The newest Intel chipset package worked just fine for me on Windows Vista. It actually updated more devices this time around (I'm on PM965, ICH8M chipsets because I use a dv6500).

Do you guys want me to put back up 9.1.1.1015 on the original post? Apparently there seems to be more issues than were expected with the newest package, including the LPC controller for ICH9M chipsets.

Thanks for sharing [SMAN]. It will be on the original post shortly once I can confirm the version number.

For those who can't use the above link, here is the direct link -- http://update.cyberlink.com/ftpdloa...11-01/HP-CNB.v2905_v2711_Med_HTS090611-01.exe

Edit: From what I'm seeing, this update to MediaSmart DVD is the same version that is already posted.

    Justin,

On W7 the setup doesn't work, it seems bugged so if you want to keep this one, link the previous only for W7 users. ;)

I am also having the HP HDX16t/Window 7 64bit (RTM Build 7600)/ Audio buttons problems. I've tried everything mentioned so far, with includes:

    1. With Smart Menu without Quick Launch.
    2. Smart Menu with Quick Launch.
    3. No Smart Menu or Quick Launch, only 3RVX 2.5
(And another one from another site)
    4. Uninstalling everything and installing the IDT audio driver only via Device Manager. (Windows always seems to find the Audio Driver automatically before I can install it manually, I'm not sure where windows keeps finding it.)

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com...i/thread/a7f23565-569a-4765-ac0a-2ef05f4308b7

Currently I went back to number two and everything works (Smart Menu keys, eject, mute, Wireless on/off, audio, etc) except the toddle between Bass & Treble. Which hasn't worked for me since I formatted the factory installed Vista 64 and HP software setup and starting using the Windows 7 Betas, RC's and RTM's. Does anyone have any other additional ideas that don't require returning to factory settings and Vista 64?

    RocketSledder,

we already talked about this, and I can confirm ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5272913&postcount=90) that the only 2 software needed are QuickLaunch and SmartMenu.

You are talking about Smart Media but I don't know what it is, I guess you were confusing with SmartMenu.

Also, uninstall 3RVX, it isn't needed.

Download QuickLaunch and SmartMenu from the first post of this thread.

Opps sorry, yeah Smart Menu, I think it was called Smart Media on my old Acer laptop. I guess I'll try uninstalling Quick Launch and Smart Menu completely and then re-install them and hope that it they work correctly this time, Thank You.

A few driver updates now on the original post. :)

    09/06/2009
    • Updated HP Integrated Bluetooth Module to version 6.2 E (thanks dannyres).
    • Added Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility version 9.1.1.1015 for troubled Windows 7 users (in the Notes section).
    • Updated NVIDIA graphics driver to version 186.91 for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Remember to uninstall all previous versions of the NVIDIA graphics driver prior to installing the newest package.

It has also come to my attention that there may be some drivers on the original post which are older than the ones that come with Windows 7. I am investigating this issue at the moment, and will update as necessary when I have more info.

HP DV16 now has a Windows 7 section and it looks like they have added Media TV Smart or whatever its called under there for x86 and x64

One big problem with the new Bluetooth drivers, when I instaleld them and it upgraded the prior one I had which I got form this thread, it installed fine but now alot of my bluetooth options are missing. The most critical being my Audio tab. And now my bluetooth stereo headset no longer works and I cannot add it as a BT device, only my bt mouse works now.

Anyone have the prior BT driver version as this one has made by bluetooth essentially useless. Another feature its lacking is dialup modem drivers to use my cellphones internet connection with my dv16 via bt. Kinda blows.

Hey justinkw1, there is a new Windows 7 driver update (Version 7.006) for "Realtek RTL8168C Gigabit Ethernet/LAN". (Well, the thread link already directs to this update but the thread's info needs to be update.)

I am aware that HP has begun to add a Windows 7 driver section, but it is far from complete at the moment.

There are currently a few minor problems with the Bluetooth software that come with the current driver (the driver itself works). A new update should be available soon that will hopefully fix some of these software problems (version 7.0 for Windows 7).

Thanks for alerting me to the new version. I will update the original post to reflect it. :)

Edit: Updated the original post. Thanks again!

    or

If I cannect to my HDTV via HDMI to HDMI what resolution will I get?

You should be able to get both your LCD and HDTV to operate at their native resolutions using a DVI/HDMI connection.

An application update to MediaSmart MVP is now available that "resolves an issue with the system losing the Internet connection when using a D-Link Wireless-N router." Version 2.2.2829 must be installed first before installing this patch (which is also available on the original post). I consider this application update optional since not everyone is affected, but it is nevertheless posted for those having this exact problem.

    Version: 2.9.2.3214

    Intel Core 2 Quad 2.26Ghz; Memory Ram 4GB (DDR3); Windows XP SP3

    1) I have the same unknow device "Intel(R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919", installed the last version of intel chipset(-overall) and doesn't works, the IRQ that uses this unknow device is #4

2)The ProtectSmart Hard Drive can't install (normal or extracted) a message says that accelerometer is not compatible or isn't present.

3)MediaSmart(dvd, tv, cam, mvp) can't install nothing always says that "Software can only be installed in authorized machine"

4)JMicron 1394 Filter ??? When i install this, my latency is to bad, machine becames slower (DPC Latency Checker)

    5) I Use a external WireFire sound card(for recording) doesn't work with HDX18 WinXP (bad firewire chipset maybe ??) even with iTUNES the latency its so bad to play a simple mp3 (drop-outs).

    1) Install version 9.1.1.1015 of the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (using -overall) -- it's also on the first post under the notes section.

    3) Try to install MediaSmart software using administrator privileges. This can be done by right-clicking on the setup file and selecting "Run as Administrator."

    4) Is anyone else having issues with the JMicron 1394 Filter driver (especially with latency/slowdowns)? I may remove the driver from the original post if there are more complaints. :)

    Hi justinkw1, thanks.... but

1)I have install that version too, but doesn't work... what device is in IRQ #4 ?
Has anyone have the same problem in WinXP ????

3)MediaSmart, says the same message, can it be a problem of lenguage? "ProgramFiles" of "ArchivosDeProgramas" (WinXP Spanish)

In WinXP the latency grows when sounds something(even in windows sounds).

Setup failed to read the required Display Driver to be used with this package.

New audio drivers are out on Microsoft Update and are now up on the original post. This hopefully will fix issues that some of you may have encountered.

    09/24/2009
    • Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 5.10.6230.0 for Windows XP, and version 6.10.6230.0 for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Just to be safe, remember to uninstall all previous versions of the audio driver prior to installing the newest version.

Edit, 09/25/2009: It seems HP is trying to do some catching up as well -- these new audio drivers are also now available as an official Softpaq distribution for Windows XP. I updated the link because the Softpaqs make installation much easier.

    09/25/2009
    • Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver links. (This was mentioned in the edit above.)
    • Updated ENE CIR Receiver driver to version 2.7.4.0.

Do you think its possible to add mini descriptions to the HP software, to say which one of them do? I linked someone to this thread the other day, and I'm not even sure what some of them do.

Video Driver since you're running on Aero Basic? (Not really?)

    Try the IR Reciever?

Really, just go through everything you have again, There's not too much we can tell from just that screenshot.

Most likely IR receiver. Just use Winrar to extract it and right cilck the unknown device and update it manually using the extracted driver. Best way to do it, I use it on my dv5t. Everything works beautifully.

The only thing I see missing is the modem. Did you get that option installed? Another thing that it may be is the Intel Matrix driver. Check what motherboard you have and you can get it straight from the Intel website. They have Matrix drivers for Windows 7 available at least for my dv5t. I'm sure it has yours.

    Aleicgrant,

if you go into the Details tab of the device, then go into hardware id property you will see the specific hardware identifiers of the device.

With this info we can help you find which is the device you're missing...

Last thing: be sure to install the intel chipset drivers and if Reddeer2000 is right, also install the HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection driver.

    Aleicgrant,

I forgot to say that the HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection software has been reported not to work if you don't install Intel Matrix Storage software first.

So, to recap: install Intel Chipset Drivers, then Intel Matrix Storage, then HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection.

If you don't solve, then report the hardware id of the unknown device like I told you in my previous post.

    Hi,

i'm new here and i recently got my HP HDX16-1060EG back from the repair center and where they exchanged my flickering display.
I saw they updated the BIOS of my HP and i was so keen to take a backup since it is Version F.25.

Use it on your own risk.
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=48ZL9GND

Don't blame me if you trash your HP ;) On my HP it runs fine and it seems that the BIOS fixes issues with the WLAN toggle ( Video).

Cheers and have a nice day,

Yeah i know i'm new here, but i thought i post it anyway. This is not a mod from me nor anyone. This is an update which was made by HP. Sure, i cannot prove it and thats the problem. I can make a picture from the BIOS screen with the F.25 on it and post it here next hours :)

Thanks for the update, now on the original post! :)

From what has been discussed in this thread, I believe you need to install the MediaSmart utilities. You should also install the Quick Launch Buttons if you haven't already done so.

You will need to install the ENE CIR Receiver driver in order to use the remote that comes with the notebook.

The original post has been updated with a couple new drivers. The most significant change is the new Validity fingerprint reader driver and package -- it is now officially Windows 7 compatible.

    10/01/2009
    • Updated Realtek Ethernet/LAN driver to version 6.227 for Windows Vista.
    • Updated Validity Fingerprint Reader to package version 3.1.366 and driver version 2.0.1.2.

I guess Validity Fingerprint Reader version is 2.1.0.2, as the file it self says I quote:

    "TITLE: Validity Sensor Driver

    VERSION: 2.1.0.2 Rev. A
    DESCRIPTION:
This is a self-extracting compressed file that contains the Validity Sensor Driver..."
