I'm curious as to why the "Intel turbo boost driver" will not install? I get an error message telling me that my system doesn't meet the minimum requirements to install the software/driver. Problem seems to be area wide, as a Google search reveals other people also have the same issue.

My computer is an HP DV7T Quad edition (i7 processor.)

    Thanks

install updated chipset drivers first, then hardware-specific drivers.

If you update the chipset drivers, be sure to use the -overall command line switch so that **everything** gets refreshed.

After the chipset drivers you might want to get the ICH, video, networking, etc, etc drivers fully updated before you try turboboost again.

Thanks for your birthday blessings! :D

Now for those new Realtek Ethernet drivers: if anyone is having trouble using the ASUS link that I put up on the first post, I provided some additional ASUS mirrors below.

These quick launch/touch sensitive buttons at the top row are still not working. Has ANYONE figured out a way to get all of them up and running properly with these latest drivers?

With Vista when I pressed the "plus" or "minus" button it would show the volume bar on screen that allowed me to KNOW that it was actually doing what I wanted it to do. However right now that bar doesn't appear on screen. However if I open up the volume bar on the bottom right hand of the task bar and I press the touch sensitive volume rocker it does show movement. So it looks like it's working but it just won't show up on screen. The buttons to turn the sound and wireless totally on and totally off work as well. But so far I have no clue if the treble/bass is working.

EDIT: These are the steps I'm following right now...I'm about to install the latest "HP Quick Launch Buttons" driver from Page 1 of this thread. However that is a different version number than the one that the website recommends.

HP is aware of the issues with the Quick Launch touch buttons, and it supposedly working to correct the problems with a new version of drivers. I haven't heard back from them in several weeks, but they assured me that the issues would be brought to the attention of the higher level support team.

Get the package from Intel site itself. It works for my i7.

PS: It is a gadget btw, am also curious about the driver thingy. Because the intel version doesn't show any driver under device manager as it used to show when u install the HP version. (see it urself)

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone else own an HDX 18t and if so have you gotten that trouble message about the "keyboard filter" issue?

I'm trying to find out what it's looking for but so far no luck.

I'm getting an error message when trying to downgrade from f12.

"IHISI not support current bios" and "BIOS did not support insydeflash"

    Any Thoughts?

P.S. The reason i want to downgrade is that my Bluetooth disappeared. In Wireless Assistant the option to switch it on/off is not present any more.
    Has anyone had similar issues?

    Just found this :

    Code:
Download the HP update for BIOS F.04 and F.13 A, copy the file 363CF04.FD from BIOS F.04 folder to BIOS F.13A folder.

Delete the 2 bin files from F.13 and open the file platform.ini. Here, you will see on the 6 row the following text: "[FDFile]
FileName=", here you write the bios filename so it will look like this FileName=363CF04.FD. Save the file and close it.

Now start the InsydeFlash Utility and downgrade the bios.
Can someone upload or give me a link to bios F12 please.

    02/28/2010
    • Updated HP Quick Launch Buttons to version 6.50.13.1.
    • Updated HP MediaSmart Menu to version 3.1.1.6.

    1) So then... what driver do we use for the nVidia 320M?

    2) And I can't find the TV Tuner driver for the Windows 7 x64. It's not on front page. Any link?

    3) How do I know if I have an Atheros wireless? Where can I check?

    4) My BIOS says F.16 Do I need to update this? What is the latest?

    5) When I try to install the turbo boost driver, my notebook says that my system does not meet minimum requirement. ? I got a core i7 720QM.

I have a DV6t QUAD. Owned it for a few months and decided to do a clean install...
    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi everyone,

The last Wireless driver 13.1.1.1 fix an issue that generate a BSOD on Win 7 x64. This errors occurs when a lot of traffic are sent/received at the same time. I really recommend this update, specialy for those of you who use a NAS server.

    Hi justinkw1,

I just installed the last version of Quick Launch and Smart Menu but the volume bar does not appears anymore.

Here are the steps I followed:
    -Uninstall Quick Launch
    -Uninstall HP Smart Menu
    -Reboot
    -Re-install Quick Launch
    -Re-install HP Smart Menu
    -Reboot

After the reboot I tested several times but it does not work, the Quick launch bar seems working because I can increase or decrease the volume, eject Cd etc... but nothing appears on my screen.

Do you have any tips or advice?

    Thank you in advance,
    Didier

I lost my Bluetooth on my dv8 laptop when I updated to F12 bios. I also got the IHISI not support current bios message. I followed your method to load the F06 from the F12 bios files and it seemed to work fine. However, I still can not get my Bluetooth back. I tried eveything that I could think of and nothing works. My internal Bluetooth module is still not being seen by the laptop. I tried setting bios defaults and powering my laptop down. Nothing gets the Bluetooth back. Were you able to get your Bluetooth working again?

    Didier,

unfortunately the only reliable SmartMenu version (responsible for the GUI that shows the sliders for volume, bass and treble) is still v2.10 (sp42238).

You also need Quick Launch, but you can use the latest version Justin posted (v6.50.13.1).

I just tested the combination I told you and it works, uninstall both, reboot, install latest QL and install SM 2.10, reboot and you should be all set.

HP is incredible...they still didn't fix the problems with the latest SmartMenu, and the setup procedure is ridiculous, a series of batch files badly written.

I noticed that the thread "revived" itself again after posting a few updates. :)

@Axel: The MediaSmart setup procedure is pretty bad I admit -- the batch files are not the best way to get the job done. :)

    Mid-day update, 02/28/2010:

    • Updated Intel WiFi Link driver to version 13.1.1.1 (thanks fibertech and SebbesApa).
    • Updated driver information for GeForce GT 320M.
    • Renamed "NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce GT 130M, and GeForce GT 230M" to "NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT / GT 130M / GT 230M / GT 320M."

It had occurred to me that HP just officially corrected the NVIDIA driver information to now support the GeForce GT 320M in version 187.66, but this is the only driver I currently know of which supports the 320M since only HP uses them. Hopefully this is a working driver, not just something that HP changed on-the-fly.

Justin, I love batch files, I love developing them for sysadmin stuff. But we're talking about drivers here...come on HP...you can do better than that... ;)

As a matter of fact, the latest SmartMenu still doesn't work...back to v2.10. ;)

    1) Use version 187.66 for the NVIDIA GeForce GT 320M.

    2) What TV tuner are you referring to? I have the HP ATSC/Analog TV Tuner and HP DVB-T/Analog TV Tuner driver posted...do you have a different one?

    3) If you have a wireless adapter that is NOT compatible with 802.11n, then you're probably using an Atheros wireless card. If it is 802.11n compatible, then it is an Intel WiFi Link card.

    4) You have a newer BIOS than what is posted, meaning you don't have to update your BIOS. :D

    5) Many users are having issues with the Intel Turbo Boost driver -- hold off on this one...I might have to remove it since the driver seems to be causing so much trouble (over all the current driver threads which use the Core i5/i7).

Justin, you might want to add the tools&drivers version for download:

    http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18754/eng/ICS_s64.exe

Without this, you cannot use some new functionalities they introduced with this version; and you also have some diagnostic tools that could be helpful. ;)

Btw i haven't seen this tool listed here anywhere for dv6, it happen to be there on my model of DV6 at HP site.

HP USB Recovery Flash Disk Utility

Description: This package provides the HP USB Recovery Flash Disk Utility for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. This utility copies the original factory recovery image from the Recovery Partition to a USB flash disk that can be used to recover the notebook/laptop to its original state.

Intel only offers a Turbo Boost software monitoring utility, and not a driver. However, the one that HP and I have is actually a driver apparently.

Uh, I already had it on the first post -- it was under the Previous Releases...no need to be loud and red

But here is the direct link to the 187.66 drivers anyway -- ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp46501-47000/sp46506.exe

See, as I already stated, EVEN these stock drivers from HP do not work. They do not install the display driver or the Nvidia control panel. They only install the HD audio. Thats it. My display resolution will not go to native resolution at all!
I am just fed up with this crap.
    Any other driver please?

Try log on in safe mode, uninstall the NVidia driver from the control panel, restart, disable antivirus software, install the driver and restart.

All right, this is becoming ridiculous -- HP had changed the NVIDIA graphics driver description on their Quad Edition support pages to "NVIDIA GeForce GT 320M" drivers where in actuality the drivers still don't support them. Because of this, I've updated the information on the first post yet again.

If you have a notebook with NVIDIA GeForce GT 320M graphics and need a driver, contact HP and tell them that a driver for the GeForce GT 320M needs to be released or distributed, and that the existing drivers don't work. If they try to tell you to send it in and whatnot, refuse because this is a problem that can be handled without you sending in the notebook.

If someone additionally has the NVIDIA graphics driver in their SWSetup folder, please PM me -- I am thinking about just posting it manually from my own web space. :)

    03/01/2010
    • Updated driver information for GeForce GT 320M.
    • Updated LSI (Agere) High Definition Audio Modem driver to version 2.2.98.0.

The poster that I quoted installed these things:

    Installed:
    - HP MediaSmart MVP
    - HP MediaSmart Smartmenu
    - HP Tone Control
    - HP QuickLaunch
    - HP MediaSmart DVD...

Do I install those things in exactly that order? In order to get those menus to pop up when I adjust those settings?

I just want to know which is most critical to install first...

EDIT: I REALLY hope someone replies this time unlike before but for the record I'm going to try this and see how it works.

    1) Update the BIOS
    2) Install all the Media SMart Programs
    3) THEN install the Quick Launch Software...

I'll report how it works...if it does....

Justin, nvidia came out with new drivers (desktop version) v196.75.

In the what's new I read they added official support for GeForce GT 320, GeForce GT 330, and GeForce GT 340.

On LV2GO there's also the modded inf to install these on the mobile versions of those models.

Here's the link to the official driver page (for W7 x64):

Thanks Axel -- as for an official release, HP has FINALLY released an official driver supporting the GeForce GT 320M! The new driver should also be compatible with all the other GeForce graphics cards that are supported in this thread. :)

Any chance you'd be willing to dig out the direct-from Intel download links for those drivers?

Not really...not for an INF updater, it's not that important. ;)

Before installling Windows 7 I called our Platinum Level Tech Support in Canada and they said it meant to uninstall the Quick Launch buttons. That was a help.

On the other hand they have been no help in getting the MVP installed. First I got the message about no transformers...path... so I copied the Vista SWSetup file back and everything installed except that one. The latest is that installation is forbidden by system policy, which I can't access as I have Home Premium. However, I usually see no message at all, nothing at all except something on the taskbar that never comes up on the screen where I would click next.

Anyone able to help with that?

Anyone noticed that here we have posted for the MediaSmart MVP sp46570 3.0.D or 3.D didn't check, while on HP's site for my HDX18 it is sp45691, both for Windows 7. In fact I sort of think that the sp46570 was at the hp site. So why was it pulled?

I can't install either, of course. But the D was to work for people who did a clean install.

INF updates are as important as any other driver. It's not just having the correct names for your devices. It's having the basic hardware capabilities available fro enumeration before the drivers load. This helps the PnP process quite a bit.
