HP Simple Pass 2011 is not yet compatible with Firefox 5...fyi
-
I installed it after getting rid of digital persona and upgrading to firefox 4, but every time I finish registering a fingerprint (3-4 swipes) it just tells me that it looks like I have encountered an issue and I can only restart the whole process. How did you guys manage to register fingers? My VFS301 driver is 4.3.118.0, the latest I found here.
I've tried the Egistec one too, but it randomly stopped recognizing my finger during the registration process. Before you would ask: I had not had a single issue with older software since I have this notebook. -

There's greater version of Broadcom Wireless LAN driver available at Acer. Version 5.100.235.19. Although version number is greater it may be dated older than 5.100.82.82.

ps.
A few months back , i also posted Broadcom Bluetooth 2070 driver version 6.4.0.1201, which originates from Lenovo. I have it installed on my machine and it works well. I can post a link to that driver if Justin or anyone else wants to give it a go. -
Can you post the link please
-
Ok, Here you go. One word of caution though, Broadcom bluetooth istallers sometimes act crazy
, so make sure you have fresh backup of system before installing this driver.
Broadcom Bluetooth Driver - Lenovo -
What Z3tor means when Broadcom Bluetooth installers go crazy, is that they can start hollowing/deleting out everything on the hard drive (and I mean everything!) if an unexpected error occurs. HP Broadcom Bluetooth packages do not have this problem (fortunately for us), but install from the other OEMs at your own risk. And remember to have a system backup handy!
More info in this blog post - The Invisible Blog: DO NOT install Broadcom's bluetooth driver software update to Windows 7
Also, I'm verifying the Intel RST update -- hopefully will post it on up shortly. -
Considering that the blog post listed is dated 18 months ago, one needs to take it all with a significant grain of salt.
The guy didn't say whether or not he bothered to deinstall the msft driver before going for the Broadcom distro.
The msft bluetooth driver stack is known to have conflicts with Most of the Known Universe. This comes from its support for the 'instant-on' Microsoft bluetooth stick that emulates a USB mouse connection instead of a proper bluetooth mouse/HID connection.
Bad JuJu. -
Just thought I'd mention that I've been using it since it was posted here without any problems so far.

- Updated JMicron JMB38X Card Reader driver to version 1.0.62.0 (thanks Z3tor).
I'm not sure what to say about the Intel HD Graphics driver here -- package version number is higher on the first post but actual driver version is higher here (2413). I have not posted this up as of yet. -
I noticed that too. Version/package numbering makes no sense to me either.

Updated Synaptics TouchPad drivers are finally available!
07/12/2011
- Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.3.1.4.
- Updated HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor to version 4.2.2.1 (driver) / 4.1.9.1 (software).
-
Anybody know what drivers the remote control uses? I can't seem to get this thing to work.
-
I think the remote control relies on the ENE CIR Receiver. The driver for this receiver is located on the first post.
If the remote is not working, you may also want to consider replacing its battery.
-
Are the new Synaptics driver hardware-level specific?
-
Update for the old digital persona fingerprint reader software... this one is only for 64-bit... idk if there is a 32-bit one

Yes, the current release contains an INF file with specific TouchPad entries for HP consumer notebooks -- if that's what I think you're asking.

at some point I disabled my onscreen bass and treble controls, and now I want to get them back. Can someone please point me in the correct direction? My audio is too bassy
-
You can use the HP Tone Control Utility, which is located here:
HP Tone Control Utility - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
You should also be able to adjust bass and treble controls from the IDT Audio Control Panel. -
i have never found that to work too well, like i change the settings, but they just go right back... as justin said, changing setting in the IDT control panel gets real results. if i disable the SRS premium sound, the bass sounds a lot better, especially through my bose speakers

For you, the TBT driver will be useful since you are using a first generation Core i5 processor. I re-posted the TBT driver on the first post (although different Softpaq number, it is the same version).

there is a tres chic applet called volume2 that takes over windows and third-party volume and EQ controls.
Very Good Stuff -
I just bypass the on board sound processor entirely by using an external USB DAC/amp/preamp (see my sig for name). Windows sees (and shows) it as another sound device. It's pretty awesome, but not cheap.

Can I flash F.1D without problems? How can I ensure this? -
You should be able to flash to F.1D without difficulty. Make sure you follow the guidelines on the first post to ensure a successful flash.

Toshiba Wireless Connection Portal:
edit
Atheros driver must be installed manually, using "have disk" method and previous driver must be uninstalled first. AR5009 device is not listed, but if you select HP 802.11a/b/g Wireless Network Adapter, it will work just fine. -
Hey guys I could really use some help. My fingerprint reader is no longer working, I'm not sure what happened because it just stopped a few hours ago out of no where when it was working just fine.
When I swipe my finger the digital persona software doesn't come up and at the windows login screen it says reader not detected.
I actually think that the hardware of the fingerprint reader might be broken because device manager DOES NOT have a section called "personaly identification software" which is what I found to be the section that the fingerprint reader is suppose to be under.
Can someone PLEASE help me, I use the fingerprint reader ALL the time.
EDIT: Here is an image of the error I get:
EDIT:2 I got it fixed. -
Incase someone does a search on this forum and is having the same problem:
Fingerprint reader [Solved] -
That solution might also work if someone is having problems with other touch controls such as volume and wifi.
-
That above fix is only temporary as the issue still exists.. maybe this firmware update works.. it installed just fine..
I apologize if this has been addressed but just found the fix for the issue I've been having.. its a firmware update for the quicklaunch buttons..

Let us know whether it works for you.
So far, I haven't experienced the issue (thankfully). I installed the update anyway, in the hopes that perhaps it will work as preventative therapy. -
Digital persona software is crap however..... its true I didn't totally uninstall the old version before installing the new.
Seems a lot of trouble with tons of passwords stored and fingerprints stored... seems it ought to install over the top keeping the old personal data.
Here was my experience on my dv8t cto 1100.
1. Installed the new version 5.2.0.205.... was uneventful.
2. it forced a reboot and my fingerprint was not longer recognized.... so I simply went to my other login and it too gave me an error and wouldn't let me login.
3. Humm.... can't login, so no system restore available....
I thought I was going to have to import a ghost of my c drive and I tried rebooting with F8 and picked last known good configuretion.
4. the fingerprint still wouldn't work but my old login would then work.
5. I got into windows and the fingerprint software was still crap... I then was able to do a system restore the the point before the install and all works perfect now.
Not worth the hassle for the ridiculous upgrade it gives you.
How about an upgrade so the lastest browsers will work with the persona software????
It might be worth the trouble upgrading then!!! -
