This driver thread has since discontinued providing driver links which are specifically compatible with Windows XP, but we can still help. What notebook do you use, and what hardware do you need drivers for?
Thanks! Will update the original post when time permits.![]()

I did some more searching and found it. It is from the dv8 owners lounge, post 1945, Jauary 17,2010. here it is:

Don't forget to install the modified inf file and insert it in the same folder where the driver is extracted before installing it .I searched some more and found it. It worked perfectly for me until I stupidly installed the newer drivers and couldn't find the inf changes. Here they are:

I may have come up with a solution for us folks that are having issues with installing the latest drivers for the 230m GPU's on our DV8's. This has worked for me and the driver seems to be stable for now. Please note you will need to modify a .inf file so this driver will install.
After you have downloaded the driver for your system Driver for x64 you will need to run it (the installation will more than likely fail at this point) but will have extracted the files to the following folder:
C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\195.55\WinVista_Win7_64\International
In this folder you will see a file named nvam.inf. You will need to open this file in notepad and locate these two entries:
%NVIDIA_DEV.0A28.01% = Section065, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A28&SUBSYS_20311043
%NVIDIA_DEV.0A28.01% = Section066, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A28&SUBSYS_20311043
You will need to put the entry - 7001103C in where the 20311043 is in both entrys and save the file.
(example: %NVIDIA_DEV.0A28.01% = Section066, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A28&SUBSYS_7001103C)
From there run the setup file located in this folder and all should install fine. Hope this helps the ones having issues with their video drivers.Click to expand...Click to expand... -

Can someone please help me.
This is IDT Audio Codec has done nothing but destroy my computer. It happened with Vista and now it's happenening with 7.
Basically when I install it everything seems to run okay at first. However aftera few days weird annoying crap starts happening. Like when I unplug the power cord from my laptop the sound starts to get really static like, slow, and overally just stupid. In addition it will slow down my computer heavily and the only thing I can do is force shut it dodwn by holding the power button.
On top of that when I'm listening to music it seems like the volume has been cut down to like 1/3 of its original strenght.
Like when I first installed 7 I didn't install the codec just to know how it would sound. Then after a week or so I finally installed it. Well its' been 2 to 3 weeks since then and I just want to return to the original driver that Windodws 7 used for the audio. How do I do that?
I uninstalled the IDT codec and right now I have no sound. The volume icon on the bottom right just has a red x besides it. -
I have a dv6t quad and have a strange IDT HD problem. The only way I can hear my internal speakers is if I plug my headphones into the mic jack. Otherwise there is no sound. Both of the headphone jacks work fine, but the internal speakers will only play with the mic jack plugged in.
Any ideas?
I just tried updating to the latest IDT drivers with no luck. I also tried going back to original drivers with no luck. -
All right everyone, I'm aware of a bunch of new drivers that need to go up on the original post at this point. However, due to my busy schedule consisting of studying, sleeping, and final exams, the next update will be this weekend.
I'm aware of the following new drivers, including those that hyunf and lovegl had mentioned:
- HP MediaSmart Live TV, version 3.1.2206
- HP MediaSmart DVD, version 3.1.3719
- HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology, version 6.2.1.1100
- Synaptics TouchPad, version 15.0.9.0
- Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet drivers
I highly encourage users who are knowledgeable about the problems that users are having here to help out.
Also, if you find any other drivers that I may have missed, please mention them here.
-
I wish someone could find a driver for the audio that actually works....
-
Here are the updates that I promised to put up, and now they are up!
03/20/2010
- Updated MediaSmart Live TV to version 3.1.2206 (3.1 A9).
- Updated HP Integrated Bluetooth Module driver to version 6.2.1.1100.
- Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.0.9.0.
- Updated Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family Controller driver to version 6.235 for Windows Vista and version 7.017 for Windows 7.
-
Thanks Justin
Driver 15.0.9.0 for the touchpad is now supporting Multi-touch.
Uninstall the old driver from the control panel-uninstall program- synaptics touchpad driver.
Restart, install the new driver, restart.
Two Finger scrolling is enabled by default.
Application gestures are enabled by default:
it includes 3 finger tapping to open an application, you can select you application when you click the configure button, and 3 finger flicking. To configure double click the synaptics icon, select device settings tab, click settings then application gestures, then 3 fingers press, then configure.
Also, zone tabbing is pretty useful not new though, it lets tapping on the corner work as customized orders like go forward if you click the lower right zone and go backward if you click the lower left zone.
To configure double click the synaptics icon, select device settings tab, click settings then tapping, then tap zones, then configure, check enable tap zones, then select the options you like.
I cross posted the post from the DV6t owner lounge as i think it may be useful for some people. -
Yeah, double finger scrolling! I installed it without deleting the old driver as the HP instructions didn't require it, and it works just fine. I'm going to try EdgeMotion next as that seems like a good idea.
-
So does this mean the touchpads were actually Multi-touch, or did they just figure out a way to make it work with the hardware present?
Eitherway, its pretty interesting seeing all of the new options availible, I'll have to get used to using some of them, because I only use the touchpad when I'm out and about, I have a Wireless mouse I use at home 90% of the time. -

At last, Synaptics TouchPad driver have brought up the Multi-touch feature support around ....
Have been waiting for the "two finger scroll" feature for my touchpad...
I think HP has start listening to the people opinion rather then there own

Sorry for the late update announcement (although it's minor) -- the Envy 15 driver thread has been busy.
03/22/2010
- Updated MediaSmart Music/Video/Picture to version 3.1.3615 (3.1 C2).
I am aware of the fact that the current IDT High Definition Audio drivers may not be working for some users here -- I'm investigating and trying to find a newer driver, but in the meantime use an older version to see if this fixes the problem. If all else fails, use the driver that HP provides -- I apologize if I can't be of more assistance.
-
Great news everyone! Just an FYI: I'll finally be upgrading from my dv6500t notebook that I've been using for almost three years -- I'm going to be a proud owner of a dv6t Quad Edition (like many of you users out there who look at this thread often)! You know what that means... I'll actually have to be relying on my own driver thread when I do a clean install of Windows 7.
Having a dv6t Quad Edition will also help me figure out what's really needed on the first post of this thread and what isn't needed. After careful consideration and based on my needs, I also made the decision that the dv6t Quad Edition would serve as a great upgrade to the dv6500t -- can't complain especially since it was "won" for less than $700.
Thanks for everyone's support and contribution to this thread! More updates to come when they are available...

@windstrings: I don't think anyone has figured it out as of yet -- the problems that many users were having with the Turbo Boost driver had caused me to yank it off the first post.

I've got a yellow exclamation mark about the intel chipset "unknown device"... I delete it and reinstall ver 2.00A from hps site and it comes back.. been working on it about 10 hours now.
If I double click on that unknown device it describes its location as Intel PM55 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B03 -
Well I fixed the yellow exclamation mark by installing the older intel chipset that it was looking for and I have to do it the back door way.... tell it I Wanted to pick from a list of drivers "after" I ran the install... it was a long list by I finally found the PM55 "3B03" and it installed..
I now have no errors in device manager... but I still get the error at the end of installing the turbo boost drivers.
But after installing Intels turbo boost monitor, it appears to be working as the cpu raises when I grab a big screen and jerk it around on the desktop.... so what gives?
is this just a bug in the turbo driver install? -
Hi All,
Anyone has problems installing the modem driver?
I am using Win7 x64 on HDX 18 1200EO and the modem driver doesn't really install. The only way it actually start is that I locate the dir on C drive where it decompresses the install files and I change default run mode to "Run as Admin". Then it starts installing but at around 80-90% done install window dispappers, but the setup.exe task remains in the memory not doing anything. Was the same with the old version and the new one as well.
Anyone else has this problem?
I am not sure if this is related to this, but the list of devices in control panel shows a yellow exclamation mark next to the modem driver and the bluetooth modem driver as well.
Anyone else has similar problems? Could someone using Win7 x64 try add a new hardware just a simple Standard 33600bps modem? Even if I do only this much, it still shows a yelllow exclamation mark. Will someone pls try this and let me know if this works fine for you?
Thanks in advance! -

As the "keeper of the drivers" lol, I wanted to ask you if you think there is any good reason to flash the f.17 BIOS if you are not having any problems. For that matter, does it claim to fix any known problems anyway? I think that the HP dv6-8 + HDX BIOS fiascos of Feb would cause us all to wait a good long time to take this chance, especially with no published benefits of the BIOS update (from F.06 recently, f.12-15 before they took ALL BIOS versions off the dv8 site for weeks.
Please advise. Thanks, Jeff -
@lovelaptops: The only fix that HP has documented for the new dv8 BIOS F.17 is:
Since I don't own a dv8, I can't really tell you if this update is working reliably or not, sorry.- Fixes an intermittent issue where the system displays the error “IHISI:flash
read error in SMI!” while upgrading the BIOS from F.12 to F.15.Click to expand...
From the notes, it looks like this release was further meant to fix any issues that were occurring during the flash procedure to F.15 (and this is why the BIOS releases were taken off).

New official NVIDIA graphics drivers for notebooks are now available and now up on the first post!
Unfortunately, the GeForce GT 320M is still omitted from this release, so notebooks using this card must continue to use 188.17.
Visit http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=471566 for general discussion on these new drivers, and remember to look over the Important Information section!
03/29/2010
- Updated NVIDIA GeForce graphics driver to version 8.17.11.9716 (197.16).
-
This may be old hat to most, but I'm gonna post these instructions anyway:
Until installing over the old drivers without an uninstall first becomes trustworthy do this:
1. Download the new drivers, but do not install yet.
2. Uninstall the old display drivers via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
3. Restart.
4. Set resolution to higher "or max" or the install screen will leave you without abilities to see the "next" button to continue installation. "don't turn up before initial restart as after reboot it goes back to lowest settings"
5. Install the new drivers.
6. Restart. -
how about to add broadcom 43224AG wifi a/b/g/n draft cards?

I'm sorry, but am I the only one FOMC laughing from this? So, you are supposed to flash F.17 so that you can then flash F.12 so that you can then "upgrade" to F.15 without having an "intermittent flash read error" ?!!!justinkw1 said: ↑@lovelaptops: The only fix that HP has documented for the new dv8 BIOS F.17 is:

Where do I begin? Nah, forget it. You either get the irony or you don't. I'm sticking with F.06; if it was good enough in November, it's good enough now

FYI, the F.13 A BIOS link for the dv6/dv7 no longer works.

If I've had a device long enough to do a firmware update I "always" save the updated firmware to hardrive somewhere... that way if you update again you have something to go back to as older firmware is not always offered should you have issues with the latest.aletaziar said: ↑FYI, the F.13 A BIOS link for the dv6/dv7 no longer works.Click to expand...

Me too. I was just away from my usb drive and wanted to try something for my bios so I tried to get it from here. It was dead, and since it's for the most recent bios for the dv6/dv7, I thought I'd let the OP know so he could update the driver list. After further thought I've uploaded the F.13 A bios here in case a mirror is needed for future users. -
@misko903: I will probably add the Broadcom wireless LAN drivers soon -- does anyone else need them? If you currently need them, go to the dv3 or dv4 driver threads that I also manage for the latest Broadcom wireless LAN drivers.
@aletaziar: Thanks for notifying me -- I just removed the official links from the first post.
For everyone: Now as for an update to the IDT High Definition Audio driver, I did find a newer version on HP's FTP site -- however, the INF shows significantly different products that are supported compared to version 6263 (see the subsys ID). I am posting the new package here to see if anyone can determine whether it is compatible with the notebooks, but in the meantime I am keeping 6263 up on the first post.

Thanks Biker321, that's why I just posted this on-the-fly to see if it was really compatible with the notebooks or not.
Today is the day where I'm join those who own a dv6t Quad Edition! See my sig for the specs of this new notebook that I will be using from here on in. Now I can even official call myself a user of this driver thread (with the privilege to edit, that is

I had contacted HP support and the representative had told me that new BIOS releases (at least for the dv6t Quad and dv7t Quad) will be available within the next 24-48 hours. I have some doubts on this but we'll see.
-
Do you make your sig yourself or something?
And have fun with that i7, just don't let it burn you~ -
