    Now on the first post:

    09/03/2011
    • Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.3.12.1.

Detailed changelog / release notes are available within the Softpaq.

The driver and software versions are different in this case; usually they are the same. I'm not too worried about posting this, however.

Well Falco, I would not be so convinced that's this update will be so pointless. The Firefox extensions API isn't updated every FF release (Of course it is understood that you are not a developer).

So Forum members, following you can find the link of the latest update from Egistec fully compatible with FF5/6 and maybe 7/8/9...:

    Dear ETOSoft,

The last version HP SimplePass has been ready, it supports Firefox5&6. You can get it at:

The one for binary components is and even if just the version gets bumped. That's why "extensions that use binary components will need to recompile for each major version they wish to support." (quote from https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Developer_Guide/Interface_Compatibility#Binary_Interfaces)

    Hey All,
I just thought I'd let ya'll know that IF you want to use the NEWEST driver version available for the HDX Dragon, you can. IT IS POSSIBLE! (Ya'll may already know this. If so, sorry for being so darn slow...!) In any case, if you go to NVIDIA & Laptop News | Latest NVIDIA drivers and related news | laptopvideo2go.com. You can select the latest video driver for the nVidia / ATI graphic's card, and then download the modded INF file, then follow the install instructions! I can't believe how much faster the card is, more responsive, better quality (at least I think it is), and gives SO MUCH MORE support for programs. Anyway, I'm so sorry for waisting all of your time and if you have any questions, let me know. I'm happy to help!!!!
    I hope this helps ya'll!

    Thanks,
    Swick

No need for a modded INF, at least in my case since mine is apparently supported out-of-the-box with the WHQLed 285.27 Notebook OEM driver.

I do not agree. Only if they change the internal references to the extension API it will must be recompiled.

    Otherwise just edit the files

    C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Hewlett-Packard \ HP SimplePass Identity Protection \ FFExt20 \ install.rdf

    em:maxVersion 6 .* em: maxVersion TO -->
    em:maxVersion 7 .* em: maxVersion

to make this extension TEMPORARILY compatible. In fact, I'm actually use FF7.0 beta 5 without any particular issue.

I've tested the FF 6.1 until yesteday and today (with some little changes) I've installed the FF7 beta 5 without any problem.

HP Simplepass logo appears when it is possible to auto-compile passwords fields (unfortunately it doen't works like Digital Persona Simle Pass that allowed to auto-compile every page with every kind of fields)

If you have problems try to contact the EgisTec support. They are very slow but luckily the always answer... good luck.

These updates are now posted. Thanks! :)

    10/06/2011
    • Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.3.1022.
    • Updated Intel WiFi Link Driver (and software) to version 14.2.0.10.
    • Updated Intel HD Graphics driver to version 8.15.10.2509 (15.22.50[.64].2509) / 6.14.0.3074 (Audio).

The updated Intel Chipset Device Software package does not include new drivers for these notebooks, so no need to apply if you have already done it before with a previous release.

Ok, guys...I asked this before and there was no solution. It's been a while since I'm updating the chipset drivers and the version remains 9.1.1.1022.

When I install it normally, installation lasts a blink of an eye. It's like nothing is being done. When I use the command -overall, however, installation shows me all the drivers being installed, but showing right under every single driver: "version 9.1.1.1022". This time, it even asked me to reboot the computer.

So...I checked the drivers via Device Manager and all of them are listed as 9.1.1.1022. The only different thing that happend is that now I have two "unknown devices" listed on the manager.

So...what do I have to do to install 9.2.3.1022 version? Is it a problem on my end?

    • Updated Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth driver package to version 6.5.0.2100.
    • Updated NVIDIA graphics driver to version 8.17.12.7600 (276.00).

    Some notes:

    1. Please note that the Broadcom Bluetooth version 6.5 packages will, without your permission, install bloatware into the following directory - C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\EasyBits Games. You can safely remove the EasyBits Games folder and then run a registry scan (using third-party software) to remove any other evidence of EasyBits on your system.

    2. Actual Broadcom Bluetooth driver components will have driver version numbers that will differ from the package version (which is 6.5.0.2100). However, the driver components should have a version number with the format of 6.5.X.XXXX, where X is a number.

    3. The NVIDIA graphics driver update was an unexpected release from Windows Update and the Microsoft Update Catalog. This package does not include the PhysX System Software, NVIDIA HDMI Audio driver, or 3D Vision Controller driver. If you need any of these components, obtain and install them from the 8.17.12.7533 (275.33) package. I personally recommend that you perform a clean installation through the setup wizard whenever a graphics driver upgrade is performed.

You're exactly right - nothing will be done during normal installation if the drivers that you already have are the same versions as those in the package. The installed driver versions remained the same because Intel has not updated the drivers for these components since 9.1.1.1022. Intel packages whatever is currently available, for the majority of their chipsets. The package's version number (in this case 9.2.3.1022) does not necessarily reflect the driver's version number, and the driver's version number will always be less than or equal to the package's version number - it really depends on the chipset generation that you currently have in your system.

As for the Unknown Devices, you could post the Hardware IDs here and I can determine what those components are so that you can install the necessary drivers for them. :)

The NVIDIA v276.00 release was developed and certified after v280.26. I think they are once again maintaining separate release branches.

Some of us have been experiencing black screen issues with the v280.26 package, which is why I temporarily removed it. If you are using v280.26 at the moment, stick with it. :)

Windows Updater just made v285.62 available, which I am glad to see as v280.26, before I removed it, was giving me black screens of death.

Oops, after running the update it appears I was given v276.00. I'm certain it said v285.62 in the pop-up message. Hmmm.

Take a look at this thread - http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...ng-windows-xp-intel-based-dvx500t-series.html

For newer drivers, you can alternatively take a look here - http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...x-dv95xx-dv99xx-compaq-v65xx-v69xx-intel.html. Most of these drivers should also work on Windows XP (with notable exceptions being the Intel WiFi and graphics drivers).

Note that Windows XP is no longer in mainstream support phase - you should think about upgrading. :)

FYI: When I did a fresh uninstall/install of IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 6.10.6365.0, nothing would play on the new version of the driver in either iTunes, WMP, Winamp, FLV, Quicktime etc. Rolled back to the Windows Update version from March 2010 and everything worked again..

EDIT: did another install via Windows Update, new version works fine now and I can play everything. Weird.

    • Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.3.16.1.
    • Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.3.17.0.
    • Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.3.21.0.

None of these drivers works properly. Two finger scroll stopped working after update.
    The previous drivers work well.

Same here - I'm also noticing how the TouchPad occasionally executes actions that I did not want. I'll continue to look and see if there are any viable workarounds to these issues.

    • Restored HP SimplePass Software by DigitalPersona - version 5.2.0.205 for x86 and version 5.1.0.175 for x64.
    • Updated Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family Controller driver to version 7.049 for Windows 7 (thanks chootmarani).

    • Updated the links to version 8.17.12.7600 (276.00) of the NVIDIA graphics driver.

Note that version 8.17.12.7600 (276.00) is not the most current NVIDIA graphics driver; I just updated the links so that they pointed to the HP Softpaq instead of the original links which pointed to Microsoft Update.
