Oh, right -- I forgot to mention on the original post that the device ID and subvendor ID for the GeForce GT 230M may not be natively supported with the 195.62 drivers (especially with the dv8). A modified INF is needed or version 186.44 must be used at the current moment (which is provided by HP).

First off I wanted to say thank you to this forum as I just came across it yesterday and even though it took me a couple hours to get through all these pages most of my problems were solved. I am left with just a few problems. Big thanks for all the updated driver links!!!
I have a dual boot Windows 7 64 bit/ XP Pro 64 bit dv7t-3000. I have pretty much everything working fine now in XP, but wanted to quiz here on the few things that aren't working. Windows 7 works great.
1. In device manager - HP Integrated Module won't install. I am confused if this is the bluetooth or infrared for remote or even something else.
2. Bluetooth doesn't work. Tried SP34842 and many others, but it says to enable bluetooth to continue when I use SP34842?
3. Brightness buttons don't work! Seems as this is common for everyone in XP. Prob no fix right now!
4. In windows 7 I can use 1920x1080, but in XP I can only use 1600x900 and I have the GeForce GT 230M driver installed on both? In display properties it shows 2 monitors, but #1 says (Multiple Monitors) on GeForce 230M and #2 says Default Monitor on GeForce 230M. The resolution can go much higher on monitor #2 even though I don't have anything connected to it. Shouldn't #1 be the default monitor? In monitors in device manager it has 3 listed, 2 default and 1 PnP.
I appreciate any help you can offer! I spent 14 hours yesterday to get XP 64 installed and now I have exhausted all my options an these last problems.
Thanks,
Don -
My eject touch button doesn't work lol
-
For (1) and (2), try installing the following driver:
HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology for Windows XP
Version: 5.5 D
Link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45078.exe
For (4), Windows Vista and Windows 7 versions of the NVIDIA graphics driver do not work on Windows XP. Try using the mobile 195.62 driver linked on NVIDIA's website, or try an older version if this doesn't work -- such as 186.44 or 186.92. -
For HDX16 and HDX18 users (Don't worry I haven't forgotten about you guys
):
A new BIOS release is now available from HP. As a reminder, read the Important Information section before attempting to update the BIOS for your notebook.
-
Thank you!
-
I am currently downloading the HP Integrated Module driver and will try shortly. Internet connection here is real slow so make take an hour or so.
However I can't seem to find the 186 drivers. Even in the archived section of nvidia it only shows the 195 ones. And I do currently have the XP 195.62 driver installed. I will keep looking, but if anyone can find them please let me know.
UPDATE: I found them HERE just in case anyone needs them.
I will post if the 1st one works for bluetooth asap and after that ones done I'll try and start downloading the older video drivers. might wait till tonight where I can download them quickly.
Thanks again,
Don -
BLUETOOTH works now, that driver was the one...don't take this the wrong way, but I love you!!!
Due to how slow this connection is, I will try the display drivers when I get home tonight and let you know how that goes. If not, no biggie I can live with the 1600x900 if I have to in XP.
Thanks again,
Don -
All the drivers are there. Just select the right card and OS and it'll show all the past drivers too.

I dont think it's your connection.
i was on Google Chrome downloading those drivers end up 30-40kb/sec I'm like .
I reopen the page in Firefox and download with it. max out. -
Has anyone found a fix to the mute not working on the touch pad of an HDX18? Everything I have found does not work. I was hoping that the new bios or driver will fix this. Its stuck on red. When you touch the mute button all this random volume controls pop up on screen
thank you in advance -
you need HP Quick Launch Buttons driver. That's it.
-
i already have installed the latest version 6.50.12.1. no luck
-
rollback the sound driver
-
rolled back the IDT hi def audio driver and still same. now its version 6.10.6225.0.
when I press the touch pad for mute it works but the light is always RED -
I am sure that this is a sound driver issue, try uninstalling it and install the stock driver
-
I think it's the usual problem of the BIOS+Quick Launch+SmartMenu combination. This is what I would suggest to do:
- Install latest BIOS F32A (sp46073.exe)
- Install the older SmartMenu v2.10 (sp42238.exe)
- Install QuickLaunch v6.50.12.1 (sp46731.exe)
Follow the sequence in the first post, but use the versions of the software I gave you, I'll ask rageman to update the guide with the new versions.
Let me know how this goes.
-
Some updates to the original post.
The new MediaSmart Webcam links point to a re-release of the current version, fixing installation issues that some users may have had.
01/09/2010
- Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 14.0.13.1.
- Updated MediaSmart Webcam links.
-
I also agree with the fact that this is a driver issue. when I start the computer the mute button goes white and then red so I know its not an issue. Only when window starts it goes red and never changes.
Are you referring only to the IDT driver or others?
Thank you in advance -
I think you are right because the light toggels when I start the computer and goes red when winodws starts and stays that way.
Are you referring to the IDT driver only?
Thank you in advance -
Tried Axels steps. no luck. same issues
-
Yes i am referring to IDT drivers, try uninstalling it in safe mode and then install the stock driver.
Also, try using itellitype from microsoft.
By the way, are you using windows xp, IDT is not fully compatible with it. -
its a windows 7 machine.
what version is stock driver? -
you will find it is c:\swsetup\driver
-
Ok, went back unistalled the IDT driver in safe mode. Windows restarted in normal mode and it automatically installed IDT V6.10.6209.0. The touch pad for the mute works now. the OSD of the base and treble is awkward but no big deal.
Thanks! -
Noticed that the OSD keeps popping up on screen randomley. The wifi/touchpad/mute turn on and off. Back to the original problem that started it all.

i just noticed that they have both the dv8t-1000 and the dv8t-1100 listed on the hp driver website. Some of the dv8t-1100 drivers seem newer updates. Arn't these systems basicly the same... why wouldnt they update the 1000 drivers at the same time?
-
Since BIOS Update to F.12 on my DV8t, the FAN is always 100% on and the computer thinks he's overheating...
Any comments? -
Hi,
First, thank you for the drivers
.
My Problem:
I have a dv8 1050eg with Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
I bought a Win 7 Pro x64, fomatted the HDD and installed it with all drivers, but i have problems with the Quick Lunch Buttons. The "eject"- Button is not working and when i change the bass or treble, the image on the screen, that shows the status is looking weird.
I installed the newest version 6.50.12.1.
Is there any order, in which i have to install the drivers or something?
Can somebody help me? -
They are the same from what I can tell -- sometimes HP just forgets (or is lazy?) about making sure that the same drivers should be available for the same series of notebooks.
You may want to look through this thread for posts by Axel Foley and rageman in order to help fix this issue. Their advice has proven helpful for many of those who had similar symptoms.
Thanks, now up on the first post.

REVISED TO FIX A FEW ERRORS 01-25-2010
FYI: I'm now using Nvidia driver 7.16.11.7948 01/30/2009 and it's not crashing.
Get the driver by going to Nvidia's site downloads, and click on Archives and Betas. This driver will then be one of the options - it shows as 179.48, February 11 2009 in the Windows 7 64-bit selections (it's the oldest one).
I uninstalled everything Nvidia from Control Panel, deleted the display driver via uninstall in Device Manager, and rebooted into safe mode. Windows will re-install a recent NVidia driver but it won't be in effect. Then delete the device again in Device Manager, and run Driver Sweeper, which will help you physically remove NVidia driver files. Disconnect from the internet (wired and wireless), and reboot again to safe mode, and Windows will again install a recent NVidia driver but it won't be able to go online to find more NVidia drivers, and don't reboot at this point if it says you need to. Then you can install the downloaded archive NVidia driver. Reboot and you should be good to go.
My Windows experience index remained at 4.8 with this old driver, and I'm happy to not be crashing. -

HP ATSC/Analog TV Tuner and HP DVB-T/Analog TV Tuner
Important Information - This TV tuner is originally made by AVerMedia. There is sometimes a newer version of the driver available on their website, however if you use that driver it will not be recognized as "HP ATSC/Analog TV Tuner" or "HP DVB-T/Analog TV Tuner."
- Only install this if your notebook comes with an integrated TV tuner provided by HP.

Windows 7 x641.3.64.76
something's wrong here...
sp45500.exe still installs the driver in 1.0.64.61 (and whats the 1. 3.64.76 about??)
googling around results that 1.3.64.76 is a driver for different AverMedia devices, not for the A309, i dont know if some of the pavilions do own a newer Aver card but the A309 wont let me update it, it's still stuck on the 22 may 2009 version

The version that I listed was for the Avermedia A317 and A316 devices (which I thought was the one that everyone uses).
The package installs the appropriate driver depending on the TV tuner that came with the notebook:
I guess I should change to the vendor version then, which is 1.0.0.4 ...?Code:TV Driver Version= A317 Dawson driver version 32bit v.1.3.0.76 64bit v.1.3.64.76 A316 Barker driver version 32bit v.1.3.0.76 64bit v.1.3.64.76 A309 Sajak driver version 32bit v.1.0.0.61 64bit v.1.0.64.61 A328 Karn driver version 32bit v.2.2.0.33 64bit v.2.2.64.33

The new BIOS revision for the dv8 is now up on the first post. I am awaiting confirmation as to whether it is actually working for people. Remember to read the Important Information section before flashing.
01/15/2010
- Updated BIOS for dv8 to version F.15 E.
UPDATE: There is at least one dv8 user who is reporting issues after the BIOS flash. This release will still be available on the first post, but remember to install it at your own risk. You can either post in this thread or at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=451060 if you are encountering similar problems (blank screen after reboot, etc.).
UPDATE 2 (January 18, 2010): I have now posted a warning in the Important Information section addressing dv8 users about the problems that the F.15 E BIOS may create. -
Hi,
I have a windows 7 professional installed on hdx 18. I have all the latest drivers and softwares from this thread. Still my blu ray wont work. When I try to play any blu ray disk, it just flashes screen and does nothing. Please help. I have installed latest mediasmart dvd software many times but no luck.

Hmm.. provided the essential device driver is installed correctly (go to control panel>view devices, check to see if driver is operating OK for blu ray drive), it sounds as thou a media player issue perhaps. Try downloading VLC media player or BS Player Pro, or even SM player or Zoom player. I know there's alot to choose from, but they all have their pros and cons. VLC and BS seem to be the best for me. If you need the driver, check your comps HP page with all the latest drivers and look for your particular blu ray player. You should have no issues. I have an external sony blu ray burner via USB and it works perfectly, the second I connected it. Installed driver automatically and playback is perfect.
-
Had the same problem on upgrading to Win7. Make sure you have the current drivers, I used the ones supplied through Windows Update. Also look for the most recent version of MediaSmart DVD... now is version 3.1. Look at the driver update part of this forum... will point the way.

HP has posted the new Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver package, which has replaced the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. The original post has been updated to reflect this.
01/19/2010
- Changed "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" to "Intel Rapid Storage Technology."
- Added Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver version 9.5.0.1037.

Thanks a lot Justin...I was getting bored lately...

I must admit that driver/software updates have slowed to a large extent following the release of Windows 7. But you never know, there might be a day where I'll have to update everything at once.
I'm still trying to get the HP Tone Control Utility and HP Support Assistant up, but I haven't had much motivation in putting them up (I need to mention the fact that these are optional). In addition, I think I need to post the Intel Turbo Boost driver for the Quad notebooks so that the Core i7 CPUs can properly switch cores on/off when needed. -
Just bought the dv6-2190us, and this thread has been a lifesaver. However, I'm having trouble getting my wifi working correctly. The hardware ID of the unknown network controller is PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4357&SUBSYS_145E103C&REV_01, which I believe is a Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter (or so Google tells me). However, I can't find the driver for it, and neither the Intel Wifi or Atheros drivers in this thread work.
That would be excellent; I've tried to install the chipset drivers from this official hp link for my model, but for some reason they fail with this message: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."
Any help would be gratefully worshipped.
EDIT: Found this driver which seems to be exactly what I need but it doesn't seem to do anything.
-
Has anyone found a solution to the OSD and wifi randomly activating on and off on an HDX18. I have tried all previous solutions with no luck. This is on a win7 32bit.
Thank you in advance -
%BCM430N_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XNG_NT60, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4357
The specific model is BroadCom Corp BCM43XNG N adapter.
I found your specific version in this driver's .inf file (v5.30.21.0):
http://www.station-drivers.com/tele..._0-winxp-vista-7(www.station-drivers.com).exe
There's also a newer version (v5.60.18.41):
http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...x_5.60.18.41-all(www.station-drivers.com).exe
But this one doesn't have the right entries in the .inf files so I guess it won't work, but you can try.
The older one should work, let me know.
-
Any one with success in enabling 2 fingers gestures?
-
Thank you! I'd found that new one on another site but the old one works perfectly! Now just need to figure out my chipset drivers and I'm set.
EDIT: Anyone else who runs into this problem, please note that I couldn't install the drivers directly, but rather extracted them and then pointed the windows driver search to the appropriate folder.
