on clean install this still needs driver installed first? or is it a complete package?
-
If that's true, we could remove the driver specific section on the first post.
If someone tries it on a clean system, please let us know if it also installs the driver, thanks. -

I just got the newest updates of HP Media Smart and IDT, but I am still pissed that they disabled the Treble/Bass sliders!!
-
Can anyone comment on the multimedia keys and Win7 X64? I had no luck with them. I just want the mute LED to work, eject button, and possibly the ability to re-configure the bass/treble controls to something else.
-
-
-
I have to manually go into Windows Control Panel/SOUND to adjust the Bass and Treble levels. Vista 64 bit.
When I first got my HDX18 in May and then pretty much all summer long the treble/bass sliders always worked, and the On-Screen Display still worked too.
Now neither work. -
Now you're missing the x64 version of DPP!
You're using x86 link on both lines, figured out myself so I just typed the right url to download the x64 version -
I prefer using the EQ to set it rather than the bass/treble settings... but if you're still using the Vista image that came with yours, why did it stop working? -
I too, also use the EQ's. But turning up the Bass in the Windows Control Panel/Sound really makes the Music and Movies sound WAY better!
Here's a little idea of what I am talking about. -

My HDX18 with Win7 Enterprise x64 works great, all the multimedia keys work too.
In order to make them work, I installed SmartMenu (sp42238.exe) and Quick Launch Buttons (sp45058.exe).
Some days ago I updated IDT to the latest version (sp45183.exe), and all the keys are still working.
The only problem I ever had with the HDX18 was with the webcam, Windows Update pushed some updated driver that screwed it up.
I reinstalled Win7 (I had W7 Ultimate and reinstalled with Enterprise) and right after the setup I installed all the drivers of this thread, and everything worked perfectly, multimedia keys included.
I also disabled Windows Update driver check, I like to handle driver personally, don't trust WU anymore for hardware. -
no if only HP would release some windows 7 drivers for their printers I would be happy. I mean its only 12 days away
-
My W7 experience has been absolutely perfect...'til now... -
I should be more specific. Win 7 finds the drivers but the software packages for all the added functionality are not yet in place
-
I installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on a HDX 16 (1316EZ) and installed drivers from here (thanks a lot for this page). Everything is working fine and fast and all hardware is detected and working.
The only problem is the bluetooth device. When installing it says something like "There was an error in the installation script. It could be the script is for Windows 95"? So installation interrupts.
First the bluetooth was shown under "unknown device", yesterday I tried the bluetooth drivers from this page and now its listed as "problem" under "bluetooth device"?
Does anybody have a hint how to get bluetooth working properly under Windows 2008 Server?
Regards

MediaSmart Webcam is now version 3.0! Like MediaSmart DVD, documentation shows that it is only compatible with Windows 7. (Still not sure whether it is compatible with Vista.)
10/13/2009
- Updated MediaSmart Webcam to version 3.0.1913 for Windows 7.
@hammelbeck: There are currently minor problems with the current HP Integrated Bluetooth installer and software if run on Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2. A new update by HP should hopefully be available within the next few days that adds official support. -
Corrected bass and treble for windows 7
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45617.exe
I have received from the official site (HP HDX X18)
This package provides the HP Tone Control Utility (for Bass/Treble) for the
supported HDX18 win 7 -
-
It is an updated HP tone control driver and it did not fix my treble or bass controls...
-
-
Okay, this doesn't make any sense... I was one of the lucky ones who scored a HouseParty for Windows 7; I got the box yesterday, installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit via a clean install, and I've been fighting with this P.O.S. ever since last night! I've finally gotten the touch-sensitive buttons and the fingerprint sensor to work, but the Intel Wi-Fi manager, the MediaSmart TV, nor the MediaSmart DVD programs will work. (I just installed the DVD update, downloaded *directly from Cyberlink from within the DVD program*, and it will not play any DVDs or Blu-Ray discs.)
Anyone have any tips to get this going? (Short of putting my Vista Ultimate drive back in, that is?) -
VERSION: 2.00 REV: A
DESCRIPTION: This package provides the HP Tone Control Utility (for Bass/Treble) for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems.
It's only for Win7 (x32 & x64), reboot after installation.
I'll try later, my treble&bass buttons are already working, but I installed it anyway, I'll reboot and see if it works better. -
-
Please let me know if the Tone Control Utility needs to be put up on the first post (especially if it works
).
Also, updated MediaSmart 3.0 utilities are now posted.
- Updated MediaSmart DVD to version 3.0.3123 for Windows 7.
- Updated MediaSmart SmartMenu to version 3.0.30.1 for Windows 7.
-
It's not Microsoft's? That's an advantage for me. Plus I'm just used to the Intel manager on my Vista install.
NOTE - A post at an HP support forum claimed that Comodo Firewall software could cause the HP DVD software to screw up; I removed the Comodo firewall, and now, my DVDs and Blu-Ray discs play just fine! Sweet! Now if only I could get the HDTV problem fixed, I'd be happy. -
wow so much updates now. For sure Win7 is about to release very very soon.
-
Right now I have Quick Launch and SmartMenu (2.x) installed, and all buttons are working (bass, treble, eject, smartmenu etc.).
Now I'll try the new SmartMenu 3.x and let you know how it goes... -
SmartMenu 3.x doesn't work for me...reverted to 2.x version and everything's working again.
I don't have a good feeling about these new versions coming out...probably they're rushing them...they didn't test them thoroughly...
Did anyone else try these last drivers/apps? What is your experience? -
I don't know if either messing with the IDT control panel settings or messing with the windows sound settings messed this up, but my mute button won't change color based on press anymore; and I don't think it was Skype that messed it up either.
Meh, I was planning on doing a reformat around the time the OS was actually released to retail, might as well go ahead and do it now. -
IDT related question.. under the SRS Premium control panel, the little "headphones" button is always turned on (green) after i reboot my system, and i have to manually turn it off. this button is right under the "enabled" button..
anyone else have this problem? keep in mind, this occurs when i am not using headphones. the correct sound device is selected ("speakers and dual headphones").. btw, i am connected to external speakers
unrelated, i like the little red "b", dr. dre beats icon i get now for the IDT control panel that came from the envy drivers. lol -
...wait, what SRS control panel?
Fixed the mute button by reformatting, although I think it was a driver issue, I was trying to completley get rid of the old driver and I even went into safe mode to try, but it didn't seem to work. -
Playback > Speakers and Dual Headphones > SRS PREMIUM > then under the big green SRS Powered PREMIUM SOUND thing..
by the way, that mute button thing is common. i think it's a Quick Launch Button driver problem or something like that. it's pretty well documented on here i think. -
I remember seeing that a few times when I installed the IDT drivers under Vista, but I haven't seen it since I started using Windows 7, the only one that I get is Dolby Home Theater. Plus it seemed really random as to when it would come up. On top of that, none of the settings in it worked for me anyway.
-
weird, mine does not have any Dolby options, instead it says SRS premium there, with a bunch of settings. these settings actually do wonders for the sound...
what version of the control panel do you have? mine is showing :
1.0.6232.0
(2009.08.19)
[[well, obviously, mine does not have dolby capabilities like your HDX, but i figured you might have some SRS setting options]] -
Mines is also 1.0.6232.0 [2009.08.19].
I don't get it either. -
-
10/14/2009
- Updated MediaSmart Live TV to version 3.0.1924 for Windows 7.

...and it STILL doesn't work! Grr... this is pathetic - do they even test this crap before releasing it? It STILL won't see the ATSC side of my tuner, which worked perfectly in Vista. I've installed everything needed in this exhaustive list (MANY THANKS for this, by the way!), but it just doesn't work. Interesting that it DOES work correctly under Windows Media Center, picking up many digital channels.
(Incidentally, is this the only other item that needs to be installed for the HP MediaSmart television software to detect digital TV channels?
"HP Integrated Analog/Digital TV Tuner
Version: 1.3.0.69 for Windows Vista x86, 1.3.64.69 for Windows Vista x64
OS Support: Windows Vista (x86/x64)
Link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42001-42500/sp42278.exe
Notes: This TV tuner is originally made by AVerMedia. There is sometimes a newer version of the driver available on their website, however if you use that driver it will not be recognized as HP DVB-T/Analog TV Tuner. Only install this if your notebook comes with an integrated TV tuner.") -

Hi, I installed the latest driver for the HP quick launch for the HDX16, but the ejected buttons and "play stop pause" buttons remain unusable. Is anyone having a similar problem?

Man on man that is so frustrating! I had the same problem after I thought I updated the IDT driver a few months ago, the the mute light would always be red. I then found this Driver thread and well I proceeded to go with the latest driver. It seemed to resolve the problem and I could also use the EQ, which never did work from the get go.
But.... all this was short lived a few days later the red light came back and the EQ was unresponsive. Well time to get medieval in it's ace. I went into the progam files both the 64 and x86 and deleated the IDT folders and reinstalled the Driver from the first page here.
Guess what? No Problems, whooo-hoo! Everything is working like it should and it's going on a week or so!! -

Just noticed that there is an update for the new HP support software:
HP Support Assistant - Version 4.1.11.3
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp44001-44500/sp44304.exe
HP Advisor - Version 3.1.9289.3128
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45384.exe -
Hi, Justin - yes, this is the integrated TV tuner, and it seems that they are having a hell of a time getting drivers to work with Win 7... what irks me to no end is the fact that Windows Media Center has no problem seeing the digital capabilities, yet HP can't seem to figure it out. (Maybe I'm missing something, but has ANYONE gotten MediaSmart TV to work on digital TV? I have yet to see one person claim that it works in Windows 7...)
I keep hoping they (HP) will get it right some day... but I'm not holding my breath.
