftp), download all *.html files from: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/
Simply throw them all in a folder, and use windows search for whatever hardware keywords you're looking for. Makes life a little easierI only did this for dv4-related hardware though.

Intel Turbo Boost Technology - 1.2.0.1002 - sp48670 (HP link) <- this is included in the intel gfx driver already, might not be needed on other systems using ati/nvidia ?
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 / 5650 / 5850 - sp48811 8.722.3.1 or sp49393 8.743.2 or @ ati's latest notebook should support them fine

This thread is a year old and is almost at 60,000 views! Despite this, there's a lot of focus on the new models now and there isn't much discussion going on anymore with these notebooks. Consequently, I'm going to update the first post less often (like the Intel-based dv5 Gen 1 and dv3 / CQ35 / CQ36 threads). Updates will still occur but only if something important needs to be addressed or posted.
Thanks again everyone for all the support and discussion that you've put into these great driver threads! -
Thank you very much for all the effort you have put into maintaining this thread! It has been a great service to the community. I think we can deal with less frequent updates.
Despite the newer models, I'm planning on keeping my DV4T for the long haul. -
It's interesting to me that the stock Intel graphics drivers are posted here, since at least on my DV4-2160us, they won't install, either in the normal way with the EXE or via Device Manager. This is because HP gave the device a custom hardware ID that isn't listed in Intel's stock INF file. I just assumed that we were stuck waiting for HP to put out their "version" of the update, which they haven't done this year. Someone up the thread mentioned that HP's can be uninstalled to make Intel's work, which I'll try, but I wouldn't have guessed that since I'm not sure how it skirts the fact that it has a different hardware ID. Thanks for the great resource.

Just did a huge update to the first post.
The following have been updated to more recent versions.
- Intel Chipset Device Software
- Intel Rapid Storage Technology
- NVIDIA GeForce Graphics driver
- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator / Intel HD Graphics driver
- Broadcom Wireless LAN driver
- Intel WiFi Link driver
- IDT High Definition Audio Codec
- Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family driver
- Jmicron JMB38x Card Reader driver
- HP Quick Launch Buttons
-
Thanks for the updates.
Is it just me, or does the -overall switch (setup -overall) for the chipset driver not actually update anything (Win7 x64)? It didn't for me -- I had to manually update everything in Device Manager, which is tedious.
Another odd thing: when I initially ran setup without the switch, the program told me that I actually had a newer version installed, and asked if I was sure that I wanted to upgrade. It stated that my existing version was 9.0. The new version is 9.2. Puzzling. When the -overall switch is used, that notice doesn't come up, but any way you run it (except manually in DM), nothing is updated. -

just pondering.. there has to be an easier way to do this than managing 5-7 threads. a lot of it could easily be condensed and merged into one thread, allowing users to pick and choose updates as necessary. if they can't go to device manager to see what they actually have, they really dont need to be updating drivers in the first place. -
I was seriously thinking about creating a mega driver thread that covers a whole bunch of notebook models. Yes, many of the drivers remain the same throughout all the threads. I think it might be something that I can do in the future when I have the time.
I see one downside of doing this though: it eliminates the specific requests and discussion that have helped foster the popularity of some of these driver threads. I'll bring it up with the other users to see what they think. -
i think by condensing threads, we could also pick up older systems while including new ones. the ability to "section" the thread into bios/chipset/graphics/audio/network/wireless/cardreaders, etc etc could help users figure find what they're looking for. but then again you have your oddball stuff (tv tuners/fingerprint readers/dvd firmware) that might not be as easy to classify.
-
Thanks for the update.
As a person with a DV4T, I kinda like having the separate thread for these models. That way I can keep a subscription to it, and posts to the thread have a reasonable probability of being relevant to my machine. If we instead had a consolidated thread that covered more models, I presume there would be more frequent updates and fewer of them would be relevant to me. It would make it harder for me to filter the signal from the noise.
With that said, I'm not one of the maintainers of this thread, so I'm not in a position to make any demands. I'm thankful for whatever support we have.
Thanks -
i understand the one-stop-shop feeling, but the variance between the threads is very little. most of it falls into the graphics card category. i'm not pro-condense threads, but for the sake of maintaining the older threads while keeping everyone happy is quite hard on justin i'd imagine.
i hate to see the other threads updated often and the dv4 thread updated once a month or two

Hello sir, I have a cq40 and so can u please give me the steps and drivers for windows XP.
coz Im fed up with vista n dont want 7 either coz takes a lot of memory.
Well Thank u very much for everything. -
Hello fellow DV4 owners. It's been quiet around here. Hope your machines are still plugging away.
Over the last few months, my DV4T-1000 had started freezing about half the time when it would wake up from sleep or hibernate. I would have to do a hard power off to recover. Also, sometimes after waking up (when the machine didn't freeze) I would get a message that qpsched.exe had crashed or been terminated. Reinstalling drivers, disabling startup programs, etc. did not help.
The solution was to uninstall the HP QuickPlay software! After uninstalling that, the freezes are gone. Also, I was surprised to discover that this solved a startup delay problem that I've had for years (discussed in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/395005-vista-startup-delay.html). I never really used QuickPlay anyway, so I won't miss it. -

Please update the drivers for ALPS Pointing Device and for Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth for Windows 8
-
-
Regarding Bluetooth 2070 - I found the driver via Windows Update. -
What's the scoop on Windows 8 driver support for these machines? The HP support site only has drivers for Vista and 7. The first post in this thread doesn't mention Windows 8 either.
I just bought an SSD to upgrade my DV4t-1000. I was planning to stick with Vista and just do a clean install to avoid any unexpected driver or software incompatibilities that might come with Windows 8. However, I've been reading that Vista doesn't support SSDs very well, for example the lack of TRIM support. So now I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and upgrade to Windows 8. I really don't want to hassle with driver problems though. Anyone have thoughts or experience doing this? Thanks in advance. -
Hi all,
I am from Brazil and I have a dv4-2080br pavilion notebook with W8 PRO already downloaded and installed (by the time I bought it new, the OS on it was W7 PRO), despite being with this Intel onboard GPU. As I lost support for switchable drivers, my mobility radeon HD 4550 is useless since then. It doesn't seem HP released any upgrade on this, as I have already researched. I would like to stick with my AMD ATI GPU though.
Any news on that please?
Funny is that the notebook minimum requirements to run W8 are pretty well fulfilled by my 2 year old machine. The 512 M VRAM used to rock very stably with no glitches or something like that.
My pavilion specs are W8 64, 4G RAM, 500G HD, core i5 1st gen, max clock speed with turbo 2.6 Ghz.
Cheers, SI -
HP will not be supporting Windows 8 on these notebooks, which means that they won't be releasing drivers for these models.
